1. Relationship of Musculoskeletal Symptoms and Musical Practice Intensity among Musicians During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Descriptive Questionnaire Study

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: As soon as COVID-19 spread around the world, prevention and control measures were taken, such as masking and physical distancing, which changed people’s routines, including musical practice among professional and amateur musicians. OBJECTIVE: This descriptive questionnaire study was designed to: 1) investigate how the pandemic affected musical practice among musicians; 2) determine how musicians remained motivated in their new routine; 3) identify the presence of pre-COVID musculoskeletal symptoms; and 4) analyze whether musculoskeletal symptoms decreased, maintained, or increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: A total of 89 musicians from Brazil participated in an online survey, from August 2020 to January 2021. The survey form included questions about motivation, musical practice frequency, and the presence and characterization of musculoskeletal symptoms (adapted from the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire, NMQ). Abstract: In this paper we present results on transverse mass spectra and Hanbury-Brown and Twiss correlation functions of negatively charged hadrons, which are expected to be mostly negative pions, measured in Pb-Pb collisions at 40 A GeV/c beam momentum. Based on these data, the collision dynamics and the space-time extent of the system at the thermal freeze-out are studied over a centrality range corresponding to the most central 53% of the Pb--Pb inelastic cross section. Comparisons with freeze-out conditions of strange particles and HBT results from other experiments are discussed., 29 pages, 18 figures

Abstract: Results are presented on hyperon and antihyperon production in Pb-Pb, pPb and pBe collisions at 158 GeV/c per nucleon. Lambda, Xi and Omega yields have been measured at central rapidity and medium transverse momentum as functions of the centrality of the collision. Comparing the yields in Pb-Pb to those in pBe interactions, strangeness enhancement is observed. The enhancement increases with the centrality and with the strangeness content of the hyperons, reaching a factor of about 20 for the Omega in the central Pb-Pb collisions., submitted to J. Phys. Abstract: We present central-to-peripheral nuclear modification factors, R CP , for the p T distributions of K S 0 , Λ, Λ ¯ , and negatively charged particles, measured at central rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at top SPS energy. The data cover the 55% most central fraction of the inelastic cross section. The K S 0 and Λ R CP ( p T ) are similar in shape to those measured at s NN = 200 GeV at RHIC, though they are larger in absolute value. We have compared our K S 0 R CP data to a theoretical calculation. The prediction overestimates the data at p T ≈ 3 – 4 GeV / c , unless sizeable parton energy loss is included in the calculation.

Abstract: A measurement of strange baryon and antibaryon production in Pb-Pb collisions has been carried out by the NA57 experiment at the CERN SPS, with 40 and 158 A GeV/c beam momentum. Results on $\Lambda$, $\Xi$ and $\Omega$ hyperon yields at mid-rapidity in the most central 53% of Pb-Pb collisions at 40 A GeV/c are presented and compared with those obtained at higher energy, in the same collision centrality range. The $\Lambda$ and $\Xi^-$ yields per unit rapidity stay roughly constant while those of $\Omega^-$, $\bar\Lambda$, $\bar\Xi^+$ and $\bar\Omega^+$ increase when going to the higher SPS energy. Abstract: The ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC collider is devoted to the study of heavy-ion collisions at a centre of mass energy of 5.5 TeV per nucleon. The study of open charm production in nucleus–nucleus collisions at the LHC allows investigation of the mechanisms of heavy quark production and energy loss in the hot and dense medium formed in the early stage of the collision. In addition, the open charm production cross section is the natural normalization for the study of J/ψ production. The reconstruction of exclusive hadronic decays of charm particles is the only way to obtain a direct measurement of their transverse momentum distribution. We present the results of a feasibility study for the detection of D0 → K−π+ decays in Pb–Pb collisions with ALICE.

Abstract: Two-particle correlation functions of negatively charged hadrons from Pb-Pb collisions at 158?GeV?c-1/nucleon have been measured by the WA97 experiment at the CERN SPS. A Coulomb correction procedure that assumes an expanding source has been implemented. Within the framework of an expanding thermalized source model the size and dynamical state of the collision fireball at freeze-out have been reconstructed as a function of the centrality of the collision. Less central collisions exhibit a different dynamics than central ones: both transverse and longitudinal expansion velocities are slower, the expansion duration is shorter and the system freezes out, showing smaller dimensions and higher temperature.

Abstract: The experiment WA97 is dedicated to the study of strange baryon production in Pb-Pb interactions at SPS energy. Results on the production of strange and multistrange baryons at midrapidity in Pb-Pb at 158 A GeV c-1 are reported and compared with those from p-Pb and p-Be reactions at the same energy. The evidence for deconfinement emerging from the observed pattern of strange baryon production is discussed.

Abstract: A study of the strangeness enhancement in Lead-Lead collisions with respect to proton-induced reactions is being carried out at the CERN SPS by the WA97 experiment: up to now, data from proton-Lead collisions have been used as a reference sample. In this paper we report on a study of particle production in proton-Beryllium collisions. These collisions are expected to constitute a better reference sample than p-Pb, because of the lighter target. The analysis of hyperon and negative particle production is presented and the results are compared with those previously obtained from Pb-Pb and p-Pb collisions.

Abstract: The WA97 experiment has measured the transverse mass $({m_{\mathrm T}})$ spectra for negative hadrons ($\mathrm{h}^-$) and strange particles produced at mid–rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions. The increased statistics of analysed data samples allowed us to perform a study of the spectra of ${\rm K_S^0}$, $\mathrm{\Lambda}$, $\mathrm{\Xi}$, $\mathrm{\Omega}$ and $\mathrm{h}^-$ as a function of the collision centrality. The data, which correspond to the most central 40% of the total inelastic cross section, have been divided into four centrality classes according to the estimated number of nucleons taking part in the collision. The $m_{\mathrm T}$ spectra, analysed separately for each centrality bin, exhibit only weak ($\leq$ 15%) centrality dependence. The deviation of the $\mathrm{\Omega}$ inverse slope from the linear dependence on the particle mass is confirmed even for the most central Pb–Pb collisions.

Abstract: A, Ξ and Ω yields and transverse mass spectra have been measured in Pb-Pb and p-Pb collisions at 158A GeV/c. The yields in Pb-Pb interactions are presented as a function of the collision centrality and compared with those obtained from p-Pb collisions. Strangeness enhancement is observed which increases with centrality and with the strangeness content of the hyperon.

Abstract: Enhanced production of strange baryons and anti-baryons at central rapidity in S-W and S-z.sbnd;S with respect to p-A reactions has been reported by the CERN experiments WA85 and WA94. The WA97 experiment is extending such a study to Pb Pb collisions making use of the newly developed silicon pixel detectors. Results on Λ, Ξ − and Ω − production in Pb Pb collisions at 158 A GeV/ c at central rapidity are presented. Transverse mass spectra and particle ratios are presented. Hyperon yields are given as a function of the collision centrality and compared with those obtained from p-Pb collisions using the same experimental setup.

Abstract: Preliminary results from WA97 measurements on Λ, Ξ and Ω production in lead-lead and proton-lead collisions are presented, along with a comparison of WA97 proton-lead data with previous WA85 proton-tungsten results. The ratio Ω/Ξ seems to be enhanced in lead initiated reactions compared to proton initiated reactions.

The centrality range of the NA57 experiment extended down to a limit of about 50 wounded nucleons. The experiment collected data using 158 and 40 A GeV/c beams at the CERN SPS. There was indication of an increase of the enhancements with the centrality of the collisions. The data were corrected for acceptance and efficiency losses by calculating weight for each particle with a GEANT-based Monte-Carlo simulation.

Abstract: The transverse mass spectra of K0s, Lambda, Xi and Omega particles produced in Pb-Pb collisions at 40 A GeV/c have been studied for a sample of events corresponding to the most central 53% of the inelastic Pb-Pb cross-section. We analyze the distributions in the framework of a parameterized model inspired by hydrodynamics. Abstract: The multiplicity of charged particles in the central rapidity region has been measured by the NA57 experiment in Pb--Pb collisions at the CERN SPS at two beam momenta: 158 A GeV/{\it c} and 40 A GeV/{\it c}. The value of $dN_{ch}/d\eta$ at the maximum has been determined and its behaviour as a function of centrality has been studied in the centrality range covered by NA57 (about 50% of the inelastic cross section). Abstract: We present central-to-peripheral nuclear modification factors, R-CP, for the (PT) distributions of K-S(0), Lambda, Lambda, and negatively charged particles, measured at central rapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at top SPS energy. The data cover the 55% most central fraction of the inelastic cross section. The K-S(0) and Lambda R-CP((PT)) are similar in shape to those measured at root sNN = 200 GeV at RHIC, though they are larger in absolute value. We have compared our K-S(0) R-CP data to a theoretical calculation. The prediction overestimates the data at (PT) approximate to 3-4 GeV/c, unless sizeable parton energy loss is included in the calculation. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract: The NA57 experiment has measured strange baryon and antibaryon production in Pb-Pb collisions at 40 A GeV/c and 160 A GeV/c beam momenta. This presentation covers strangeness enhancement and transverse spectra from the 160 A GeV/c data, and energy dependence of the particle yields. Enhancement factors increase with increasing strangeness content of the particle, when production yields from Pb-Pb collisions are compared with those observed in p-Be and p-Pb interactions. The transverse mass spectra have been analysed both with exponential fits and using a transverse flow model.

Abstract: The NA57 experiment has been designed to study the onset of the strange baryon and antibaryon enhancements in Pb Pb with respect to p-Be collisions, first observed by WA97 at 160 A GeV/ c . NA57 has extended the WA97 measurements to investigate the evolution of strangeness enhancement over a wider centrality range and as a function of the beam energy. Results on hyperon production in central Pb Pb collisions at 40 A GeV/ c are presented and compared with those obtained at higher energy, in the same centrality range.

31. Association of single nucleotide polymorphisms with renal cell carcinoma in Algerian population

Abstract: Abstract Background Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a common malignant tumor of the urinary system. The etiology of RCC is a complex interaction between environmental and multigenetic factors. Genome-wide association studies have identified new susceptibility risk loci for RCC. We examined associations of genetic variants of genes that are involved in metabolism, DNA repair and oncogenes with renal cancer risk. A total of 14 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 11 genes (VEGF, VHL, ATM, FAF1, LRRIQ4, RHOBTB2, OBFC1, DPF3, ALDH9A1 and EPAS1) were examined. Methods The current case–control study included 87 RCC patients and 114 controls matched for age, gender and ethnic origin. The 14 tag-SNPs were genotyped by Sequenom MassARRAY® iPLEX using blood genomic DNA. Results Genotype CG and allele G of ATM rs1800057 were significantly associated with RCC susceptibility (p = 0.043; OR = 8.47; CI = 1.00–71.76). Meanwhile, we found that genotype AA of rs67311347 polymorphism could increase the risk of RCC (p = 0.03; OR = 2.95; IC = 1.10–7.89). While, genotype TT and T allele of ALDH9A1 rs3845536 were observed to approach significance for a protective role against RCC (p = 0.007; OR = 0.26; CI = 0.09–0.70). Conclusion Our results indicate that ATM rs1800057 may have an effect on the risk of RCC, and suggest that ALDH9A1 was a protective factor against RCC in Algerian population.

Abstract: PoS(hep2001)248; New data on strange baryon yields in Pb–Pb interactions at 158 GeV/c per nucleon are presented as a function of the collision centrality. The possible onset of a deconfined phase when the collision involves from 50 to 100 wounded nucleons is discussed.

Abstract: NA57 has been specifically designed to study the onset of strange baryon and antibaryon enhancements in Pb-Pb with respect to p-Be collisions, first observed by the WA97 experiment at 160 A GeV/c beam momentum. The aim is to look for the dependence of these enhancements on the interaction volume, as measured by the number of wounded nucleons, and the energy per incoming nucleon. In NA57 the centrality range goes down to a lower limit of about 50 wounded nucleons, compared with about 100 in WA97. Data have been collected both at 160 and at 40 A GeV/c, while WA97 collected data only at the top SPS beam momentum of 160 A GeV/c. In this contribution we recall the main features of the NA57 experiment and we present the first results on Ⅺ− and Ⅺ+ hyperon production in Pb-Pb collisions at 160 A GeV/c.

Abstract: A new pixel readout prototype has been developed at CERN for high-energy physics applications. This full mixed mode circuit has been implemented in a commercial 0.5 μm CMOS technology. Its radiation tolerance has been enhanced by designing all NMOS transistors in enclosed geometry and introducing guardrings wherever necessary. The technique is explained and its effectiveness demonstrated on various irradiation measurements on individual transistors and on the prototype. Circuit performance started to degrade only after a total dose of 600 krad–1.7 Mrad depending on the type of radiation. 10 keV X-rays, 60 Co gamma-rays, 6.5 MeV protons, and minimum ionizing particles were used. Implications of this layout approach on the circuit design and perspectives for even deeper submicron technologies are discussed.

Abstract: A simulation study of a silicon pixel multiplicity detector proposed for the NA57 experiment at CERN SPS has been carried out to evaluate its capability to measure both the total multiplicity and the net baryon content created in Pb+Pb collisions at 40 and 160 GeV/ c per nucleon in order to get information on the specific entropy produced in the reaction. A method of charge assignment is proposed and discussed in detail and the results of the simulation are presented. A benchmark of the method using computer-generated events is also performed.

Abstract: $K^{0}_{s}$, $\Lambda$, $\Xi$, $\Omega$ and negative particle yields and transverse mass spectra have been measured at central rapidity in Pb-Pb and p-Pb collisions at 158 $A$ GeV/$c$. The yields in Pb-Pb interactions % are presented as a function of the collision centrality and compared with those obtained from p-Pb collisions. Strangeness enhancement in Pb-Pb relative to p-Pb collisions increases with the strangeness content of the particle. Going from p-Pb to Pb-Pb, the strange particle yields increase faster than linearly with the number of participants $N_{part}$ up to $N_{part} \approx 100$, thereafter the increase becomes %linear with $N_{part}$. Yields are studied as a function of the number of nucleons participating in the collision $N_{part}$, which is estimated with the Glauber model. From p-Pb to Pb-Pb collisions the particle yields per participant increase substantially. The enhancement is more pronounced for multistrange particles, and exceeds an order of magnitude for the $\Omega$. For a number of participants, $N_{part}$, greater than $100$, however, all yields per participant appear to be constant.

Abstract: The series of experiments (WA85, WA94 and WA97) at the Omega spectrometer at CERN SPS have systematically studied the production of different strange particles. Strangeness enhancements at central rapidities have been reported by WA85 and WA94 in S-W and SS with respect to p-A collisions. For the investigation of PbPb interactions in the WA97 experiment a new detector suitable for high particle densities, the Pixel Tracking Chamber, has been developed based on silicon pixel detectors. The results on production ratios and cross sections of Λ, Λ , Ξ − , Ξ + , Ω − and Ω + detected by this experiment are presented. A significant enhancement of the Ω over Ξ ratio is observed when comparing p-Pb to PbPb data (a factor of about 3).

Abstract: Preliminary results from WA97 measurements on Λ, Ξ and Ω production in lead-lead and proton-lead collisions are presented, along with a comparison of WA97 proton-lead data with previous WA85 proton-tungsten results. The ratio Ω gX seems to be enhanced in lead initiated reactions compared to proton initiated reactions.

Abstract: WA97 is designed to study strange and multi-strange baryon and anti-baryon production in 160 A GeV c PbPb collisions at the SPS with a telescope of silicon microdetectors. Four planes of silicon pixel detectors were successfully employed during the 1994 Pb run. A total of 60M central PbPb events were collected. We describe the experimental setup and report on some preliminary results from the off-line analysis.

Abstract: The Asturian Basin is located on the coastline of the North Iberian Margin. This basin is dissected by long-lived E-, NE- and NW-striking faults that delineate a series of extensional fault blocks that became shortened during the Upper Cretaceous to Cenozoic Alpine convergence. In the Conejera cove, the NE-striking and SE-dipping Conejera Fault displays a remarkable example of contractional deformation, promoted by the mechanical contrast within the Lower to Middle Jurassic stratigraphic series. Field observations and structural analysis carried out in this study reveal: i) a first system of orthogonal cross-joints oblique to the Conejera Fault and other major onshore boundary faults, ii) a second system of meso-extensional faults parallel to the Conejera Fault, and developed by the reactivation and linkage of the orthogonal cross-joints and iii) a series of contractional folds, thrusts and pressure solution with a predominant NE to ENE trend. Observed relationships and structural analysis suggest an obliquity between the here inferred direction of the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous stretching (i.e. about N015E) and the onshore boundary faults, whereas the contractional structures are broadly parallel to the NE-striking Conejera Fault and suggest a roughly SSE- to SE-oriented Alpine convergence.

Abstract: The interpretation of the available seismic lines of the South-Central-Pyrenean fold and thrust belt, conveniently tied with the exploration wells, define the main structural features of this realm of the Pyrenees. In particular, they define the geometry and areal extension of the autochthonous foreland underneath the sole thrust. The mapping of several selected structural lines brings constraints for the structural interpretation of the South-Central Pyrenees, including the cut-off lines between selected stratigraphic horizons of the autochthonous foreland and the branch line between basement-involved thrust sheets and the sole thrust. The thrust salient which characterizes at surface the geometry of the South-Pyrenean fold and thrust belt contrasts with the linear trend of these structural lines at subsurface. This salient has been the result of a secondary progressive curvature developed since Middle Eocene times by thrust displacement gradients during verthrusting of the South-Pyrenean thrust sheets above a Paleogene autochthonous sequence. Displacement gradients resulted from the uneven distribution of weak salt layers, mostly the Triassic and the Upper Eocene ones. The minimum amount of South-directed displacement from early Middle Eocene times to Late Oligocene is 52km, which would be significantly higher if internal shortening by folding and cleavage/fracture development as well as hanging-wall erosion is added.
