COCAINE , *MILITARY invasion - Abstract
The article focuses on the reports that cocaine was found hidden in a freezer in Manual Noriega's house. There has been an admission by the Pentagon that the substance in question was not cocaine, but tamales wrapped in banana leaves. According to the author, American virtue and innocence in an ugly world has been the sustaining narrative of the Panama invasion, and it is now used as a defense in the tamale episode. This incident may be the first sign that the pulp fiction demonology of the Panama invasion is unraveling.
