With the development of new technologies in recent years, researchers have made significant progress in crop breeding. Modern breeding differs from traditional breeding because of great changes in technical means and breeding concepts. Whereas traditional breeding initially focused on high yields, modern breeding focuses on breeding orientations based on different crops' audiences or by-products. The process of modern breeding starts from the creation of material populations, which can be constructed by natural mutagenesis, chemical mutagenesis, physical mutagenesis transfer DNA (T-DNA), Tos17 (endogenous retrotransposon), etc. Then, gene function can be mined through QTL mapping, Bulked-segregant analysis (BSA), Genome-wide association studies (GWASs), RNA interference (RNAi), and gene editing. Then, at the transcriptional, post-transcriptional, and translational levels, the functions of genes are described in terms of post-translational aspects. This article mainly discusses the application of the above modern scientific and technological methods of breeding and the advantages and limitations of crop breeding and diversity. In particular, the development of gene editing technology has contributed to modern breeding research.

Introduction: Flight attendants, as the front-line staff in the cabin, play a crucial role in improving air travel safety. This research explores how psychological safety affects flight attendants' adoption of mindful safety practices through voice participation. This mechanism also identifies ethical leadership and traditionality as two moderators., Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was used to collect data from 621 flight attendants in Chinese private commercial airline companies. PLS-SEM (partial least square structured equation modeling) is used to examine the hypotheses proposed in the present study., Results: After data analysis, the results reveal that the underlying mechanism covering both mediating and moderating effects through which flight attendants' voluntary and extra-role safety behavior could be improved., Discussion: The findings extend the existing literature regarding the antecedents of flight attendants' mindful safety practices adoption and obstacles to employee voice participation. In the current study, NiO nanoparticles, MnO nanoparticles, and Mn 2 NiO 4 nanocomposites (Ni-NPs, Mn-NPs and MN-NCs, respectively) were synthesized using a facile hydrothermal method, and their performance in the removal of amaranth (AM) dye from synthetic wastewater was compared. XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, BET analysis, and TGA were performed to characterize the produced catalysts. The effect of pertinent parameters, including pH, dosage of catalysts, temperature, and shaking speed on the uptake of AM was investigated through batch experiments. The MN-NCs showed ultrafast and high efficiency for AM removal compared to their counter parts Mn-NPs and Ni-NPs. Under ideal conditions, the highest adsorption efficiencies of AM onto Ni-NPs, Mn-NPs, and MN-NCs were calculated to be 80.50%, 93.85%, and 98.50%, respectively. The Langmuir isotherm fitted the experimental data of AM removal better as shown by the higher values of r 2 , compared to the Freundlich isotherm, indicating monolayer type adsorption of AM. According to kinetic analyses, the adsorption of AM was best described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Further, regeneration/recycling studies showed that MN-NCs retained 79% adsorption efficiency after four cycles. DFT experiments were also conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the process and behavior of AM adsorption. The widespread issue of chronic malnutrition, commonly referred to as "hidden hunger," arises from the consumption of poor-quality food, leading to various health and cognitive impairments. Biofortified food crops have been a sustainable solution to address micronutrient deficiencies. This review highlights multiple biofortification techniques, such as plant breeding, agronomic practices, genetic modification, and nano-technological approaches, aimed at enhancing the nutrient content of commonly consumed crops. Emphasizing the biofortification of legumes, this review employs bibliometric analysis to examine research trends from 2000 to 2023. It identifies key authors, influential journals, contributing countries, publication trends, and prevalent keywords in this field. Purpose: This study aims to explore the adverse impacts of abusive supervision on helping behaviors among employees, as mediating by intention to leave and moderating by Islamic work ethics (IWE)., Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative approach was employed, and the sample consisted of 283 nurses working in various public sector hospitals in Pakistan. The data analysis was conducted using SPSS and AMOS with the PROCESS macro., Findings: The results suggest that abusive supervision diminishes helping behavior among nurses. Additionally, the study reveals that intention to leave mediates the relationship of abusive supervision and nurses' helping behavior. Moreover, the introduction of IWE as a boundary condition reveals that the mediated link is weaker when IWE is higher, and vice versa., Practical Implications: This study provides valuable insights for hospital authorities to develop intervention strategies and policies aimed at reducing abusive supervision in hospitals. Hospital management should also be aware of the detrimental effects of abusive supervision on nurses' helping behaviors, which can be mitigated by promoting ethical values aligned with IWE., Originality/value: This study makes a valuable contribution to the limited research on the link between abusive supervision and helping behaviors in hospital settings. It offers new perspectives by incorporating the Conservation of Resources theory, particularly within the healthcare sector. Radial neck fractures with radial head rotation are very rare and extremely difficult to manage. We present the case of an 11-year-old girl who fell on her outstretched left upper extremity and damaged her left elbow in a road traffic accident. An arthrotomy was performed under a C-Arm fluoroscope, which confirmed the radial head displacement of 180° along with the fracture. The fracture site was reduced and fixed with two Kirschner wires, cutting the wire short at its distal end for a complete closure. Open reduction and internal fixation were followed by casting for five weeks. After two years of follow-up, she had complete pain free range of motion of the affected limb. No post-operative complications have been observed till date. Open reduction and internal fixation with two Kwires is a viable option for such complex injuries. However, further evaluation of outcomes and post-operative complications are required.

Background: The pursuit of medical and dental education is challenging and can affect the overall quality of life of medical students. Assessing the quality of life of medical students is the first step in the preparation of efficient future health care professionals. This study used the World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Version (WHOQOL-BREF) to evaluate the quality of life of medical and dental students in Karachi, Pakistan., Objectives: The study objectives include: assessing the QoL of medical and dental students and their general health satisfaction and self-satisfaction., Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 344 medical and dental students from different medical and dental schools in Karachi, Pakistan. The World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Version (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire was used to assess QOL, which included 26 items covering four domains: physical, psychological, social, and environmental. All scores for the domains ranged from 4 to 20. Scoring was done according to the WHOQOL-BREF procedure manual. The questionnaire was disseminated to medical students using Google Forms. SPSS software was used to analyze the data. Cronbach's alpha and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) test were used to evaluate the reliability and sampling adequacy of the data for factor analysis. Descriptive statistics were computed for each variable and QoL domain, including frequencies, percentages, averages, and standard deviations. Domain scores were compared using a t-test and one-way ANOVA, with p-values less than 0.05, indicating statistical significance., Results: Among the 344 medical students, 56.7% (n = 195) were female and 43.3% (n = 149) were male. The WHOQOL-BREF demonstrated excellent reliability, with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.918. Most medical students rated their overall QOL (62.2%) and health satisfaction (46.8%) as good, and were able to get around well (71.3%). No significant sex differences were found across the various QOL domains. Marital status significantly affected QOL scores (p < 0.005). Single students had significantly higher QOL scores than married/separated/divorced students did. Overall, the environmental domain had the highest mean score (26.81 ± 6.17), while social relationships had the lowest mean score (9.68 ± 2.93)., Conclusion: The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the QoL of medical and dental students. Most participants reported moderate satisfaction with their physical health and lower satisfaction with the psychological, social, and environmental components of QoL. Marital status was found to significantly impact the QoL as compared to single students with greater QoL. Background: Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) holds significant importance as a crop globally cultivated for sugar production. The genetic diversity present in sugar beet accessions plays a crucial role in crop improvement programs., Methods and Results: During the present study, we collected 96 sugar beet accessions from different regions and extracted DNA from their leaves. Genomic DNA was amplified using SCoT primers, and the resulting fragments were separated by gel electrophoresis. The data were analyzed using various genetic diversity indices, and constructed a population STRUCTURE, applied the unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA), and conducted Principle Coordinate Analysis (PCoA). The results revealed a high level of genetic diversity among the sugar beet accessions, with 265 bands produced by the 10 SCoT primers used. The percentage of polymorphic bands was 97.60%, indicating substantial genetic variation. The study uncovered significant genetic variation, leading to higher values for overall gene diversity (0.21), genetic distance (0.517), number of effective alleles (1.36), Shannon's information index (0.33), and polymorphism information contents (0.239). The analysis of molecular variance suggested a considerable amount of genetic variation, with 89% existing within the population. Using STRUCTURE and UPGMA analysis, the sugar beet germplasm was divided into two major populations. Structure analysis partitioned the germplasm based on the origin and domestication history of sugar beet, resulting in neighboring countries clustering together., Conclusion: The utilization of SCoT markers unveiled a noteworthy degree of genetic variation within the sugar beet germplasm in this study. Efficient electrocatalytic CO 2 reduction reaction (eCO 2 RR) to various products, such as carbon monoxide (CO), is crucial for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and enabling renewable energy storage. In this article, we introduce Pd nanoparticles which are deposited over in-house synthesized nitrogen doped tubular carbon (NC) whose ends are blocked with cobalt oxide (CoOx). This composite material is denoted as Pd@CoOx/NC. Among the series of synthesized electrocatalysts, the optimum ratio (Pd@CoOx/NC1) within this category exhibits exceptional performance, manifesting an 81% faradaic efficiency (FE) for CO generation which was quantitatively measured using a gas chromatograph. This remarkable efficiency can be attributed to several scientific factors. Firstly, the presence of Pd nanoparticles provides active sites for CO 2 reduction. Secondly, the NC offer enhanced electrical conductivity and facilitate charge transfer during the reaction. Thirdly, the CoOx capping at the ends of the NC serves to stabilize the catalyst, favoring the formation of CO. The remarkable selectivity of the catalyst is further confirmed by the qualitative CO detection method using PdCl 2 strips. Pd@CoOx/NC1 exhibits a high current density of 55 mA cm -2 and a low overpotential of 251 mV, outperforming Pd decorated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (Pd@MWCNTs) which shows a higher overpotential of 481 mV. Pd@CoOx/NC1 shows long-term stability at different potentials and rapid reaction kinetics. Effective identification and usage of genetic variation are prerequisites for developing nutrient-efficient cultivars. A collection of 94 safflower (Carthamus tinctorius ) genotypes (G) was investigated for important morphological and photosynthetic traits at four nitrogen (N) treatments. We found significant variation for all the studied traits except chlorophyll b (chl b ) among safflower genotypes, nitrogen treatments and G×N interaction. The examined traits showed a 2.82-50.00% increase in response to N application. Biological yield (BY) reflected a significantly positive correlation with fresh shoot weight (FSW), root length (RL), fresh root weight (FRW) and number of leaves (NOL), while a significantly positive correlation was also observed among carotenoids (C), chlorophyll a (chl a ), chl b and total chlorophyll content (CT) under all treatments. Superior genotypes with respect to plant height (PH), FSW, NOL, RL, FRW and BY were clustered into Group 3, while genotypes with better mean performance regarding chl a , chl b C and CT were clustered into Group 2 as observed in principal component analysis. The identified eight best-performing genotypes could be useful to develop improved nitrogen efficient cultivars. Genome-wide association analysis resulted in 32 marker-trait associations (MTAs) under four treatments. Markers namely DArT-45481731 , DArT-17812864 , DArT-15670279 and DArT-45482737 were found consistent. Protein-protein interaction networks of loci associated with MTAs were related to fatty acid and branched-chain amino acid metabolism and histone modifications.

Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is a highly recalcitrant plant under in vitro conditions that can be overcome by employing external stimuli. Hemp seeds were primed with 2.0-3.0% hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) followed by culture under different Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) sources. Priming seeds with 2.0% yielded relatively high germination rate, growth, and other biochemical and enzymatic activities. The LED lights exerted a variable impact on Cannabis germination and enzymatic activities. Similarly, variable responses were observed for H 2 O 2  × Blue-LEDs combination. The results were also analyzed by multiple regression analysis, followed by an investigation of the impact of both factors by Pareto chart and normal plots. The results were optimized by contour and surface plots for all parameters. Response surface optimizer optimized 2.0% H 2 O 2  × 918 LUX LEDs for maximum scores of all output parameters. The results were predicted by employing Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), Random Forest (RF), and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithms. Moreover, the validity of these models was assessed by using six different performance metrics. MLP performed better than RF and XGBoost models, considering all six-performance metrics. Despite the differences in scores, the performance indicators for all examined models were quite close to each other. It can easily be concluded that all three models are capable of predicting and validating data for cannabis seeds primed with H 2 O 2 and grown under different LED lights., (© 2024. Rice is an important diet source for the majority of the world's population, and meeting the growing need for rice requires significant improvements at the production level. Hybrid rice production has been a significant breakthrough in this regard, and the floral traits play a major role in the development of hybrid rice. In grass species, rice has structural units called florets and spikelets and contains different floret organs such as lemma, palea, style length, anther, and stigma exsertion. These floral organs are crucial in enhancing rice production and uplifting rice cultivation at a broader level. Recent advances in breeding techniques also provide knowledge about different floral organs and how they can be improved by using biotechnological techniques for better production of rice. The rice flower holds immense significance and is the primary focal point for researchers working on rice molecular biology. Furthermore, the unique genetics of rice play a significant role in maintaining its floral structure. However, to improve rice varieties further, we need to identify the genomic regions through mapping of QTLs (quantitative trait loci) or by using GWAS (genome-wide association studies) and their validation should be performed by developing user-friendly molecular markers, such as Kompetitive allele-specific PCR (KASP). This review outlines the role of different floral traits and the benefits of using modern biotechnological approaches to improve hybrid rice production. It focuses on how floral traits are interrelated and their possible contribution to hybrid rice production to satisfy future rice demand. We discuss the significance of different floral traits, techniques, and breeding approaches in hybrid rice production. We provide a historical perspective of hybrid rice production and its current status and outline the challenges and opportunities in this field.

Objectives . This article aims to prompt first-line workers to go beyond regular job roles and engage in more discretionary safety behavior-safety participation in the Chinese construction industry. The construction industry is a high-risk industry, and first-line workers are more likely to be exposed to workplace hazards. Once accidents happen, the negative consequences would come out. Therefore, employee voluntary safety behavior is focused on in this research. Methods . The present research framework examines the roles of safety leadership and safety management practices from the group and organizational perspectives in predicting the voluntary safety behavior (safety participation) of first-line workers in the Chinese construction industry through casual-chain mediators (safety climate and job satisfaction). In this study, partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is adopted for data analysis and hypotheses testing. Results . After data analysis, the results show that safety leadership and safety management practices are significantly and positively associated with safety participation of first-line workers through safety climate and job satisfaction. Moreover, safety management practices have a more statistical effect on safety climate compared to safety leadership.  Conclusions . These results provide some practical implications for facilitating the workers to conduct safety participation inthe construction industry.

This article provides a comprehensive review of the current trends and challenges in the development of 3D-printed heart valves and other cardiac implants. By providing personalized solutions and pushing the limits of regenerative medicine, 3D printing technology has revolutionized the field of cardiac healthcare. The use of several organic and synthetic polymers in 3D printing heart valves is explored in this article, with emphasis on both their benefits and drawbacks. In cardiac tissue engineering, stem cells are essential, and their potential to lessen immunological rejection and thrombogenic consequences is highlighted. In the clinical applications section, the article emphasizes the importance of 3D printing in preoperative planning. Surgery results are enhanced when surgeons can visualize and assess the size and placement of implants using patient-specific anatomical models. Customized implants that are designed to match the anatomy of a particular patient reduce the likelihood of complications and enhance postoperative results. The development of physiologically active cardiac implants, made possible by 3D bioprinting, shows promise by eliminating the need for artificial valves. Cardiac diseases are a primary cause of mortality worldwide, underscoring the importance of early identification and risk stratification to enhance patient outcomes. Biomarkers have become important tools for the risk assessment of cardiovascular disease and monitoring disease progression. This narrative review focuses on the multiple-marker approach, which involves simultaneously evaluating several biomarkers for the early detection and risk stratification of heart diseases. The review covers the clinical applications of novel biomarkers, such as high-sensitivity troponin, galectin-3, source of tumorigenicity 2, B-type natriuretic peptide and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide, growth differentiation factor 15, myeloperoxidase, fatty acid-binding protein, C-reactive protein, lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2, microRNAs, circulating endothelial cells, and ischemia-modified albumin. These biomarkers have demonstrated potential in identifying people who are at high risk for developing heart disease and in providing prognostic data. Given the complexity of cardiac illnesses, the multiple-marker approach to risk assessment is extremely beneficial. Background: Upland cotton is one of the utmost significant strategic fiber crops, and play a vital role in the global textile industry., Methods and Results: A total of 128 genotypes comprised Gossypium hirsutum L, Gossypium barbadense L., and pure lines were used to examine genetic diversity using iPBS-retrotransposon markers system. Eleven highly polymorphic primers yielded 287 bands and 99.65% polymorphism was recorded. The mean polymorphism information content was estimated at 0.297 and the average diversity indices for the effective number of alleles, Shannon's information index, and overall gene diversity were 1.481, 0.443, and 0.265, respectively. The analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) revealed that 69% of the genetic variation was within the population. A model-based STRUCTURE algorithm divided the entire germplasm into four populations and one un-classified population, the genotypes G42 (originating in Egypt) and G128 (originating in the United States), showed the highest genetic distance (0.996) so these genotypes could be suggested for breeding programs as parental lines., Conclusions: This is the first investigation using an iPBS-retrotransposon marker system to examine the genetic diversity and population structure of upland cotton germplasm. The rich diversity found in upland cotton germplasm could be exploited as a genetic resource when developing breeding programs and could also help with efforts to breed cotton around the world. Fruit bars are prepared by combining different ingredients which are wholesome and nutrient rich. The current study was designed to develop roselle-fig (different proportions) fruit bars and further investigate their physicochemical characteristics and antioxidant potential. Moreover, the prepared fruit bars were scrutinized for microbial and sensory characteristics to assess the appropriateness of ingredients during storage (up to 90 days). It was observed that there was gradual increase in moisture content with the passage of time, while ash, fat, fiber, and protein contents did not change significantly during storage. The pH and total soluble solid contents of these fruit bars during storage were 3.54-4.07 and 1.71-1.86 Brix, respectively. According to the mean values for sensory evaluation, T 2 was preferred over other treatments. The bars received an acceptable sensory evaluation, demonstrating that they were suitable for 90 days of storage. Phytochemical quantities significantly increased in subsequent treatments, but decreased during storage in all the treatments. Similar trend was observed regarding total antioxidant and DPPH radical scavenging activities. The mineral contents increased significantly among the treatments. The microbial analysis of fruit bars exposed that the fruit were microbiologically safe. Hence, on the basis of the results obtained in this study, it may be concluded that the developed roselle-fig fruit bar would be acceptable and nutritious regarding physicochemical characteristics, microbiological quality, and antioxidant potential., Competing Interests: All authors have no conflict of interest., (© 2023 The Authors. A highly efficient and stable electrocatalyst comprised of yttrium oxide (Y 2 O 3 ) and palladium nanoparticles has been synthesized via a sodium borohydride reduction approach. The molar ratio of Pd and Y was varied to fabricate various electrocatalysts and the oxidation reaction of formic acid was checked. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) are used to characterize the synthesized catalysts. Among the synthesized catalysts (Pd y Y x /rGO), the optimized catalyst i.e. , Pd 6 Y 4 /rGO exhibits the highest current density (106 mA cm -2 ) and lowest onset potential compared to Pd/rGO (28.1 mA cm -2 ) and benchmark Pd/C (21.7 mA cm -2 ). The addition of Y 2 O 3 to the rGO surface results in electrochemically active sites due to the improved geometric structure and bifunctional components. The electrochemically active surface area 119.4 m 2 g -1 is calculated for Pd 6 Y 4 /rGO, which is ∼1.108, ∼1.24, ∼1.47 and 1.55 times larger than Pd 4 Y 6 /rGO, Pd 2 Y 8 /rGO, Pd/C and Pd/rGO, respectively. The redesigned Pd structures on Y 2 O 3 -promoted rGO give exceptional stability and enhanced resistance to CO poisoning. Surgery is usually required to treat colorectal cancer (CRC). Medical technology has advanced, providing various approaches to tackle this disease. Different surgeries are available, such as laparoscopic surgery, single-incision laparoscopic surgery, natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery. Laparoscopic surgery has several benefits including reduced blood loss and shorter recovery time. It can also improve lung function and minimize complications. However, it requires more time to perform and has a higher risk of complications during the procedure. Robotic surgery provides a three-dimensional view of the surgical area allowing for greater precision in rectal surgeries and access to difficult-to-reach pelvic regions. This method utilizes robotics technology which reduces surgical time and speeds up recovery for patients. There are various surgical options available for treating CRC; however, laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery offer unique advantages despite their own drawbacks. As technology continues to evolve, medical techniques will continue improving existing methods while providing new options resulting in better outcomes for patients. Compared to laparoscopy, robotic surgery has a lower rate of operative conversions and a shorter learning curve. However, it also has some drawbacks, such as a longer docking time, lack of tactile sensation, and higher cost. Therefore, the choice of surgical method should depend on patient characteristics, surgeon preference and expertise, and available resources. Sorghum is emerging as a model crop for functional genetics and genomics of tropical grasses with abundant uses, including food, feed, and fuel, among others. It is currently the fifth most significant primary cereal crop. Crops are subjected to various biotic and abiotic stresses, which negatively impact on agricultural production. Developing high-yielding, disease-resistant, and climate-resilient cultivars can be achieved through marker-assisted breeding. The aim of this meta-analysis was to compare clinical outcomes between those who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) alone and CABG with mitral valve repair (MVR) in patients with moderate ischemic mitral regurgitation. The present study was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Two authors performed a comprehensive search of international databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library, for relevant studies published from inception to March 1, 2023. The search was performed again before the submission of the manuscript on March 20, 2023. Primary outcomes assessed in the present meta-analysis included early mortality and long-term mortality. Secondary outcomes assessed in the present meta-analysis included change in New York Heart Association (NYHA) score from baseline, change in ejection fraction (EF) from baseline (%), and major cardiovascular events (MACE). A total of 13 studies were included in the present meta-analysis. Out of 13 included studies, four were randomized control trials (RCTs) and nine were retrospective cohort studies. The pooled analysis showed that early mortality was significantly lower in patients in the CABG group compared to the CABG+MVR group (risk ratio [RR]: 0.47, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.31, 0.70). Long-term mortality was also lower in patients who underwent CABG compared to patients in the CABG+MVR group. However, the difference was statistically insignificant (RR: 0.88, 95% CI: 0.77, 1.02). No significant differences were reported in the EF score between patients who underwent CABG and patients who underwent CABG plus MVR (mean difference [MD]: 0.40, 95% CI: -1.90, 2.69). NYHA score was significantly lower in patients in the CABG+repair group compared to the CABG alone group (MD: 0.39, 95% CI: 0.06, 0.72). In conclusion, our meta-analysis suggests that concomitant MVR during CABG may not improve clinical outcomes in patients with moderate ischemic mitral regurgitation. Citrus viroid infection is emerging as a serious threat because of its efficient systemic movement within the host plant and its quick spread due to contaminated pruning tools. A survey was conducted to investigate the primary distribution and molecular characterization of Citrus bent leaf viroid (CBLVd) and its variants in different citrus cultivars. A total of 154 symptomatic citrus samples were collected and detected by RT‒PCR with newly designed specific primers with the incidence of 36.33%. During biological indexing study on Etrog citron, expressions of reduced leaf size, yellowing with a light green pattern, and bending were observed. Amplified products were sequenced and analyzed using a nucleotide BLAST search, which showed 98% homology with other CBLVd isolates. The results of the phylogenetic tree analysis showed the presence of two main groups (A and B), with the predominant variants of CBLVd, i.e., CVd-I-LSS (Citrus viroid Low Sequence Similarity) sequences, clustering in subgroup A1 along with newly detected CVd-I-LSS from Palestinian sweet lime (Citrus limettioides), which has been identified as a new host of CVd-I-LSS in Pakistan. Further analysis of the sequences in subgroup A1 showed that the variant of CVd-I-LSS infecting citrus cultivars had a close relationship with isolates reported from China, Japan, and Iran, which may have resulted from the exchange of planting material. This study also unveiled the variability in nucleotide sequences of CBLVd, which made it unable to be detected by old primers. The results of this study indicate that the widespread presence of divergent variants of CBLVd is a major concern for the citrus industry in Pakistan and other countries where virulent isolates of CBLVd are prevalent. The agriculture sector is a traditional economic pillar of many emerging economies. However, it is facing greater occupational health and safety (OHS) challenges in Pakistan, and its performance is continuously decreasing. An effective OHS implementation provides better control over OHS challenges and may help to restore its former glory. Therefore, this study aims to explore different organizational decision-making styles and safety accountability to put OHS into practice in this sector. Based on institutional theory, a theoretical framework was developed. Two hundred and eighty-seven agriculture farms in Punjab, Pakistan were surveyed and analyzed using SmartPLS 3.3.7. The findings revealed that implementation styles (rational and incremental) and safety accountability positively impact OHS implementation. Similarly, the moderating role of mimetic motives was found positively significant in the relationship between rational style and OHS implementation, and negatively significant in the relationship between incremental style and OHS implementation. While no moderating effect of mimetic motive was found between safety accountability and OHS implementation. This study suggested that OHS implementation should not be viewed as a social or technical issue alone. Layered double hydroxides (LDH) are potential electrocatalysts to address the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER) of water splitting. In this work, copper oxide (CuO/Cu 2 O) nanoparticles are integrated with cobalt-manganese layered double hydroxide (CoMn-LDH) to enhance their performance towards OER. The catalyst is synthesized by growing CoMn-LDH nanosheets in the presence of CuO/Cu 2 O nanoparticles that were obtained by the calcination of the copper containing metal-organic framework (HKUST-1). The synthesized CoMn-LDH@CuO/Cu 2 O electrocatalyst shows excellent activity towards OER with an overpotential of 297 mV at a catalytic current density of 10 mA cm -2 and have a Tafel slope value of 89 mV dec -1 . Moreover, a slight decrease in the performance parameters is observed until the 15 h of continuous operation. The urea oxidation reaction (UOR) is considered to be a replacement of the sluggish anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in overall water-splitting. A three-dimensional (3D) nickel-containing metal-organic framework {[Ni II 2 (pdaa)(OH) 2 (H 2 O)] n (MOF 1) (where, H 2 pdaa = 1,4-phenylene diacetic acid) was investigated as a robust and highly efficient electrocatalyst for the UOR. MOF 1 comprised 1D nickel(ii) chains crosslinked through Ni 4 O 4 cubane units to form a 3D extended network. Dangling Ni⋯OH - (in contrast to 1.84 V for the oxygen evolution reaction). The overpotential required to attain a catalytic current density of 10 mA cm -1 (in contrast to 1.84 V for the oxygen evolution reaction). The overpotential required to attain a catalytic current density of 10 mA cm -2 was 1.24 V, which is much lower than that for many materials. Controlled potential electrolysis, powder X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy affirmed the physicochemical integrity of the catalyst over a 17 h test reaction. The world is facing rapid climate change and a fast-growing global population. It is believed that the world population will be 9.7 billion in 2050. However, recent agriculture production is not enough to feed the current population of 7.9 billion people, which is causing a huge hunger problem. Therefore, feeding the 9.7 billion population in 2050 will be a huge target. Climate change is becoming a huge threat to global agricultural production, and it is expected to become the worst threat to it in the upcoming years. Keeping this in view, it is very important to breed climate-resilient plants. Legumes are considered an important pillar of the agriculture production system and a great source of high-quality protein, minerals, and vitamins. During the last two decades, advancements in OMICs technology revolutionized plant breeding and emerged as a crop-saving tool in wake of the climate change. Various OMICs approaches like Next-Generation sequencing (NGS), Transcriptomics, Proteomics, and Metabolomics have been used in legumes under abiotic stresses. The scientific community successfully utilized these platforms and investigated the Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL), linked markers through genome-wide association studies, and developed KASP markers that can be helpful for the marker-assisted breeding of legumes. Gene-editing techniques have been successfully proven for soybean, cowpea, chickpea, and model legumes such as Medicago truncatula and Lotus japonicus . A number of efforts have been made to perform gene editing in legumes. Moreover, the scientific community did a great job of identifying various genes involved in the metabolic pathways and utilizing the resulted information in the development of climate-resilient legume cultivars at a rapid pace. Cysteine-rich poly comb-like protein ( CPP ) is a member of cysteine-rich transcription factors that regulates plant growth and development. In the present work, we characterized twelve CPP transcription factors encoding genes in soybean ( Glycine max ). Phylogenetic analyses classified CPP genes into six clades. Sequence logos analyses between G. max and G. soja amino acid residues exhibited high conservation. The presence of growth and stress-related cis -acting elements in the upstream regions of GmCPPs highlight their role in plant development and tolerance against abiotic stress. Ka/Ks levels showed that GmCPPs experienced limited selection pressure with limited functional divergence arising from segmental or whole genome duplication events. By using the PAN-genome of soybean, a single nucleotide polymorphism was identified in GmCPP-6 . To perform high throughput genotyping, a kompetitive allele-specific PCR (KASP) marker was developed. Association analyses indicated that GmCPP-6-T allele of GmCPP-6 (in exon region) was associated with higher thousand seed weight under both water regimes (well-water and water-limited). Common bean is considered a recalcitrant crop for in vitro regeneration and needs a repeatable and efficient in vitro regeneration protocol for its improvement through biotechnological approaches. In this study, the establishment of efficient and reproducible in vitro regeneration followed by predicting and optimizing through machine learning (ML) models, such as artificial neural network algorithms, was performed. Mature embryos of common bean were pretreated with 5, 10, and 20 mg/L benzylaminopurine (BAP) for 20 days followed by isolation of plumular apice for in vitro regeneration and cultured on a post-treatment medium containing 0.25, 0.50, 1.0, and 1.50 mg/L BAP for 8 weeks. Plumular apice explants pretreated with 20 mg/L BAP exerted a negative impact and resulted in minimum shoot regeneration frequency and shoot count, but produced longer shoots. All output variables (shoot regeneration frequency, shoot counts, and shoot length) increased significantly with the enhancement of BAP concentration in the post-treatment medium. Interaction of the pretreatment × post-treatment medium revealed the need for a specific combination for inducing a high shoot regeneration frequency. Higher shoot count and shoot length were achieved from the interaction of 5 mg/L BAP × 1.00 mg/L BAP followed by 10 mg/L BAP × 1.50 mg/L BAP and 20 mg/L BAP × 1.50 mg/L BAP. The evaluation of data through ML models revealed that R 2 values ranged from 0.32 to 0.58 (regeneration), 0.01 to 0.22 (shoot counts), and 0.18 to 0.48 (shoot length). On the other hand, the mean squared error values ranged from 0.0596 to 0.0965 for shoot regeneration, 0.0327 to 0.0412 for shoot count, and 0.0258 to 0.0404 for shoot length from all ML models. Among the utilized models, the multilayer perceptron model provided a better prediction and optimization for all output variables, compared to other models. Many researchers are currently showing interest in researching consumers who are purchasing the products with the help of new tools, and new kinds of markets are emerging rapidly. M-commerce is a prevalent mode of marketing and is famous among young people of Pakistan. Current research is planned to check the status of consumer purchase intentions (PIs) using perceived influence, virtual interactivity, brand image, and brand expected value among customers who purchase their products with the help of m-commerce. Data was collected from customers who were engaged in buying with the help of m-commerce by using the convenience sampling technique and 227 complete questionnaires were used in final analysis. This research examines the direct impact of perceived influence, virtual interactivity, brand image, and brand expected value on PIs and finds the indirect effect of brand image and brand expected value on the relationships of perceived influence and virtual interactivity with PIs. Results indicate that all the hypotheses of direct relationships are accepted except the hypothesis for the relation of virtual interactivity with consumer PIs. Virtual interactivity has an insignificant positive impact on consumer PIs. Brand expected value has a strong positive effect on consumer PIs among all. Introduction The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic left a profound and pervasive impact on the healthcare infrastructure on a global scale. Since its onset, the pattern of reported cases and its associated mortality had shown variability with intermittent peaks causing a significant effect on the psychological well-being of the surgeons of Pakistan. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental well-being of surgeons in Pakistan. Methods This multicenter cross-sectional study was carried out to assess the impact of COVID-19 on the psychological well-being of surgeons in Pakistan. The validated Self-Reporting Questionnaire-20 (SRQ-20) tool was circulated electronically via Google Forms (Google, Inc., Mountain View, CA, USA) in the practicing surgical fraternity across all five regions of Pakistan, i.e., Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Results This study showed that the female gender, having fewer years of working experience, non-satisfaction with the available personal protective equipment (PPE), and working in the public sector were the factors affecting the psychological well-being of surgeons during the pandemic. Conclusion Considering the continuous rise in new cases during the ongoing pandemic, the mental health of surgeons working in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) such as Pakistan has been significantly affected. Background: Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is an old oilseed crop with a 1.4 GB genome size and its flowers are used for food coloring, dyes and pharmaceutical industries. It was domesticated from its putative wild ancestor Carthamus palestinus about forty-five hundred years ago in the fertile crescent region.The current study was aimed to determine the genetic diversity, population structure and to check the applicability of iPBS-retrotransposons markers., Methods and Results: Eleven POGP primers yielded 70 bands of which 61 were highly polymorphic with 87.14% polymorphism. A great level of genetic variation was examined with higher values of overall gene diversity (0.27), genetic distance (0.53), number of effective alleles (1.46), Shannon's information index (0.41) and polymorphism information contents (0.71). Analysis of molecular variance revealed high genetic variation with 79% within the population. The STRUCTURE, PCoA and Neighbor-joining analysis separated the safflower germplasm into 2 major populations and 1 un-classified population. The accessions which were from Asian countries i.e., China, Afghanistan, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan were genetically similar and clustered together in both populations A and B. The maximum genetic distance was measured 0.88 between Pakistan 26 x Pakistan 24., Conclusion: Findings of this research such as maximum diversity indices, higher PIC values showed the effectiveness and utility of POGP markers for the evaluation of genetic relationships among safflower accessions. The results of this study also showed that POGP markers are less effective compared to ISSRs, iPBS-retrotransposons and DArTSeq markers. AMOVA showed high genetic variation (79%) within a population and maximum genetic distance was found between the accessions Pakistan 26- Pakistan 24 and may be suggested as candidate parents for future breeding activities of safflower. The accessions from the fertile crescent region were clustered together and proved the origin of safflower domestication. Information regarding the germination and seedling growth behavior of a potential weed species is an important tool to manage weeds without the use of agricultural chemicals that cause harmful effects on human health and the environment. A series of experiments were directed to investigate the influence of different environmental factors (temperature, pH, NaCl, moisture stress, and seed burial depth) on germination and seedling emergence of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) under controlled conditions. Results suggested that 25 °C is the optimum temperature for maximum germination (95%) and seedling growth of perennial ryegrass, however, a quick decline was observed at 35 °C. Seed germination was unaffected by pH levels ranging from 5 to 10. The 92% seed germination was recorded where no salt stress was applied and germination was reduced by 87% at 250 mMNaCl concentration. Seed germination was unaffected by osmotic potential ranges from 0 to - 0.4 MPa thereafter declined and completely inhibited at - 0.8 or - 1.0 MPa. No seed emerged at the soil surface or a soil depth of 6 or 7 cm and 90% emergence occurred at 1 cmsoil depth. The germination and seedlings parameters like time to initial germination, mean germination time, time taken to 50% germination and germination index, root and shoot length, and fresh and dry weight of root and shoot are significantly affected with the environmental factors. Magnesium (Mg) is the fourth most abundant element in the human body and plays the role of cofactor for more than 300 enzymatic reactions. In plants, Mg is involved in various key physiological and biochemical processes like growth, development, photophosphorylation, chlorophyll formation, protein synthesis, and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Keeping in view the importance of this element, the present investigation aimed to explore the Mg contents diversity in the seeds of Turkish common bean germplasm and to identify the genomic regions associated with this element. A total of 183 common bean accessions collected from 19 provinces of Turkey were used as plant material. Field experiments were conducted according to an augmented block design during 2018 in two provinces of Turkey, and six commercial cultivars were used as a control group. Analysis of variance depicted that Mg concentration among common bean accessions was statistically significant ( p < 0.05) within each environment, however genotype × environment interaction was non-significant. A moderate level (0.60) of heritability was found in this study. Overall mean Mg contents for both environments varied from 0.33 for Nigde-Dermasyon to 1.52 mg kg -1 for Nigde-Derinkuyu landraces, while gross mean Mg contents were 0.92 mg kg -1 . At the province level, landraces from Bolu were rich while the landraces from Bitlis were poor in seed Mg contents respectively. The cluster constellation plot divided the studied germplasm into two populations on the basis of their Mg contents. Marker-trait association was performed using a mixed linear model (Q + K) with a total of 7,900 DArTseq markers. A total of six markers present on various chromosomes (two at Pv01, and one marker at each chromosome i.e., Pv03, Pv07, Pv08, Pv11) showed statistically significant association for seed Mg contents. Among these identified markers, the DArT-3367607 marker present on chromosome Pv03 contributed to maximum phenotypic variation (7.5%). Additionally, this marker was found within a narrow region of previously reported markers. Weeds cause a serious constraint to wheat productivity. Chemical weed control is considered the most effective method to control weeds; however, a suitable dose and combination of herbicide with adjuvants play a vital role in controlling weeds and producing maximum wheat production. A field study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of various doses of metribuzin alone or in combination with adjuvants [Bio-power (alkyl ether sulfates and sodium salts) and Ad-500 (fatty alcohol ethoxylate)] on the growth and yield of wheat and its associated weeds. Metribuzin at 175, 140, and 105 g a.i ha -1 , each in combination with adjuvants (Bio-power or Ad-500) at 400 ml ha -1 , were sprayed. A weedy check was also included as a control treatment. The wheat crop was infested with Fumaria indica , Melilotus indica , Anagallis arvensis , and Phalaris minor , and metribuzin with or without adjuvant was sprayed at two- to four-leaf stage of the weeds. The photosynthetic activity, weed population of each weed, and biomass of each weed was significantly affected by all herbicides along with the adjuvant. However, maximum inhibition of tested weeds was observed where metribuzin at 175 g a.i ha -1 + Bio-power at 400 ml ha -1 were sprayed. Metribuzin sprayed at 175 g a.i ha -1 with or without Bio-power recorded a maximum 1,000-grain weight, biological yield, and grain yield. Due to increased industrialization, arsenic (As) in the soil has become a serious issue for wheat production since past few decades. We investigated the role of Azospirillum brasilense and trans-zeatin riboside (tZR) in the mitigation of arsenic toxicity in wheat for 2 years (2018-2019 and 2019-2020) in pot experiments. Wheat plants grown in soil artificially spiked with arsenic (50, 70, and 100 μM) was left alone or amended with A. brasilense, tZR, or their combination as mitigation strategies. A treatment without arsenic or amendments was maintained as control. Arsenic-induced physiological damages were noticed in the wheat plants. Detrimental effects on the plant physiological functions, such as disruption of cell membrane stability, reduced water uptake, and stomatal functions, were noticed with increase in As toxicity. Application of biological amendments reversed the effects of As toxicity by increasing wheat plant growth rate, leaf area, and photosynthesis and also yield. Therefore, application of tZR and wheat seed inoculation with A. brasilense could be a sustainable and environmentally friendly strategy to mitigate arsenic-induced crop physiological damages., (© 2021. Indian squash (Praecitrullus fistulosus) crop faces heat and drought during its growth that is considered the most important abiotic stress in semi-arid areas. Seed priming with growth regulators enhances stress tolerance; hence, mitigates the adverse effects of unpredictable stresses due to adverse weather conditions. This two-year (2019 and 2020) study was conducted to infer the role of seed priming in improving heat tolerance of Indian squash (cultivar Sahavi) through improvement in physiological and antioxidant defense systems. Six treatments that included no priming (control), hydropriming, priming with indole acetic acid (IAA) at 100 mg L-1, salicylic acid (SA) at 50 mg L-1, ascorbic acid (AA) at 100 mg L-1 and thiourea at 500 mg L-1 each for 06 hours) were included in the study. Results revealed that priming with AA and SA significantly (P ≤ 0.05) enhanced germination (39 and 47%), germination index (57 and 58%), plant height (23 and 22%), vine length (15 and 14%), number of fruits per plant (62%), fruit weight per plant (66 and 67%), economic yield (32%), photosynthesis rate (18 and 17%), protein content (10%), proline (23%), glycine betaine (3%), malondialdehyde content (11 and 10%) and catalase activity (24%) compared to control treatment. Furthermore, seed priming with AA and SA significantly (P ≤ 0.05) shortened the mean germination time (25 and 28%) compared to the control. The results indicated that AA and SA had significant potential to mitigate adverse effects of heat stress in Indian squash. Background: Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora Ducke), which has a great demand due to its essential oil globally, is an evergreen tree of the Amazon forests. Rosewood natural stands have been depleted through deforestation and the destruction of habitat. Currently, rosewood is included in the ICUN red list of endangered species., Methods and Results: The 11 highly polymorphic primers amplified total 305 bands of which 301 (98.69%) were polymorphic. The number of effective alleles (Ne), Shannon's information index (I), overall gene diversity (Ht), gene diversity (h), and polymorphism information content (PIC) were (1.562), (0.505), (0.330), (0.337) and (0.343), respectively. These diversity indices explored high genetic diversity in rosewood germplasm. Among studied germplasm, the Santa Marta population was found most diverse by reflecting higher values of diversity indices while the Zungarococha population was found least diverse. The analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) revealed that 79% of the genetic variation was within the populations. The STRUCTURE algorithm, unweighted pair group with arithmetic mean (UPGMA), and principal coordinate's analysis (PCoA) separated all germplasms into different population groups according to their geographic locations. Santa Marta population was found more diverse by reflecting higher values of diversity indices. The maximum genetic distance (0.868) was found between the Huajoya-10 and Nanay-3. In this investigation, iPBS- retrotransposon marker system was used to explore the genetic diversity of Peruvian rosewood germplasm., Conclusions: The results in this study such as higher genetic diversity indices, AMOVA (79%) within population and PIC value (0.343) showed the utility and reproducibility of iPBS-retrotransposons in this species successfully. The omics approaches allow the scientific community to successfully identify genomic regions associated with traits of interest for marker-assisted breeding. Agronomic traits such as seed color, yield, growth habit, and stress tolerance have been the targets for soybean molecular breeding. Genes governing these traits often undergo post-transcriptional modifications, which should be taken into consideration when choosing elite genes for molecular breeding. Post-transcriptional regulations of genes include transcript regulations, protein modifications, and even the regulation of the translational machinery. Transcript regulations involve elements such as microRNAs (miRNAs) and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) for the maintenance of transcript stability or regulation of translation efficiency. Protein modifications involve molecular modifications of target proteins and the alterations of their interacting partners. Regulations of the translational machinery include those on translation factors and the ribosomal protein complex. Post-transcriptional regulations usually involve a set of genes instead of a single gene. Such a property may facilitate molecular breeding. In this review, we will discuss the post-transcriptional modifications of genes related to favorable agronomic traits such as stress tolerance, growth, and nutrient uptake, using examples from soybean as well as other crops. The potato is one of the most important and valuable crops in terms of consumption worldwide. However, abiotic stressors are the critical delimiters for the growth and productivity of potato. Invertase genes play key roles in carbon metabolism, plant development, and responses to stress stimuli. Therefore, a comprehensive genome-wide identification, characterization and expression analysis of invertase genes was performed in the potato. The current study identified 19 invertase genes, randomly distributed throughout the potato genome. To further elucidate their evolutionary, functional and structural relationship within family and with other plant species, we performed sequence and phylogenetic analysis, which segregated invertase genes into two main groups based on their sequence homology. A total of 11 genes are included in acidic invertases and 8 genes are in neutral or alkaline invertases, elucidating their functional divergence. Tissue specific expression analyses (RNA sequencing and qRT-PCR) of different plant tissues showed differential expression pattern. Invertase genes have higher expression in flower, leaf, root and shoot tissues, while under abiotic stress conditions, the expression of the invertase gene is significantly upregulated. Results of this study revealed that vacuolar and cell wall destined invertases are mainly the functional member genes of the invertase family. This study provides comprehensive data and knowledge about StINV genes in Solanum tuberosum for future genetic and epigenetic studies.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the incidence of service failure in rendering service process during COVID-19. It further explores the outcomes of service recovery offered to customers in case of service failure. Like other businesses, webstores have also faced the challenges in their efforts to satisfy their customers during COVID-19. Service failure has increased due to unexpected circumstances produced by this pandemic. It has become necessary for the webstores to retain their dissatisfied customers by reconsidering their service strategies. Relevant data for the purpose of this study were collected through questionnaires from 383 respondents by using online channels. The online channels were exclusively employed for maintaining the safety of respondents during COVID-19. Respondents for this study were online shoppers who encountered service failure during COVID-19. The results indicated that the incidence of service failure has increased due to an increase in online shopping during COVID-19. Some customers tend to repurchase from the same webstore. On the other hand, some customers do not want to purchase again from the same seller and decided to switch to the alternative webstore. Based on the findings, new strategy for online shopping service providers was introduced. This strategy will be helpful for the online service providers to increase their profitability by retaining their dissatisfied customers. Service providers can minimize the number of customers switching to other webstores by reducing the events of service failure. Customer's assistive intent can also be helpful for service providers to increase the efficiency of service recovery. Conducting a proper follow-up after providing service recovery can also reduce the switching of customer. The domain of the unknown function 221 proteins regulate several processes in plants, including development, growth, hormone transduction mechanism, and abiotic stress response. Therefore, a comprehensive analysis of the potato genome was conducted to identify the deafness-dystonia peptide (DDP) proteins' role in potatoes. In the present study, we performed a genome-wide analysis of the potato domain of the unknown function 221 (DUF221) genes, including phylogenetic inferences, chromosomal locations, gene duplications, gene structures, and expression analysis. In our results, we identified 10 DDP genes in the potato genome. The phylogenetic analysis results indicated that StDDPs genes were distributed in all four clades, and clade IV was the largest clade. The gene duplication under selection pressure analysis indicated various positive and purifying selections in StDDP genes. The putative stu-miRNAs from different families targeting StDDPs were also predicted in the present study. Promoter regions of StDDP genes contain different cis -acting components involved in multiple stress responses, such as phytohormones and abiotic stress-responsive factors. The analysis of the tissue-specific expression profiling indicated the StDDPs gene expression in stem, root, and leaf tissues. We subsequently observed that StDDP4 , StDDP5 , and StDDP8 showed higher expressions in roots, stems, and leaves. StDDP5 exhibited high expression against heat stress response, and StDDP7 showed high transcript abundance against salt stress in potatoes. Under abscisic acid (ABA) and indole acetic acid (IAA) treatments, seven StDDP genes' expressions indicated that ABA and IAA performed important roles in immunity response. The expression profiling and real-time qPCR of stems, roots, and leaves revealed StDDPs' significant role in growth and development.
