In recent years, digestive operative endoscopy has become increasingly interventional and has started to offer a constructive and innovative collaboration with acute care surgery. This chapter presents the most innovative techniques and possibilities for cooperation between digestive endoscopy and acute care surgery, and describes the rationale for these methods. It also recalls practical information regarding periprocedural management. The chapter is divided into two parts: the first focuses on gastrointestinal endoscopy and the second on biliopancreatic endoscopy (endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography). The two parts have been organized by clinical pathology to illustrate how operative endoscopy may improve patient outcomes when carried out in close collaboration with acute care surgeon.
