Objective The objective of the current study was to find out the independent and interactive effects of prilled fat supplementation with protein on the production performance of early lactating Nili Ravi buffaloes. Methods Sixteen early lactating buffaloes (36.75±5.79 d in milk; mean±standard error) received 4 treatments in 4×4 Latin-square design according to 2×2 factorial arrangements. The dietary treatments were: i) low protein low fat, ii) low protein high fat, iii) high protein low fat, and iv) high protein high fat. The dietary treatments contained 2 protein (8.7% and 11.7% crude protein) and fat levels (2.6% and 4.6% ether extract) on a dry matter basis. Results The yields of milk and fat increased with increasing protein and fat independently (p≤0.05). Energy-, protein-, and fat-corrected milk yields also increased with increasing protein and fat independently (p≤0.05). Increasing dietary protein increased the protein yield by 3.75% and lactose yield by 3.15% and increasing dietary fat supplies increased the fat contents by 3.93% (p≤0.05). Milk yield and fat-corrected milk to dry matter intake ratios were increased at high protein and high fat levels (p≤0.05). Milk nitrogen efficiency was unaffected by dietary fat (p>0.10), whereas it decreased with increasing protein supplies (p≤0.05). Plasma urea nitrogen and cholesterol were increased by increasing protein and fat levels, respectively (p≤0.05). The values of predicted methane production reduced with increasing dietary protein and fat. Conclusion It is concluded that prilled fat and protein supplies increased milk and fat yield along with increased ratios of milk yield and fat-corrected milk yields to dry matter intake. However, no interaction was observed between prilled fat and protein supplementation for production parameters, body weight, body condition score and blood metabolites. Predicted methane production decreased with increasing protein and fat levels.

Abstract The concept of precision cell therapy targeting tumor-specific mutations is appealing but requires surface-exposed neoepitopes, which is a rarity in cancer. B cell receptors (BCR) of mature lymphoid malignancies are exceptional in that they harbor tumor-specific-stereotyped sequences in the form of point mutations that drive self-engagement of the BCR and autologous signaling. Here, we use a BCR light chain neoepitope defined by a characteristic point mutation (IGLV3-21R110) for selective targeting of a poor-risk subset of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) with chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells. We develop murine and humanized CAR constructs expressed in T cells from healthy donors and CLL patients that eradicate IGLV3-21R110 expressing cell lines and primary CLL cells, but neither cells expressing the non-pathogenic IGLV3-21G110 light chain nor polyclonal healthy B cells. In vivo experiments confirm epitope-selective cytolysis in xenograft models in female mice using engrafted IGLV3-21R110 expressing cell lines or primary CLL cells. We further demonstrate in two humanized mouse models lack of cytotoxicity towards human B cells. These data provide the basis for advanced approaches of resistance-preventive and biomarker-guided cellular targeting of functionally relevant lymphoma driver mutations sparing normal B cells.

A comprehensive design framework is proposed for optimizing sparse MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) arrays to enhance multi-target detection. The framework emphasizes efficient utilization of antenna resources, including strategies for minimizing inter-element mutual coupling and exploring alternative grid-based sparse array (GBSA) configurations by efficiently separating interacting elements. Alternative strategies are explored to enhance angular beamforming metrics, including beamwidth (BW), peak-to-sidelobe ratio (PSLR), and grating lobe limited field of view. Additionally, a set of performance metrics is introduced to evaluate virtual aperture effectiveness and beamwidth loss factors. The framework explores optimization strategies for the partial sharing of antenna elements, specifically tailored for multi-mode radar applications, utilizing the desirability function to enhance performance across various operational modes. A novel machine learning initialization approach is introduced for rapid convergence. Key observations include the potential for peak-to-sidelobe ratio (PSLR) reduction in dense arrays and insights into GBSA feasibility and performance compared to uniform arrays. The study validates the efficacy of the proposed framework through simulated and measured results. The study emphasizes the importance of effective sparse array processing in multi-target scenarios and highlights the advantages of the proposed design framework. The proposed design framework for grid-spaced sparse arrays stands out for its superior efficiency and applicability in processing hardware compared to both uniform and non-uniform arrays.

Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma is a novel, nonthermal, eco-friendly technology with broader food processing and preservation applications. Also, it efficiently involves pesticide degradation and converts it into a nontoxic substance without influencing food quality. In the present study, we probed the effect of DBD plasma on thiram (TH) fungicide reduction in tomato juice, vita ascorbic acid, total phenolics, antioxidant activity, and microbial and enzymatic activity. DBD plasma processing was carried out at different voltages (40 and 45 V) for 3, 4, and 5 min. GC-MS analyzed the TH fungicide reduction. Results revealed that the maximum decrease in TH in tomato juice was 74.1% at 45 V for 5 min. While based on the proposed degradation pathway, the thiram fungicide reduction depends on the loss or rupturing of C═S, S–S, and C–N through hydrolysis and oxidation process and formed substances like N-dimethyl thiocarbamoyl disulfide, dimethyl dithiocarbamate, and methyl dimethyldithiocarbamate etc. Increased DBD plasma voltage and treatment time significantly reduced the TH concentration (p ≤ 0.05). In contrast, more than the untreated sample, DBD plasma treatments significantly reduce (p ≤ 0.05) the TFC, ascorbic acid, and ORAC assay. Regarding juice safety, DBD plasma prolonged the shelf life by reducing the pectin methyl esterase (PME) and total viable count from 23.12 to 11.24 mmol/min/g and 5.63 to 1.38 log CFU/mL. From a future food industry perspective, DBD plasma processing can reduce organic residues (fungicides) and improve self-life.

BackgroundA useful clinical biomarker requires not only association but also a consistent temporal relationship. For instance, chemotherapy-induced neutropenia and epidermal growth-factor inhibitor-related acneiform rash both occur within weeks of treatment initiation, thereby providing information prior to efficacy assessment. Although immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-associated immune-related adverse events (irAE) have been associated with therapeutic benefit, irAE may have delayed and highly variable onset. To determine whether ICI efficacy and irAE could serve as clinically useful biomarkers for predicting each other, we determined the temporal relationship between initial efficacy assessment and irAE onset in a diverse population treated with ICI.MethodsUsing two-sided Fisher exact and Cochran-Armitage tests, we determined the relative timing of initial efficacy assessment and irAE occurrence in a cohort of 155 ICI-treated patients (median age 68 years, 40% women).ResultsInitial efficacy assessment was performed a median of 50 days [interquartile range (IQR) 39-59 days] after ICI initiation; median time to any irAE was 77 days (IQR 28-145 days) after ICI initiation. Median time to first irAE was 42 days (IQR 20-88 days). Overall, 58% of any irAE and 47% of first irAE occurred after initial efficacy assessment. For clinically significant (grade ≥2) irAE, 60% of any and 53% of first occurred after initial efficacy assessment. The likelihood of any future irAE did not differ according to response (45% for complete or partial response vs. 47% for other cases; P=1). In landmark analyses controlling for clinical and toxicity follow-up, patients demonstrating greater tumor shrinkage at initial efficacy assessment were more likely to develop future grade ≥2 (P=0.05) and multi-organ (P=0.02) irAE.ConclusionsIn contrast to that seen with chemotherapy and molecularly targeted therapies, the temporal relationship between ICI efficacy and toxicity is complex and bidirectional. In practice, neither parameter can be routinely relied on as a clinical biomarker to predict the other.

This paper presents an experimental study of simply supported ferrocement timber composite members. An adherently bound link is investigated. As a shear connector layer, an appropriate length for this type of composite beam was chosen to study the effect of shear strength on the impact of one point load (1.2 m). Sikadur 31 thixotropic epoxy resin adhesive is used. The research's primary goal is to collect data and provide information on the structural behavior of proposed ferrocement timber composite (FTC) beams. The thickness and width of timber beams, the presence and absence of a bonding layer on the shear connector, and the influence of sagging and hogging bending moments were also investigated. FTC beams are a relatively new civil engineering solution, and their behavior should be investigated to develop relevant methods for calculating their resistance. Two push-out tests were used to tentatively resolve the connector's slip and pinnacle load limits. The stiffness and strength of the connection utilized to bind a ferrocement slab to a timber beam were investigated by the authors. These criteria are critical for composite beam planning because the solidity and quality of a composite beam framework's connections determine its performance. A three-point loading test was performed on the composite beam specimens. Measurements also demonstrate that the connection is near-perfect because the slide is minimal during the test (except at failure). The pulsed electric field (PEF) application for processed food has gained industrial interest because of its cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness as compared to traditional thermal processing. The main drawback of traditional thermal processing is its adverse effects on food quality. Therefore, in recent eras, food industries have been looking for green technologies that do not affect the textural and sensory attributes of foods because the food texture is a vital parameter in food quality. Since, consumers' acceptance is concerned with the quality and physical appearance of the food. The application of PEF processing has detrimental impacts on food's textural properties, but it is based on the food's nature.Furthermore, the application of pulses, exposure time, and applied voltage are the most important variables influencing the efficacy of food processing and textural properties. Therefore, PEF processing parameters for each product need to be optimized. The earlier researchers highlighted that PEF processing had a positive impact on retaining the textural properties. In this review article, the impact of the PEF on the textural properties of various food products was summarized and discussed for the first time. Finally, the present review discussed the recent updates about the impact of PEF treatment and its possible mechanisms on the textural characteristics of foods.

Edible seaweed is a worthwhile source of natural pigments (NPs) such as carotenoids, chlorophylls, and phycobiliproteins, and these functional ingredients have been well-acknowledged due to their beneficial therapeutic properties. Green extraction techniques are the best option to generate them more effectively by shorter extraction times, lower operational temperatures, reduced solvent use, and process automation aid in efficient compound retrieval. These NPs show valuable biological properties such as neuroprotective, anti-cancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-angiogenic, and anti-obesity activities—the therapeutic potential of NPs highlights their potential applications in food industries. NPs are frequently used as food colorants, providing nutritional value and enhancing the sensorial and techno-functional properties of the final product. Also, the use of these NPs is presently being expanded to intelligent food packaging to observe food freshness and as a time-temperature indicator to improve the food properties and shelf life. Properly using seaweed in foods could incline a novel segment of seaweed-based hybrid/composite health foods. This review critically analyzes the recent advances from 2015 to 2023 in seaweed NPs' green extraction, their therapeutic properties, potential techno-functional properties ensuing in food items, and their role in intelligent food packaging systems.

We report the case of a 50-year-old woman with secondary oxalosis following bowel resection resulting in restrictive cardiomyopathy and a diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis based on the initial workup. The case documented findings by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and technetium Tc 99m–labeled pyrophosphate scan in patients with cardiac oxalosis, which can mimic findings in cardiac amyloidosis, expanding the differential diagnosis.

This bibliometric study investigates the publishing trends and patterns along with top authors, countries, organizations, nature of collaboration, and sub-areas of library leadership literature published from 1959 to 2022. The Scopus database was used for data extraction, and 500 relevant records were selected. The data were analyzed using Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer, Biblioshiny, and CiteSpace software. The results highlighted that the United States of America was a global trendsetter in library leadership research, being the top contributing country (313, 62.6% publications). They also identified the top productive author (Martin, J.), top-cited author (Ole Pors, N), top organization (University of Punjab, Pakistan), most preferable sources (Journal of Library Administration) and top-cited article (“Supporting Digital Scholarship in Research Libraries: Scalability and Sustainability” by Vinopal J). The highest research productivity was recorded in 2019, with 42 publications (8.4%), followed by 37 (7.4%) publications in 2018 and 2021. Furthermore, 270 publications (54%) on library leadership were published during the last decade (2011–2020). This study informed that most of the published literature on library leadership was general, following a solo authorship trend (314), with less collaborative research ( n = 186) and a significant number ( n = 148) of non-cited documents. The critical areas of future research identified in this study, including transformational, ethical, participative, and humanistic leadership, need to be investigated. The study suggests that emerging digital and virtual leadership areas should also be examined along with the areas with limited literature. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive bibliometric study to present a holistic picture of the library leadership literature.

Zinner syndrome is a rare congenital malformation of the mesonephric duct comprising of seminal vesicle cyst, ipsilateral renal agenesis, and ejaculatory duct obstruction. Clinical presentation varies with perineal pain, painful ejaculation, hematospermia and infertility common presenting complaints. Here, we present a case of Zinner syndrome in a 35-year-old male with a rare clinical presentation of only abdominal discomfort. The purpose of this case report is to highlight the challenging clinical presentation of Zinner syndrome and the use of imaging modalities in diagnosing the condition.

Hamman’s syndrome is a rare clinical entity that presents with spontaneous pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema. It is most commonly diagnosed in young men and pregnant women, and is rare in children. We report the case of a female toddler who presented to an emergency department with fever, cough and shortness of breath. Imaging studies revealed subcutaneous emphysema and pneumomediastinum. The patient was diagnosed with Hamman’s syndrome after ruling out other possibilities. We discuss the underlying mechanisms of the disease, the diagnostic criteria and the treatment options. The purpose of this case report is to improve clinicians’ awareness of the existence of this rare clinical entity in paediatric patients.

Porphyria refers to a rare group of genetically inherited or acquired disorders that arise due to reduced metabolic activity of any of the enzymes in the haem biosynthetic pathway. Defect in any enzyme causes the presentation of symptoms of porphyria. The epidemiology of Acute Intermittent Porphyria (AIP) is complicated because of its rarity and delay in diagnosis. We present the case of a seven-year-old girl who presented with multisystem involvement; her symptoms were quadriparesis, hypertension, recurrent severe cyclic abdominal pain, and seizures. These symptoms together were not explained by the differentials taken into account. She presented before puberty with no family history of such conditions, while being born of consanguineous marriage. Her symptoms along with urinary porphobilinogen positivity test helped to reach the diagnosis of AIP in the absence of cutaneous manifestations. ---Continue

Idiopathic pulmonary haemosiderosis is a rare disorder, with recurrent life-threatening alveolar haemorrhages and chronic lung parenchymal changes. It is associated with a triad of haemoptysis, iron deficiency anaemia, and diffuse pulmonary infiltrates. Although most cases are idiopathic, secondary haemosiderosis linked to known diseases has also been observed. Most of the cases remain undiagnosed because the disease is very low on the list of differentials. There is no specified age for the disease. The present study reports on an adolescent female patient who presented with microcytic anaemia and bilateral lung infiltrates to the National Institute of Child Health (NICH), Karachi, a tertiary care hospital. She was diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary haemosiderosis after ruling out other possibilities. The purpose of this study was to examine plasma-activated buffer solution (PABS) and plasma-activated water (PAW) combined with ultrasonication (U) treatment on the reduction of chlorothalonil fungicide and the quality of tomato fruits during storage. To obtain PAW and PABS, an atmospheric air plasma jet was used to treat buffer solution and deionized water at different treatment times (5 and 10 min). For combined treatments, fruits were submerged in PAW and PABS, then sonicated for 15 min, and individual treatment without sonication. As per the results, the maximum chlorothalonil reduction of 89.29% was detected in PAW-U10, followed by 85.43% in PABS. At the end of the storage period, the maximum reduction of 97.25% was recorded in PAW-U10, followed by 93.14% in PABS-U10. PAW, PABS, and both combined with ultrasound did not significantly affect the overall tomato fruit quality in the storage period. Our results revealed that PAW combined with sonication had a significant impact on post-harvest agrochemical degradation and retention of tomato quality than PABS. Conclusively, the integrated hurdle technologies effectively reduce agrochemical residues, which helps to lower health hazards and foodborne illnesses.

IMPORTANCE:. Initial Society of Critical Care Medicine Discovery Viral Infection and Respiratory illness Universal Study (VIRUS) Registry analysis suggested that improvements in critical care processes offered the greatest modifiable opportunity to improve critically ill COVID-19 patient outcomes. OBJECTIVES:. The Structured Team-based Optimal Patient-Centered Care for Virus COVID-19 ICU Collaborative was created to identify and speed implementation of best evidence based COVID-19 practices. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS:. This 6-month project included volunteer interprofessional teams from VIRUS Registry sites, who received online training on the Checklist for Early Recognition and Treatment of Acute Illness and iNjury approach, a structured and systematic method for delivering evidence based critical care. Collaborators participated in weekly 1-hour videoconference sessions on high impact topics, monthly quality improvement (QI) coaching sessions, and received extensive additional resources for asynchronous learning. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES:. Outcomes included learner engagement, satisfaction, and number of QI projects initiated by participating teams. RESULTS:. Eleven of 13 initial sites participated in the Collaborative from March 2, 2021, to September 29, 2021. A total of 67 learners participated in the Collaborative, including 23 nurses, 22 physicians, 10 pharmacists, nine respiratory therapists, and three nonclinicians. Site attendance among the 11 sites in the 25 videoconference sessions ranged between 82% and 100%, with three sites providing at least one team member for 100% of sessions. The majority reported that topics matched their scope of practice (69%) and would highly recommend the program to colleagues (77%). A total of nine QI projects were initiated across three clinical domains and focused on improving adherence to established critical care practice bundles, reducing nosocomial complications, and strengthening patient- and family-centered care in the ICU. Major factors impacting successful Collaborative engagement included an engaged interprofessional team; an established culture of engagement; opportunities to benchmark performance and accelerate institutional innovation, networking, and acclaim; and ready access to data that could be leveraged for QI purposes. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE:. Use of a virtual platform to establish a learning collaborative to accelerate the identification, dissemination, and implementation of critical care best practices for COVID-19 is feasible. Our experience offers important lessons for future collaborative efforts focused on improving ICU processes of care.

The current study investigated the impact of the predictors of workplace violence (harassment, physical violence, stalking, and ostracism) on sustainable work performance with mediating the role of social well-being of Pakistani nurses considering the ‘hierarchy of need’ theory. A survey method was used to conduct the current study. The data was collected from 400 respondents of four nursing teaching colleges, affiliated with hospitals of Lahore, Pakistan. The data was analyzed in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and Smart Partial Least Square (PLS) software using structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The results revealed a negative influence of workplace violence on the performance of nurses. Moreover, it tends to dissatisfy their safety and social needs, the most important human needs according to Maslow’s theory. Since Maslow’s time, researchers continued to explore how safety and social needs impact the well-being of nurses. Social well-being is related to better physical, mental, and social health and conversely, feeling isolated (unmet safety and social need) bears negative consequences for health and well-being. Eventually, it became the reason for low performance. The findings confirmed that workplace violence is the strong predictor of sustainable performance. Whereas, nurse’s social well-being mediates the relationship between the predictors (workplace violence) and the outcome variable (performance). Therefore, the study concluded that when safety and social needs are fulfilled, nurses perform their duties enthusiastically. This is the first endeavor to use the “hierarchy of need” theory in order to mediate the effect of violence, performance, and social well-being of nurses. Therefore, the current study served as a baseline for further research in this area. The findings helped the higher authorities and hospitals’ management to devise such policies which help nurses towards organizational growth and sustainable work environment.

BackgroundPrevious studies have shown sex differences in stroke care. Female patients have both lower thrombolytic treatment rates with OR reported as low as 0.57 and worse outcomes. With updated standards of care and improved access to care through telestroke, there is potential to reduce or alleviate these disparities.MethodsAcute stroke consultations seen by TeleSpecialists, LLC physicians in the emergency department in 203 facilities (23 states) from January 1, 2021 to April 30, 2021 were extracted from the Telecare by TeleSpecialists™ database. The encounters were reviewed for demographics, stroke time metrics, thrombolytics candidate, premorbid modified Rankin Score, NIHSS score, stroke risk factors, antithrombotic use, admitting diagnosis of suspected stroke, and reason not treated with thrombolytic. The treatment rates, door to needle (DTN) times, stroke metric times, and variables of treatment were compared for females and males.ResultsThere were 18,783 (10,073 female and 8,710 male) total patients included. Objective: To determine the frequency of hypoalbuminemia in critically ill children, and to assess the association of low serum albumin with clinical deterioration and outcome. Method: The prospective, descriptive study was conducted from September 1, 2020, to October 31, 2021, at the National Institute of Child Health, Karachi, and comprised critically ill children of either gender aged between 3 months and 16 years admitted to the paediatric intensive care unit. Serum albumin values were documented at 2 hours post-admission and at 24 hours. Paediatric Index of Mortality 2 score, Vasoactive Inotropic Score, and Paediatric Sequential Organ Failure Assessment scores were calculated. Hypoalbuminemia was defined as serum albumin 3.3gdl. Data was analysed using SPSS 27. Results: Of the 110 patients, 70(63.6%) were boys and 40(36.4%) were girls. The overall mean age was 46.72±43.28 months. Summary: Background: We aimed to explore the epidemiological, clinical, and phenotypic parameters of pediatric patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Pakistan. Methods: This longitudinal cohort study was conducted in five tertiary care hospitals in Pakistan from March 2020 to December 2021. Data on various epidemiological and clinical variables were collected using Case Report Forms (CRFs) adapted from the WHO COVID-19 clinical data platform at baseline and at monthly follow-ups for 3 months. Findings: A total of 1090 children were included. The median age was 5 years (Interquartile range 1–10), and the majority presented due to new signs/symptoms associated with COVID-19 (57.8%; n = 631), the most common being general and respiratory symptoms. Comorbidities were present in 417 (38.3%) children. Acute COVID-19 alone was found in 932 (85.5%) children, 81 (7.4%) had multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), 77 (7.0%) had overlapping features of acute COVID-19 and MIS-C, and severe disease was found in 775/1086 (71.4%). Steroids were given to 351 (32.2%) patients while 77 (7.1%) children received intravenous immunoglobulins. Intensive care unit (ICU) care was required in 334 (31.6%) patients, and 203 (18.3%) deaths were reported during the study period. The largest spike in cases and mortality was from July to September 2021 when the Delta variant first emerged. During the first and second follow-ups, 37 and 10 children expired respectively, and medical care after discharge was required in 204 (25.4%), 94 (16.6%), and 70 (13.7%) children respectively during each monthly follow-up. Interpretation: Our study highlights that acute COVID-19 was the major phenotype associated with high severity and mortality in children in Pakistan in contrast to what has been observed globally. The innovation and evolution of hacking methodologies have led to a sharp rise in cyber attacks, highlighting the need for enhanced network security approaches. Network intrusion detection systems based on machine learning are playing a significant role in the domain of network security. However, designing an optimal framework for a network intrusion detection system is an ongoing concern. In this study, an optimal framework for a network intrusion detection system based on image processing is proposed. The framework is a fusion of augmented feature selection flow with an image transformation and enhancement methodology. Initially, the proposed framework reduces the number of features to achieve overall efficiency. Later, the non-image data is transformed into images. The transformed images are then enhanced for achieving effective anomaly detection based on a deep-learning classifier. The proposed method is implemented on three diverse benchmark datasets of intrusion detection. To illustrate the efficiency of the proposed framework it is compared with some of the most recent publications on image-processing-based network intrusion detection systems.

Abstract This paper proposes a deep learning-based patch label denoising method (LossDiff) for improving the classification of whole-slide images of cancer using a convolutional neural network (CNN). Automated whole-slide image classification is often challenging, requiring a large amount of labeled data. Pathologists annotate the region of interest by marking malignant areas, which pose a high risk of introducing patch-based label noise by involving benign regions that are typically small in size within the malignant annotations, resulting in low classification accuracy with many Type-II errors. To overcome this critical problem, this paper presents a simple yet effective method for noisy patch classification. The proposed method, validated using stomach cancer images, provides a significant improvement compared to other existing methods in patch-based cancer classification, with accuracies of 98.81%, 97.30% and 89.47% for binary, ternary, and quaternary classes, respectively. Moreover, we conduct several experiments at different noise levels using a publicly available dataset to further demonstrate the robustness of the proposed method. Given the high cost of producing explicit annotations for whole-slide images and the unavoidable error-prone nature of the human annotation of medical images, the proposed method has practical implications for whole-slide image annotation and automated cancer diagnosis.

Over time, the use of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles)/drones has increased across several civil and military application domains. Such domains include real-time monitoring, remote sensing, wireless coverage in disaster areas, search and rescue, product delivery, surveillance, security, agriculture, civil infrastructure inspection, and the like. This rapid growth is opening doors to numerous opportunities and conveniences in everyday life. On the other hand, security and privacy concerns for unmanned aerial vehicles/drones are progressively increasing. With limited standardization and regulation of unmanned aerial vehicles/drones, security and privacy concerns are growing. This paper presents a brief analysis of unmanned aerial vehicle's/drones security and privacy-related concerns. The paper also presents countermeasures and recommendations to address such concerns. While laying out a brief survey of unmanned aerial vehicles/drones, the paper also provides readers with up-to-date information on existing regulations, classification, architecture, and communication methods. It also discusses application areas, vulnerabilities, existing countermeasures against different attacks, and related limitations. In the end, the paper concludes with a discussion on open research areas and recommendations on how the security and privacy of unmanned aerial vehicles can be improved.

Polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid or poly(I:C) is a double stranded RNA analog that is known for stimulating RNA sensing pathways in a variety of cell culture and animal models. Activation of nucleic acid sensing pathways lead to the up-regulation of Interferon-β which ultimately creates an antiviral state in the host. The involvement of intracellular DNA sensors in poly(I:C) mediated immune response has not been extensively explored. Poly(I:C) stimulates the intracellular DNA sensing in addition to RNA sensing pathways in buffalo fibroblasts. Genomic DNA leak into the cytosol due to poly(I:C) is likely to stimulate the intracellular DNA sensing pathways. The mRNA expression of DNA sensors cGAS, IFI16-L (IFI16-like) and DAI are elevated while DDX41 and STING are down-regulated in poly(I:C) treated cells. However, STING activation is evident in poly(I:C) treated cells through the formation of aggregates around the nucleus. IFI16-L also aggregates like STING and translocates from the nucleus to the cytoplasm in response to poly(I:C). The activation of DNA sensors by a dsRNA mimic indicates that mammalian cells can use their own molecules for defending themselves against pathogenic RNA viruses. This provides an opportunity to search for novel therapeutic targets against RNA viruses that evade detection by canonical pattern recognition receptors.

Sonication is an emerging sustainable and eco-friendly technology that has been broadly explored in food processing and preservation. Sonication has the edges of low energy consumption and high efficiency than conventional decontamination methods and would not pass on secondary pollutants. In the current research, we analyzed the impact of sonication on anilazine fungicide reduction, bioactive compound, antioxidant activity, colloidal stability, and enzymatic and microbial load of tomato juice. Sonicated treatments were carried out at 40 kHz, 480 W, 30 ± 2 °C for 0, 8, 16, 24, 32, and 40 min in an ultrasonic bath cleaner. The GC–MS outcomes revealed that the anilazine maximum reduction in tomato juice attained 80.52 % at 40 min of sonication. The anilazine concentration reduced significantly (p ≤ 0.05) with increased sonication time. In contrast, sonication treatments have acquired the highest TFC, TPC, ascorbic acid, carotenoids, lycopene, ABTS, and ORAC assay than the untreated sample. The Sonication process significantly improved (p ≤ 0.05) colloidal stability by reducing particle size distribution, apparent viscosity, and sedimentation index. Sonication prolonged tomato juice's shelf life by reducing the total viable count from 6.31 to 1.91 log CFU/mL. Polygalacturonase and pectin methyl esterase of the sonication sample at 40 min were inactivated by 44.32 % and 64.2 %, respectively. Considering this issue from a future perspective, sonication processing can be used industrially to enhance fruit juice's nutritional properties and shelf life and reduce pesticides and other organic residues.

Among different novel technologies, sonochemistry is a sustainable emerging technology for food processing, preservation, and pesticide removal. The study aimed to probe the impact of high-intensity ultrasonication on chlorothalonil fungicide degradation, reduction pathway, and bioactive availability of spinach juice. The chlorothalonil fungicide-immersed spinach juice was treated with sonication at 360 W, 480 W, and 600 W, 40 kHz, for 30 and 40 min at 30 ± 1 °C. The highest reduction of chlorothalonil fungicide residues was observed at 40 min sonication at 600 W. HPLC-MS (high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy) analysis revealed the degradation pathway of chlorothalonil and the formation of m-phthalonitrile, 3-cyno-2,4,5,6-tetrachlorobenamide, 4-dichloroisophthalonitrile, trichloroisophtalonitrile, 4-hydoxychlorothalonil, and 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorochlorobenzonitrile as degradation products. High-intensity sonication treatments also significantly increased the bioavailability of phenolic, chlorophyll, and anthocyanins and the antioxidant activity of spinach juice. Our results proposed that sonication technology has excellent potential in degrading pesticides through free radical reactions formation and pyrolysis. Considering future perspectives, ultrasonication could be employed industrially to reduce pesticide residues from agricultural products and enhance the quality of spinach juice.

Background: Only 1% of all aortoiliac aneurysms could be presented with isolated internal iliac artery aneurysms with an incidence of 0.1% in the general population. Patients are mostly asymptomatic, yet they can present with clinical presentations related to aneurysm size and adjacent anatomical structures. Case Presentation: We report the case of a 76-year-old male patient with ruptured isolated internal iliac artery aneurysm presenting as ecchymosis and severe thigh pain with redness and discoloration. The patient was known hypertensive, diabetic type 2, and had end-stage renal disease but was not on regular hemodialysis. The patient's vital signs and systemic and abdominal examination were unremarkable, further laboratory tests were also normal. There was no sign of surrounding cellulitis and all the peripheral pulses were intact and normal. Because of unclear diagnosis and repeated visits to the emergency department, the patient was admitted for further investigation to rule out malignancy. CT abdomen was conducted and it revealed a ruptured internal iliac artery aneurysm with an extension into the gluteal region. Conclusion: Early diagnosis of isolated internal iliac artery aneurysm is difficult, as it is more easily detected when it is expanded or ruptured, which significantly increases morbidity and mortality rates and determines poor prognosis. Therefore, there are diagnostic as well therapeutic challenges. Surgical ligation is known as the most common management approach; however, the endovascular approach has shown promising outcomes, even in cases of a ruptured aneurysms. Metabolic syndrome (MS) is a prominent cause of death worldwide, posing a threat to the global economy and public health. A mechanism that causes the oxidation of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) is associated with metabolic abnormalities. Various processes are involved in oxidative stress (OS) of lipoprotein. Although the concept of the syndrome has been fiercely debated, this confluence of risk factors is associated with a higher chance of acquiring type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and atherosclerosis. Insulin resistance has been found to play a significant role in the progression of these metabolism-associated conditions. It causes lipid profile abnormalities, including greater sensitivity to lipid peroxidation, contributing to the increased prevalence of T2DM and atherosclerosis. This review aims to cover the most recent scientific developments in dietary OS, the consequence of metabolic disorders, and their most significant clinical manifestations (T2DM and atherosclerosis). It will also emphasize the effects of dietary approaches in alleviating OS in MS.

This study has conducted a meta-literature review examining the past, present and possible future trends of Fintech research using 360 selected articles published between 2006 and June 2020. Both quantitative and qualitative techniques were applied. In the quantitative approach, a bibliometric citation analysis using HistCite and VOSviewer software was conducted and the qualitative analysis covered the identification of four main research streams related to (i) Bitcoin and digital currency, (ii) crowdfunding, (iii) mobile payment, and (iv) blockchain. The study results highlight the most influential aspects of the FinTech literature, such as the leading countries, institutions, journals, authors, and articles. Suggestions for the potential future direction of FinTech literature have also been made.

Several disease-modulatory FDA-approved drugs are being used in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. However, information on their toxicity-related profiles is very limited. Therefore, measurement of drug toxicity is essential to increase the knowledge of their side effects. This study aimed to identify compounds that can modulate M-cell regeneration by causing neuro-protection and -toxicity. Here, we developed a simple and efficient in vivo assay using Tg (hsp: Gal4FF62A; UAS: nfsB-mCherry) transgenic zebrafish larvae. Interestingly, via the phenotype-based drug screening approach, we rapidly investigated 1,260 compounds from the United States drug collection and validated these in large numbers, including 14 compounds, that were obstructing this regeneration process. Next, 4 FDA-approved drugs out of 14 compounds were selected as the lead hits for in silico analysis to clarify their binding patterns with PTEN and SOCS3 signaling due to their significant potential in the inhibition of axon regeneration. Molecular docking studies indicated good binding affinity of all 4 drugs with the respective signaling molecules. This may point to PTEN and SOCS3 as the signaling molecules responsible for reducing axon regeneration. Moreover, the acute effect of compounds in reducing M-cell regeneration delineated their toxic effect. In conclusion, our in vivo along with in silico screening strategy will promote the rapid translation of new therapeutics to improve knowledge of the toxicity profile of approved/non-approved drugs efficiently.

Pathogenic aging is regarded as asymptomatic AD when there is no cognitive deficit except for neuropathology consistent with Alzheimer's disease. These individuals are highly susceptible to developing AD. Braak and Braak's theory specific to tau pathology illustrates that the brain's temporal cortex region is an initiation site for early AD progression. So, the hub gene analysis of this region may reveal early altered biological cascades that may be helpful to alleviate AD in an early stage. Meanwhile, cognitive processing also drags its attention because cognitive impairment is the ultimate result of AD. Therefore, this study aimed to explore changes in gene expression of aged control, asymptomatic AD (AsymAD), and symptomatic AD (symAD) in the temporal cortex region. We used microarray data sets to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) with the help of the R programming interface. Further, we constructed the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network by performing the STRING plugin in Cytoscape and determined the hub genes via the CytoHubba plugin. Furthermore, we conducted Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis via Bioconductor's cluster profile package. Resultant, the AsymAD transcriptome revealed the early-stage changes of glutamatergic hyperexcitability. Whereas the connectivity of major hub genes in this network indicates a shift from initially reduced rRNA biosynthesis in the AsymAD group to impaired protein synthesis in the symAD group. Both share the phenomenon of breaking tight junctions and others. In conclusion, this study offers new understandings of the early biological vicissitudes that occur in the brain before the manifestation of symAD and gives new promising therapeutic targets for early AD intervention.

BackgroundSevere acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes coronavirus disease- 2019 (COVID-19), has been a global epidemic in our healthcare system. SARS-CoV-2 primarily affects the respiratory system, but neurological involvement has also been reported, including Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) development.Case PresentationA 58-year-old male with known co-morbid hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus presented to the emergency room with complaints of worsening shortness of breath, dry cough, and fever for the past 10 days. On day 20 of hospitalization, he developed neurological symptoms after being tested positive for COVID-19. A neuroelectrophysiology study was conducted to evaluate neurological symptoms and suggested that the patient suffers from acute motor-sensory axonal polyneuropathy (AMSAN). CSF analysis showed elevated protein levels that confirmed the diagnosis of GBS. He was subsequently treated with oral prednisolone and IVIG, which improved neurological symptoms.ConclusionEver since the emergence of COVID-19, GBS has surfaced as to its potentially dangerous outcome. Healthcare professionals should be mindful of GBS and should rule it out in anyone having sensory symptoms or weakness during or after a COVID-19 infection. Its early detection and treatment can result in improved clinical outcomes.

In 2019, MUET is ranked 271 in the world, 2nd in Pakistan, 1st in Sindh Province, and slotted 275th in terms of Energy and Climate change (EC) indicators implementations on Sustainable development by UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. UI GreenMetric is a sustainability-based ranking whose aim is to provide rankings of universities all over the world based on their efforts for the implementation of pre-define indicator criteria. One of the criteria for this ranking is the Energy and Climate change (EC) indicator which had a most 21 percent weightage. In this review, this paper presents a detailed analysis for the implementation of EC indicators of UI GreenMetric World University Rankings to reduce carbon dioxide footprints and maintain sustainability at MUET gymnasium fitness facility. In this mechanism, an Energy Efficient Flywheel-Based KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) Bicycle Generator is designed and developed. Additionally, a techno-economic (Energy, Cost and Co2 emission saving) beneficial analysis of generators with their usage as a free renewable energy source to overcome luminosity demand of MUET gymnasium fitness facility by an efficient LED lighting system and their relative relation with the EC indicator implementation is also discussed.

We propose a new fractional-order (space and time) total variation regularized model for multiplicative noise removal in this research article. We use the regularly varying fuzzy membership degrees to characterize the likelihood of a pixel related to edges, texture regions, and flat regions to improve model efficiency. This approach is capable of maintaining edges, textures, and other image information while significantly reducing the blocky effect. We opt for the option of local actions. In order to efficiently find the minimizer of the prescribed energy function, the semi-implicit gradient descent approach is used (which derives the corresponding fractional-order Euler-Lagrange equations). The existence and uniqueness of a solution to the suggested variational model are proved. Experimental results show the efficiency of the suggested model in visual enhancement, preserving details and reducing the blocky effect while extracting noise as well as an increase in the PSNR (dB), SSIM, relative error, and less CPU time(s) comparing to other schemes.

Detecting intrusion in network traffic has remained a problematic task for years. Progress in the field of machine learning is paving the way for enhancing intrusion detection systems. Due to this progress intrusion detection has become an integral part of network security. Intrusion detection has achieved high detection accuracy with the help of supervised machine learning methods. A key factor in enhancing the performance of supervised classifiers is how data is augmented for training the classification model. Data in real-world networks or publicly available datasets are not always normally (Gaussian) distributed. Instead, the distributions of variables are more likely to be skewed. To achieve a high detection rate, data normalization or transformation plays an important role for machine learning-based intrusion detection systems. Several methods are available to normalize the attributes of the data before training a classification model. However, opting for the most suitable normalization technique is still a questionable task. In this paper, a statistical method is proposed that can identify the most suitable normalization method for the dataset. The normalization method identified by the proposed approach gives the highest accuracy for an intrusion detection system. To highlight the efficiency of the proposed method, five different datasets were used with two different feature selection methods. The datasets belong to both Internet of things and traditional network environments. The proposed method is also able to identify hybrid normalizations to achieve even improved intrusion detection results.

In this paper, we show that total graph of path power three and four have unbounded metric dimension. We also proved some results on edges of power of path graph.

OBJECTIVES:. To describe the prevalence, associated risk factors, and outcomes of serious neurologic manifestations (encephalopathy, stroke, seizure, and meningitis/encephalitis) among patients hospitalized with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. DESIGN:. Prospective observational study. SETTING:. One hundred seventy-nine hospitals in 24 countries within the Society of Critical Care Medicine Discovery Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study COVID-19 Registry. PATIENTS:. Hospitalized adults with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. INTERVENTIONS:. None. RESULTS:. Of 16,225 patients enrolled in the registry with hospital discharge status available, 2,092 (12.9%) developed serious neurologic manifestations including 1,656 (10.2%) with encephalopathy at admission, 331 (2.0%) with stroke, 243 (1.5%) with seizure, and 73 (0.5%) with meningitis/encephalitis at admission or during hospitalization. Patients with serious neurologic manifestations of COVID-19 were older with median (interquartile range) age 72 years (61.0–81.0 yr) versus 61 years (48.0–72.0 yr) and had higher prevalence of chronic medical conditions, including vascular risk factors. Adjusting for age, sex, and time since the onset of the pandemic, serious neurologic manifestations were associated with more severe disease (odds ratio [OR], 1.49; p < 0.001) as defined by the World Health Organization ordinal disease severity scale for COVID-19 infection. Patients with neurologic manifestations were more likely to be admitted to the ICU (OR, 1.45; p < 0.001) and require critical care interventions (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: OR, 1.78; p = 0.009 and renal replacement therapy: OR, 1.99; p < 0.001). Hospital, ICU, and 28-day mortality for patients with neurologic manifestations was higher (OR, 1.51, 1.37, and 1.58; p < 0.001), and patients had fewer ICU-free, hospital-free, and ventilator-free days (estimated difference in days, –0.84, –1.34, and –0.84; p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS:. Encephalopathy at admission is common in hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection and is associated with worse outcomes. While serious neurologic manifestations including stroke, seizure, and meningitis/encephalitis were less common, all were associated with increased ICU support utilization, more severe disease, and worse outcomes.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths, with adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas (ASCP), a rare variant, representing 1-10% of cases. Standard chemotherapy trials for pancreatic cancer exclude ASCP, leaving its optimal treatment uncertain. This report describes a 68-year-old male with metastatic ASCP and a KRAS G12C mutation, progressing through multiple lines of systemic therapy, including targeted inhibition of KRAS G12C. Notably, the patient exhibited a robust response to single-agent immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI) with pembrolizumab, despite intact mismatch repair proteins. The limited success of traditional therapies in pancreatic cancer, coupled with the rarity of ASCP, presents a challenge in establishing effective treatment strategies. While KRAS G12C inhibitors demonstrated modest benefits, this case highlights the remarkable response to ICI in a patient with squamous histology. The distinct tumor microenvironment of ASCP, characterized by squamous differentiation, may contribute to this exceptional response. This underscores the need for further research and clinical trials focused on ICI in ASCP, with an ongoing multi-center phase 2 trial investigating outcomes in this specific subset.
