The investigations of tungsten transport in T-10 plasma are presented in the current paper. The process of tungsten accumulation in OH discharges and its dependence on parameters ne, Ip, and Zeff are discussed. Peaked tungsten density profiles nW(r) are observed in plasmas with Zeff ≈ 1–1.5. In plasmas with Zeff ≈ 3–4, W accumulation is mainly integral with no profile peaking with regard to electron density ne(r). Lower densities of W are observed in discharges with a lithized T-10 vacuum vessel in comparison with plasma contaminated with light impurities. The disposal of W accumulation is produced by auxiliary ECRH input. During the central ECRH, the tungsten density profile flattens with the central density drop off by ~10 times together with W source increase up to 4 times.

Recent experiments have been performed on the Tokamak a configuration variable (TCV) to investigate the confinement properties of high density plasmas and the mechanism behind the density limit. In a limiter configuration with plasma elongation kappa = 1.3-1.4 and triangularity delta = 0.2-0.3 the operational density range has been extended up to 0.65 of the Greenwald density at I-p = 200 kA (q(95) = 3.7) and even to the Greenwald value at low plasma current I-p = 110 kA (q(95) = 7). A transition from the linear to the saturated ohmic confinement regime is observed at high density similar to 0.4n(GW). A further density increase leads to sawtooth stabilization and is accompanied by a decrease of the energy and particle confinement times. The development of the disruption at the density limit was preceded by sawtooth stabilization. It is shown that electron cyclotron heating leads to the prevention of sawtooth stabilization and then to the increase of the density limit value.

The brief retrospective analysis of morbidity, epizootological data and preventive measures with respect to haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) during the whole period of its registration on the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan along with the structure of HFRS morbidity during epidemic seasons of 1998 and 1999 is presented. The main causes of decreased HFRS morbidity in 1998, its rise in 1999 as well as prognosis for the year 2000 were detected. The level of HFRS morbidity among the population was found to be directly related to the number of rodents and their infection rate. The basic strategy of epidemic control interventions has been proposed.

The physicochemical and process properties of oversanded argillaceous raw materials and technogenic wastes from production of propylene were investigated. The process parameters of production of construction ceramics based on them are reported.

The epidemic manifestation of the most active natural foci of HFRS in the USSR on the territory of Bashkiria is described. The authors compare two epidemic seasons of 1975-1976 and 1977-1978. Besides the number of rodents, the rise of morbidity is influenced by their early multiplication and weather conditions. The early appearance of the stable snow cover facilitates a rapid drop in the number of NFRS cases as early as in October, while prolonged autumn with rains, snow, periods of thaw and ice-covered ground leads to a rise in NFRS morbidity occurring in autumn and winter and ending only in March. Weather conditions also influence the epidemiological structure of morbidity.

the melting period is equivalent to an increase in the consumption of pig iron per heat. This makes it possible to reduce pig consumption without lowering the productivity of open-hearth furnaces or to increase furnace productivity without increasing pig consumption. Under the conditions prevailing in the shop at the Ii'ich Zhdanov combine, the placement of 10-25% of the fresh lime below the main sills and 75-90% above the sills makes it possible to reduce pig-iron consumption by 32 kg/ton, reduce comparison-fuel consumption by 8.7 kg/ton, decrease the consumption of slag-forming, fettling, and refractory materials by 29 kg/ton, and lower the production cost of the steel by 2.61 rubles/ton.
