With the developing computer technologies and increasing data variety, academic and commercial studies started to move from 2 dimensions to 3 dimensions and within the concept of 3D Spatial Information Technology; Many new products and methods have emerged, such as the Digital Earth, Smart City, Virtual Reality, Intelligent Transportation Systems. 3D models of cities are now produced as well as 2D maps. These models can be used in many areas from urban planning, navigation applications, modelling of ancient cities to training and simulation applications. In this context, there are a few data set such as aerial images and LiDAR data, that can be used as 3D data source for modelling purposes. Within the scope of the study, an automatic 3D city model was produced with Envi LiDAR software.

Nowadays Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are widely used in many applications for different purposes. Their benefits however are not entirely detected due to the integration capabilities of other equipment such as; digital camera, GPS, or laser scanner. The main scope of this paper is evaluating performance of cameras integrated UAV for geomatic applications by the way of Digital Terrain Model (DTM) generation in a small area. In this purpose, 7 ground control points are surveyed with RTK and 420 photographs are captured. Over 30 million georeferenced points were used in DTM generation process. Accuracy of the DTM was evaluated with 5 check points. The root mean square error is calculated as 17.1 cm for an altitude of 100 m. Besides, a LiDAR derived DTM is used as reference in order to calculate correlation. The UAV based DTM has o 94.5 % correlation with reference DTM. Outcomes of the study show that it is possible to use the UAV Photogrammetry data as map producing, surveying, and some other engineering applications with the advantages of low-cost, time conservation, and minimum field work.

Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is an important topographic product and essential demand for many applications. Traditional methods for creating DEM are very costly and time consuming because of land surveying. In time, Photogrammetry has become one of the major methods to generate DEM. Recently, airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) system has become a powerful way to produce a DEM due to advantage of collecting three-dimensional information very effectively over a large area by means of precision and time. Airborne LIDAR system collects information not only from land surface but also from every object between plane and terrain that can reflect the laser beam. So filtering out nonground points from raw point clouds is the major step of DEM generation. There are many filtering algorithm due to several factors that affect the filtering prosedures. The performanses of these filters change based on the topographic features of area.One of these algorithm is called Triangular Irregular Network (TIN). In this study the TIN algorithm is used to filter Lidar point cloud that are collected from two different sites. While one of these sites is a rural area, the other site is an urban area; therefore these sites have different topographic features. In addition, the reference DEMs are available for these sites. In order to test the performance of TIN algorithm, the Lidar point clouds are filtered and used to generate DEM for the sites. Finally, the generated DEM are compared with the reference DEM for each site. The comparison results show that the TIN filtering algorithm perform more effectively in urban area than rural area in terms of correlations with reference DEMs.

Caravansaries are sort of bigger khan that established on the busy trade roads to provide any kind of supplies but essentially all Caravansaries on Anatolia are established for caravans' accommodations which are passing through on caravan rout. After the Turks had chosen being Muslim, the land that Islam religion spread on it has expanded. As a result of this expansion it is required a safe route for trade caravans. During the ruling time of Seljuk's Empire, Caravansaries took the most advanced form. Sultans of the Seljuk's Empire were aware of importance of trade and economy. That's why they established Caravansaries near marines, between the important trade centers and on Anatolian lands which is a bridge between East and West. But these trade routes has changed at the time of Ottoman Empire. Many of the historical places in the world have been totally or partly destroyed by natural events and human activities such as earthquake, flood and fire until the present day and still going on. Documentation is essentially required for protection and restoration these historical places and photogrammetry is one of the most effective method for documentation of cultural heritages. In this study, it is aimed to get 3D models of Doger Caravansaries which is established in Afyonkarahisar for relief and advertising. Doger Caravansaries was built in 15. Century at Sultan II Murat eras but the exact date of building is not known. The structure has rectangular plan in width. The total length of it is 56.50 in meters. The Caravansaries is consisting of attached two parts. The first part has two floors. There are pointed arched niches in the two sides of the wall and there are windows (iron barred) in the middle of the each niche. The door is fillet low arched. First floor rises on four elephant foot columns and ten other small columns. Short sides are covered by two each cross squinch and the other parts with barrel vault. There is a ladder with only ten remain levels opposite the main gate. Today, it has been cancelled to reach upstairs. The underside of the satires is empty. There are two loophole windows at the both two short side. The columns that are near the long walls are bounded each other with arches and overlaid with cross squinches. The rooms in the second floor have domes. One of these rooms was arranged as prey room. The second part of Caravansaries is single storey and walls made of rubble. There are four columns inside the room and they bounded with arches. Back side of the rooms were destroyed by earth quake and restored. This restoration was not appropriate with its original plan but the good one is that the Caravansaries was saved from totally comedown. It is aimed to survey Doger Caravansaries Photogrammetricaly and generate 3D model covered by real tissues. In this study, South NTS-352 Total Station is used to constitute a closed polygon with 6 point. The coordinates of polygon points are calculated by distance and direction measurements. Levelling was carried out for determining the height of polygon points. Photographs was taken by Nikon D7000 camera. 3D model and faces were created in Photomodeler software.

Many of the cultural heritages in the world have been totally or partly destroyed by natural events and human activities such as earthquake, flood and fire until the present day. Cultural heritages are legacy for us as well; it is also a fiduciary for next generation. To deliver this fiduciary to the future generations, cultural heritages have to be protected and registered. There are different methods for applying this registry but Photogrammetry is the most accurate and rapid method. Photogrammetry enables us to registry cultural heritages and generating 3D photo-realistic models. Nowadays, 3D models are being used in various fields such as education and tourism. In registration of complex and high construction by Photogrammetry, there are some problems in data acquisition and processing. Especially for high construction's photographs, some additional equipment is required such as balloon and lifter. In recent years The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are commonly started to be used in different fields for different goals. In Photogrammetry, The UAVs are being used for particularly data acquisition. It is not always easy to capture data due to the situation of historical places and their neighbourhood. The use of UAVs for documentation of cultural heritage will make an important contribution. The main goals of this study are to survey cultural heritages by Photogrammetry and to investigate the potential of UAVs in 3D modelling. In this purpose we surveyed Gedik Ahmet Pasha Mosque photogrammetricly by UAV and will produce photorealistic 3D model. Gedik Ahmet Pasha, The Grand Vizier of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, has been in Afyonkarahisar during the campaign to Karaman between the years of 1472–1473. He wanted Architect Ayaz Agha to build a complex of Bathhouse, Mosque and a Madrasah here, Afyon, due to admiration of this city. Gedik Ahmet Pasha Mosque is in the centre of this complex. Gedik Ahmet Pasha Mosque is popularly known as Imaret Mosque among the people of Afyon. Gedik Ahmet Pasha Complex is a foundation. For this reason all its expenses are recorded. Furthermore renovations of all buildings in this complex are placed on them with a inscription. According to records and inscriptions The Imaret Mosque has been restored several times. The two significant of these restorations were made after the earthquakes in 1668 and 1792. Lastly, after the renewing lead plating of domes in 1969, the Mosque has gotten its current final situation. The dimensions of Mosque are 29.20 x 35.40 in meter and it has built by a plan of inverse capital (T). There are two domes covering the main worship and it is one of the most important examples of Ottoman architecture with three of dome both side in direction of east to west. At the north side of the Mosque, there is a place for last congregations with five domes. Minaret is at the north-east side of the mosque. It has got one balcony (surrounding the minaret) and has been structured by cut stone with a shape of fluting. It has been covered by dark blue tile between these flutings. The main gate of mosque is made of pen inlaid marble. It is aimed to survey Gedik Ahmet Pasha Mosque photogrammetricly and to model it in 3D photo-realistic. In this study, South NTS-352 Total Station is used to constitute a closed polygon with 8 point. We used 350 ground control point in the field study. It is made levelling to measure elevation of polygon points. For photographs, we used Canon A 180 camera and UAV. Photomodeler software is used to process both camera's and UAV's photographs independently. The facades of mosque are derived and all 3D models of Mosque were merged. This merged model is covered with high resolution photographs for obtaining 3D photo-realistic models of Gedik Ahmet Pasha Mosque.

The parameters of length–weight relations for Anatolian khramulya, Capoeta tinca (Heckel, 1843) from 10 inland bodies of water of the Samsun Province, Northern Turkey were presented. The b values of the length–weight relations ranged from 2.5444 to 3.3517. For nine freshwater resources in Samsun, this study is the first reference on length–weight relation of Capoeta tinca.Turkey

In this paper, the bit-search type irregular decimation algorithms, that are used within linear-feedback shift register (LFSR)-based stream ciphers, are investigated. In particular, bitsearch generator (BSG) and and its variant ABSG are concentrated on and two different setups are considered for the analysis. In the first case, the input is assumed to be an m-sequence; it is shown that all possible output sequences can be classified into two sets, each of which is characterized by the equivalence of their elements up to shifts. Furthermore, it is proved that the cardinality of each of these sets is equal to the period of one of its elements and subsequently the (upper and lower) bounds on the expected output period (assuming that no subperiods exist) are derived. In the second setup, we work in a probabilistic framework and assume that the input sequence is evenly distributed (i.e., independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) Bernoulli process with probability 1/2). Under these assumptions, closed-form expressions are derived for the distribution of the output length and the output rate, which is shown to be asymptotically Gaussian-distributed and concentrated around the mean with exponential tightness. The aim of this study was to determine water sorption, solubility and dimensional stability of injection and compression-molded polymethyl methacrylate based denture base polymer that was reinforced with various concentrations and lengths of E-glass fibers. For water sorption and solubility, 20 test groups with different fiber contents and lengths of fibers were prepared. Test specimens without fibers were used as a control. The water sorption and solubility was measured after 90 days water storage. For dimensional stability, rhombic test specimens were prepared and the dimensional changes were measured after processing, drying and storing in water for 4 days and 30 days and were compared with those on the brass model. The water sorption and solubility of injection-molded denture base polymer was lower compared to compression-molded specimens (p<0.05). The dimensional accuracy of denture base polymer was not affected with fiber reinforcement (p>0.05). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: This study aims to determine the prevalence of workplace violence against healthcare professionals and its effects on work engagement and meaningful work in healthcare settings., Design: This study is designed as an analytical cross-sectional study., Methods: This study surveyed 676 healthcare professionals in Turkiye between June and December 2022, using face-to-face and online methods. Scales measured exposure to and witnessing violence, work engagement, and meaningful work. The study has adhered to STROBE guidelines. Statistical analyses included descriptive, correlation, and linear regression., Results: According to the results, shouting and cursing by patients and their companions were determined as the most common type of violence encountered by healthcare professionals. The effect of healthcare professionals' exposure to violence from patients' companion on work engagement and witnessing to violence from colleagues on meaningful work were found to be negative and significant., Discussion: The findings emphasise the urgent need for interventions addressing workplace violence against healthcare professionals. Background: Postimplantation syndrome (PIS) is a known inflammatory response following endovascular stent placement, yet comparative data between venous and arterial stenting remains limited. This study seeks to evaluate the incidence, characteristics, and clinical implications of PIS across these two distinct vascular territories. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 191 patients who underwent either venous (n = 36) or arterial (n = 155) stent placement. Data collection encompassed demographic profiles, perioperative laboratory findings, and clinical outcomes. The primary endpoint was the incidence of PIS, defined as the presence of fever (≥38 °C), leukocytosis, and elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) within 30 days postprocedure. Secondary outcomes included length of hospital and ICU stay, incidence of endoleaks, reintervention rates, and 30-day mortality. Comparative statistical analyses were conducted to assess differences between the venous and arterial stent groups. Results: PIS was observed more frequently in arterial stent patients, as evidenced by significantly elevated postoperative white blood cell counts at 24 and 48 h ( p = 0.046 and p = 0.014, respectively), along with borderline CRP increases ( p = 0.052). Fever occurrence peaked at 72 and 96 h postprocedure, predominantly in the arterial cohort. Furthermore, patients with arterial stents had significantly longer hospital stays (5.59 ± 0.46 days vs. 3.42 ± 0.36 days; p = 0.0018) and a higher rate of 30-day endoleaks (7.1% vs. 0%; p = 0.005). Despite similar mortality and major adverse cardiac event (MACE) rates between groups, arterial stent patients exhibited a greater need for reintervention. While PIS was less common among venous stent recipients, its potential impact on postoperative recovery warrants careful monitoring. Conclusions: Arterial stenting is associated with a higher incidence of PIS and a more pronounced systemic inflammatory response, contributing to longer hospitalization and increased postoperative complications. Although venous stent patients experience PIS less frequently, its occurrence should not be overlooked, as it may influence overall recovery and clinical outcomes. Recognition and management of PIS in both venous and arterial stent patients are critical to improving patient care and optimizing procedural success.

Background: Brucellosis is the most important public health problem worldwide, and the annual incidence of the disease in humans is 2.1 million. The Brucella genome is highly conserved, with over 90% similarity among species. The aim of this study was to perform species-level identification of Brucella spp. strains isolated from humans diagnosed with brucellosis and to further investigate the phylogenetic relationships using multiple locus variable number of tandem repeats analysis (MLVA)-16 and 16S rRNA sequencing analysis. Materials and Methods: Brucella spp. was isolated from the blood cultures of 54 patients who tested positive for brucellosis through serological examinations. Real-time PCR was used to identify the isolates in species, and the genus level of Brucella was confirmed with 16S rRNA. All isolates were subjected to phylogenetic analysis using variable number of tandem repeat analysis with multiple loci. Results: Subsequent analysis via real-time PCR confirmed these isolates to be of the Brucella melitensis species. The 16S rRNA sequence analysis showed 100% homogeneity among the isolates. MLVA revealed the formation of five different genotypic groups. While two groups were formed based on the 16S rRNA sequence analysis, five groups were formed in the MLVA. Conclusions: The study concluded that 16S rRNA sequence analysis alone did not provide sufficient discrimination for phylogenetic analysis but served as a supportive method for identification. MLVA exhibited higher phylogenetic power. The widespread isolation of B. melitensis from human brucellosis cases highlights the importance of controlling brucellosis in small ruminants to prevent human infections.

In the study, the achene macromorphological and micromorphological characters of the genus Artemisia distributed in Turkey have been researched with the target of knowing systematically important carpological structures for the examined species. Macro-morphological structures of the achenes including color, shape, dimension, and carpopodium diameter were studied with 100 achenes of 10 specimens per taxa with a Light Microscope. Micro-morphological features of the achenes containing surface ornamentation, anticlinal and periclinal cell walls, epidermal cells, and the presence of secondary structures were examined with a Scanning Electron Microscope. EDS analyses were performed with a SEM. EDS analyses were carried out by selecting the same spot on the sample surface at 80 sec under 30 μm aperture size, with 20 kV acceleration voltage, 8 mm operating distance, high current, and processing time conditions. The color, shape, and dimension of achene have macro-morphologically shown variations. The examined achenes are separated into four shapes; fusiform-oblong, oblong, oblong-ovate, and ovate. Oblong-ovate is the most common type. Achene dimensions range from 0.62 to 2.48 mm in length, and from 0.30 to 1.21 mm in width. Also, carpopodium diameter varies between 0.10 and 0.19 mm. Achene surfaces of the examined taxa are micro-morphologically assessed, and substantial differences are noticeably detected on behalf of the surface structures for instance, surface ornamentation, anticlinal and periclinal cell walls, epidermal cells, and the presence of secondary structures of the achenes. Surface ornamentation is separated into 10 types: irregularly sulcate, regularly sulcate, ruminate, sulcate-scalariform, rugose, favulariate, slightly sulcate, alveolate, tuberculate, and reticulate. A percentage comparison of the elements in the achene pericarp of the studied taxa has been performed with SEM-EDS. Accordingly, pericarps in taxa include C, Ca, K, Mg, Cl, Si, Na, and S elements. In the taxonomy of the genus Artemisia, the achene morphological characters are very significant characteristics that disclose inter-specific relations among the examined taxa. Moreover, a dichotomous key is offered for the identification of the studied taxa based on achene characters. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS: The achenes of Turkish Artemisia taxa have been examined in depth. The morphological characteristics of achenes of Turkish Artemisia taxa have been studied using SEM and LM for the first time and debated the systematic practice of these characters. Introduction: Liquid-based cytology (LBC) has replaced conventional smear (CS) in the world. In this study, through a series with a large number of cases, we aimed to make a comparison and general evaluation in all groups, primarily epithelial abnormalities, according to LBC and CS methods. This study was carried out in a private pathology laboratory located in a metropolitan city, where cytological materials sent from many clinics were examined., Material and Methods: There were 165,915 cases whose smears were examined between 2012 and 2020, most of them conventional (131,224 CS, 34,691 LBC). Cases were evaluated on the basis of the Bethesda 2014 classification and divided into sub-diagnostic categories after they were divided into two main groups as "with epithelial abnormalities" and "without." χ2 and Fischer's precision statistical tests were conducted using SPSS 23.0 package. In the CS process, cervical samples were obtained using an endocervical brush and a spatula. Cells were directly spread onto the slides and promptly fixed in 95% ethanol, followed by staining with the standard Papanicolaou stain. For LBC ThinPrep, cervical specimens were gathered using a cervix brush. The brush was washed in a vial and discarded. Finally, cells were isolated through vacuum filtration and transferred to the slide using air pressure., Results: Squamous cell abnormalities (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance [ASC-US], atypical squamous cells - cannot exclude high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion [ASC-H], low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion [LSIL], high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion [HSIL], squamous cell carcinoma, atypical glandular cells of undetermined significance) were reported in 5,696 (3.43%) cases. ASC (ASC-US + ASC-H)/SIL ratio (1.36/2.04) was found to be 0.67 (recommended Bethesda ratio is &lt;3). ASC-US (p &lt; 0.001), ASC-H (p &lt; 0.001), and HSIL(p &lt; 0.001) detection rate of LBC was found to be significantly higher than CS. ASC-US (1.8/1.2), ASC-H (0.08/0.008), and HSIL (0.6/0.3) case ratios of LBC/CS were found to be significantly higher in LBC. LSIL (1.72/1.66) rate was similar., Conclusion: LBC is superior to CS in detecting epithelial lesions. In addition to being used as a screening method, it is clear that it makes a great contribution to reducing cervical carcinomas due to HPV typing. Definitive comments regarding comparison of methods on reactive changes and microorganism detection are challenging. Preanalytical factors might account for these situations., (© 2024 S. Many treatment initiatives, like herbal products and their active ingredients, aim to alleviate neurodegeneration to increase cognitive functions. Kaempferol may be a candidate molecule for treating neurodegeneration because of its antioxidant effects. In the present study, we examined the molecular changes associated with kaempferol's memory‑enhancing effects on streptozotocin (STZ)‑induced neurodegeneration. After intracerebroventricular STZ injection in Long‑Evans male rats, intraperitoneal kaempferol was administered for 12 days. The Morris water maze (MWM) was used to measure learning and memory performance in the rats, and proteins related to memory formation were investigated in the hippocampi with western blotting. Kaempferol improved learning performance and memory decline in STZ‑treated rats. At the molecular level, STZ‑induced neurodegeneration resulted in a decrease in the expression of GAD67, reelin, and phosphorylated‑NMDAR. However, kaempferol treatment ameliorated these changes by enhancing their levels similar to the controls. While neither STZ injection nor kaempferol treatment produced any significant change in phosphorylated‑CAMKII levels, they increased the expression of klotho and prealbumin. These results show that kaempferol has positive effects on memory loss, affecting synaptic plasticity by ameliorating both the levels and activity of memory‑relevant molecules through reelin signaling. In summary, this study provides a guide to future studies by examining in detail the healing effect of kaempferol as a candidate molecule in the treatment of neurodegeneration, such as that observed in Alzheimer's disease.

Background: In this study, we aimed to compare the oxidative stress parameters, thiol-disulfide homeostasis, and plasma pro-inflammatory cytokines levels of patients with bipolar disorder (BD), BD patients' first-degree relatives (FDRs), and the healthy controls (HCs)., Methods: Thirty-five patients with BD, 35 FDRs of BD, and 35 healthy controls (HCs) were included. The individuals' ages varied from 28 to 58, and the groups were well-matched in terms of age and gender. The total thiol (TT), native thiol (NT), disulfide (DIS), total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α concentrations were measured from serum samples. The oxidative stress index (OSI) was calculated using mathematical formulas., Results: TOS was significantly higher in both patients and FDRs than HCs (p < 0.01 for all pairwise comparisons). OSI, DIS, oxidized thiol, and the ratio of thiol oxidation-reduction levels were significantly higher in both patients with BD and FDRs than HCs (p < 0.01 for all pairwise comparisons). TAS, TT, NT, and reduced thiol levels were significantly lower in both patients with BD and FDRs than HCs (p < 0.01 for all pairwise comparisons). IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α were significantly higher in both patients and FDRs than HCs (p < 0.01 for all pairwise comparisons)., Limitations: Small sample size., Conclusions: Early diagnosis is important for treating of bipolar disorder. TT, NT, DIS, TOS, TAS, OSI, IL1-β, IL-6, and TNF-α can be used as potential biomarkers in the early diagnosis and intervention of BD. Otoliths are calcareous anatomical structures in the inner ear of fishes, and they can be used in the discrimination of fish species and stocks due to their species-specific shape. Sagittal otoliths in the Lepidorhombus whiffiagonis and Lepidorhombus boscii, two flatfish species of the same genus distributed in the Aegean Sea, were compared using morphology, morphometry and contour shape analyses. Blind and eyed side otoliths of Lepidorhombus species were evaluated separately due to their morphological features and statistical differences in morphometric measurements (p < 0.05). Four analysis groups were formed: blind side otolith of L. whiffiagonis, eyed side otolith of L. whiffiagonis, blind side otolith of L. boscii and eyed side otolith of L. boscii. Morphometric differences in otolith shape were performed by canonical discriminant analysis, and the first discriminant axis explained 97.4% (Wilks λ = 0.270) of the variance between the groups, and the second axis explained 2.3% (Wilks λ = 0.620). Classification success between Lepidorhombus species based on CDA is 100%, and the overall CDA classification score between groups is 76.5%. The wavelet functions obtained in the contour analysis showed high variability in the anterior, posterior-dorsal, antero-dorsal and ventral regions of the otoliths among these four analysis groups. Consequently, it is thought that this study will contribute to the taxonomic classification of fish with the morphological and morphometric differences in the blind and eyed side otoliths and the analyses made with the high discrimination success obtained in Lepidorhombus species., (© 2022 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

Monocyte to HDL cholesterol ratio (MHR), lymphocyte to monocyte ratio (LMR), and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) have been proposed as novel systemic inflammatory markers. The aim of this study was to explore the association between MHR, LMR and NLR with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The study is a single-center, retrospective Cross-sectional study. The study group consisted of 73 patients with PAH and the control group 77 participants without cardiac pathology as determined by echocardiography. On admission, blood sampling to calculate MHR, LMR, NLR, and detailed clinical data were obtained. According to the Pearson test, systolic pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) value Higher MHR, NLR and lower LMR that indicates an enhanced inflammation were significantly increased in patients with PAH when compared with controls. Compared to many other inflammatory markers, these markers are widely available. positively correlated with the MHR and NLR (r:.35, P < .001 and r:.33, P < .001, respectively), but negatively correlated with LMR (r: -.26, P = .001). Objective: Cardiac syndrome X (CSX) is typically described with ischemia in stress tests in addition to angina-like chest pain and without stenosis in coronary angiography. We aimed at determining the relationship between LMR and CSX., Patients and Methods: We retrospectively collected patients with CSX between January 2016 and December 2019. Patients with typical angina-like chest pain, normal 12-lead electrocardiography at rest, a positive response to the exercise test (> 0.1 mV ST-segment depression at 80 ms after the J point in two or more contiguous leads) or ischemia on myocardial perfusion scintigraphy and normal coronary angiography were included in the study as CSX patients., Results: This study consisted of 116 patients with CSX and 153 control groups. The mean age of the patients with CSX was 52.7±9.7 years, and the mean age of the control group was 53.7±10.6 years (p= 0.416). The patients with CSX were more likely to have higher monocyte counts and LMR. According to the Pearson correlation test, the CRP value negatively correlated with the LMR. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, LMR remained a significant predictor of CSX. In ROC analysis, LMR < 4.1 had 64% sensitivity and 50% specificity (ROC area under curve: 0.587, 95% CI: 0.519-0.655, p=0.015) in accurately predicting a CSX diagnosis., Conclusions: We showed that lower LMR levels were associated with the presence of CSX.

Background: The incidence of postoperative complications following cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) procedures in patients treated with antithrombotic drugs has not been studied sufficiently. Here we present a comparison of complications after CIED implantations., Methods: Using an observational study design, the study included 1807 patients with a taking antiplatelet drugs (n: 1601), nonvitamin K anticoagulants (NOAC) (n: 136), and warfarin (n: 70) undergoing CIED surgery. Primary endpoint was accepted as cumulative events including composite of clinically significant hematoma (CSH), pericardial effusion or tamponade, pneumothorax, and infection related to device system. Secondary outcomes included each compenent of cumulative events. Multivariable analysis was performed to identify predictors of cumulative events., Results: The overall cumulative event rate was 3.7% (67 of 1807). Cumulative events occured 3.1% (50 of 1601) in the antiplatelet, 5.1% (7 of 136) NOAC, and 14.3% (10 of 70) warfarin groups (p < 0.001). CSH occurred in 2 of 70 patients (2.9%) in the warfarin group, as compared with 5 of 1601 (0.3%) in the antiplatelet group (p: 0.032). However, no significant differences were found between NOAC and warfarin groups in terms of CSH (0.7% vs. 2.9% respectively, p: 0.267). Warfarin treatment was an independent predictor of cumulative events and increased 2.9-fold the risk of cumulative events. Major surgical complications were rare and did not differ significantly between the study groups., Conclusions: The incidence and severity of complications may be lower in patients treated with periprocedurally antiplatelet or NOAC therapy when compared with warfarin therapy. Carbon quantum dots (CDs) have recently received a tremendous amount of interest owing to their attractive optical properties. However, CDs have broad absorption and emission spectra limiting their application ranges. We herein, for the first time, show synthesis of water-soluble red emissive CDs with a very narrow line width (∼75 meV) spectral absorbance and hence demonstrate strong coupling of CDs and plasmon polaritons in liquid crystalline mesophases. The excited state dynamics of CDs has been studied by ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy, and CDs display very stable and strong photoluminescence emission with a quantum yield of 35.4% and a lifetime of ∼2 ns. More importantly, we compare J -aggregate dyes with CDs in terms of their absorption line width, photostability, and ability to do strong coupling, and we conclude that highly fluorescent CDs have a bright future in the mixed light-matter states for emerging applications in future quantum technologies.
