Esophageal duplication cyst associated with pericardial defect in a 57-year-old man is reported. Differential diagnosis was very difficult in the preoperative examination. The tumor was a cyst and its wall was a perfect replica of normal esophagus e.g. esophageal duplication, and total left pericardial defect also was found at the operation. There was no malignant or inflammation findings in the excised specimens. The association of esophageal duplication cyst associated with pericardial defect is very rare.

A 57-year-old female with thyroid carcinoma, who had developed tracheal stenosis, underwent extensive tracheal resection and reconstruction. After the tracheal sleeve resection 5.2 cm in length, primary tracheal reconstruction was performed. Although complication did not occur at the anastomotic site, the patient had dyspnea due to cord dysfunction by bilateral recurrent nerve paralysis. After 20 days transnasal intubation we reoperated to perform a tracheostomy under neck incision. But the reconstructed trachea was too short to pull out from the mediastinum. In order to insert the silicone T tube, the incision of thyroid cartilage must be done and vocal cords were injured. The patient inserting the T tube through the laryngeal stoma had no dyspnea and no aspiration about two years after the operation in spite of palliative operation. It seemed likely that the trouble that tracheostomy could not be done would occur in some patients who had undergone extensive tracheal resection and reconstruction. But the insertion of silicone T tube through the laryngeal stoma provided a satisfactory result for airway problem.

There are few reports of nonpenetrating blunt chest trauma causing traumatic lung cyst. Three young male cases of traumatic lung cysts from motor vehicle accident were reported. Two of them, 25 and 17 years old male, had benign clinical courses by conservative management. But in another case of 25-year-old male, lung abscess followed infection of lung cyst occurred despite antibiotic therapy. A left lower lobectomy and a partial resection of left upper lobe was performed 46 days after the injury. Culture of the contents of the abscess confirmed Acinetobacter. His subsequent recovery was uneventful and he was discharged one month after the operation.
