Abstract Background This study aimed to understand the vision health status of adolescents in the Western Pacific Region (WPR) using Global Burden of Disease (GBD) data from 1990 to 2019. Methods We conducted a comprehensive analysis of blindness and vision loss using GBD data from 1990 to 2019, analyzed trends in the prevalence and burden of blindness and vision loss over time using joinpoint regression, and analyzed their independent effects on blindness and vision loss in three dimensions using age-period-cohort (APC) modeling. Results The prevalence of blindness and vision loss among adolescents in the WPR showed an increasing trend between 1990 and 2019 (AAPC: 0.56%) and a slight increase in YLD (AAPC: 0.11%). The joinpoint regression showed a decreasing trend after 2017 (AAPC: -2.45%). The prevalence and burden trended downward in most Western Pacific countries, with only China rising significantly (AAPC prevalence: 0.57%). Refractive disorders had the highest prevalence among the subgroups. The risk of blindness and vision loss in adolescents reduced with age but grew later in time and at later birth. In addition, prevalence and burden were generally higher in females than males. Conclusions In the context of a declining global trend in the prevalence and burden of blindness and vision loss among adolescents, there is an increasing trend among adolescents in WPR, with the most pronounced rise in China. This finding has important implications for WPR, suggesting that more attention should be given to adolescent eye health in the region.

ObjectiveExperimental animal models have been used for decades to study the development and progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, there is a lack of methods for constructing animal models of COPD for optimal modelling. This systematic literature review (SLR) aimed to assess the various methods used to establish COPD animal models, highlight their advantages and limitations, and explore more optimized approaches for establishing such models.MethodsA systematic search was performed in four English databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library) and four Chinese databases (Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technology Journal Database, and Wanfang Database). Of the 8,015 retrieved full-text manuscripts, 453 were selected.ResultsSmoking (n = 140), smoking combined with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (n = 275), smoking combined with protease drip (PPE) (n = 10), smoking combined with bacteria (n = 23), and smoking combined with particulate matter (PM2.5) (n = 5) were the most used methods for establishing animal models of COPD. Rats and mice were the most frequently selected experimental animals, with male animals accounting for 79.47% of the total. A total of 92.49 and 29.14% of the articles reviewed considered lung pathology of experimental animals only and lung pathology and lung function tests, respectively.ConclusionOur review suggests that the best way to establish an animal model of COPD is to combine smoking with LPS. Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is an exceedingly rare malignant tumor. Herein, we present a case of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma in a 59-year-old Chinese female patient who was stable after treatment for multiple relapses. Imaging revealed massive ascites and an irregular thickening of the peritoneal mesangium. Laparoscopic biopsy revealed heterogeneous cell nests in the parietal peritoneal fibrous tissue, which were confirmed by immunohistochemical staining for Calretinin, WT-1, and D2-40. In terms of genetic screening, BAP1, CSF1R , and other key driver gene variants closely related to malignant peritoneal mesothelioma have been explored in tumor tissues. Notably, CARD11 driver mutation was first found in all malignant peritoneal mesothelioma patients, and ATM A1159T gene mutation found in recurrent focal tissue may be associated with recurrent tumor recurrence.

ObjectivesThyroid cancer rarely occurs in children and adolescents. Molecular markers such as BRAF, RAS, and RET/PTC have been widely used in adult PTC. It is currently unclear whether these molecular markers have equivalent potential for application in pediatric patients. This study aims to explore the potential utility of a multi-gene conjoint analysis based on next-generation targeted sequencing for pediatric papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).Materials and methodsThe patients diagnosed with PTC (aged 18 years or younger) in the pediatrics department of Lishui District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were retrospectively screened. A targeted enrichment and sequencing analysis of 116 genes associated with thyroid cancer was performed on paraffin-embedded tumor tissues and paired paracancerous tissue of fifteen children (average age 14.60) and nine adults (average age 49.33) PTC patients. Demographic information, clinical indicators, ultrasonic imaging information and pathological data were collected. The Kendall correlation test was used to establish a correlation between molecular variations and clinical characteristics in pediatric patients.ResultsA sample of 15 pediatric PTCs revealed a detection rate of 73.33% (11/15) for driver gene mutations BRAF V600E and RET fusion. Compared to adult PTCs, the genetic mutation landscape of pediatric PTCs was more complex. Six mutant genes overlap between the two groups, and an additional seventeen unique mutant genes were identified only in pediatric PTCs. There was only one unique mutant gene in adult PTCs. Summary: During space travel, microgravity leads to disturbances in cognitive function, while the underlying mechanism is still unclear. Simulated microgravity mice showed neuronal age-like changes in the hippocampus of our study. In the context of microgravity, we discovered m6A modification reshapes in the hippocampal region. When paired with RNA-seq and MeRIP-seq, Shox2 was found to be a powerful regulator in hippocampal neuron that respondes to microgravity. Decreased expression of senescence-associated secretory phenotype factors and improved genes related to synapses led to the restoration of memory function in the hippocampus upon increased expression of Shox2. Moreover, we discovered that IGF2BP2 was required for the m6A modification of the Shox2, and overexpressed IGF2BP2 in the hippocampus protected against both neuronal senescence and learning and memory decline caused by loss of gravity. Accordingly, our research identified the hippocampal IGF2BP2-Shox2 axis as a possible therapeutic approach to maintaining cognitive function during space travel.

Abstract Background Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) checkpoint inhibitors such as pembrolizumab are novel therapeutics used to treat various advanced malignancies. Immune-related adverse events are common, among the most serious of these toxicities is hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), which is a life-threatening disorder of unbridled immune activation but has not been properly established. Methods We have procured the first case of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis as an aftermath of treatment with pembrolizumab from the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University, China. In a pursuit to enhance the understanding of this condition, a comprehensive systematic review was performed encompassing all reported instances of ICI-associated Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis within the realms of PubMed and Embase databases. Results We detail the recovery of a cervical cancer patient with a history of psoriasis who developed HLH after combined pembrolizumab and bevacizumab treatment. Remarkably, tumor lesions exhibited substantial and sustained regression. From an analysis of 52 identified Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor (ICI)-related HLH cases, we discovered that HLH often occurred within the first two treatment cycles and approximately 20% of these patients had a history of autoimmune-related diseases. Despite a 15% mortality rate, the majority of patients experienced positive outcomes. Notably, in instances of recovery from HLH, 80% showed positive tumor outcomes. Even after discontinuation of ICI treatment, tumor control persisted in some cases. Conclusion We identified the first case of HLH caused by ICI treatment in cervical cancer and summarized the possible occurrence factors of these cases, the treatment outcomes of HLH, and the impact on tumor outcomes.

Abstract SO2 emissions have brought serious hidden danger to human health and environmental quality, thus hindering sustainable economic development. The development of high-speed rail indirectly has an important impact on SO2 emissions through its economic effects. Controlling SO2 emissions from the source has increasingly become the focus of many scholars, and it is very important to assess the environmental effects of high-speed rail on SO2 emissions reduction. We use the panel data of 285 cities in China from 2007 to 2017, and adopt the spatial Difference-in-Differences model to study the impact of the opening of high-speed rail on SO2 emissions. We also introduce an improved spatial DID model that distinguishes neighboring treatment groups and neighboring control groups to test the spatial spillover effect of high-speed rail on neighboring heterogeneous samples. We find that the opening of high-speed rail significantly reduces the city’s SO2 emissions through the internal accumulation effect of technological innovation and industrial structure optimization and the urban external interaction mechanism of the cross-regional flow of production factors. Moreover, the spatial spillover effect of the opening of high-speed rail on neighboring cities is significantly positive, especially the spatial spillover effect of HSR on SO2 emissions from neighboring cities without HSR. In addition, heterogeneity analysis shows that the effect varies with the different cities’ tiers and income levels. These findings are conducive to accurately assessing the environmental effects of high-speed rail, and provide important policy references for achieving sustainable development and reducing SO2 emissions.

BackgroundTuberculosis is a worldwide epidemic disease, posing a serious threat to human health. To find effective drug action targets for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, differentially expressed genes in tuberculosis patients and healthy people were screened by mRNA sequencing in this study. A total of 556 differentially expressed genes in tuberculosis patients and healthy people were screened out by mRNA sequencing technology. 26 transcription factors and 66 corresponding target genes were screened out in the AnimalTFDB 3.0 database, and a transcription factor regulatory network was constructed.ResultsThree key transcription factors (TP53, KLF5 and GATA2) and one key gene (AKT1) were screened as new potential drug targets and diagnostic targets for tuberculosis by MCODE cluster analysis, and the key genes and key transcription factors were verified by RT-PCR. Finally, we constructed the and a key factor and KEGG signaling pathway regulatory network to clarify the possible molecular pathogenesis of tuberculosis.ConclusionThis study suggested M. tuberculosis may activate the AKT1 gene expression by regulating transcription factors TP53, KLF5, and GATA2, thus activating the B cell receptor signaling pathway to induce the infection and invasion of M. tuberculosis. AKT1, TP53, KLF5, and GATA2 can be used as new potential drug targets for tuberculosis.

Lagerstroemia indica is an important commercial tree known for the ornamental value. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome sequence of Lagerstroemia indica “Pink Velour” (Lagerstroemia “Pink Velour”) was 152,174 bp in length with a GC content of 39.50%. It contained 85 protein coding genes (PCGs), 37 tRNAs, and 8 rRNA genes. 207 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and 31 codons with relative synonymous codon (RSCU)value > 1 were detected. Phylogenetic analysis divided 10 Lagerstroemia species into evolutionary branches of clade A and clade B. We conducted a comparative analysis of Lagerstroemia “Pink Velours” complete chloroplast genome with the genomes of six closely related Lagerstroemia species from different origins. The structural features of all seven species were similar, except for the deletion of ycf1 nucleobases at the JSA boundary. The large single-copy (LSC) and the small single-copy (SSC) had a higher sequence divergence than the IR region, and 8 genes that were highly divergent (trnK-UUU, petN, psbF, psbJ, ndhE, ndhD, ndhI, ycf1) had been identified and could be used as molecular markers in future studies. High nucleotide diversity was present in genes belonging to the photosynthesis category. Mutation of single nucleic acid was mainly influenced by codon usage. The value percentage of nonsynonymous substitutions (Ka) and synonymous substitutions (Ks) in 6 Lagerstroemia species revealed that more photosynthesis genes have Ka or Ks only in Lagerstroemia fauriei, Lagerstroemia limii, and Lagerstroemia subcostata. These advances will facilitate the breeding of closely related Lagerstroemia species and deepen understanding on climatic adaptation of Lagerstroemia plants.

Abstract Background The incidence of mobile phone addiction among adolescents in rural areas of China is increasing year by year, and has already exceeded that of some cities. And phone addiction increases the risk of anxiety and poor sleep. Therefore, this study used network analysis to investigate the relationship between mobile phone addiction and anxiety symptoms, and the predictability to sleep quality. Methods From September 2021 to March 2022, a total of 1920 rural adolescents in Xuzhou, China were included. The survey included information on phone addiction, anxiety symptoms, and sleep quality. Network analysis was used to estimate the network structure of adolescents’ mobile phone addiction and anxiety symptoms. LOWESS curve and linear regression were used to test the predictive ability of node-centrality on sleep quality. Results In the network of mobile phone addiction-anxiety symptoms, the most influential symptoms were Failure to cut down the time, Anxiety if not used for some time, and Alleviate loneliness. Irritability was the most prominent bridging symptom. Gender difference had no effect on network structure. Nodes in the network are not predictive of sleep quality. Conclusion Failure to cut down the time is the most important symptom, suggesting that measures should be taken to reduce the amount of time spent on mobile phones. For example, increase outdoor exercise, increase the real company of friends and family, in order to reduce the occurrence of mobile phone addiction and anxiety.

Abstract Aims We aimed to report an overview of trends in suicide mortality and years of life lost (YLLs) among adolescents and young adults aged 10–24 years by sex, age group, Socio-demographic Index (SDI), region and country from 1990 to 2021 as well as the suicide mortality with age, period and birth cohort effects. Methods Estimates and 95% uncertainty intervals for suicide mortality and YLLs were extracted from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2021. Joinpoint analysis was used to calculate the annual percentage change (APC) and average annual percentage change (AAPC) to describe the mortality and rate of YLLs trends. Age, period and cohort model was utilized to disentangle age, period and birth cohort effects on suicide mortality trends. Results Globally, suicide mortality and the rate of YLLs among adolescents and young adults both declined from 1990 to 2021 (AAPC: −1.6 [−2.1 to −1.2]). In 2021, the global number of suicide death cases was 112.9 thousand [103.9–122.2 thousand] and led to 7.9 million [7.2–8.6 million] YLLs. A significant reduction in suicide mortality was observed in all sexes and age groups. By SDI quintiles, the high SDI region (AAPC: −0.3 [−0.6 to 0.0]) had the slowest decline trend, and low-middle SDI region remained the highest suicide mortality till 2021 (7.8 per 100,000 population [6.9–8.6]). Most SDI regions showed generally lower period and cohort effects during the study period, whereas high SDI region showed more unfavourable risks, especially period and cohort effects in females. Regionally, Central Latin America (AAPC: 1.7 [1.1–2.3]), Tropical Latin America (AAPC: 1.5 [0.9–2.0]), High-income Asia Pacific (AAPC: 1.2 [0.7–1.7]) and Southern sub-Saharan Africa (AAPC: 0.8 [0.4–1.2]) had the significance increase in suicide mortality. In 2021, Southern sub-Saharan Africa had the highest mortality (10.5 per 100,000 population [8.6–12.5]). Nationally, a total of 29 countries had a significant upward trend in suicide mortality and rate of YLLs over the past three decades, and certain countries in low-middle and middle regions exhibited an extremely higher burden of suicide. Conclusions Global suicide mortality and the rate of YLLs among adolescents and young adults both declined from 1990 to 2021, but obvious variability was observed across regions and countries. Earlier mental health education and targeted management are urgently required for adolescents and young adults in certain areas.

Objective. The objective of this study is to explore the utilization of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology in evaluating the likelihood of identifying individuals with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC ≤10 mm) who are at high or low risk. Design. NGS was used to analyze 393 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues of PTC tumors, all of which were smaller than 15 mm. Results. The study found that bilateralism, multifocality, intrathyroidal spread, and extrathyroidal extension were present in 84 (21.4%), 153 (38.9%), 16 (4.1%), and 54 (13.7%) cases, respectively. Metastasis of cervical lymph nodes was identified in 226 (57.5%) cases and 96 (24.4%) cases with CLNM >5. Out of the total number of cases studied, 8 cases (2.3%) showed signs of tumor recurrence, all of which were localized and regional. Genetic alterations were detected in 342 cases (87.0%), with 336 cases revealing single mutations and 6 cases manifesting compound mutations. 332 cases (84.5%) had BRAFV600E mutation, 2 cases had KRASQ61K mutation, 2 cases had NRASQ61R mutation, 8 cases had RET/PTC1 rearrangement, 3 cases had RET/PTC3 rearrangement, and 1 case had TERT promoter mutation. Additionally, six individuals harbored concurrent mutations in two genes. These mutations were of various types and combinations: BRAFV600E and NRASQ61R (n = 2), BRAFV600E and RET/PTC3 (n = 2), BRAFV600E and RET/PTC1 (n = 1), and BRAFV600E and TERT promoter (n = 1). The subsequent analysis did not uncover a significant distinction in the incidence of gene mutation or fusion between the cN0 and cN1 patient cohorts. The presence of BRAFV600E mutation and CLNM incidence rates were found to be positively correlated with larger tumor size in PTMC. Our data showed that gene mutations did not appear to have much to do with high-risk papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC). AbstractImmune ophthalmopathy is a collection of autoimmune eye diseases. Immunosuppressants are drugs that can inhibit the body’s immune response. Considering drug side effects such as hepatorenal toxicity and the unique structure of the eye, incorporating immunosuppressants into ophthalmic nanodrug delivery systems, such as microparticles, nanoparticles, liposomes, micelles, implants, and in situ gels, has the advantages of improving solubility, increasing bioavailability, high eye-target specificity, and reducing side effects. This study reviews recent research and applications of this aspect to provide a reference for the development of an ophthalmic drug delivery system.

High-entropy effect is a novel design strategy to optimize properties and explore novel materials. In this work, (La1/5Nd1/5Sm1/5Ho1/5Y1/5)NbO4 (5RNO) high-entropy microwave dielectric ceramics were successfully prepared in the sintering temperature (S.T.) range of 1210–1290 ℃ via a solid-phase reaction route, and medium-entropy (La1/3Nd1/3Sm1/3)NbO4 and (La1/4Nd1/4Sm1/4Ho1/4)NbO4 (3RNO and 4RNO) ceramics were compared. The effects of the entropy (S) on crystal structure, phase transition, and dielectric performance were evaluated. The entropy increase yields a significant increase in a phase transition temperature (from monoclinic fergusonite to tetragonal scheelite structure). Optimal microwave dielectric properties were achieved in the high-entropy ceramics (5RNO) at the sintering temperature of 1270 ℃ for 4 h with a relative density of 98.2% and microwave dielectric properties of dielectric permittirity (εr) = 19.48, quality factor (Q×f) = 47,770 GHz, and resonant frequency temperature coefficient (τf) = –13.50 ppm/℃. This work opens an avenue for the exploration of novel microwave dielectric material and property optimization via entropy engineering.

ObjectivesLung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most common newly diagnosed malignant tumor in older people. As older patients age, organ function decreases, leading to increased adverse reactions to treatment. The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anaplastic lymphoma kinase tyrosine (ALK) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) therapy are more effective and well-tolerated than chemotherapy, while the rate of genetic testing and subsequent targeted treatment among older patients remains relatively low, the clinical benefit limitation for those patients. This study aims to investigate the mutation characteristics of LUAD diver gene and its relationship with clinicopathological features in older LUAD.Materials and methodsA total of 275 patients were diagnosed as LUAD and were over sixty years old. We utilized next-generation sequencing technology to detect and analyze gene mutations in postoperative tissue specimens, including EGFR, KRAS, ALK, ROS1, RET, MET, BRAF, HER2, PIK3CA and NRAS.ResultsA total of 90.18% (248/275) of older LUAD patients experienced genetic mutations. The EGFR (192, 69.82%) had the highest mutation rate among ten genes, followed by KRAS (21, 7.64%), MET (21, 7.64%), ERBB2 (15, 5.45%), RET (9, 3.27%), ALK (8, 2.91%), ROS1 (8, 2.91%), PIK3CA (6, 2.18%), BRAF (5, 1.82%) and NRAS (1, 0.36%). We also found thirty patients (15.63%) with EGFR mutations also having other gene mutations. The L858R mutation and exon19 deletion were the predominant EGFR mutations, accounting for 84.90% of EGFR-mutated patients. In addition, fifty-one kinds of EGFR mutations were detected, distributed in the protein tyrosine kinase catalytic domain (43, 84.31%), cysteine enriched domain (4, 7.84%), receptor binding domain (3, 5.88%), and EGFR transmembrane domain (1,1.96%). Ten cases of gene fusion mutation were detected. Two rare partner genes, PKHD1 (P60:R34) and STK39 (R33:S11), were detected by ROS1 gene fusion. RET gene fusion revealed a rare companion gene KCND2 (R11:K2). The EGFR mutations were more prevalent in female, non-smoking patients (p < 0.05), and the KRAS mutations were more common in male and smoking patients (p < 0.01). In addition, the BRAF mutations were more likely to occur in the right lung (p < 0.05).ConclusionOlder LUAD populations exhibit diverse genetic mutations, which may also exist simultaneously. Simultaneous detection of multiple genes by NGS can accelerate and enhance targeted treatment benefits for older LUAD patients, ultimately improving their quality of life.

Hu line is the dividing line of Chinese population density, geography, culture, and economy. The areas on both sides of the Hu line are in completely different stages of development, and have development modes. Based on the 3D research framework, and using the panel data of 335 cities in China from 2000 to 2013, our study examines the driving factors and the influence mechanism of productivity in the cities on both sides of the HU line. We find that economic growth in low-density areas depends more on increased density and division, while economic growth in high-density areas depends more on decreases in distance and segmentation. In addition, the mechanism test illustrates the heterogeneous growth mechanism on both sides of the HU line. The cultural diversity in low-density areas promotes economic growth by promoting diversified economy; while the cultural identity in high-density areas promotes specialized economy and thus promotes economic growth. Our study provides new empirical evidence for the informal institutional reasons behind the economic development, and also provides a useful reference for the economic development of the multi-ethnic areas in China.

In order to explore the application prospects of phages for controlling bacterial contamination, a lytic phage Pf17397_F_PD1 (Later abbreviated as PD1) was isolated from fish guts using Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC 17397 as the host bacterium. The phage displayed short latency (18 min), long lysis period (212 min), and high lysis volume (1.47 × 102 PFU/each cell). It displayed wide temperature (30–70°C) and pH (4–11) tolerance. Genomic comparison revealed a maximum sequence identity of 48.65% between phage PD1 and other identified phages, indicating that PD1 was a new phage. The phage PD1 significantly inhibited the growth of P. fluorescens in milk and grass carp at 4°C and 25°C. Compared to the negative control, bacterial levels in milk stored at 25°C for 48 h were reduced by 2.71 log CFU/mL and 2.84 log CFU/mL at the multiplicity of infection (MOI) of 100 and 1,000, respectively. In contrast, when grass carp were stored at 25°C for 24 h, the bacterial load was reduced by 1.28 log CFU/g and 2.64 log CFU/g compared to the control (MOI of 100 and 1,000). When the phage was applied for preservation of grass carp blocks, total volatile salt nitrogen (TVB-N) values of phage-treated samples increased by 6.8 mg/100 g and 7.5 mg/100 g at MOI of 100 and 1,000, respectively, after 7 days of storage, which was significantly lower than that of the control group (15.83 mg/100 g). This study showed that phage PD1 was a good natural biological antimicrobial agent against P. fluorescens ATCC 17397.

Abstract Background This study aimed to develop and validate a lasso regression algorithm model which was established by correlation factors of bone mineral density (BMD) and could be accurately predicted a high-risk population of primary osteoporosis (POP). It provides a rapid, economical and acceptable early screening method for osteoporosis in grass-roots hospitals. Methods We collected 120 subjects from primary osteoporosis screening population in Zhejiang Quhua Hospital between May 2021 and November 2021 who were divided into three groups (normal, osteopenia and osteoporosis) according to the BMD T-score. The levels of three micro-RNAs in the plasma of these people were detected and assessed by qRT-PCR. At the same time, the levels of β-CTX and t-P1NP in serum of the three groups were determined. Based on the cluster random sampling method, 84 subjects (84/120, 70%) were selected as the training set and the rest were the test set. Lasso regression was used to screen characteristic variables and establish an algorithm model to evaluate the population at high risk of POP which was evaluated and tested in an independent test cohort. The feature variable screening process was used 10-fold cross validation to find the optimal lambda. Results The osteoporosis risk score was established in the training set: Risk of primary osteoporosis score (RPOPs) = -0.1497785 + 2.52Age − 0.19miR21 + 0.35miR182 + 0.17β-CTx. The sensitivity, precision and accuracy of RPOPs in an independent test cohort were 79.17%, 82.61% and 75%, respectively. The AUC in the test set was 0.80. With the rapid development of power electronic conversion technology, energy conversion has become more common than ever, and magnetic devices are more widely utilized. In power electronic conversion, magnetic devices are becoming more important and prominent, which puts forward higher requirements for the design and stability of magnetic devices. Many of domestic and foreign studies on magnetic devices pay particular attention to influence of air gap and loose magnetic field on inductance, but there is little analysis on the air gap energy storage of magnetic devices. This paper focuses on the energy storage relationship in magnetic devices under the condition of constant inductance, and finds energy storage and distribution relationship between Magnetic material and gap. The energy distribution ratio between material and gap of Magnetic Devices is verified on the dual-input power supply transformer of the energy storage converter.The innovation point of this paper is to analyze storage energy distribution ratio on the core and gap of magnetic devices from the perspective of energy that the storage energy distribution ratio of magnetic devices is changed after the addition of air gap. In the design of power supply, according to the demand of energy conversion, adjust the size of air gap appropriately, then change the energy storage position of magnetic devices, increase margin of the saturation flux density, improve the linearity of permeability, adjust the stability of switching power supply, provide theoretical reference for the design of magnetic devices of switching power supply.

With the rapid development of electric vehicles, electric vehicle battery health diagnosis has become a hot issue. In order to realize online battery health diagnosis, an online battery health diagnosis platform based on DTW-XGBoost was proposed. The feature extraction method of multi-source data fusion based on clustering was adopted. DTW clustering was used to perform data aggregation and feature extraction for real-time battery data during charging process, and XGBoost algorithm was used to establish SOH prediction model. Build an online battery health diagnosis platform including acquisition and control module, modeling and analysis module and application service module by using cloud platform to improve charging operation and maintenance management level.

Abstract Background Previous studies suggest that deficits in cognition may increase the risk of suicide. Our study aims to develop a machine learning (ML) algorithm-based suicide risk prediction model using cognition in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Methods Participants comprised 52 depressed suicide attempters (DSA) and 61 depressed non-suicide attempters (DNS), and 98 healthy controls (HC). All participants were required to complete a series of questionnaires, the Suicide Stroop Task (SST) and the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT). The performance in IGT was analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA. ML with extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) classification algorithm and locally explanatory techniques assessed performance and relative importance of characteristics for predicting suicide attempts. Prediction performances were compared with the area under the curve (AUC), decision curve analysis (DCA), and net reclassification improvement (NRI). Results DSA and DNS preferred to select the card from disadvantageous decks (decks "A" + "B") under risky situation (p = 0.023) and showed a significantly poorer learning effect during the IGT (F = 2.331, p = 0.019) compared with HC. Performance of XGBoost model based on demographic and clinical characteristics was compared with that of the model created after adding cognition data (AUC, 0.779 vs. 0.819, p > 0.05). The net benefit of model was improved and cognition resulted in continuous reclassification improvement with NRI of 5.3%. Several clinical dimensions were significant predictors in the XGBoost classification algorithm. Limitations A limited sample size and failure to include sufficient suicide risk factors in the predictive model. Conclusion This study demonstrate that cognitive deficits may serve as an important risk factor to predict suicide attempts in patients with MDD. Combined with other demographic characteristics and attributes drawn from clinical questionnaires, cognitive function can improve the predictive effectiveness of the ML model. Additionally, explanatory ML models can help clinicians detect specific risk factors for each suicide attempter within MDD patients. These findings may be helpful for clinicians to detect those at high risk of suicide attempts quickly and accurately, and help them make proactive treatment decisions.

Bifurcation topology transfer phenomena in the presence of mode localization are investigated using double-ended fixed electrostatically coupled tuning fork resonators. An analytical model is proposed for the coupled tuning fork resonators, and the effects of feedthrough capacitance on the structure are also analyzed and eliminated by means of data post-processing. Then, an open-loop experimental platform is established, when the system is in balance state, the quality factor is obtained under test as Q = 9858, and comparison of the experiment with numerical simulation results is in good agreement. Finally, with the voltage increases, the two resonators gradually exhibit nonlinear characteristics. It is worth noting that when one of the coupled resonators exhibits nonlinear vibration behavior, even though the vibration amplitude of the other resonator is lower than the critical amplitude, it still exhibits nonlinear behavior, and the results confirm the existence of the bifurcation topology transfer phenomenon in coupled resonators’ mode localization phenomenon.

Flip chip bonding technology on gold–tin (Au-Sn) microbumps for MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) and 3D packaging is becoming increasingly important in the electronics industry. The main advantages of Au-Sn microbumps are a low electrical resistance, high electrical reliability, and fine pitch. However, the bonding temperature is relatively high, and the forming mechanism of an intermetallic compound (IMC) is complicated. In this study, Au-Sn solid-state diffusion (SSD) bonding is performed using the thermal gradient bonding (TGB) method, which lowers bonding temperature and gains high bonding strength in a short time. Firstly, Au-Sn microbumps with a low roughness are prepared by using an optimized process. Then, Au-Sn bonding parameters including bonding temperature, bonding time, and bonding pressure are optimized to obtain a higher bonding quality. The shear strength of 23.898 MPa is obtained when bonding in the HCOOH environment for 10 min at the gradient temperature of 150 °C/250 °C with a bonding pressure of more than 10 MPa. The IMC of Au-Sn is found to be Au-Sn and Au5Sn. The effect of annealing time on the IMC is also investigated. More and more Au5Sn is generated with an increase in annealing time, and Au5Sn is formed after Sn is depleted. Finally, the effect of annealing time on the IMC is verified by using finite element simulation, and the bonding strength of IMC was found to be higher when the bonding temperature is 150 °C at the cold side and 250 °C at the hot side. The temperature in the bonding area can reach 200 °C, which proves that the Au-Sn bonding process is solid-state diffusion because the temperature gradient reaches 2500 °C/cm.

Rare earth refers to a type of strategic resource. Countries worldwide have invested considerable money in relevant research. This bibliometric study was to evaluate the global situation of published rare earth research to discover rare earth research strategies in a wide range of countries. In this study, 50,149 SCI papers related to rare earth were collected. In addition, we divided the above papers into 11 main research fields according to discipline and keyword clustering, and divided the above theoretical cultures into different industry fields according to the keywords of the above papers. After that, the research directions, research institutions, funding, and other aspects of rare earth research in numerous countries were compared. The result of this study suggests that China's rare earth research has been generally in the leading position worldwide, whereas there are still some problems in the discipline layout, strategic strategies, green development, and fund support. Other countries place a greater focus on areas regarding national security strategies (e.g., mineral exploration, smelting, and permanent magnetism).

BackgroundAcute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the leading life-threatening disease in the emergency department (ED), so rapid chest pain triage is important. This study aimed to establish a clinical prediction model for the risk stratification of acute chest pain patients based on the Point-of-care (POC) cardiac troponin (cTn) level and other clinical variables.MethodsWe conducted a post-hoc analysis of the database from 6,019 consecutive patients (excluding prehospital-diagnosed non-cardiac chest pain patients) attending a local chest pain center (CPC) in China between October 2016 and January 2019. The plasma concentration of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) was measured using a POC cTnI (Cardio Triage, Alere) assay. All the eligible patients were randomly divided into training and validation cohorts by a 7:3 ratio. We performed multivariable logistic regression to select variables and build a nomogram based on the significant predictive factors. We evaluated the model's generalization ability of diagnostic accuracy in the validation cohort.ResultsWe analyzed data from 5,397 patients that were included in this research. The median turnaround time (TAT) of POC cTnI was 16 min. The model was constructed with 6 variables: ECG ischemia, POC cTnI level, hypotension, chest pain symptom, Killip class, and sex. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) in the training and validation cohorts was 0.924 and 0.894, respectively. The diagnostic performance was superior to the GRACE score (AUC: 0.737).ConclusionA practical predictive model was created and could be used for rapid and effective triage of acute chest pain patients in the CPC.

ObjectiveThis study aims to summarize the relevant evidence on the association between eye exercises and myopia in children and adolescents in China.MethodsThe meta-analysis pooled the results of 12 studies, with a total of 134,201 participants. Another five studies (no OR for myopia as an outcome and meeting inclusion criteria) were reported in the systematic review. We searched PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, Wan Fang, and reference lists of retrieved studies. Association estimates were pooled using random-effects meta-analyses. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for eye exercises and myopia were pooled from a meta-analysis.ResultsAfter standardizing the reference values, a pooled OR of the univariate analysis showed a 24% reduction in myopia in children and adolescents who performed eye exercises (OR = 0.76; 95% CI: 0.62–0.89). After adjusting the covariate, a pooled OR of multiple logistic analysis for myopia (OR = 0.87; 95% CI: 0.72–1.02) showed that there is no significance between eye exercises and myopia. However, in subgroup studies of the multivariate analysis, the large sample (OR = 0.84; 95% CI: 0.74–0.94) and Chinese database (OR = 0.80; 95% CI: 0.67–0.93) subgroup showed modest protective effects. In addition, five studies in the systematic review also evaluated the risk of myopia events, and Chinese eye exercises had a modest protective effect on myopic control, but the incorrect performance of and attitude toward eye exercises posed negative effects on their eyesight health.ConclusionChinese eye exercises have a modest protective effect on myopic control, but considering that the incorrect performance of and attitude toward eye exercises have a significant influence on the effect of eye exercises, the effect of eye exercises may not be enough to prevent the progress of myopia in the long term, and more standardized eye exercises need to be conducted.

Purpose – This paper aims to optimize the charging schedule for battery electric buses (BEBs) to minimize the charging cost considering the time-of-use electricity price. Design/methodology/approach – The BEBs charging schedule optimization problem is formulated as a mixed-integer linear programming model. The objective is to minimize the total charging cost of the BEB fleet. The charge decision of each BEB at the end of each trip is to be determined. Two types of constraints are adopted to ensure that the charging schedule meets the operational requirements of the BEB fleet and that the number of charging piles can meet the demand of the charging schedule. Findings – This paper conducts numerical cases to validate the effect of the proposed model based on the actual timetable and charging data of a bus line. The results show that the total charge cost with the optimized charging schedule is 15.56% lower than the actual total charge cost under given conditions. The results also suggest that increasing the number of charging piles can reduce the charging cost to some extent, which can provide a reference for planning the number of charging piles. Originality/value – Considering time-of-use electricity price in the BEBs charging schedule will not only reduce the operation cost of electric transit but also make the best use of electricity resources.

Abstract Nitrate is an important source of nitrogen and also acts as a signaling molecule to trigger numerous physiological, growth, and developmental processes throughout the life of the plant. Many nitrate transporters, transcription factors, and protein kinases participate in the regulation of nitrate signaling. Here, we identified a gene encoding the chrysanthemum calcineurin B-like interacting protein kinase CmCIPK23, which participates in nitrate signaling pathways. In Arabidopsis, overexpression of CmCIPK23 significantly decreased lateral root number and length and primary root length compared to the WT when grown on modified Murashige and Skoog medium with KNO3 as the sole nitrogen source (modified MS). The expression of nitrate-responsive genes differed significantly between CmCIPK23-overexpressing Arabidopsis (CmCIPK23-OE) and the WT after nitrate treatment. Nitrate content was significantly lower in CmCIPK23-OE roots, which may have resulted from reduced nitrate uptake at high external nitrate concentrations (≥ 1 mM). Nitrate reductase activity and the expression of nitrate reductase and glutamine synthase genes were lower in CmCIPK23-OE roots. We also found that CmCIPK23 interacted with the transcription factor CmTGA1, whose Arabidopsis homolog regulates the nitrate response. We inferred that CmCIPK23 overexpression influences root development on modified MS medium, as well as root nitrate uptake and assimilation at high external nitrate supply. These findings offer new perspectives on the mechanisms by which the chrysanthemum CBL interacting protein kinase CmCIPK23 influences nitrate signaling.

Background: Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) is a class of metastatic malignant tumors whose primary location cannot be determined. The diagnosis and treatment of CUP are a considerable challenge for clinicians. Herein, we report a CUP case whose corresponding primary tumor sites were successfully identified, and the patient received proper treatment.Case report: In February 2022, a 74-year-old woman was admitted to the Medical Oncology Department at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital for new lung and intestinal tumors after more than 9 years of breast cancer surgery. After laparoscopically assisted right hemicolectomy, pathology revealed mucinous adenocarcinoma; the pathological stage was pT2N0M0. Results from needle biopsies of lung masses suggested poorly differentiated cancer, ER (-), PR (-), and HER2 (-), which combined with the clinical history, did not rule out metastatic breast cancer. A surgical pathology sample was needed to determine the origin of the tumor tissue, but the patient’s chest structure showed no indications for surgery. Analysis of the tumor’s traceable gene expression profile prompted breast cancer, and analysis of next-generation amplification sequencing (NGS) did not obtain a potential drug target. We developed a treatment plan based on comprehensive immunohistochemistry, a gene expression profile, and NGS analysis. The treatment plan was formulated using paclitaxel albumin and capecitabine in combination with radiotherapy. The efficacy evaluation was the partial response (PR) after four cycles of chemotherapy and two cycles combined with radiotherapy.Conclusion: This case highlighted the importance of identifying accurate primary tumor location for patients to benefit from treatment, which will provide a reference for the treatment decisions of CUP tumors in the future.

Silique walls play pivotal roles in contributing photoassimilates and nutrients to fuel seed growth. However, the interaction between seeds and silique walls impacting oil biosynthesis is not clear during silique development. Changes in sugar, fatty acid and gene expression during Brassica napus silique development of L192 with high oil content and A260 with low oil content were investigated to identify key factors affecting difference of their seed oil content. During the silique development, silique walls contained more hexose and less sucrose than seeds, and glucose and fructose contents in seeds and silique walls of L192 were higher than that of A260 at 15 DAF, and sucrose content in the silique walls of L192 were lower than that of A260 at three time points. Genes related to fatty acid biosynthesis were activated over time, and differences on fatty acid content between the two genotypes occurred after 25 DAF. Genes related to photosynthesis expressed more highly in silique walls than in contemporaneous seeds, and were inhibited over time. Gene set enrichment analysis suggested photosynthesis were activated in L192 at 25 and 35 DAF in silique walls and at both 15 and 35 DAF in the seed. Expressions of sugar transporter genes in L192 was higher than that in A260, especially at 35 DAF. Expressions of genes related to fatty acid biosynthesis, such as BCCP2s, bZIP67 and LEC1s were higher in L192 than in A260, especially at 35 DAF. Meanwhile, genes related to oil body proteins were expressed at much lower levels in L192 than in A260. According to the WGCNA results, hub modules, such as ME.turquoise relative to photosynthesis, ME.green relative to embryo development and ME.yellow relative to lipid biosynthesis, were identified and synergistically regulated seed development and oil accumulation. Our results are helpful for understanding the mechanism of oil accumulation of seeds in oilseed rape for seed oil content improvement.

Abstract Background LncRNA GAS5 and miR-155 are reported to play opposite roles in lung inflammatory responses. Lung inflammation participates in childhood pneumonia, indicating the involvement of GAS5 and miR-155 in pneumonia. The study aimed to analyze the potential interaction between GAS5 and miR-155 in childhood pneumonia. Methods GAS5 and miR-155 levels in plasma samples from pneumonia patients and controls were detected using RT-qPCR. The role of GAS5 in miR-155 RNA gene methylation in human bronchial epithelial cells (HBEpCs) was analyzed by methylation analysis. Flow cytometry and RT-qPCR were applied to analyze cell apoptosis and SHIP-1 expression, respectively. Results GAS5 was downregulated in pneumonia, and miR-155 was upregulated in pneumonia. GAS5 and miR-155 were inversely correlated. GAS5 overexpression decreased miR-155 expression in HBEpCs, while miR-155 overexpression showed no significant effects on GAS5 expression. In addition, GAS5 suppressed LPS-induced HBEpC apoptosis, promoted SHIP-1 expression, and reduced the enhancing effect of miR-155 on cell apoptosis and SHIP-1 expression. Conclusions GAS5 may participate in childhood pneumonia by inhibiting cell apoptosis and promoting SHIP-1 expression via downregulating miR-155.

However, whether STAT3/p-STAT3 expression is associated with clinicopathologic characteristics and has prognostic significance for people suffering from ovarian cancer remains controversial. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analyses to clarify the associations between STAT3/p-STAT3 expression and clinicopathologic characteristics and prognostic factors of ovarian cancer. Methods A systematic electronic search in the PubMed, Embase, CNKI, and Wanfang databases was conducted to identify relevant articles published before 3 April 2021. BackgroundThe purpose of this study was to explore the association between benevolent childhood experiences (BCEs) and uncertainty stress among Chinese university students by network analysis.MethodsA total of 1,830 university students from three Chinese cities were recruited. Respondents' BCEs and uncertainty stress were self-reported using online questionnaire. The structure of the BCEs-uncertainty stress and related centrality indicators were examined for this sample.ResultsThe overall network model showed that “no ways to suit the important changes in life” was the most influential, followed by “all things are not going well,” “feel that there is nothing to do,” and “worry about the future.” And in this network, the most influential bridge symptom was “having a positive self-concept.”ConclusionThe central symptoms of the BCEs-uncertainty stress network should be prioritized as targets in interventions and prevention efforts to reduce uncertainty stress among Chinese university students. Improving university students' positive self-concept is important to alleviate the level of uncertainty stress among Chinese university students.

ObjectivesThe prognostic impact of marital status on malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is not investigated. This paper probes into the relationship between the prognosis of MPM and marital status.Materials and methodsThe Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database of American had been applied to choose eligible patients over the 2004–2015 periods. Moreover, cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) of unmarried and married groups were compared.ResultsA total of 3,997 patients in total had been identified, including 2,735 (68.43%) married patients. In comparison to unmarried patients, married ones tended to be younger, male, white, and received active treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy). In addition, the 1, 3, and 5-year CSS rates were 44.40, 12.09, and 6.88% in married patients, while 35.75, 12.12, and 6.37% in unmarried group (p = 0.0014). At the same time, the 1, 3, and 5-year OS rates were 41.84, 10.56, and 5.91% in married patients, while 33.67, 10.44, and 4.93%, respectively, in the unmarried group (p < 0.0001). As revealed by the multivariate analysis results, the marital status was an independent favorable prognostic factor, in which the married groups showed better CSS [hazard ratio (HR): 0.870; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.808–0.938; p < 0.001] as well as OS (HR: 0.871; 95% CI: 0.810–0.936; p < 0.001). According to the results of subgroup analysis, the CSS and OS survival of married groups were better than the unmarried groups in almost all the subgroups.ConclusionMarital status is an independent favorable prognostic indicator of MPM. Poor prognosis in unmarried patients is likely to be related to insufficient treatments and socioeconomic and psychosocial factors.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a common critical illness in respiratory care units with a huge public health burden. Despite tremendous advances in the prevention and treatment of ARDS, it remains the main cause of intensive care unit (ICU) management, and the mortality rate of ARDS remains unacceptably high. The poor performance of ARDS is closely related to its heterogeneous clinical syndrome caused by complicated pathophysiology. Based on the different pathophysiology phases, drugs, protective mechanical ventilation, conservative fluid therapy, and other treatment have been developed to serve as the ARDS therapeutic methods. In recent years, there has been a rapid development in nanomedicine, in which nanoparticles as drug delivery vehicles have been extensively studied in the treatment of ARDS. This study provides an overview of pharmacologic therapies for ARDS, including conventional drugs, natural medicine therapy, and nanomedicine. Particularly, we discuss the unique mechanism and strength of nanomedicine which may provide great promises in treating ARDS in the future.

Mutations in the B-Raf proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase (BRAF), have been linked to a variety of solid tumors such as papillary thyroid carcinoma. The purpose of this study was to compare the DP-TOF, a DNA mass spectroscopy (MS) platform, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods for detecting multiple-gene mutations (including BRAFV600E) in thyroid nodule fine-needle aspiration fluid. In this study, we collected samples from 93 patients who had previously undergone NGS detection and had sufficient DNA samples remaining. The MS method was used to detect multiple-gene mutations (including BRAFV600E) in DNA remaining samples. NGS detection method was used as the standard. The MS method’s overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) were 95.8%, 100%, 100%, and 88%, respectively in BRAFV600E gene mutation detection. With a kappa-value of 0.92 (95%CI 0.82–0.99), the level of agreement between these methods was incredibly high. Furthermore, when compared to NGS in multiple-gene detection, the MS method demonstrated higher sensitivity and specificity, 82.9% and 100%, respectively. In addition, we collected the postoperative pathological findings of 50 patients. When the postoperative pathological findings were used as the standard, the MS method demonstrated higher sensitivity and specificity, at 80% and 80%, respectively. Our findings show that the MS method can be used as an inexpensive, accurate, and dependable initial screening method to detect genes mutations and as an adjunct to clinical diagnosis.

This study examined associations between hair, salivary, serum, and urinary cortisol concentration with adiposity-related indicators in children, and explored their potential effects modification by age, sex, cortisol measurement method, and country developmental context. We systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase for studies examining at least one of the four aforementioned cortisol with objectively measured adiposity-related outcomes in children. Meta-analyses of cross-sectional studies revealed that hair cortisol concentration was associated with fat mass index (FMI)-standard deviation score (SDS)/FMI z-score (pooled-β = 0.04, 95% CI: 0.01, 0.08) and BMI/BMI z-score (pooled-β = 0.15, 95% CI: 0.06, 0.25), and these associations were significant among children aged ≤ 12 years (pooled-β = 0.15, 95% CI: 0.05, 0.26) and >12 years (pooled-β = 0.13, 95% CI: 0.04, 0.22), children from developed countries (pooled β = 0.12, 95% CI: 0.03, 0.21) and developing countries (pooled-β = 0.193, 95% CI: 0.188, 0.198), and in studies extracting cortisol via LC-MS/MS (pooled-β = 0.18, 95% CI: 0.06, 0.29) but not ELISA (pooled-β = 0.08, 95% CI: −0.06, 0.22). Meta-analyses of both cohort and cross-sectional studies revealed non-significant associations of morning salivary cortisol concentration and total daily cortisol output with BMI/BMI z-score. Serum cortisol concentration was not associated with BMI or waist circumference. Meta-analysis of urinary cortisol concentration and adiposity was hindered by insufficient data. In RFID-assisted applications, the customers often request to provide the tag searching service to determine which specific tags are present in the system. In practice, tags are usually divided into different groups to represent different categories or brands. We found that the traditional tag searching protocols are not very appropriate for multi-group RFID scenarios because they cannot ensure that the searching results of each group satisfy the predefined reliability requirements. Therefore, we develop a series of effective multi-group tag searching schemes. B-Search is a basic method that leverages the filter vector and the indicator vector to perform tag searching for each group sequentially. G-Search and A-Search are two parallel multi-group tag searching schemes. G-Search selects the longest frame length as the frame length of all groups, while A-Search can adaptively adjust the frame length of each group to improve the searching efficiency. We evaluate the performance of the proposed protocols through theoretical analysis and discuss the optimal parameter settings to minimize the execution time. Extensive simulations illustrate that both G-Search and A-Search can achieve fast and effective multi-group tag searching.

Objectives: The study aims to investigate genetic characterization of molecular targets and clinicopathological features with gastrointestinal stromal tumors based on targeted next-generation sequencing.Materials and Methods: We selected 106 patients with GISTs from Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital between July 2019 and March 2021. FFPE samples and paired blood samples were obtained from these patients who underwent excision of the tumor. A customized targeted-NGS panel of nine GIST-associated genes was designed to detect variants in the coding regions and the splicing sites of these genes.Results: In total, 106 patients with a GIST were included in the study which presented with various molecular driver alterations in this study. KIT mutations occurred most often in GISTs (94/106, 95.92%), followed by point mutations in PDGFRA. KIT or PDGFRA mutations were detected to be mutually exclusive in the GIST. A total of eight patients with wide-type KIT/PDGFRA were characterized as WT-GISTs, according to clinical diagnosis which included six quadruple-WT GISTs, 1 BRAF-mutant, and 1 NF1-mutant GIST. In KIT exon 11, the most common mutation type was the codon Mutation (in-frame deletion or indels), whereas the missense mutation was the dominant type in KIT exon 13 and KIT exon 17. All variations in KIT exon 11 observed in this study were concentrated at a certain position of codon 550 to codon 576. Mutation in KIT exon 9 was mostly located at codon 502–503. Two germline pathogenic mutations were detected: NF1-R681* and KRAS-T58I. NF1-L591P was a germline mutation to be identified for the first time and is not recorded in the database. The frequency of driving mutations differed between the primary anatomical site in the GIST (p = 0.0206). KIT exon 11 mutants had a lower proliferation index of Ki67 (68.66%,≤5%), while 50.00% of KIT exon 9 mutants had the Ki67 status greater than 10%.Conclusion: The occurrence and development of a GIST is driven by different molecular variations. Resistance to TKIs arises mainly with resistance mutations in KIT or PDGFRA when they are the primary drivers. Targeted NGS can simultaneously and efficiently detect nine GIST-related gene mutations and provide reference for clinicians’ individualized diagnosis and treatment. Our results have important implications for clinical management.

Abstract A high efficiency, wide input range radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting system with capacitor load is presented, applied for harvesting the energy from amplitude modulation (AM) broadcast. The chip is fabricated in 55 nm complementary metal‐oxide‐semiconductor (CMOS) technology, and the active chip area is 1.63 mm2. The number of stages of the rectifier is reconfigurable to improve the power efficiency when the voltage across the capacitor changes during charge accumulation. A dual‐path rectifier with the switch in parallel is adopted to extend the input power range of high power efficiency (>20%). Meanwhile, to achieve the high sensitivity, a 4 nA static current‐voltage reference supplying for low‐power loop controller is also proposed. The measurement results show that the average power efficiency is improved up to 48.7% when the capacitor load is charged from 0 to 2 V and at least 6.3% improvement compared to fixed stages rectifier. The high power efficiency range is improved by 20 dB, while the single‐path reconfigurable rectifiers can only maintain the high power conversion efficiency range for a 14‐dB range. The measured RF input power sensitivity is −34.2 dBm for a 1 V output voltage.

Gesture air-writing is an advanced nontouching interaction method that replaces traditional typewriter keyboards, touch screens and other input devices. Due to its low power consumption, noncontact detection and independence from light conditions, millimeter wave radar has become a valuable gesture air-writing solution. In this paper, we proposed a prototype of a gesture air-writing tracking system that is based on the 24-GHz frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar system-on-chip (SoC). The transmitted chirp signal of this radar chip covers up to a 4-GHz bandwidth, which provides sufficient range resolution to track hand gestures. With the development of single input, multiple output (SIMO) antennas, the air-writing symbols can be reconstructed in an observation plane. A system design and signal processing algorithm for gesture air-writing applications is proposed for the prototype system in this paper. To test the performance of the proposed method, experiments with cases of five simple gestures, air-writing numbers and letter tracking are carried out. The experimental results verify the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method.

Background: There has been minimal research on the role of benevolent childhood experiences (BCEs) and how such events may offer protection from the insidious effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) or later in life. Objectives: This research aims to learn how BCEs and ACEs interact to affect adolescents’ psychological distress. Methods: Cross-sectional survey was conducted in three cities (Xuzhou, Nanjing, and Wuhan) in China from March 2021 to May 2021. Latent class analysis (LCA) was used to classify the patterns of ACEs and BCEs. We adopted hierarchical multivariable regression to examine the influences of ACEs and BCEs on depression and suicidal ideation. Results: To explore the relationship between childhood experience and suicidal ideation and depression, LCA revealed three patterns of ACEs: (1) emotional abuse (10.57%); (2) high ACEs (0.55%); and (3) low ACEs classes (88.88%). Adolescents with emotional abuse (depression: OR = 3.82, 95%CI = 2.80–5.22, P < 0.001; suicidal ideation: OR = 5.766, 95%CI = 3.97–8.38, P < 0.001) and high ACEs class (suicidal ideation: OR = 5.93, 95%CI = 1.19–29.66, P < 0.05) had an increased risk of psychological distress (reference: low ACEs). LCA revealed four patterns of BCEs: (1) relationship support (14.54%); (2) low BCEs (4.85%); (3) high BCEs (55.34%); and (4) high quality of life classes (25.28%). Adolescents with a high quality of life (depression: OR = 0.09, 95%CI = 0.05–0.16, P < 0.001; suicidal ideation: OR = 0.22, 95%CI = 0.12–0.40, P < 0.001) and high BCEs (depression: OR = 0.05, 95%CI = 0.03–0.09, P < 0.001; suicidal ideation: OR = 0.15, 95%CI = 0.09–0.26, P < 0.001) protected the mental health of adolescents (reference: low BCEs). Conclusions: High ACEs and emotional abuse classes were significantly associated with poorer mental health symptoms, including suicidal ideation and depression. In contrast, high BCEs and high quality of life classes were associated with better mental health. These findings point out that it is more necessary to identify and support victims of ACEs, and it is urgent to increase BCEs in early childhood.

Tamoxifen (TAM) is the most commonly used adjuvant endocrine drug for hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer patients. However, how to accurately evaluate the risk of breast cancer recurrence and metastasis after adjuvant TAM therapy is still a major concern. In recent years, many studies have shown that the clinical outcomes of TAM-treated breast cancer patients are influenced by the activity of some cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes that catalyze the formation of active TAM metabolites like endoxifen and 4-hydroxytamoxifen. In this study, we aimed to first develop and validate an algorithm combining polymorphisms in CYP genes and clinicopathological signatures to identify a subpopulation of breast cancer patients who might benefit most from TAM adjuvant therapy and meanwhile evaluate major risk factors related to TAM resistance. Specifically, a total of 256 patients with invasive breast cancer who received adjuvant endocrine therapy were selected. The genotypes at 10 loci from three TAM metabolism-related CYP genes were detected by time-of-flight mass spectrometry and multiplex long PCR. Combining the 10 loci with nine clinicopathological characteristics, we obtained 19 important features whose association with cancer recurrence was assessed by importance score via random forests. After that, a logistic regression model was trained to calculate TAM risk-of-recurrence score (TAM RORs), which is adopted to assess a patient’s risk of recurrence after TAM treatment. The sensitivity and specificity of the model in an independent test cohort were 86.67% and 64.56%, respectively. This study showed that breast cancer patients with high TAM RORs were less sensitive to TAM treatment and manifested more invasive characteristics, whereas those with low TAM RORs were highly sensitive to TAM treatment, and their conditions were stable during the follow-up period. There were some risk factors that had a significant effect on the efficacy of TAM. They were tissue classification (tumor Grade < 2 vs. Grade ≥ 2, p = 2.2e−16), the number of lymph node metastases (Node-Negative vs. Node < 4, p = 5.3e−07; Node < 4 vs. Node ≥ 4, p = 0.003; Node-Negative vs. Node ≥ 4, p = 7.2e−15), and the expression levels of estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) (ER < 50% vs. ER ≥ 50%, p = 1.3e−12; PR < 50% vs. PR ≥ 50%, p = 2.6e−08). The really remarkable thing is that different genotypes of CYP2D6*10(C188T) show significant differences in prediction function (CYP2D6*10 CC vs. TT, p < 0.019; CYP2D6*10 CT vs. TT, p < 0.037). There are more than 50% Chinese who have CYP2D6*10 mutation. So the genotype of CYP2D6*10(C188T) should be tested before TAM therapy.

Background: Suicide is moderately heritable and also more common in those who report childhood abuse. Previously, it was found that allele A of GABRG2 (GABA A receptor subunit gamma2) polymorphism rs211034 was protective in a suicide attempt (SA). Hence, it was proposed that rs211034 may interact with childhood trauma to influence cognitive deficits related to SA or depression risk. Genetic variants may predict the benefits of certain cognitive treatments.Methods: A total of 52 individuals who had attempted suicide, 59 individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD) or bipolar depression who had not previously attempted suicide, and 90 healthy volunteers were subjected to the modified Suicide Stroop task and were clinically assessed using the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and Hamilton Depression Scale-24 items (HAMD-24). rs211034 was genotyped using Sanger sequencing.Results: After correcting for covariates, depressed participants displayed longer reaction times for all emotional conditions, including suicide-related words, compared with healthy controls. Depressed suicide attempters displayed longer reaction times for negative words than depressed non-attempters. Depressed non-attempters displayed higher interference scores for negative words compared with healthy controls. There was an interaction between rs211034 risk allele and the effects of reported childhood sexual abuse (CSA) on reaction time for all emotional words and suicide-related words. Carriers of the rs211034 risk allele A exhibited shorter reaction times, but the protective effects of this allele were eliminated in those exposed to reported CSA.Conclusion: Only limited results were found regarding effects of a past suicide attempt on response times to emotional and suicide-related words, but there was an overall effect of major depression on slower response time. Protective genetic effects of the rs211034 A allele on this slowing were eliminated in those with a history of sexual abuse during childhood. Further research is needed to better characterize the mechanisms underlying the effects of childhood trauma on these genetic effects.

Abstract An ultra‐low power, low temperature coefficient voltage reference generator used for nanowatt‐level passive sensor systems is presented. The voltage reference configuration, based on a voltage reference generating circuit embedded in the feedback loop, realises an average reference voltage (VREF) of 837.2 mV and 40 μA maximum load current. The temperature coefficient of VREF is compensated by a saturated diode‐connected the positive channel Metal Oxide Semiconductor (PMOS) and a proportional to absolute temperature current. For supply voltages ranging from 0.86 to 3 V, this proposed voltage reference simulated in 55 nm a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) process consumes an average current of 10 nA at room temperature and achieves a minimum temperature coefficient of 8.1 ppm/°C from −40°C to 125°C. The mean line sensitivity is 0.17%/V and the coefficient of variation is 2.1%.

This paper proposes a low-power fractional-N all-digital PLL (ADPLL) for the narrow-band Internet-of-Things applications. Multi-step lock controlling and oscillator tuning word coarse prediction algorithms help to accelerate the locking process to less than $20~\mu \text{s}$ . A digital-to-time converter (DTC) is used with a phase prediction algorithm to minimize the detection range of the time-to-digital converter for low power consumption. The $\Sigma \Delta $ dither block is designed to improve the nonlinearity of DTC resulting in a −40-dBc in-band spur suppression. A low supply of 0.6-V digitally controlled oscillator has the frequency coverage of 1.5–2.05 GHz. Fabricated in a 55-nm CMOS, the ADPLL occupies an active area of 0.88 mm2 and consumes 4 mW at 1.8 GHz. With a 24-MHz reference clock, the measurement results show that this work achieves better than −94-dBc/Hz in-band phase noise and −120.5 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset of 1.83-GHz carrier frequency. The FoM value is −233.4 dB, and the reference spur is −76.3 dBc.

We collected COVID-19 epidemiological and epidemic control measures-related data in mainland China during the period January 1 to February 19, 2020, and empirically tested the practical effects of the epidemic control measures implemented in China by applying the econometrics approach. The results show that nationally, both traffic control and social distancing have played an important role in controlling the outbreak of the epidemic, however, neither of the two measures have had a significant effect in low-risk areas. Moreover, the effect of traffic control is more successful than that of social distancing. Both measures complement each other, and their combined effect achieves even better results. These findings confirm the effectiveness of the measures currently in place in China, however, we would like to emphasize that control measures should be more tailored, which implemented according to each specific city's situation, in order to achieve a better epidemic prevention and control.

With the development of high throughput technologies, there are more and more protein–protein interaction (PPI) networks available, which provide a need for efficient computational tools for network alignment. Network alignment is widely used to predict functions of certain proteins, identify conserved network modules, and study the evolutionary relationship across species or biological entities. However, network alignment is an NP-complete problem, and previous algorithms are usually slow or less accurate in aligning big networks like human vs. yeast. In this study, we proposed a fast yet accurate algorithm called Network Alignment by Integrating Biological Process (NAIGO). Specifically, we first divided the networks into subnets taking the advantage of known prior knowledge, such as gene ontology. For each subnet pair, we then developed a novel method to align them by considering both protein orthologous information and their local structural information. After that, we expanded the obtained local network alignments in a greedy manner. Taking the aligned pairs as seeds, we formulated the global network alignment problem as an assignment problem based on similarity matrix, which was solved by the Hungarian method. We applied NAIGO to align human and Saccharomyces cerevisiae S288c PPI network and compared the results with other popular methods like IsoRank, GRAAL, SANA, and NABEECO. As a result, our method outperformed the competitors by aligning more orthologous proteins or matched interactions. In addition, we found a few potential functional orthologous proteins such as RRM2B in human and DNA2 in S. cerevisiae S288c, which are related to DNA repair. We also identified a conserved subnet with six orthologous proteins EXO1, MSH3, MSH2, MLH1, MLH3, and MSH6, and six aligned interactions. All these proteins are associated with mismatch repair. Finally, we predicted a few proteins of S. cerevisiae S288c potentially involving in certain biological processes like autophagosome assembly.
