1. A study was made of the reaction of N-methylolphthalimide and N-methylolbenzamide with diethyl diethylaminophosphite, ethyl bis(diethylamido)phosphite, and tris(diethylamido)phosphite. 2. The methylolimides of dibasic acids react with the ester-amides of phosphorous acid only at the nitrogen atom, while the methylolamides of monobasic acids react at both the nitrogen and the phosphorus atoms.

The intramolecular isomerization of the 4-chlorobutyl esters of alkylene glycol phosphorous acids goes predominantly with opening of the alkylene glycol ring, independent of its size, to give 2-oxo-2-chloroalkoxy-1,2-oxaphosphorinanes. The 4-chlorobutyl ester of 2,3-butylene glycol phosphorus acid is an exception, the isomerization of which proceeds predominantly with retention of the alkylene glycol ring.

The direction of the thermal isomerization of some 1-alkyl-2-(3-chloroalkoxy)-1,3,2-azaoxaphospholanes depends on the structure of the starting azaoxaphospholane and the reaction temperature.

The corresponding hydroxyaminosulfolanes were isolated from the reaction of 3,4-epoxysulfolane and 3-methyl-3,4-epoxysulfolane with ammonia and amines. The mechanism of the reaction was studied by thermography. The reaction proceeds through the intermediate formation of the corresponding unsaturated alcohols and subsequent addition of the nucleophile to the double bond. The reaction of 3,4-dimethyl-3,4-epoxysulfolane with the same reagents terminates with isomerization of the oxide.

The previously expressed theory that the tricyclic triethyl triphosphite of D-mannitol is 2-ethoxy-4, 5-bis-(2′-ethoxy-1′, 3′, 2′-dioxaphospholan-4′-yl)-l,3,2-dioxa-4-phospholane was corroborated on the basis of the differential-thermal analysis and31P NMR data.

The reactions of methyl-, ethyl-, and phenyldichlorophosphine with cis-β-chloroacrylic acid lead to the formation of the acid chlorides of methyl-, ethyl-, and phenyl-(β-chloroformylvinyl)phosphinic acid. 2. With trans-β-chloroacrylic acid the reaction proceeds with the formation of the acid chloride of trans-β-chloroacrylic acid.

A number of 3-bromoalkyl esters of alkylene glycoi phosphorous acids was obtained. The isomerization temperature of the obtained esters is lower than for the corresponding chloroalkyl analogs.

N-Acetyl-N-trimethylsilylamidophosphites when heated undergo decomposition to give the corresponding silyl phosphites, which decomposition is facilitated by adding electron-acceptor substituents to the phosphorus atom.

1. After treatment with alcohol, bis(chloromethyl)-β-carbethoxyalkylphosphine oxides were obtained by the reaction of bis(chloromethyl)chlorophosphine withα,β-unsaturated acids. 2. The reaction of bis(chloromethyl)chlorophosphine with the amides ofα,β-unsaturated acids leads to bis(chloromethyl)-β-cyanoalkylphosphine oxides, while in the presence of acetic acid it leads to bis(chloromethyl)-β-acetocarbamoylalkylphosphine oxides.

The reaction of (acetoxymethyl)diethylamine with mono-, bis-, and tris (diethylamido)phosphites proceeds through the intermediate formation of compounds of the quasiphosphonium type, as shown by P31-NMR and thermography.
