Two silver nanoparticles containing compounds were prepared by simple chemical reactions and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), infra-red spectrum (FTIR) and atomic force microscope (AFM). These functionalized silver nanoparticles were used to study their biological activity against four types of fungi. These compounds proved to have high inhibition effect against all types of studied fungi. Due to the presence of silver nanoparticles which increases nystatin and clotrimazol interact with the fungi.

Plasticized polymer complex films of polyethylene oxide with ammonium perchlorate (NH4ClO4) are synthesized by using solution cast technique. Propylene carbonate (PC) used as dopant to enhance conductivity of polymer electrolyte. The prepared films are characterized in detail using X-ray diffraction, infrared spectral analysis, transient ionic current, and electrochemical impedance studies. Plasticized polymer electrolyte shows high ionic conductivity (∼10−4 S/cm) which appear as novel electrolyte for electrochemical devices.

In this paper, we have used polymer polyethylene oxide as a host matrix and novel electrolyte ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanomethanide as an dopant to increase ionic mobility. Different characterization techniques like Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, dielectric measurement, Fourier transform, X-ray diffraction, polarized optical microscopy, thermogravinometric analysis were used to identify the electrical, optical, structural and thermal properties. A laboratory scale supercapacitor has been fabricated using optimized solid polymer electrolyte film as an electrolyte and porous carbon derived from corn starch which shows a specific capacitance 13.6 F/g at 50 mV/s scan rate.

The natural polymer-containing nanocomposite (Ag-Ag2O-TiO2@Eggshell membrane protein) was prepared using a rapid and efficient one-pot method. Diagnosis of this nanostructure was performed by X-ray diffraction, Energy dispersive X-ray, and SEM. The characterization results proved that this multifunctional nanocomposite was successfully synthesized within the scale of nanoscience. The conductivity of this polymer was studied in the presence of sodium iodide using acetonitrile as a solvent by complex impedance spectroscopy. The conductivity measurements prove that the highest conductivity was obtained with the highest salt concentration 1:5=Na:O. Furthermore, Ag-Ag2O-TiO2@Eggshell membrane protein nanocomposite was used to study its ability for healing the wound infected with antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus for 2 weeks. The histopathological results have shown that there is an improvement in all the indicative signs of disease with rapid development of the epidermal layer proliferating and then healing of the infected wounds rapidly.

Treatment of 1,4-benzothiazin-3-one (Hbto) with mercury(II) acetate Hg(OAc)2 in 2:1 mol ratio affords [Hg(bto)2] (1) in 99% yield. The resulted complex was used as a synthon to prepare new mixed-ligand complexes with monophosphines or diphosphines of the types [Hg(bto)2(L)2] or [Hg(bto)2(L-L)]; where L = triphenylphosphine (Ph3P) (2) or triphenylphosphinesulfide (Ph3PS) (3); L-L = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe) (4) or 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphine)ferrocene (dppf) (5). FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 31P-{1H} NMR, molar conductivity and elemental analysis were used to characterize the resulted complexes. Results suggest that 'bto' ion in [Hg(bto)2] (1) is linked to mercury ion via exocyclic oxygen and endocyclic nitrogen atoms in a chelating bidentate fashion while in the complexes (2–5), it is linked to mercury ion via endocyclic nitrogen atom in a monodentate fashion. Furthermore, to take benefit of mercury complexes which were classified as toxic compounds, [Hg(bto)2] (1) complex has been evaluated for its susceptibility to hydrogen storage. The result of H2 storage showed that this complex can store 1.42 wt% of hydrogen under 88 bar and 77 K.

This article involves the synthesis of a new organic compound, benzothiazolilthiomethanol (BTTM) which derived from the reaction of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole with formaldehyde in ethanol. The resulting compound (BTTM) was diagnosed using the following techniques: FTIR, elemental analysis and 1H NMR. The research also included the preparation of silver nanowires depending on using green method. To enhance the idea even further, both as-prepared materials were spatially used to prepare new nanocomposite of the type organic–inorganic nanohybrid where silver was used to form the core while the organic matter was the shell. The resulting organic–inorganic nanohybrid was characterized using FTIR, XRD, EDX, SEM and TEM. The results of characterization techniques prove that a stable and sufficient amount of BTTM can be attached to the metal surface.

The reaction of the equimolar ratio of ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate {(NH4)PyDT} and sodium N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate (NaEt2DT) with the divalent ion salts of zinc, cadmium and mercury resulted in the complexes of the type [M(κ2-PyDT)(κ2-Et2DT)]; {M(II) = Zn, Cd, Hg}. These complexes were characterized using different techniques: elemental analysis, molar conductivity, FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C{1H} NMR and HSQC. The results demonstrate the bidentate chelating mode of the two dithiocarbamate ligands through the sulfur atoms to afford a tetrahedral geometry around the metal ion. Surprisingly, these coordination compounds were obtained as nanocomplexes with regular geometrical nanostructures as follows; [Zn(κ2-PyDT)(κ2-Et2DT)] (1) as nanosheets with a thickness of 21–24 nm, [Cd(κ2-PyDT)(κ2-Et2DT)] (2) as nanorods with a diameter of 70–380 nm while [Hg(κ2-PyDT)(κ2-Et2DT)] (3) was found as merged nanospheres with a diameter of 54–70 nm. These nanostructures have been demonstrated using the SEM and X-ray diffraction of the powder.

In linear regression model, the biased estimation is one of the most commonly used methods to reduce the effect of the multicollinearity. In this paper, a simulation study is performed to compare the relative efficiency of some kinds of biased estimators as well as for twelve proposed estimated ridge parameter (k) which are given in the literature. We propose some new adjustments to estimate the ridge parameter. Finally, we consider a real data set in economics to illustrate the results based on the estimated mean squared error (MSE) criterion. According to the results, all the proposed estimators of (k) are superior to ordinary least squared estimator (OLS), and the superiority among them based on minimum MSE matrix will change according to the sample under consideration.

Initially, a novel series of mixed ligand Pd(II) complexes of 2H[1,4]benzothiazin-3(4H)-one (Hbto) and diamine or phosphine ligands were successfully prepared with yields of 61 to 92%. The treatment of Na2PdCl4 with Hbto in acetone with 1:2 Pd to Hbto ratio affords cis-[PdCl2(Hbto)2] (1) that delivers an appropriate entry into mixed-ligand Hbto complexes. The complex (1) was used as a precursor for preparation the complexes of the type [Pd(Hbto)2(κ2-diamine)]Cl2; (diamine = en (2a), bipy (2b), phen (2c)) and [Pd(Hbto)2(κ2-diphosphine)]Cl2; (diphosphine = dppm (3a), dppe (3b), dppp (3c), dppf (3d)). Likewise, the mono phosphine (PPh3) was used to prepare the contrast complex with complex (1), however, to dissipate the suspicion that define complex [Pd(Hbto)2(PPh3)2]Cl2 is present in the cis or trans structure, two methods were used to prepare this complex, both of which demonstrated that the cis is the preferred structure for the complex [Pd(Hbto)2(PPh3)2]Cl2 (4). For all as-prepared complexes, the characterization techniques (molar conductivity, IR, 1H-, 13C-{1H}, 31P-{1H}NMR and elemental analyses) prove that the Hbto links to Pd(II) in a mono-dentate fashion through the exocyclic oxygen atom. To benefit from the complexes prepared, some as-prepared complexes (1), (2b) and (4) have been evaluated for their H2 storage at 77 K after measuring the N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms in order to get some information about BET surface areas of the samples. The results demonstrate that the selected prepared complexes were all able of storing the H2 and among the complexes (1), (2b) and (4), (2b) was the best one and was able to store 5.4 wt% of H2 under 70 bar and 77 K.

Fullerene biopolymer-magnetite nano inorganic composite is produced from newly prepared fullerene (C60) soluble eggshell membrane protein (SESMP) composite mixed with Fe3O4NPs. UV–Vis, FTIR, VSM, SEM, EDX and STEM are demonstrated that a stable Fe3O4 can be retained on the surface of C60-ESMP bio nanocomposite by a multi-step chemical reaction. The resulting eco-friendly C60-ESMP-Fe3O4 nano inorganic composite was screened for its magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) performance of arsenic in six crude oil and water samples using ICP-OES technique. The pH, eluent type, concentration and volume, standing, elution and sedimentation times, sample volume, C60-SESMP-Fe3O4 mass, interfering ions and reusability of the prepared nanocomposite have been examined. The optimal conditions were experimentally investigated to be pH = 8, sample volume = 50 mL and C60-SESMP-Fe3O4 mass = 20 mg with an enrichment factor of 20. The results of reuse were excellent, showing high reusability, which were 20 MSPE runs with only 0.2–1% error. The limits of detection (LOD) were found to be 0.0473 and 0.0325 ng. mL−1 for As(III) and As(V), respectively. Subsequently, relative standard deviations (RSD%) were determined as 1.15% for As(III) and 1.31% for As(V). These results indicate that this stable nanocomposites system would be an excellent candidate for removal of As(III) and As(V) rapidly from crude oil and water with the ability of reuse.
