In this study considering total suspended solids (TSS) parameter monitored in a stream watershed, the predictability of upstream values from downstream data was investigated using regression analysis, which were applied to linear, power, exponential, and quadratic functions, and artificial neural networks (ANNs) method. The data were obtained within the scope of sampling studies carried out 40 times between June 2019 and March 2020 at eight monitoring stations selected in the Sera Stream Watershed (Trabzon). The monitoring stations were divided into two groups as upstream, the first four, and downstream, the last four, stations. Half of downstream data (two stations) was used for training, a quarter (one station) for validation, and the rest (one station) for testing. Two models with different combinations of independent variables were established. In the first model (M1), only the TSS values, and in the other model (M2), the month and week information of the sampling dates were digitized and used as independent variables, in addition to the TSS values. Root mean square error, mean absolute error, and Nash-Sutcliffe (NS) efficiency coefficient statistics were used to evaluate the model and method performances. Compared to other functions, the power one had the best estimation results in the regression analysis. On the other hand, the ANNs method gave better results than the regression analysis. In both methods, M2 performed better overall. In the ANNs method, the NS efficiency coefficients obtained from M1 and M2 were calculated as 0.980 and 0.997, respectively, for the training, and 0.978 and 0.978, respectively, for the testing data sets. Considering the efficiency values, it has been understood that the use of date information as an independent variable will positively affect the model performance in the stream TSS modeling studies. Within the scope of this study, it has been concluded that upstream TSS values can be successfully estimated from downstream TSS data in stream watersheds., Bu çalışmada bir akarsu havzasında takibi yapılan askıda katı madde (AKM) konsantrasyonu kapsamında, mansap verilerinden memba değerlerinin tahmin edilebilirliği hem regresyon analizinin doğrusal, üs, üstel ve kuadratik fonksiyonlara uygulanması hem de yapay sinir ağları (YSA) yöntemi ile araştırılmıştır. Kullanılan veriler Sera Deresi Havzası’nda (Trabzon) seçilen sekiz gözlem istasyonunda Haziran 2019-Mart 2020 döneminde 40 kez gerçekleştirilen örnekleme çalışmaları kapsamında elde edilmiş AKM verileridir. İstasyonlar memba (ilk dördü) ve mansap (son dördü) olarak iki gruba ayrılmıştır. Mansap verilerinin %50’si (iki istasyon) eğitim, %25’i (bir istasyon) doğrulama ve kalan %25’i (bir istasyon) test aşamasında kullanılmıştır. Farklı bağımsız değişken kombinasyonlarına sahip iki model oluşturulmuş olup ilk modelde (M1) sadece AKM verileri, diğer modelde (M2) ise AKM verilerinin yanı sıra örnekleme tarihlerine ait ay ve hafta bilgileri sayısallaştırılmış ve kullanılmıştır. Modellerin ve yöntemlerin tahmin performanslarının değerlendirilmesinde ortalama karesel hatanın karekökü, ortalama mutlak hata ve Nash-Sutcliffe (NS) verimlilik katsayısı olmak üzere üç farklı istatistik kullanılmıştır. Regresyon analizinde en iyi tahmin sonuçları üs fonksiyondan elde edilmiş olup YSA yönteminin regresyon analizine kıyasla daha iyi sonuçlar verdiği belirlenmiştir. Her iki yöntemde de M2 genel olarak daha iyi bir performans göstermiştir. YSA yönteminde M1 ve M2’den hesap edilen NS verimlilik katsayıları eğitim veri seti için sırasıyla 0.980 ve 0.997 ve test veri seti için ise 0.978 ve 0.978 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Bu değerler ile AKM modelleme çalışmalarında, gerçek verilerin ait olduğu tarih bilgilerinin bağımsız değişken olarak kullanımının model performansını olumlu etkileyeceği anlaşılmıştır. Bu çalışma kapsamında, akarsu havzalarının mansap tarafı AKM verilerinden memba tarafı AKM değerlerinin başarılı bir şekilde tahmin edilebileceği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Kuraklık diğer doğal afetlerden farklı olarak gelişimi daha uzun zaman alan ve etkileri daha uzun süre devam eden bir afettir. Meydana gelmesi muhtemel bir kuraklığın önceden belirlenmesi, kuraklığın olumsuz etkilerinin daha etkili bir şekilde azaltılmasını mümkün kılmaktadır. Standartlaştırılmış Yağış İndeksi (SYİ) farklı iklim koşullarına sahip, farklı zaman dilimleri ve bölgeler arasındaki kuraklıkları tanımlamak için en sık kullanılan kuraklık indeksidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı almış olduğu yağış miktarı bakımından Türkiye’nin en önemli hidrolojik havzalarından biri olan Doğu Karadeniz Havzası’nın (DKH) geçmiş ve gelecek dönem kuraklık analizini SYİ parametresi ile gerçekleştirmek ve bu parametrenin eğilimini belirlemektir. Bu kapsamda DKH içinde ve çevresinde yer alan 12 meteoroloji istasyonundan ölçülmüş olan 1981-2010 dönemi aylık toplam yağış verileri kullanılarak SYİ değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Ayrıca CMIP5 arşivinde yer alan GFDL-ESM-2M genel dolaşım modelinin iyimser (RCP4.5) ve kötümser (RCP8.5) senaryolar altındaki bölgesel ölçeğe indirgenmiş olan 2021-2050 dönemi çıktılarına da aynı işlemler uygulanmıştır. Meteorolojik kuraklığın eğilim analizleri için 1 ve 3 aylık SYİ değerleri üzerinde Yenilikçi Eğilim Analizi yöntemi kullanılarak üç farklı grupta ve %95 güven düzeyinde tekdüze olarak eğilim analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Gözlem değerlerinde ve RCP senaryolarında istasyonların yaklaşık %25’inde şiddetli yağışlarda ve şiddetli kuraklıklarda artış görülmüştür. Ancak SYİ değerlerinde geçmiş dönem periyodunda Akçaabat istasyonu (azalan eğilim) hariç tekdüze anlamlı artan eğilim görülürken gelecek dönem periyodunda her iki senaryo için azalan yönde eğilim görülmüştür., Unlike other natural disasters, drought takes longer to develop and its effects last longer. With this feature, monitoring a possible drought makes it possible to reduce the negative effects of drought more effectively. The Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) is one of the few drought indexes proposed by researchers to describe droughts between different climatic conditions on different time periods and regions. This study aims to perform the past and future drought analysis of the Eastern Black Sea Basin (EBSB), which is one of the most important hydrological basins in terms of precipitation amount of Turkey, with SPI. In this context, SPI values were calculated using the monthly total precipitation data for the 1981-2010 period, which were measured from 12 meteorological stations in and around the EBSB. In addition, the same processes were applied to the 2021-2050 period outputs of the GFDL-ESM-2M general circulation model in the CMIP5 archive, which was downscaled to regional scale under optimistic (RCP4.5) and pessimistic (RCP8.5) scenarios. For trend analysis of meteorological drought, trend analysis was carried out in three different groups and 95% confidence interval, using Innovative Trend Analysis method on 1- and 3- monthly SPI values. In the observation values and RCP scenarios, about 25% of the stations saw an increase in severe wet class and in severe drought class. However, in the historical period, except for the Akçaabat station (decreasing trend), significant monotonic increasing trends were observed in the SPI values, while a decreasing trend was observed in the next period for both scenarios.

This study aimed to model the stream dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration using the multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) and TreeNet gradient boosting machine (TreeNet) methods. The water quality indicators employed for the modeling studies were the stream DO concentration (mg/L), temperature (°C), pH, and electrical conductivity (mS/cm), as well as hardness (°dH). These indicators were measured semimonthly during a year for six monitoring sites selected in untreated wastewater impacted urban stream, namely Harşit, Gümüşhane Province. The stream water quality data for each indicator were 144, 80 % for the training, and the rest for the testing. To evaluate the performance for the training and testing data sets of the models, four performance statistics, i.e., root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), mean relative error (MRE), and coefficient of determination (R2), were computed. On the one hand, the TreeNet method provided better results for the training data set. On the other hand, the MARS method provided better results for the testing data set. The lowest RMSE, MAE, and MRE and highest R2 values were calculated as 0.2247 mg/L, 0.0666 mg/L, 0.66 %, and 0.9995 for the training data sets, and 0.2911 mg/L, 0.2336 mg/L, 2.27 %, and 0.9992 %, for the test data sets, respectively. It was concluded that the MARS method had a better performance than to the TreeNet method considering the mean values for both data sets., Bu çalışmada çok değişkenli uyarlanabilir regresyon eğrileri (MARS) ve TreeNet gradyan arttırma makinesi (TreeNet) isimli regresyon tabanlı yöntemler kullanılarak çözünmüş oksijen (ÇO) konsantrasyonu modellemesi amaçlanmıştır. Modelleme çalışmasında kentsel atıksuları bünyesine alarak yer yer kirlenen Harşit Çayı (Gümüşhane) üzerinde belirlenmiş altı su kalitesi gözlem istasyonunda, 15 gün aralıklarla ve 24 kez yerinde gerçekleştirilen ÇO konsantrasyonu (mg/L), sıcaklık (°C), pH ve elektriksel iletkenlik (mS/cm) ölçümleri yanı sıra akarsudan alınan su örneklerinde laboratuvarda gerçekleştirilen sertlik (°dH) tayinleri neticesinde elde edilen veriler kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veri setinin % 80’i kurulan modellerin eğitilmesinde geriye kalan % 20’si ise söz konusu modellerin test edilmesinde kullanılmıştır. Kurulan modellerin eğitim ve test veri seti performanslarını değerlendirmek amacıyla ortalama karesel hatanın karekökü (OKHK), ortalama mutlak hata (OMH), ortalama rölatif hata (ORH) ve determinasyon katsayısı (R2) performans istatistikleri kullanılmıştır. En düşük OKHK, OMH ve ORH ile en yüksek R2 değerleri eğitim veri seti için sırasıyla 0,2247 mg/L, 0,0666 mg/L, % 0,66 ve 0,9995 olarak TreeNet yönteminden, test veri seti için ise 0,2911 mg/L, 0,2336 mg/L, % 2,27 ve 0,9992 olarak MARS yönteminden elde edilmiştir. Her iki veri seti için ortalamalar dikkate alındığında ise, MARS yönteminden elde edilen performans değerlerinin TreeNet yönteminden elde edilenlere kıyasla daha iyi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

İstatistiksel ölçek indirgeme yöntemleri düşük çözünürlüğe sahip atmosferik değişkenler ile istasyonlardan ölçülmüş meteorolojik parametreler arasında istatistiksel ilişkiler kurulmasına dayanan yöntemlerdir. Bu çalışmada (0,75° x 0,75°) sayısal ağ çözünürlüğüne sahip EraInterim re-analiz veri setinde yer alan atmosferik değişkenler kullanılarak Doğu Karadeniz Havzası’nda ve çevresinde yer alan 12 meteoroloji istasyonundan ölçülmüş olan aylık ortalama sıcaklık parametresinin her bir istasyon için tahmin edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla EraInterim re-analiz veri setinde yer alan yüzeysel parametrelerden yağış, sıcaklık, deniz yüzeyi basıncı ve yüzeysel hava basıncı ile 850, 500 ve 200 hPa basınç seviyelerindeki hava sıcaklığı, jeopotansiyel yükseklik ve rölatif nem atmosferik değişkenleri bağımsız değişkenler olarak kullanılmıştır. Meteoroloji istasyonlarından (1981-2010) döneminde ölçülmüş olan aylık ortalama sıcaklık değerleri ise bağımlı değişken olarak kullanılmıştır. Ölçek indirgeme yöntemi olarak çok değişkenli uyarlanabilir regresyon eğrileri (ÇDURE) yöntemi seçilmiştir. İstasyon temelinde kurulmuş olan ÇDURE model performanslarının değerlendirilmesi için ortalama karesel hatanın karekökü, saçılım indeksi, ortalama mutlak hata ve Nash-Sutcliffe (NS) etkinlik katsayısı istatistikleri kullanılmıştır. Hesaplanan NS değerinin tüm istasyonlar için 0.9-1.0 aralığında olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca EraInterim veri setinden seçilmiş olan küresel ölçekli değişkenlerin yerel ölçekteki sıcaklık değerleri tahmininde başarılı olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu sonuçlar ÇDURE istatistiksel ölçek indirgeme yönteminin kaba ölçekli atmosferik değişkenlerin bölgesel ölçeğe indirgenmesinde kullanılabilir olduğunu göstermiştir Statistical downscaling methods are based on determination of statistical relationships between low resolution atmospheric variables and measured climate parameters from meteorological stations. In this study, it was aimed to estimate the monthly mean temperature measured from 12 meteorological stations in and around the Eastern Black Sea Basin using atmospheric variables in the EraInterim re-analysis data set with grid resolution (0.75° x 0.75°). For this purpose, the variables of precipitation, temperature, sea surface pressure, surface air pressure and air temperature, geopotential height and relative humidity at 850, 500 and 200 hPa pressure levels in the EraInterim re-analysis data set were used as independent variables. Monthly mean temperature values measured from meteorological stations (1981-2010) were used as dependent variables. Multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) method selected as downscaling method. The root mean square error, scattering index, mean absolute error and Nash Sutcliffe (NS) efficiency coefficient statistics were used to evaluate the performance of the MARS model based on the station. The NS value calculated for all stations was in the range of 0.9-1.0. In addition, the global scale variables selected from the EraInterim data set were found to be quite successful in estimating local temperature values. The results obtained from the study showed that MARS statistical downscaling method can be used to downscale the coarse scale atmospheric variables to the regional scale

M. Ali Hınıs (Aksaray, Yazar), Su yapılarının tasarımında ve işletmesinde günlük akarsu akım değerleri büyük öneme sahiptir. İleriye yönelik kısa süreli akım tahmini yapabilen bir metodun geliştirilmesi, işletmede bulunan su yapılarının kontrolünün sağlanması, hidroelektrik üretimi, çevre koruması ve taşkın kontrolünde üreticiye, kullanıcıya ve bölge halkına uygun bir yönetim imkânı sağlayabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Haldizen Deresi akım değerleri Çok Değişkenli Uyarlanabilir Regresyon Eğrileri (ÇDURE) kullanılarak tahmin edilmiş ve sonuçlar klasik regresyon analizi (KRA) ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Doğu Karadeniz Havzası’nda yer alan Haldizen Deresi Şerah Akım Gözlem İstasyonunun 1998- 2009 yılları arasında günlük olarak ölçülmüş olan akım verileri kullanılmıştır. Yapılan bu çalışma ile ÇDURE yönteminin tahmin değerlerinin KRA’ya göre daha iyi sonuçlar verdiği ve yöntemin akım değerleri tahmininde kullanılabilir olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın akarsu üzerindeki enerji planlamasında ve ayrıca bölgede yapılması planlanan su koruma yapılarının tasarımında da faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir., The daily streamflow values have a great influence on the design and operation of water structures. Development of a method capable of predicting future short-time current flow providing control of water structures in operation, hydroelectricity generation, environmental protection and flood control can provide appropriate management for producers, users and the people of the region. In this study, the Haldizen Stream streamflow values were estimated using Multivariable Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS) and compared with the result of Classical Regression Analysis (CRA). For this purpose, daily flow data measured between 1998 and 2009 of the Haldizen Stream Şerah Stream Observation Station located in the Eastern Black Sea Basin were used. With this study, it is concluded that the result of MARS method give a better than those of KRA method and can be used in estimating flow values. This study is thought to be useful in energy planning on the river and also in the design of water conservation plans planned to be made in the region.

Theinput of organic carbon being an indicator of organic pollution as well to theoceans provides crucial sources in food web of estuarine ecosystems. The BlackSea surrounded by six countries is the world’s largest land-locked inland sea and its totallength of the coastal zone is 4,340 km, of which 1,400 km is shared by Turkey.The Black Sea receives annually a considerable freshwater input from the riverscarrying substantial loads of organic matter, nutrients and anthropogenicpollutants and the coastal parts are highly affected by eutrophication. The aimof this study is to determine the temporal variability of total carbon (TC),total organic carbon (TOC) and total inorganic carbon (TIC) carried from theeight Turkish streams to the Black Sea. The streams included in this study areAğasar,Fol, Galanima, Değirmendere,Yomra, Karadere, Manahoz and Solaklı, within the boundaries of Trabzon Province, themost densely populated city located in the coast of Southeastern Black Sea. Thewater sampling studies have been monthly conducted in one station, which wasselected at the point where the stream is discharged into the Black Sea, foreach stream during a period of twelve months between March 2015 and February2016. Considering the mean values for each stream, TOC concentration fluctuatedfrom 1.59 to 25.90 mg/L and the Stream Yomra being under immense pressure dueto various kinds of anthropogenic activities among which sand and gravel miningis the most disastrous one was the most critical one. The streams showed highTC and TIC yields during the summer and autumn months, corresponding to theseasonal trend of stream discharge. It was also found that TIC comprised themajority of the total carbon concentration, with mean percentages ranging from68.9% to 84.06% in all of the streams.

Su kaynaklarının planlanmasında ve su yapılarının yönetiminde ileriye yönelik tahmin yapabilen bir metodun kullanılması büyük bir önem taşımaktadır. Özellikle uzun süreli tahmin yapabilmek, su kaynakları uygulamalarında, çevre korumasında, kuraklık yönetiminde, su kaynaklarının kullanılmasında, sulamanın büyük önem taşıdığı rezervuar yönetimlerinde, hidroelektrik enerji üretiminde ve sürdürülebilir su kaynaklarının geliştirilmesinde üreticiye ve kullanıcıya uygun bir planlama ve yönetim imkanı sağlayabilmektedir. Bu tezde su kaynakları ve su yapıları çalışmalarında en önemli parametre olan akım değerleri, ileriye yönelik akım değerleri tahmininde kullanılmıştır. Genellikle haftalık veya aylık akım verileri ile işlem yapmak bu verilerin varyansları az olduğundan daha yaygın kullanımı olsa da asıl ihtiyaç duyulan daha kısa süreli (günlük veri gibi) verilerin modellenmesidir. Bu amaçla Doğu Karadeniz Havzası'nda yer alan Haldizen Deresi'nin 1998-2009 yılları arasında günlük olarak ölçülmüş olan akım verileri kullanılarak modelleme yapılmış ve günlük verilerle kısa süreli planlamalara ışık tutulmaya çalışılmıştır. Modellemede; İleri Beslemeli Geriye Yaymalı Çok Katmanlı Yapay Sinir Ağları (ÇK-YSA), Temel Bileşenler Analizi Yapay Sinir Ağları (TBA-YSA), Zaman Gecikmeli Öz Yineli Yapay Sinir Ağları (ZGÖ-YSA) metotları kullanılarak ileriye yönelik akım tahminlerinde bulunulmuştur. To make especially long-term predictions, most of water resources applications, environmental protection, management of drought, the use of water resources, is also of great importance. Reservoir management of irrigation can provide a useful planning and management facilities for manufacturers and users in developing sustainable water supply and hydroelectric generation. Streamflow is the most important parameter used in water resources planning and design of water structures. Generally modelling of monthly or weekly flow data has better results due to their low variances however, the shorter duration with higher variances such as daily flow data are needed in most usual design cases. Therefore, daily flow data with shorter duration and higher variances is used in the modelling in this study to shed light on the precise data for short term planning. Data of Haldizen Stream in the East Balack Sea Basin is used and attempted to develop a model to use in water structure management in the region. In the study, during the period of 1998-2000 years of daily stream flow measured data of Haldizen Stream located in the Eastern Black Sea Basin has been used in the models. The following models are used in this study for streamflow forecasting: Feed forward back propagation multilayer artificial neural network (MLP-NN), Principal Component Neural Network (PC-NN), Time-Lagged Recurrent Neural Network (TL-NN). Performance of the models are compared with various criteria and best fit of the models are determined and presented with tables and figures.
