Abstract

In this paper, we give a brief overview of generalized symmetries from the point of view of the lattice regularization as a fully regularized framework. At first, we illustrate the generalization of 't~Hooft anomaly matching for higher-form symmetries. Furthermore the main interest goes to the higher-group symmetry. Abstract

CTA (Cherenkov Telescope Array) is the next generation ground-based observatory for gamma-ray astronomy at very-high energies. The Large-Sized Telescope prototype (LST-1) is located at the Northern site of CTA, on the Canary Island of La Palma. LSTs are designed to provide optimal performance in the lowest part of the energy range covered by CTA, down to $\simeq 20$ GeV. LST-1 started performing astronomical observations in November 2019, during its commissioning phase, and it has been taking data since then. We present the first LST-1 observations of the Crab Nebula, the standard candle of very-high energy gamma-ray astronomy, and use them, together with simulations, to assess the basic performance parameters of the telescope. The data sample consists of around 36 hours of observations at low zenith angles collected between November 2020 and March 2022. LST-1 has reached the expected performance during its commissioning period - only a minor adjustment of the preexisting simulations was needed to match the telescope behavior. The energy threshold at trigger level is estimated to be around 20 GeV, rising to $\simeq 30$ GeV after data analysis. Performance parameters depend strongly on energy, and on the strength of the gamma-ray selection cuts in the analysis: angular resolution ranges from 0.12 to 0.40 degrees, and energy resolution from 15 to 50%. Flux sensitivity is around 1.1% of the Crab Nebula flux above 250 GeV for a 50-h observation (12% for 30 minutes). The spectral energy distribution (in the 0.03 - 30 TeV range) and the light curve obtained for the Crab Nebula agree with previous measurements, considering statistical and systematic uncertainties. 7. Non-invertible duality defect and non-commutative fusion algebra

Abstract

We study non-invertible duality symmetries by gauging a diagonal subgroup of a non-anomalous U(1) $\times$ U(1) global symmetry. In particular, we employ the half-space gauging to $c=2$ bosonic torus conformal field theory (CFT) in two dimensions and pure U(1) $\times$ U(1) gauge theory in four dimensions. In $c=2$ bosonic torus CFT, we show that the non-invertible symmetry obtained from the diagonal gauging becomes emergent on an irrational CFT point. We also calculate the fusion rules concerning the duality defect. We find out that the fusion algebra is non-commutative. We also obtain a similar result in pure U(1) $\times$ U(1) gauge theory in four dimensions., Comment: 33 pages, 5 figures, 2 tables. v3: some discussions on irrational CFT are modified, but conclusion is unchanged

9. Non-invertible symmetries and boundaries in four dimensions

Abstract

We study quantum field theories with boundary by utilizing non-invertible symmetries. We consider three kinds of boundary conditions of the four dimensional $\mathbb{Z}_2$ lattice gauge theory at the critical point as examples. The weights of the elements on the boundary is determined so that these boundary conditions are related by the Kramers-Wannier-Wegner (KWW) duality. In other words, it is required that the KWW duality defects ending on the boundary is topological. Moreover, we obtain the ratios of the hemisphere partition functions with these boundary conditions; this result constrains the boundary renormalization group flows under the assumption of the conjectured g-theorem in four dimensions., Comment: 18 pages, 19 figures: v2: references and comments added

Abstract

We consider the $U(1)$ gauge theory on a four-dimensional torus, where the instanton number is restricted to an integral multiple of $p$. This theory possesses the nontrivial higher-group structure, which can be regarded as a generalization of the Green--Schwarz mechanism, between $\mathbb{Z}_q$ $1$-form and $\mathbb{Z}_{pq}$ $3$-form symmetries. Here, $\mathbb{Z}_q$ is a subgroup of the center of~$U(1)$. Following the recent study of the lattice construction of the $U(1)/\mathbb{Z}_q$ principal bundle, we examine how such a structure is realized on the basis of lattice regularization., Comment: 16 pages, to appear in EPJC. Abstract

As human life progresses with the development of advanced civilisation, people's perceptions of various things tend to often change. One of them is the notion of exclusivism. Postmodernists say that truth is subjective, that is, it is based on oneself. Truth is determined by the individual, which is one's personal human right. Similarly, relativists say that truth, including Christian faith, is also relative. If it is relative, it means that the word of God is no longer the absolute truth, that Jesus is not the only Saviour because there are other ways to be saved. This thinking is contrary to the Holy Bible, which declares that God is the absolute truth. One of the negative effects of the many changes that are taking place is, for example, the attack or rejection of the truth of God's Word. Even the servants of God today are less selective in accepting changes. Based on this, the purpose of this research is to see how the perception of churches in the postmodern era is changing towards exclusivism the understanding of religious pluralism. The religious pluralism model promotes the belief that there is indeed virtue in all religions, just as all religions are good and are of relatively equal value. The research approach adopted a descriptive quantitative methodology. The scale used for measurement a Likert scale. The questionnaire was distributed through a link on google forms to communities in some areas around Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Tangerang. The amount of data obtained was from 187 respondents of Protestant churches comprising 51% males and 49% females. The results of the research demonstrate that the general understanding of religious pluralism in Protestant Christianity is still at a very low level. The reasons are 1) Church sermons that do not mention ideas such as pluralism, 2) The church is more focused on soul winning, 3) The church is complacent in the routine of its worship, 4) The church lacks information about religious pluralism, 5) The church lacks servants of God who are knowledgeable about emerging theology, 6) Churches are competing for the souls of other churches.

Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was previously known as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It has various main symptoms, such as dyspnea, chronic cough, and sputum, and is often accompanied by dysphagia. Although many published clinical reports have described COPD-related dysphagia, the physiological mechanisms underlying swallowing changes due to COPD remain unclear. Therefore, we analyzed how COPD affects the swallowing reflex using COPD model rats. We performed an electrophysiological study of respiration and swallowing using COPD model induced by intratracheal administration of porcine pancreatic elastase and lipopolysaccharide in Sprague-Dawley male rats. To identify the respiration and swallowing responses, electromyographic activity was recorded from the diaphragm, digastric (Dig), and thyrohyoid (TH) muscles. We confirmed COPD using micro-computed tomography analysis and hematoxylin and eosin staining of the lungs. The duty cycle was defined as the ratio of the inspiration duration to the total respiratory duration. In COPD model rats, the duty cycle was significantly higher than that in control rats. The frequency of the swallowing reflex evoked by electrical stimulation of the superior laryngeal nerve during the inspiration phase was higher in COPD model rats than in control rats. Furthermore, long-term COPD altered Dig and TH muscle activity without pathological muscle change. Our results suggest that COPD increases the frequency of swallowing initiation during the inspiration phase. Furthermore, long-term COPD affects swallowing-related muscle activity without pathological muscle changes. These physiological changes may increase the risk of developing dysphagia. Further studies are necessary to clarify the mechanisms contributing to the functional changes in respiration and swallowing in COPD.

Abstract

Abstract Background There has been little information on the actual diagnosis of pulmonary lesions in patients with a history of urinary tract transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) and short- and long- outcomes of pulmonary resection for these patients. Methods In the present study, the data of 37 consecutive patients with a history of TCC who underwent pulmonary resection for solitary pulmonary lesions were reviewed, and the clinical factors and short- and long-term outcomes were analyzed. Results The study population included 35 male patients, and 2 female patients. The mean age was 72.5 years. Twenty patients (80%) were smokers and showed a high incidence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Pulmonary lesions and primary TCC were detected simultaneously in 5 patients and metachronously in 32 patients. The median interval between treatment for primary TCC and the detection of pulmonary lesion was 43 months. The mean tumor diameter was 23 mm. The types of resection included lobectomy (n = 19), segmentectomy (n = 8), and partial resection (n = 10). Twelve of 37 patients (32%) developed postoperative complications. The pathological diagnoses included primary lung cancer (n = 28), pulmonary metastasis from TCC (n = 7), and others (n = 2). The 5-year overall survival rate for all patients was 72%. The 5-year overall survival rate of patients with primary lung cancer was 74%, while that of patients with pulmonary metastasis from TCC was 57%. Conclusions Surgery can be proactively considered for treating pulmonary lesions in patients with a previous history of TCC, as it provides favorable long-term outcomes.

Abstract

We explore topological defects in the 4-dimensional pure $\mathbb{Z}_2$ lattice gauge theory. This theory has 1-form $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ center symmetry as well as the Kramers-Wannier-Wegner (KWW) duality. We construct the KWW duality topological defects in the similar way to that constructed by Aasen, Mong, Fendley arXiv:1601.07185 for the 2-dimensional Ising model. These duality defects turn out to be non-invertible. We also construct the 1-form $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ symmetry defects as well as the junctions among KWW duality defects and 1-form $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ center symmetry defects. The crossing relations among these defects are derived. Abstract We study non-invertible duality symmetries by gauging a diagonal subgroup of a non-anomalous U(1)×U(1) global symmetry. In particular, we employ the half-space gauging to c = 2 bosonic torus conformal field theory (CFT) in two dimensions and pure U(1)×U(1) gauge theory in four dimensions. In c = 2 bosonic torus CFT, we show that the non-invertible symmetry obtained from the diagonal gauging becomes emergent on an irrational CFT point. We also calculate the fusion rules concerning the duality defect. We find out that the fusion algebra is non-commutative. We also obtain a similar result in pure U(1)×U(1) gauge theory in four dimensions.

Objectives This study documents the time elapsed from the diagnosis of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) to surgery, exploring the factors that influence ONFH severity.Design Retrospective observational study of a nationwide database.Setting The Kaplan-Meier method with log-rank tests was applied to examine the period from definitive diagnosis of ONFH to surgery using any surgery as the end point. For bilateral cases, the date of the first surgery was the endpoint.Participants This study included 2074 ONFH cases registered in 34 university hospitals and highly specialised hospitals of the multicentre sentinel monitoring system of the Japanese Investigation Committee between 1997 and 2018.Main outcome measure The primary outcome was the time from diagnosis to surgery. The secondary outcome was the proportion of subjects remaining without surgery at 3, 6 and 9 months, and at 1, 2 and 5 years after diagnosis.Results The median time to surgery was 9 months (IQR 4–22 months) after diagnosis of ONFH. Abstract

We construct a fundamental system of a $q$-difference Lax pair of rank $N$ in terms of 5d Nekrasov functions with $q=t$. Our fundamental system degenerates by the limit $q\to 1$ to a fundamental system of a differential Lax pair, which yields the Fuji-Suzuki-Tsuda system. We introduce tau functions of our system as Fourier transforms of 5d Nekrasov functions. Using asymptotic expansions of the fundamental system at $0$ and $\infty$, we obtain several determinantal identities of the tau functions.

Abstract We consider the U(1) gauge theory on a four-dimensional torus, where the instanton number is restricted to an integral multiple of p. This theory possesses the nontrivial higher-group structure, which can be regarded as a generalization of the Green–Schwarz mechanism, between $$\mathbb {Z}_q$$ Z q 1-form and $$\mathbb {Z}_p$$ Z p 3-form symmetries. Here, $$\mathbb {Z}_q$$ Z q is a subgroup of the center of U(1). Following the recent study of the lattice construction of the $$U(1)/\mathbb {Z}_q$$ U ( 1 ) / Z q principal bundle, we examine how such a structure is realized on the basis of lattice regularization.

Abstract

We derive series representations for the tau functions of the $q$-Painlev\'e V, $\mathrm{III_1}$, $\mathrm{III_2}$, and $\mathrm{III_3}$ equations, as degenerations of the tau functions of the $q$-Painlev\'e VI equation in [Jimbo M., Nagoya H., Sakai H., J. Integrable Syst. 2 (2017), xyx009, 27 pages]. Our tau functions are expressed in terms of $q$-Nekrasov functions. Thus, our series representations for the tau functions have explicit combinatorial structures. We show that general solutions to the $q$-Painlev\'e V, $\mathrm{III_1}$, $\mathrm{III_2}$, and $\mathrm{III_3}$ equations are written by our tau functions. We also prove that our tau functions for the $q$-Painlev\'e $\mathrm{III_1}$, $\mathrm{III_2}$, and $\mathrm{III_3}$ equations satisfy the three-term bilinear equations for them.

We prove a Fredholm determinant and short-distance series representation of the Painlev\'e V tau function $\tau(t)$ associated to generic monodromy data. Using a relation of $\tau(t)$ to two different types of irregular $c=1$ Virasoro conformal blocks and the confluence from Painlev\'e VI equation, connection formulas between the parameters of asymptotic expansions at $0$ and $i\infty$ are conjectured. Explicit evaluations of the connection constants relating the tau function asymptotics as $t\to 0,+\infty,i\infty$ are obtained. Abstract

Abstract Background Evaluation of micromotion in various activities in daily life is essential to the assessment of the initial fixation of cementless short stems in total hip arthroplasty. This study sought to evaluate three-dimensionally the micromotion of two types of cementless short stems. Methods Two types of stems were used: the Fitmore stem with a rectangular cross-section (rectangular stem) and the octagonal-oval GTS stem with fins (finned stem). Finite element analysis was used to calculate the micromotion of two activities that place a heavy load on the stem (single-leg stance and stair climbing). Three values were measured: the magnitude of micromotion (mean and 95th percentile), the location of micromotion above the 95th percentile value, and the directions of the micromotion vector. Results 1. There was no significant difference in the magnitude of the micromotion between the rectangular stem and finned stem groups for single-leg stance or stair climbing. 2. In both groups, the micromotion was greatest at the proximal and distal ends. 3. The direction of the micromotion was similar in both groups; internal rotation occurred from the distal to the middle of the stem during stair climbing. Conclusions The rectangular stem had comparable initial fixation to that of the finned stem. In both models, the micromotion was greater at the proximal and distal ends. The direction of the micromotion was not dependent on the stem shape but on the direction of the load on the artificial femoral head. These results will be important for stem selection and future stem development.
