Abstract In recent decades, the concept of e-marketing has been expanding and taking on a new meaning every day. E-marketing can bring new business opportunities. The purpose of this research was structural analysis of new business creation by identifying and developing electronic marketing opportunities in companies based in the growth center. In this applied research, descriptive-field methods were used to collect data. The statistical population of this research is 400 employees of companies located in the growth center and science and technology park, of which 196 people were selected as a sample using Cochran's formula. The data collection tools are two Likert scale questionnaires and paired comparisons questionnaires. The validity of the research tool was confirmed by the opinions of several professors and its reliability was confirmed through Cronbach's alpha with a coefficient of 0.83. SEM-PLS method was used in Smart-PLS-3 software for data analysis and AHP was used in Expert Choice for ranking. The findings show that all aspects of electronic marketing opportunities have been effective in creating new business. Also, the result of prioritizing the components of E-marketing opportunities, customization with a rank of 0.237 was considered to have a higher degree of importance than all dimensions. E-marketing opportunities exist in many forms. In order to create a new business, the need to exploit each of these opportunities in the context of electronic marketing, such as customization, creating innovation, etc., can expect business growth and development at the international level as well.Introduction In recent years, the establishment of new businesses has garnered significant attention as a key factor in economic development. Entrepreneurial activities are among the primary drivers of industrial dynamism, economic development, and growth. Businesses play a fundamental role in the functioning of economies. Therefore, entrepreneurship and the creation of new businesses are recognized as catalysts for innovation, employment, and economic growth.A healthy economy is identified by an appropriate number of existing businesses and a continuous process of creating new businesses (business flow). The elimination of physical boundaries has occurred with the recent expansion of electronic and digital communication channels, such as mobile phones and the Internet. Leading digital companies often distinguish themselves through new business models. Finding the right business model is a challenge for entrepreneurs. These innovative entrepreneurial approaches coincide with recent trends in small-scale investments utilizing digital technologies to expand their core capabilities. Indeed, advancements in information and communication technology have led to widespread transformations in the lives of individuals, businesses, and marketing practices. As a result, electronic marketing constitutes a significant portion of marketers' attention and corporate budgets.Although research has been conducted on challenges and opportunities for startups, initiating new businesses, electronic marketing, and innovation, no research has yet addressed the identification and development of electronic marketing opportunities for starting a new business. Therefore, this research aims to conduct a structural-functional analysis of establishing a new business using the identification and development of electronic marketing opportunities in companies based in growth centers.Case study The companies that located in the growth center and science and technology park of Sistan and Baluchistan province.Materials and Methods The current research, in terms of its objective and application, is descriptive-applied, and in terms of methodology, it is descriptive-field. The data analysis method employed is a combination of quantitative methods, including Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with a partial least squares approach using Smart-PLS software. For ranking purposes, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been utilized in the analysis.Discussion and Results The findings indicate that the dimensions of value-added (0.317), creating competitive advantage (0.242), quality differentiation (0.558), blue ocean strategy (0.175), export growth (0.127), customization (0.150), e-marketing opportunities (0.207), market dynamism (0.182), competitiveness driving force (0.112), innovation orientation (0.199), and market integration (0.158) significantly impact the establishment of a new business. Additionally, the prioritization results of e-marketing opportunities components show that customization, with a rank of 0.237, is considered the most important dimension among all factors. This means that it is the most influential component in e-marketing opportunities. Integration, with a coefficient of 0.214, holds the second position, and competitive advantage, with a rank of 0.166, is in the third position. Therefore, according to the experts' perspective in the study, three crucial variables have been identified.ConclusionUpon reflection on the evolution of online methods in service delivery, one can observe the success and impact of utilizing virtual space knowledge in a way that certain phenomena have successfully operated and achieved better and more desirable results by intelligently employing these methods in the modern age. Online marketing, viral marketing (electronic word-of-mouth), social media, and similar tools can all contribute to the facilitation of a new business. Numerous goods and services are presented by individuals, especially women or those who cannot be present in the community full-time. These individuals, through electronic marketing, can easily showcase their products or services in the market without physical presence and generate income. Especially in special circumstances, such as the current societal conditions and restrictions on people's movement to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, electronic marketing finds greater prominence and is considered one of the most crucial avenues. Through research and study in this field, seven dimensions were identified for the electronic marketing opportunities variable, including: 1. Market Integration (with two components: price fairness and non-restriction of working time and place). 2. Customization (with two components: potential opportunities and perceived usefulness). 3. Competitiveness Driving Forces (with two components: market performance and time-saving orientation). 4. Market Dynamism (with two components: use of social networks and customer relationship management). 5. Creating Competitive Advantage (with two components: supply chain management and quality content production). 6. Blue Ocean Strategy (with two components: use of desirable new technologies and target market evaluation strategy). 7. Export Growth (with two components: convenience motivation and quality of electronic services).

- Abstract
The global economies and international organizations are inclined towards sustainable growth, technological advancements and product innovations. China is the leading economy in information and communication technologies and among the major industrially expanded economies covering a substantial share of the global market in exports. The prime objective of this study is to explore the role of digitalization and Information and communication technologies (ICT) for product innovation (PIN). In doing so, the study also attempts to draw some novel implications regarding business, entrepreneurship, and product innovation in the lens of sustainability. This current study use the annual data of China from 1990–2020. The empirical analysis was conducted using the stationarity testing and the Johansen cointegration test. In addition, due to the data's asymmetrical distribution, the non-parametric "quantile regression" is used. For robustness, this study employs the Fully Modified Ordinary Least Square, Canonical Cointegration, and Dynamic Ordinary Least Square methods. The empirical results reveal that economic progress and financial development are substantial factors of product innovation. The robust analysis reveals that medium and high-tech industries and information and communication technology adversely affect product innovation. Further, the presence of financial development transforms the negative influence of information and communication technology into a positive. The current study concludes more investments in the technological industry are required to encourage product innovation in China. The study discusses some policy-related implications in the context of business sustainability and product innovation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ENTREPRENEURSHIP ,RESEARCH awards - Abstract
This essay reflects on the last few decades' evolution of Ideas, Evidence, Concepts, and Methods in the multidisciplinary, multi-level, and multi-methodological field of entrepreneurship research. Using illustrations from my own career and how prior recipients of the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research guided and inspired them, I describe the journey from early empirical exploration to understand the nature of the phenomenon to more recent, endogenous theory-development and -testing, heralding each as an indispensable steppingstone in meaningful knowledge development. The essay ends with an ode to the collective, co-creating nature of our knowledge-building enterprise. Plain English Summary: Over the past few decades, entrepreneurship research has developed an increasingly high-quality body of knowledge that is relevant to policy and business practice. This essay reflects on the co-creative nature of this development as well as my personal role in it. The main implications are (1) for research: contributions come in many flavors and are typically collaborative in one way or the other; (2) for practice: while some entrepreneurship research may seem esoteric to practitioners, it also offers solid research evidence on highly practice-relevant matters like how growth and profitability are related that practitioners ignore at their own peril; and (3) for society: entrepreneurship undoubtedly performs a very important, positive function in society; yet, we need to distinguish between those 'entrepreneurial' endeavors that make a net contribution to societal interests and those that do not. The integration of industry and education is a key element of the new business talent cultivation system, and the construction of virtual simulation experiments is an important way to innovate the practical teaching system in universities. This article introduces the construction of virtual simulation and shared experimental base, deepening cooperation between schools and enterprises, constructing a virtual simulation reality teaching system toward the integration of management and engineering, and forging integrated virtual simulation experimental teaching resources for the "new business education". A new model of information technology experimental teaching method that combines "online and offline classes", "virtual and reality", "in and after class" teaching techniques is formed. This article also establishes a virtual experimental teaching system through the integration of industry and education, as well as the cross disciplinary integration of business, science and engineering. The aim is to cultivate students' innovation spirit and practical ability, to remedy the shortcomings of traditional business majors in practical teaching, and to provide a reference for the cultivation of new business talents in digital intelligence and the construction of virtual simulation practice bases. - Abstract
In this paper, we devise a stochastic asset–liability management (ALM) model for a life insurance company and analyze its influence on the balance sheet within a low-interest rate environment. In particular, a flexible procedure for the generation of insurers' compressed contract portfolios that respects the given biometric structure is presented, extending the existing literature on stochastic ALM modeling. The introduced balance sheet model is in line with the principles of double-entry bookkeeping as required in accounting. We further focus on the incorporation of new business, i.e. the addition of newly concluded contracts and thus of insured in each period. Efficient simulations are obtained by integrating new policies into existing cohorts according to contract-related criteria. We provide new results on the consistency of the balance sheet equations. In extensive simulation studies for different scenarios regarding the business form of today's life insurers, we utilize these to analyze the long-term behavior and the stability of the components of the balance sheet for different asset–liability approaches. Finally, we investigate the robustness of two prominent investment strategies against crashes in the capital markets, which lead to extreme liquidity shocks and thus threaten the insurer's financial health. In this paper, we study a general mean-variance reinsurance, new business and investment problem, where the claim processes of original and new businesses are modeled by two different risk processes and the safety loadings of reinsurance and new business are different. The retention level of the insurer is constrained in [ 0 , 1 ] and the controls of new business and risky investment are required to be non-negative. This model relaxes the limitations of those in existing research. By using the projection onto the convex set controls valued in, we obtain an open-loop equilibrium reinsurance-new business-investment strategy explicitly. We also show that the obtained equilibrium strategy is the optimal one among all deterministic strategies in the sense that it yields the smallest mean-variance cost. In the case where original and new businesses are the same, the equilibrium strategy is given in closed-form and its sensitivities to safety loadings are shown by numerical examples. At last, by comparing with the case where acquiring new business is prohibited, we show that allowing writing new policies indeed improves the performance of the insurer's risk management. We combine insights from behavioral and skill perspectives on network agency to address how entrepreneurs' networking with close social ties and weak ties influences business launch, and the extent to which social skills strengthened or weakened these influences. Combining network perspectives previously developed in parallel, we fill in the gap of how well entrepreneurs are networking. We find frequent networking with close social ties increases entrepreneurs' chances of business launch when they have high social skills, but decreases their chances when they have low social skills, while networking with weak ties increases chances of business launch regardless of social skills. - Abstract
Amazonia is facing growing environmental pressures and deep social injustices that prompt questions about how sustainable development may emerge. This study sought novel sustainability initiatives in the Brazilian Amazon based on interviews conducted with diverse practitioners in 2021 using a horizon-scanning approach and snowball sampling for selecting interviewees, who then described the initiative most familiar to them. The interviews resulted in 50 described initiatives and 101 similar initiatives that were listed but not described. The results reveal the emergence of a range of sustainability initiatives, which we classify into seven types of new seeds of change ranging from eco-business opportunities, territorial protection by grassroots movements, and novel coalitions promoting sustainability. However, most of these new seeds are still being established and have a limited or uncertain potential for replication, and most offer only incremental rather than transformative development. Therefore, although these initiatives provide weak yet real signals for alternative futures, they also suggest that much more needs to be done to support the needed transformation toward sustainable and equitable development. This paper analyses the influence of career choice and entrepreneurial intention on new venture creation among African university students. Besides, we explore how the social context may affect new venture creation, taking into account the inner circle of entrepreneurs, the organisational environment and the larger environment. To test our hypotheses, data from the 2018 Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS) were used. We focused on nascent entrepreneurs, who are starting a new business, from Algeria, Sierra Leone and South Africa. Our findings contribute to fill the gap in the literature on the link between entrepreneurial intention and entrepreneurial behaviour, and it is one of the few studies addressed to the entrepreneurial African context. The article discusses current digitalization trends from the perspective of business innovation management, the relevance of which has increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The relationship between the innovative and digital profile indicators and the level of entrepreneurship development is analysed and substantiated based on the world and European experience in general and Azerbaijan in particular. The study's main goal is empirical confirmation, formalization, and evaluation of digitalization's impact on entrepreneurship development in Azerbaijan, some European and Asian countries to improve public policy in the areas under study. For achieving the study goals, scientific methods of statistical, analytical, graphical, correlation and regression analysis, and economic and mathematical modelling using Excel and Stata software products were applied. The information base of the study is formed from scientific papers and publications in the field of innovation management, digital economy, and entrepreneurship, as well as World Bank data for a sample of 14 countries in Europe and Asia (Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovak Republic, and Ukraine) for 2006-2020. The author characterized trends in the total number of new firms, the overall density of business and the density of new business in the countries included in the sample, and indicators of the relative cost of procedures and the time to start a business in the studied countries. Particular attention is paid to the export and import of ICT goods, communication and computer services. A panel data regression model with fixed effects has been built to determine the influence of digitalization parameters on the business sector's development parameters. Evaluating the impact of digitalization on entrepreneurship development in Azerbaijan and other European and Asian countries could be useful to scientists, researchers, public authorities and local governments, business structures, and entrepreneurs. In this study, we examine whether auditors use a new business as a bargaining chip in audit pricing. Taking the launch of China's pilot regional emissions-trading schemes (ETSs) as a quasi-natural experiment, we find that mandatory participation in an ETS results in increased audit fees subsequent to implementation of the regulation. Adopting both empirical and textual analyses to exclude three alternative explanations (auditing effort, audit risk, and reporting risk), our results suggest that a new business is used as a bargaining chip by auditors when they negotiate audit fees with their clients. Additional empirical tests suggest that pilot companies experience an increase in audit fees after ETS implementation only when the companies have less importance to the auditors, companies' CFOs do not have experience working in an accounting firm and signing auditors are better educated. These findings demonstrate that the mandatory implementation of an ETS creates a new accounting business and alters the auditor–auditee bargaining dynamics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Information technology as a more intermediary utilizes the science of the day to provide the necessary data for the specialists, organizations, and ultimately all types of groups in the shortest possible time and in the best possible way. Many countries believe that entrepreneurship has played an indispensable role in improving productivity and economic growth. Since the benefits of tourism industry in the regional process through the creation of foreign exchange earnings lead to economic growth and in the local procedures through the creation of jobs the consistent distribution of income will improve lives of the people, developing countries see the prosperity of tourism as a way for the economic development in all aspects. The purpose of this study is to identify and prioritize new business opportunities in the electronic tourism industry of Chabahar city. In the present article which conducted in 2018 thirty people were selected from the active tourism industry in the area for the research sample. Expert choice software was used to analyze the data. Entrepreneurial passion is seen as a valuable predictor of entrepreneurs' behavior and performance. We explored what makes entrepreneurs passionate by adopting a qualitative research method from a social support perspective. To test our hypotheses we conducted a survey with 287 young entrepreneurs in China. Using structural equation modeling we studied the impact of three types of support from the family on entrepreneurial passion. The results show that financial support and social capital support had a stronger influence on entrepreneurial passion than did emotional support. Further, psychological capital played a partial mediating role in the relationship between family support and entrepreneurial passion. This study enhances the integrity of previous research conclusions on entrepreneurial passion and, in particular, provides further insight into the development of nascent entrepreneurs and their new businesses. - Abstract
This essay reflects on the last few decades’ evolution of Ideas, Evidence, Concepts, and Methods in the multidisciplinary, multi-level, and multi-methodological field of entrepreneurship research.

When a company acquires new knowledge, it expects to create new business by fusing the new knowledge with existing knowledge. At least that is how things appear superficially. However, Fujitsu’s new business development discussed in this paper was not related to any new knowledge but sprung up because of other reasons. Because the company had invested a lot of resources to acquire new knowledge, it was impossible to recover the management resources that it had invested, which then became sunk costs, unless the company did something. We call such a situation “sunk cost pressure.” In the case examined in this paper, this sunk cost pressure induced the combining of disparate knowledge in the company’s possession, thus creating new business.

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a highly inheritable condition with a rather stable prevalence over time and geography, and it is associated with a broad range of negative life outcomes. Increasing knowledge on the condition has led to a growing trend of dampening ADHD symptoms through medication. Although this development has led to many positive outcomes, the broader societal implications are still poorly understood. In particular, person-level studies suggest that ADHD-like behavior may possess some advantages for engaging in entrepreneurship and the initiation of new businesses, which is considered a key activity for economic development. Using recent panel data from 11 countries and one special administrative region (SAR), we investigate if the increasing use of ADHD medication in adults is associated with an unintended outcome of reducing entrepreneurship. We find that a roughly one unit increase in the prevalence of adult ADHD medication is associated with a one unit decrease in limited liability company registrations per working age population. In practical terms, the effect of a one within-country/SAR standard deviation increase of adult ADHD medication prevalence corresponds to a decrease in new business formation of 20% of its mean in the sample. Purpose - More and more companies are embarking on an experimental journey into an unpredictable future - a future that is characterised by uncertainty and new challenges. Corporate venturing enables established companies, so-called incumbents, to deal with new markets and business models in a highly flexible and innovative way, besides their existing business and well known, successful business models. A new innovator's dilemma has emerged: not only established companies are required to be increasingly creative and to question existing thought patterns, but it is similar for start ups and new businesses. Research method - After conceptualising the paper and conducting literature bibliometry by VOSviewer, the research gap was identified. It is based on the three presented approaches: Causation, Effectuation and Bricolage as transformative approaches for strategic decision-making. Using a qualitative research by conducting 30 in-depth interviews, a transcription and a MaxQDA analysis, 5 identified corporate venturing tools were shown. Originality/value - The paper introduces a new approach of management which rapidly gains importance and which is crucial for companies in upcoming times to compete with flexible and disruptive start-up based business models. Although only few managers deny the potential of e-businesses, many are struggling with the question how their company can best exploit the Internet. Managers need tools that guide them in their quest for effective applications. In this paper, we present three models that provide structure to this search process. Model development was guided by two requirements: the focus of each model should be on delivering superior customer value, and the models should correspond to models managers are familiar with (e.g., process oriented). The Strategic Internet Applications Model (SIAM) details that e-business strategies can focus on current customers, new customers, the product, or the position within the business network. Companies may decide to customize products or services, or to redefine their role within the business network. The Customer Interaction Cycle (CIC) describes the interaction process between a supplier and a customer, and highlights instances where a supplier can provide added value. The third model is the ADOF model, an acronym for Accessibility, Design, Offer, and Fulfillment. This model embraces the metaphor of a funnel, built up of four sequential rings. The model postulates that the degree of operational success of Web sites can be managed by optimizing the combination of the four rings in the funnel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Glimpsing the possibility of a new business the entrepreneur is faced with the difficulties of the environment and the deterioration of economic conditions in Brazil, these aspects have encouraged people to immigrate, and had the dream of taking. This article aimed to identify the degree of Entrepreneurial Orientation (OE) existing in Brazilians who opted to invest their efforts and started new ventures in the USA. To achieve this goal, a quantitative research was done using the structural equation modeling using the SmartPLS software, using primary data. The population of this research is composed of 3,657 Brazilian businessmen established in the United States who are registered in the Brazilian Association of Entrepreneurs in the United States, the sample comprises 107 entrepreneurs. In order to generate the results, we estimated the structural model in the SmartPLS software, with all the original questions of each construct, in the sequence, we evaluated which ones had a good fit, verified the discriminant validity and the reliability. the structural coefficients were verified and R2 to arrive at the final model. It was identified from the research data that the sample studied has the characteristics proposed by Miller (1983) in the following proportions: 56% for innovation, 78% for proactivity and 73% for risk-taking. These values characterize Brazilians who have immigrated to the United States with a highly proactive behavior, are strongly committed to risk taking and are fairly committed to innovations.

In this paper, we devise a stochastic asset–liability management (ALM) model for a life insurance company and analyze its influence on the balance sheet within a low-interest rate environment. In particular, a flexible procedure for the generation of insurers’ compressed contract portfolios that respects the given biometric structure is presented, extending the existing literature on stochastic ALM modeling. In extensive simulation studies for different scenarios regarding the business form of today’s life insurers, we utilize these to analyze the long-term behavior and the stability of the components of the balance sheet for different asset–liability approaches. Finally, we investigate the robustness of two prominent investment strategies against crashes in the capital markets, which lead to extreme liquidity shocks and thus threaten the insurer’s financial health.

This article aims at understanding the influence of entrepreneurial conditions (or factors) on start-up opportunities for new ventures and, in turn, the impact of such opportunities on the capacity to start an own-business. The methodology and data collected draw upon the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) project. The results of our study are not significantly different between the examined countries (Portugal and Angola). Among several proposed structural relationships, the study concludes that favourable cultural and social norms for entrepreneurship show a positive impact on the education and training in entrepreneurship in the two sub-samples (Portugal and Angola). Although this state- ment is confirmed for both countries, the strength of the relationship is different for each. This study is original as it can assist public policy makers to design improved policies and better allocate resources to increase entrepreneurship.

The purpose of this study is to identify the difference in firm performance and employment growth between successful and failed capital procurement through equity-based crowdfunding. We conduct an empirical analysis using entire crowdfunding projects that attempted to raise capital through equity-based crowdfunding in South Korea in 2016. We summarize our findings as follows. Descriptive statistics show that the survival rate, sales growth rate, profitability growth, absolute employment growth, and employment growth rate of companies with successful crowdfunding are higher than those of companies with failed crowdfunding. However, from the difference analysis, we do not find a significant difference in the survival rate, sales growth rate, and profitability growth between companies with crowdfunding success and companies with crowdfunding failure. We find that the absolute employment growth and employment growth rate are significantly higher for companies that succeeded in crowdfunding projects compared to companies that did not. In this study, we find that the characteristics of these firms that are conducting or verifying new projects through equity-based crowdfunding financing are similar to those of prior studies results confirming the short-term effects of entrepreneurial activities or new business activities on economic performance and employment growth. In particular, it is very meaningful to confirm that the direct effect of employment growth is also found in start-up firms that raise capital through equity-based crowdfunding. By investigating the difference in firm performance and employment outcomes according to the results of equity-based crowdfunding investment, this study provides useful insights to investors for their efforts to validate participation in crowdfunding. Also, our study raises important policy implications for regulators in their efforts to resolve unemployment and the lack of capital problem for startups and new businesses.

DOI: 10.17014/ijog.v1i1.171New technology is needed to protect the safety and health of communities and the environment at ASGM locations in Indonesia. This technology must be simple, cheap, easy to operate, and financially rewarding. A proven option that should be promoted is phytoextraction, a farming activity that could develop agriculture as an alternative livelihood in ASGM areas. This is a technology where plants are used to extract metals from waste rock, soil, or water. These metals can be recovered from the plant in its pure form, then be sold or recycled. Gold phytoextraction is a commercially available technology, while an international research has shown that phytoextraction will also work for mercury. In the context of this idea, tailings would be contained in ‘farming areas’ and cropped using phytoextraction technology. Gold and mercury would be extracted in the crops, with the remaining mercury burden of the tailings becoming adsorbed to soil constituents. The system would be financially rewarding to ‘gold farmers’. The economic value of this scenario could facilitate the clean-up and management of mercury pollution, reducing the movement of mercury from tailings into soil, water, and plants, thereby mitigating environmental and human risk in the mining areas. The goal of the described research is to promote agriculture as an alternative livelihood in ASGM areas. The gold value of the phytoremediation crop should provide a cash incentive to artisanal farmers who develop this new agricultural enterprise. The benefits will be social, environmental, and economic, as opportunities for education, employment, new business, the containment of toxic mercury, food safety and security, and revenue are all realized.

Employment is one of key parameters of the economy, which characterizes its efficiency, possibility of using the labour potential and growth of population’s well-being. The level of employment is the most important indicator of the effectiveness of socio-economic policy of the state. A high level of employment in high-tech and science-intensive business areas is a driver of sustainable economic development of countries, increasing labour productivity, ensuring leadership in the market, and reducing the productions costs. Thus, the assessment of the effectiveness of population employment in high-tech and science-intensive service areas is significant today, as it is a comprehensive assessment of the country’s development, its current state in high technologies and further prospects for working with them. The research purpose consists in determining the maximum, most effective value of the population employment efficiency index in high-tech and science-intensive service spheres based on cross-country cluster analysis. The sample of countries all over the world were divided into 3 clusters, taking into account the rating value of the following indices: employment in high- and medium-high-tech production sectors and science-intensive business service spheres; enterprises that conducted training to develop / improve the ICT skills of their personnel; new registered enterprises. During the research there were statistical data analysis, cluster analysis using Ward’s method and software Statgraphics, optimization method using Frontier Analyst software. As a result, the efficiency of population employment in high-tech and science-intensive business service sectors of 36 countries in 2021 was determined, and accordingly reference countries with high population employment in this research sphere were identified. The potential reserves for increasing the targeted value of the population employment index in high-tech and science-intensive sectors were also characterized. The obtained results can be useful for business managers, they can adopt the experience of doing business in countries with more effective indicators, with the aim of developing employees, providing them with new training and knowledge that will facilitate doing business in the future.

Small and new firms are deemed to be unable to obtain sufficient bank loans. This idea finds a strong theoretical support in credit rationing theory. However, this is vigorously challenged by De Meza and Webb (1987, 2000) suggesting that firms can benefit from an excess of credit, i.e. overlending. Credit rationing or overlending? The contribution of this empirical article is twofold: to our knowledge, it is the first to make an attempt in measuring the relative importance of these two types of financing imperfection and to explore factors leading to one or the other. We exploit a rich panel data set on the access to bank credit for new French businesses during the mid-1990s. Our results show that credit rationing was not highly spread among French new firms. The story told by De Meza and Webb (1987) appears to be a much more realistic model. In addition, we identify factors, linked to the starter, the project or the industry, that are closely associated with credit rationing and/or overlending. Most factors enter into a consistent relation: when they are positively (negatively) associated with credit rationing, they are negatively (positively) associated with overlending. Attention‐deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a highly inheritable condition with a rather stable prevalence over time and geography, and it is associated with a broad range of negative life outcomes. Increasing knowledge on the condition has led to a growing trend of dampening ADHD symptoms through medication. Although this development has led to many positive outcomes, the broader societal implications are still poorly understood. In particular, person‐level studies suggest that ADHD‐like behavior may possess some advantages for engaging in entrepreneurship and the initiation of new businesses, which is considered a key activity for economic development. In practical terms, the effect of a one within‐country/SAR standard deviation increase of adult ADHD medication prevalence corresponds to a decrease in new business formation of 20% of its mean in the sample.
