The main objective of this project is to investigate the viscoelastic behavior of polypropylene material. The theory of viscoelasticity is used to understand how a polypropylene material can be modeled mathematically to make a complete analysis. The time-dependent stress-strain response of the polypropylene material is investigated with the relaxation test that is carried out with the material. Then the required parameters for mathematical models such as elasticity or stiffness, k or E, along with the relaxation time, τ, is found to illustrate this behavior. The response curve from experiments is compared with the analytical study with the theory that includes the mathematical models to complete a finite element analysis on Marc. The curve that is achieved from this analysis overlapped with the one coming from the analytical study. Forced oscillation procedure is carried out in Marc to simulate the dynamic analysis test. Internal energy loss of the specimen is inspected via the hysteresis graph., Bu projenin temel amacı, bir polipropilen malzemenin viskoelastik davranışını incelemektir. Viskoelastisite teorisi, tam bir analiz yapmak için bir polipropilen malzemenin matematiksel olarak nasıl modellenebileceğini anlamak için kullanılır. ÖZETRobotik çalışmalarda cisimlerin uzaydaki konumları ve yönelimleri elealınmaktadır. Robot sistemleri, robot kolları, robotun ilişkide olduğu cisimler,kontrol sistemleri, algılayıcı sistemlerden oluşmaktadır. Konum ve yönelimözelliklerinin genel olarak ele alındığı robotik sistemlerde, bu değerleritanımlayabilmek için matematiksel modellemelerden faydalanılır. Manipülatör,eklemlerle birbirine bağlanmış, rijid uzuvların açık uçlu kinematik zinciri olarakkabul edilir. Zincirin bir ucu yere bağlı iken diğer ucu sonlandırıcıya bağlıdır.Sonuçta bu yapının hareketi, her bir uzvun diğerine göre hareketlerinin toplamındanoluşturulur. Bu hesaplamalarda rijid bir cismin uzaydaki konumunu ve yöneliminibelirtmek amacıyla dönme matrisi ve öteleme vektörü oluşturulur.Manipülatörler bulundurdukları eklem tiplerine göre genel olarak kartezyen,silindirik, küresel ve eklemli (articulated) olmak üzere, çalışma uzayları da gözönünde bulundurularak sınıflandırılırlar. Bahsi geçen bu tip manipülatörlerde uzuvlargenelde düz profillerden seçilmektedirler. Bu çalışmada genel uzuv tiplerinden farklıolarak eğri uzva sahip ve bütün eklemleri döner tip olan bir manipülatörün kinematikve dinamik denklemleri hesaplanmıştır.Eğri uzva sahip manipülatör, birbirinin aynı üç adet uzuv ve döner tipeklemlerden oluşmaktadır. Bu özellikleriyle manipülatör, eşdeğerlerinden farklıolarak modüler bir yapısal özellik kazanmaktadır. Çalışma uzayında hareketyeteneği tez çalışması boyunca ele alınan çeşitli simülasyonlarla incelenmiş,düzlemsel ve üç boyutlu hareketlerdeki yeteneği, cisimlere her noktadanyaklaşabilme özelliği, boyutlarından daha geniş bir çalışma uzayına sahip olması ileavantajları, kompleks bir ters kinematiğe sahip olmasıyla dezavantajları elealınmıştır. Manipülatörün modüler bir yapıya sahip olması vurgulanmıştır.iv ABSTRACTThe study of robotics is concerned with the position and the orientation ofobjects in three-dimensional space. Robotic systems are consist of robot arms, toolswhich it deals, control systems and recognition systems. At a crude but importantlevel, the objects in the system are described by just two attributes: their position andtheir orientation. Naturally, one topic of immediate interest is the manner in whichwe represent these quantities and manipulate them mathematically. Manipulatorsconsist of nearly rigid links, which are connected with joints that allow relativemotion of neighboring links. These joints are usually instrumented with positionsensors, which allow the relative position of neighboring links to be measured. Inorder to define the position and the orientation of a rigid body in the space arotational matrix and a transformation vector is needed to be determined.Several types of arm mechanisms can be listed as; the cartesian type, thecylindrical type, the spherical type, and the articulated type robot manipulators. Theconventional link types are generally rigid plain rods, which are used in these kindsof manipulators. In this study, the kinematic and dynamic analysis of the robot armwhich is designed with curved links and revolute joints are examined.The curved link robot arm is selected to be design with three identical curvedlinks and three revolute joints. With these properties the robot arm gained a modulardesign capability. The flexibility of the robot arm is examined with the simulationsand ability to follow the planar and the three dimensional trajectories aredemonstrated. The curved link robot arm has advantages of covering a large workspace relative to volume of robots, and having an ability to reach over and under theobjects, while having a complex inverse kinematic as a drawback. The modularity ofthe curve link robot arm is the most important property that was examined.v 116
