At present, in relation to technological progress the use of microscopes extends to scope of the aggregate microtexture detection methods; thus not only digital high-quality views, but also three-dimensional high-quality digital images of the aggregate particles can be gained. In this paper the stereomicroscope method is shown. A particle of aggregate can be captured using a stereomicroscope and using the appropriate software to obtain a 3-D image of investigated aggregate. New software MicroSYS was developed to determine a volumetric parameter for evaluation of surface microtexture of aggregate particle. The described method was used for the comparison of particle of aggregates with and without asphalt in order to obtain the value of microtexture change by coating of the aggregate by asphalt. It was also investigated the impact of asphalt content on microtexture modification caused by coating the aggregates in asphalt. The results of this method have shown a variability of values among scanned aggregate particles with and without asphalt. The conclusion describes a possible impact of microtexture change depending on the amount of asphalt used to coat the aggregate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents the 3D survey of the open-pit mine in order to develop a 3D digital model for identification and quantification of the limestone deposits. The main principle of 3D laser scanning are explained and presented. The computer GIS techniques for data processing and creation of 3D digital model are presented and quantification 3D analysis tool are used to classify deposits in the area of interest.
