Contrary to common opinion, Muslim women have had a significant historical presence. Long-acting injectable antipsychotics (LAIs) increase drug compliance and offer a reliable treatment option with stable pharmacokinetics. The aim of our study is to examine the rate and predictors of LAIs' prescription at discharge in inpatients with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. This retrospective study included 400 inpatients. Sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of the patients, the treatments applied in the past and prescribed at discharge were obtained from the hospitalization files. We compared these characteristics of those who were given LAI treatment at discharge to the patients who were given oral treatments. Thirty-nine percent of the patients were prescribed a LAI at discharge. Duration of illness was longer, and number of previous hospitalizations was higher in the LAI group. Nonadherence to the antipsychotics before the hospitalization, the previous history of LAI use, lack of insight at the admission and no previous antidepressant use were found as independent contributors to LAI prescription as the treatment of discharge in logistic regression analysis. Our study showed that LAIs are used at a high rate in our clinic; however, they are still initiated at a later stage, mostly in chronic patients with a lack of insight and compliance at admission.

Физиологические роды после кесарева сечения являются актуальной проблемой в акушерстве. Цель исследования: оценить состояние рубца матки после предыдущего кесарева сечения у беременных и, в зависимости от состояния рубца, выбрать оптимальный метод родоразрешения. В период 33-36 нед беременности 29 беременных с рубцом матки прошли клинико-анамнестическое, объективное исследование рубца и инструментальное обследование (УЗИ (ультразвук) и кардиотокографию (КТГ)). Обследованными пациентками было клинически установлено наличие полного рубца на матке. Среди обследованных пациенток все (29 женщин) родили вовремя. После родов состояние рубца оценивалось как нормальное у всех обследованных пациентов. Шесть женщин, участвовавших в исследовании, прошли гистероскопическое обследование полости матки. Исследование подтвердило наличие полного рубца на маткe.

The relevance of the work is due to the high prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) among the population and high mortality from cardiovascular disease (CVD) in this population. In this connection, it is necessary to search for new biomarkers in order to early identify individuals with cardiovascular risk in patients with CKD. The purpose of this study to assess the endocan level in patients with CKD depending on the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), to study the relationship between the endocan level and other cardiovascular risk factors in patients with CKD. Material and methods. 153 respondents with various stages of CKD were examined. The study included socio-demographic, anthropometric data, blood pressure measurements, cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL), triglycerides (TG), glucose and endocan. Data analysis was performed using the statistical software package SPSS 22. Results and discussion. The respondents in the groups did not differ in such indicators as gender, age, marital status, frequency of active smoking, diabetes, body mass index (BMI). Significant differences were found in the level of education (p=0.04), income (p=0.008), systolic pressure (SBP) (p=0.0001) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) (p=0.0001). Levels of total cholesterol (cholesterol), (p=0.0001), uric acid (p=0.0001), cystatin C (p=0.0001) and endocan (p=0.0001) also had significant differences depending on GFR. Conclusion. A comparative analysis of the frequency of “traditional” cardiovascular risk factors among patients with various stages of CKD showed the absence of differences in the frequency of active smoking, diabetes mellitus, obesity and the presence of significant differences in blood pressure and total cholesterol (p = 0.0001). Evaluation of the endocan level depending on the stage of CKD showed that with the progression of CKD, the endocan level increases significantly (p = 0.0001), which may indicate the progression of endothelial dysfunction with impaired renal function. Further studies are needed to determine the prognostic value of endocan in the development of cardiovascular events in patients with CKD. And religions occupy the most important place in the formation of her personality. Because religions believe that God created everything and He knows its characteristics best of all. But in most cases, it is about changing the principles of religion by people in their favor. This article examines the role and importance of women in the Abrahamic religions, as well as the reasons for the change in this role in more recent times. Hereditary spastic paraplegias (HSP) are a group of neurodegenerative diseases that present with weakness and stiffness in the lower limb muscles and lead to progressive neurological decline. Bi-allelic loss-of-function variants in genes that encode subunits of the adaptor protein complex 4 (AP-4) lead to complex HSP. This study aimed to identify causative genetic variants in consanguineous families with HSP from Azerbaijan and Pakistan.We performed a thorough clinical and neuroradiological characterization followed by exome sequencing in 7 patients from 3 unrelated families. Segregation analysis was subsequently performed by Sanger sequencing.We describe 7 patients (4 males, 2-31 years of age) with developmental delay and spasticity. Similar to the previously reported cases with AP4B1-associated HSP, cases in the present report besides spasticity in the lower limbs had additional features including microcephaly, facial dysmorphism, infantile hypotonia, and epilepsy. The imaging findings included thin corpus callosum, white matter loss, and ventriculomegaly.In this study, we report 7 novel cases of HSP caused by bi-allelic variants in AP4B1 in Azerbaijani and Pakistani families. Our observations will help clinicians observe and compare common and unique clinical features of AP4B1-associated HSP patients, further improving our current understanding of HSP.

Tədqiqatın məqsədi - peri və postmenopuzal simptomların müalicəsində sintetik genistein pereparatının effektivliyinin və təhlükəsizliyinin qiymətləndirilməsi olmuşdur. Material və metodlar. Tədqiqata klimakterik sindromunun ağırlığı modifikasiyalı menopauzal indeks (MMİ) ilə qiymətləndirilən 23 qadın qatılmışdır. Bütün pasiyentlər sintetik genistein preparatını sutkalıq 60 mq dozada 6 ay ərzində qəbul edirdilər. Genistein effektivliyi MMİ dinamikasının, vegetativ disfunksiyanın göstəriciləri, həyat keyfiyyəti üzrə, təhlükəsizliyi isə- klinik müayinənin nəticələri, qaraciyərin funksiyasının biokimyəvi markerləri, kiçik çanaq orqanlarının, qarın boşluğunun və süd vəzilərinin ultrasəs müayinələrinin nəticələri əsasında qiymətləndirilirdi. Nəticələr. Genistein yüngül və orta ağır dərəcəli menopauzal pozulmaların korreksiyasında yüksək effektivlik göstərmişdir. Müalicədən 6 ay sonra MMİ 47,8-dən 17,3 % qədər statistik cəhətdən əhəmiyyətli (p˂0,005) dərəcədə azalması qeyd olunmuşdur. Eyni zamanda vegetativ pozulmaların orta indeksinin 41,4 ± 8,3-dən 23,6 ± 6,4 (p˂0,005) azalması və MOS SF -36 anketin göstəricilərinə əsasən pasiyentlərin əhvalının müsbət dinamikası qeyd olunmuşdur. Background and Aims Patients getting maintenance haemodialysis (HD) are at higher risk for acquiring Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infections than the general population. Strict infection control measures are essential to prevent nosocomial transmission. We aimed to investigate the incidence and prevalence of HBV and HCV infection in the HD population of Almaty dialysis units as well as risk factors for infection. Method All adult patients getting maintenance HD (n=700) in Almaty dialysis centres (n=4) were studied between May 2016 and December 2019. Testing for Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and anti-HCV antibodies was performed at initiation of dialysis and every 3–6 months thereafter. Serological markers for HBV and HCV were determined with immunoenzymatic assay (ELISA). Results Participant median age was 40 years and 58% were male. 110 patients (34.9%) were sero-positive for HBV and/or HCV (anti-HCV positive 31.1%; HBsAg positive 2.6%; both positive 1.2%). Of the sero-positive patients 4.7% were known to be infected before the initiation of HD. The prevalence of HBV±HCV infection varied widely between HD centres from 0% to 75.9%. Sero-positive patients were younger, had longer time on dialysis and more previous blood transfusions. Wide variation in rates of newly acquired infections was observed between dialysis centres. All new HBV cases were referred from centres already treating HBV infected patients. New HCV infections were reported in most centres but the rate of HCV sero-conversion varied widely from 1.5% to 31%. Duration of dialysis, history of previous renal transplant and history of receiving HD in another centre in Almaty were significantly associated with sero-conversion. Major risk factors identified by a standard questionnaire in 302 of 270 patients were the number of blood transfusions individuals had received and duration of dialysis, the latter including patients who received no blood transfusions Conclusion HBV and HCV prevalence in our HD patients is still high. These data emphasize the need for stricter adherence to infection control, barrier precaution and preventive behaviors with all patients. INTRODUCTION: Rotavirus is a leading cause of acute gastroenteritis and mortality among children worldwide but data describing rotavirus disease in Azerbaijan are lacking. This analysis describes the rotavirus disease burden in Baku, the largest city in Azerbaijan. METHODS: We conducted active, prospective, sentinel hospital surveillance with laboratory confirmation for rotavirus among children under 5 years of age hospitalized at a large pediatric hospital in Baku during 2011–2016. Children with bloody diarrhea, or prior use of antibiotics or intravenous fluids were excluded. The guardians of enrolled children completed a questionnaire documenting clinical and demographic information. A stool specimen was collected from each enrolled child. We report the number and proportion of rotavirus positive hospitalizations during the surveillance period and a clinical description of rotavirus-positive and rotavirus-negative children.
