There is no doubt that organic dyes currently play an indispensable role in our daily life; they are used in products such as furniture, textiles, and leather accessories. However, the main problems related to the widespread use of these dyes are their toxicity and non-biodegradable nature, which mainly are responsible for various environmental risks and threaten human life. Therefore, the elimination of these toxic materials from aqueous media is highly recommended to save freshwater resources, as well as our health and environment. Heterogeneous photocatalysis is a potential technique for dye degradation, in which a photocatalyst is used to absorb light (UV or visible) and produce electron–hole pairs that enable the reaction participants to undergo chemical changes. In the past, various metal oxides have been successfully applied as promising photocatalysts for the degradation of dyes and various organic pollutants due to their wide bandgap, optical, and electronic properties, in addition to their low cost, high abundance, and chemical stability in aqueous solutions. Various parameters play critical roles in the total performance of the photocatalyst during the photocatalytic degradation of dyes, including morphology, which is a critical factor in the overall degradation process. Water pollution by synthetic anionic dyes is one of the most critical ecological concerns and challenges. Therefore, there is an urgent need to find an efficient adsorbent and photocatalyst for dye removal. In the present study, we aimed to fabricate a hybrid mesoporous composite of spongy sphere-like SnO2 and three-dimensional (3D) cubic-like MgO (SnO2/MgO) as a promising adsorbent/photocatalyst to remove the anionic sunset yellow (SSY) dye from real wastewater at neutral pH conditions. The as-synthesized SnO2 and MgO composite was investigated using XRD, SEM, EDX, TEM, XPS, BET, and zeta potential. The experimental study of the SSY removal using SnO2/MgO composite was performed at different conditions, such as pH, stirring time, dose, and temperature. More than 99% of 10 mg/L SSY was effectively adsorbed from aqueous solution using 40 mg of SnO2/MgO composite at pH 7 and a stirring time of 60 min. The SSY adsorption behavior was well fitted by pseudo-second order and the Langmuir model, indicating that the SSY was chemisorbed to the composite-active sites as a monolayer. On the other hand, photocatalytic degradation process exhibited better results in terms of speed of removal and used quantity of photocatalyst, where 20 mg of SnO2/MgO composite can be used to remove > 99% of SSY dye within 30 min. Mechanism of SSY adsorption and photocatalytic degradation was discussed. In addition, elution experiments demonstrated that the SnO2/MgO composite as an SSY adsorbent could be reused for nine cycles without considerable reduction in the SSY adsorption efficiency. Therefore, this work exhibited that the mesoporous SnO2/MgO composite can be considered an effective adsorbent/photocatalyst to remove SSY dye from real industrial effluent water at neutral pH conditions. Background: Iliac arteries are commonly affected by occlusive atherosclerotic disease, leading to arterial insufficiency and lower extremity symptoms. Atherosclerosis in the iliac region often coexists with pathologies below the inguinal ligament. Aims: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of unilateral common iliac artery stenting versus bilateral kissing stents in terms of clinical and technical success for treating unilateral common iliac artery ostial lesions. Method: A prospective study (October 2022-April 2023) that included 40 patients randomly assigned to two groups. Group A received bilateral kissing stents, while group B underwent unilateral common iliac artery stenting. Clinical evaluation, technical success, and complications were assessed over six months. Results: Technical success rate was 100 % in groups A and B, six months primary patency rate in group A was 95% had patent stent with good inflow while 5% had claudication at 100 M, treated by a balloon expandable stent. While in group B, 85% had patent stent with good inflow while 5% had claudication at 100 M, treated by balloon expandable stent, 5% had renal failure, congested heart failure and died, and 5% neglected medication. DFI occurred, sepsis and AKA was done as a lifesaving. Conclusion: Unilateral common iliac artery stenting demonstrated comparable clinical outcomes, technical success, and complication rates to bilateral kissing stents. An effective nanocomposite sensor for selective electroanalytical dopamine (DA) determination using overoxidized conducting polymer of poly‐1,5‐diaminonaphthalene (OPoly‐1,5‐DAN) functionalized graphene nanosheets (GNS) was achieved. The OPoly‐1,5‐DAN/GNS nanocomposite polymer was prepared via an electropolymerization of 1,5‐DAN on GNS/GCE after 7 cycles of potential scan (−0.2 V to +0.9 V), followed by an electrooveroxidation of the nanocomposite Poly‐1,5‐DAN/GNS by the potential cycle (0.0 V to +1.8 V) for 2 scans. The OPoly‐1,5‐DAN was effectively designed by GNS as a uniformly distribution of nanocomposite that caused more accumulations of analyte due to large electrocatalytic active positions created on electrode surface. The high specific and sensitive performance of the OPoly‐1,5‐DAN/GNS nanocomposite polymer was conducted to greater effective electrons transferring behavior for DA with copresent of vitamin C (VC). The stable and suitable formation of OPoly‐1,5‐DAN/GNS nanocomposite polymer showed rapid charge transport voltammogram and obvious electrocatalytic activity to DA and eliminated VC response. Moreover, the OPoly‐1,5‐DAN/GNS displays an excellent responses to DA determination with wide linear range (LR) 1.0–150 μM and lower detection limit (DL) 8.82±0.1 nM as comparing with other studies. Additionally, the excellent reproducibility of OPoly‐1,5‐DAN/GNS as well as long‐term stability indicated that it is an excellent and effective electrochemical DA sensor. Conocarpus pruning waste, an agricultural byproduct, was converted into low-cost activated and non-activated carbons and used for the remediation of Cd2+, Cu2+, and Pb2+ from aqueous solutions. The carbonization was carried out at 400 °C, while the activation was carried out in the presence of KOH and ZnCl2. Batch single-solute and multi-solute equilibrium and kinetic experiments were carried out to determine the adsorption capacities of the prepared activated and non-activated carbons, and these were further compared with commercially available activated carbon. The results showed that KOH-activated carbon (CK) outperformed the other activated and non-activated carbons in terms of adsorption efficiency. CK removed >50% of the applied Cd2+ and Cu2+ and 100% of Pb2+ at the initial concentration of 40 mg L-1. Interestingly, the performance of Conocarpusderived non-activated carbon was better than that of the commercial activated carbon, as observed from the Langmuir maximum adsorption capacities of 65.61, 66.12, and 223.05 µmol g-1 for Cd2+, Cu2+, and Pb2+, respectively. The Pb2+ was the metal most easily removed from aqueous solution because of its large ionic radius. The kinetic dynamics were well described by the pseudo-second order and Elovich models. In Saudi Arabia, more than 335,000 tons of cow manure is produced every year from dairy farming. However, the produced cow manure is usually added to the agricultural soils as raw or composted manure; significant nitrogen losses occur during the storage, handling, and application of the raw manure. The recovery of ammonia from cow manure through thermochemical treatments is a promising technique to obtain concentrated nitrogen fertilizer and reducing nitrogen losses from raw manure. However, the byproduct effluents from the recovery process are characterized by different chemical properties from the original raw manure; thus, its impact as soil amendments on the soil carbon and nitrogen dynamics is unknown. Therefore, a 90-day incubation experiment was conducted to study the impact of these effluents on CO2 efflux, organic C, microbial biomass C, available NH4+, and NO3− when added to agricultural soil. In addition to the two types of effluents (produced at pH 9 and pH 12), raw cow manure (CM), composted cow manure (CMC), cow manure biochar (CMB), and control were used for comparison. The application of CM resulted in a considerable increase in soil available nitrogen and CO2 efflux, compared to other treatments. Cow manure biochar showed the lowest CO2 efflux. Cumulative CO2 effluxes of cow manure effluents were lower than CM; this is possibly due to the relatively high C:N ratio of manure effluent. The content of P, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Mn decreased as incubation time increased. Soil microbial biomass C for soil treated with cow manure effluents (pH 12 and 7) was significantly higher than the rest of the soil amendments and control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Herein, a feasible chemical reduction method followed by intensive mixing was applied for the preparation of an attractive material based on graphite studded with cuprous oxide nanoparticle-based cubes (Cu2ONPs–C@G). Transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were utilized for characterization. Cuprous oxide nanoparticles (Cu2ONPs), with a diameter range mainly distributed from 4 to 20 nm, aggregate to form microcubes (Cu2ONPs–C) with an average diameter of about 367 nm. Paste electrode was prepared using Cu2ONPs–C@G (Cu2ONPs–C@G/PE) for voltametric quantification of the musculotropic antispasmodic drug: mebeverine hydrochloride (MEB). The electrochemical behavior of MEB was studied using CV, and the optimum analytical parameters were investigated using square wave adsorptive anodic stripping voltammetry (SWAdASV). Moreover, density functional theory (DFT) was used to emphasize the ability of MEB to form a complex with Cu2+, confirming the suggested electrochemical behavior of MEB at Cu2ONPs–C@G/PE. With good stability and high reproducibility, SWAdASV of Cu2ONPs–C@G/PE shows successful quantification of MEB over the concentration range of 5.00 × 10−11–1.10 × 10−9 M with lower limit of detection (LOD) and lower limit of quantification (LOQ) values of 2.41 × 10−11 M and 8.05 × 10−11 M, respectively. Finally, accurate quantification of MEB in dosage forms (tablets) and biological fluids (spiked human urine and plasma samples) was achieved using Cu2ONPs-C@G/PE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
