One of the key development goals of the EU regional policy is the development of the less developed regions and the enhancement of the cooperation with symmetrical cross-border regions, including the possibility of cooperation at the EU's external borders. Serbia belongs to this category, and the current cross-border cooperational contacts in the border regions with the EU member states are mainly successful. The purpose of this study is to present the development documents that address the topic of tourism in the Tisza Region, a cross-border region of Serbia and Hungary, at the level of national, regional and local development documents in Hungary and Serbia, as well as according to international projects that focus in the complementary tourism sectors and joint activities in the region. The main research results show that the analyzed strategic documents point to similar and competitive guidelines for the development of tourism in the neighbouring Tisza Regions of Hungary and Serbia in terms of their content. It has been found that the focus is on the individual tourist motives in the cross-border region, but also that there are development processes that are coordinately implemented owing to the regional and rural policy and the EU assistance, on the one hand, and the open borders that allow free communication throughout the entire region, on the other.

The challenges of environmental protection is divided between various governmental institutions in Jordan such as Ministry of environment, Ministry of Irrigation, Ministry of Health, Ministry of municipalities affairs, In this study, the tasks of each ministry and its affiliated institutions were determined through the provisions of the constitution and the law in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The most important environmental problems were included with some studies and reports that dealt with these problems through scientific and statistical analysis.

The main aim of the paper is to investigate the influence of formal education level on decision-making process when choosing a tourist destination based on multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The survey was conducted on the sample of 252 respondents from Bačka region (Vojvodina/Serbia). Also, this study strives to examine the influence of education level on decision-making process including all five phases of decision-making process: need awareness, information search, alternatives estimation, purchase and purchase evaluation, applied to the process of choosing coastal regions as tourist destinations. The study shows that education level is related to four out of five phases of decision-making process (only in case of need awareness there is no statistically significant difference). This is especially important for creation of a marketing platform with promotional activities adjusted to different market segments differentiated by education level. Moreover, the study discusses differences in behaviour of different educational groups while choosing travel destinations.

The paper is based upon research that consisted of a series of interviews conducted with refugees in the municipality of Temerin in Serbia, during the fall of 2011. The objective of this research was to analyze the identity of refugees and the degree of their social integration. The assumption was that dimensions of their identity may show and point to the problems and difficulties of their social integration. The identity of the refugees is analyzed within the socio-cultural context, because migration always occurs in a specific spatial and socio-cultural configuration. Refugees as migrants are exposed to the influences of economic, political and cultural structures of the society. The data shows that the circumstances of war and exile contributed significantly to strengthening the ethnic identity of refugees and that it is still a very important dimension of their cultural identity. Refugees have, in most cases, a positive experience and feelings of acceptance by their neighbors, friends and other inhabitants of Temerin, which indicates a high degree of their social integration.

This study deals with a few relevant indicators that clearly and consistently illustrate degradation processes in seven borderline rural settlements of the mountainous region around Vršac. The above mentioned processes tend to affect demographic phenomena and processes as well as the economic situation, i.e. the structure and functioning of agricultural production, in the first place. What is characteristic about this region is stagnation and deterioration of major branches of economy, not only due to specific natural qualities of the mountains in this region, as well as general current economic politics towards most borderline areas in Serbia, but also due to the fact that these villages cannot even find stimulating economic support in cooperation with nearby borderline region of Romania, which is actually one of the poorly developed regions of the Romanian part of Banat.

Jelen tanulmány Szerbia regionális fejlődése egyes sajátosságainak közigazgatási (adminisztratív és statisztikai), valamint funkcionális szempontú jellemzői alapján történő bemutatására törekszik. Szerbia területi szerkezetében észlelt fejlődési egyenlőtlenségek, illetve a regionális fejlettség aránytalanságai tükrözik a népességszerkezetben jelentkező egyensúly-hiányt, az anyagi korlátozások és a strukturális összehangoltság hiányát, amelyek már évek óta halmozódnak, s amit a politikai-gazdasági történések az 1990-es évek során még jobban fokoztak. A tanulmány a fejletlen területek alapvető problémáira utal, azon kritériumokra, amelyek alapján a községek a régión belül definiálhatók és tipizálhatók, valamint vázolja Szerbia regionális térszerkezetének változatait.
