The publication presents test results and analysis of the impact of military aircraft on an airport pavement made of pre-stressed panels. Three types of aircraft were used in the experiment, i.e. TS 11 ISKRA aircraft, SU 7 BM aircraft and SU-22 M4 aircraft. In the field tests, geophysical methods were used to measure the dynamic properties of the airport pavement structure. Based on the few vibration measurement methods of this type of construction that can be used, the vibration level of the pavement caused by the aircraft operating on that surface was recorded. The tests were carried out for various levels of aircraft thrust, the degree of harmfulness of the impact of generated vibrations on the pavement by sources of excitement, which were the above-mentioned aircraft, was assessed. Due to the fact that the research was one of the first to be carried out in the country, and such research is rare, there are no publications devoted to this issue also in foreign literature. Therefore, there are no reliable and credible criteria for assessing the impact of vibrations on these constructions. In the assessment of dynamic phenomena, by analogy, assessment methods and criteria related to general construction facilities were used. The most frequently used criteria for assessing dynamic interactions are based on the vibration speed criterion. The manuscript intends to demonstrate the impact of aircraft operating fluids on the parameters of airfield hardened concrete. In the studies conducted over the longer term than provided for in the applicable standards, the impact of these operating fluids on the durability of C 30/37 concrete composed with the use of basalt and granite aggregate was determined. The tests showed that the discussed operating fluids have a destructive effect on airfield runway concrete to a varying degree. The currently applied agents that protect runway pavement against its deterioration fulfil their function only in a limited scope. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Coarse aggregate used as part of cement concrete is of primary significance for the obtained parameters of hardened concrete. In case of concretes intended for airfield pavements, the application of granite grit is recommended. Alternative to this type of aggregate in the form of porphyry and amphibolites aggregate was suggested. In order to assess the suitability of different aggregate types for concrete mixes, their bulk density, absorbability, polishing resistance, abrasion and crushing resistance were determined. Also, the internal structure of the suggested aggregates and its influence on changes of hardened concrete composite structure were subject to the assessment. The influence of aggregate type on the structure of cement matrix and contact areas between the matrix and aggregate grains were specified. The observed changes, in case of the internal structure of concretes based on porphyry and amphibolites aggregates, with reference to granite aggregate, resulted in changes of mechanical and physical parameters. Analyses included the determination of bulk density, absorbability, compression, bending and splitting resistance. According to the obtained laboratory test results, the significant influence of the aggregate type applied to the mix on parameters of hardened concrete, with regard to the application thereof to the airfield pavements was proved.
