- Abstract
The use of health information technology is becoming ever more essential for the provision of nursing care globally, and this has resulted in the need to pay more attention to the innovative use of the technology. This book presents the proceedings of NI2024, the 16th International Congress on Nursing Informatics, held from 28 - 31 July 2024 in Manchester, England. This quadrennial international conference provides one of the most important opportunities for healthcare professionals from around the world to gather and exchange expertise in the research and practice of both basic and applied nursing informatics. The theme of NI2024 is innovation in applied nursing informatics, and the book includes all 88 of the full papers presented at the conference, as well as 24 case studies and over 100 poster summaries. Topics cover a wide range of themes, including, applied clinical informatics; education; global health; innovation and entrepreneurship; public health - population health; research and methods; and user-facing technologies. More specifically, some of the topics in focus include generative AI; informatics integration; equity, diversity and inclusion; technological innovations; patient-centered care; data analytics; the burden of documentation; mobile health; and virtual care. These themes and topics highlight the diversity and breadth of research and innovation of nursing informatics, emphasizing the integration of advanced technologies, the enhancement of education and professional development, and the ongoing effort to improve patient care and health outcomes. The book will be of interest to all those working in the field.
