PCR ,produtos cárneos ,meat products ,Listeria monocytogenes - Abstract
Listeria monocytogenes is a pathogen disclosed by foods. Its accurate identification is important for the correct determination of the risk associated with the ingestion of food. The aim of this research was to determine the occurrence of Listeria spp. in samples of hot dog sausages and ground beef, sold in bulk in the Federal District. A total of 162 samples, 127 hot dog sausages and 35 samples of ground beef cattle, were analyzed. The isolation and identification of the genus were made by conventional methodology and distinction of species was verified by specific biochemical kit (API-Listeria®) and by restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) of 23S rRNA gene. Twenty-six strains of Listeria spp. were isolated. Samples of hot dog sausages identified 18 strains of Listeria innocua and 08 strains of Listeria monocytogenes. Of the 35 samples of ground beef cattle were isolated, 16 strains of Listeria spp., 12 strains of Listeria innocua and 04 strains of Listeria monocytogenes. There was total agreement in the distinction of Listeria species using the two methods. The presence of Listeria spp. in samples of hot dog sausages and ground beef, sold in bulk in commercial establishment of the Federal District represents a risk to consumer health.

Planaltina, P. maximum Jacq., cv. Aruana e P. maximum Jacq., cv. Tanzânia), no período seco do ano. Carcass traits, non-carcass components and 12th rib yield of Santa Inês sheep finished in rotational grazing with three different tropical grasses (A. gayanus Kunth. cv. Planaltina, P. maximum Jacq. cv. Aruana and P. maximum Jacq. cv. Tanzania) were evaluated in the dry season of the year. A completely randomized design with 11 sheep (3 months old and 18.8 ± 2.88 kg LW) in each treatment was used. Animals were supplemented with increasing levels of concentrate, as advancing of the dry season, besides ad libitum mineral salt. At the end of 82 days of experiment, the animals were slaughtered, in the previous day of the slaughter; loin eye area (LYA) was measured using ultra-sound (EMUS). Carcasses were evaluated for slaughter weight (SW), hot carcass weight (HCW), hot carcass dressing (HCD), carcass length (CL), subcutaneous fat score (SFATS), hot half carcass weight (HHCW), half carcass cuts (Rib/Belly, Rack, Back, Shoulder, Leg and Neck), skin weight (SKIN), thoracic (TV) and abdominal (AV) viscera and testicular (TE). The 12th rib was evaluated for total weight (TW), LYA, amount and percentage of muscle (MUSC), bone (BONE) and fat (FAT) as well as chemical composition. The characteristics SW, HCD, HHCW, SKIN and FAT did not differ between animals finished on Aruana and Tanzania grass, however were superior to those on andropogon grass. The yields on Neck, Rib/Belly and Rack in animals finished in tanzânia grass was superior to those on andropogon grass and aruana grass, which did not differ between itself. The other carcass traits, non-carcass components and 12th rib analyses did not differ between treatments. Sheep kept on aruana grass and tanzania grass howed better carcass traits with more satisfactory production levels when compared to the animals finished on andropogon grass.

The aim of this research was to detect the principal reasons for condemnation of poultry carcasses in two slaughterhouses (A and B); located in the southeastern region of the State of Goiás, Brazil. The data were collected by the federal veterinary inspection services of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture between January and April 2007. The principal causes of condemnation observed in both industries were cellulite, contusion/ fractures and bruises, as well as contamination due to gut severance at evisceration. The three main values observed for each of the causes were different between the slaughter houses. In A, cellulite was the main cause of condemnation with 51.20% of all condemnations, followed by 5.67% for contusion/ fractures and bruising and 33.61% for contamination by evisceration. In B, the major cause of condemnation was 28.90% due to fractures/ contusion and bruising, followed by 25.27% for cellulite and 22.50% for contamination. Other causes of condemnation were observed, however in minute quantities in both industries (

Cabras Saanen ,Curva de crescimento ,Herdabilidade - Abstract
Data from 1215 kids, with 402 Saanen, 396 Alpine, 200 T oggenburg and 217 ½ Alpine goats, was collected on growth of goats in the F ederal D istrict, B razil from 1995 to 2001. For variance analyses were considered as fixed effect farm, breed, sex, kidding type, month and year of kidding and weight of dam as a covariable. T raits as birth weight and growth from birth to weaning and weaning to first insemination were studied. There was a significant effect of breed, sex and type of kidding on birth weight while weaning weight was only influenced by breed. Month and year of kidding were significant in influencing growth rate after birth. Number of days to insemination weight was influenced by both breed and month of kidding while the insemination weight itself was not influenced by any of the factors studied. I nsemination weight was lowly correlated with the other traits in the study, as was to be expected. D ays to insemination weight was most highly and negatively correlated with growth rate after weaning and weaning weight showing that faster growing animals that were larger at weaning reached insemination weight more quickly. T he correlation between weaning weight and growth rate after weaning was low indicating that animals heavier at weaning did not necessarily grow faster after weaning.

- Abstract
This experiment was conducted to evaluate the swine performance in deep bedding breeding. Were used 480 pigs in an experimental design of randomized blocks, and fatorial arrangement 2 x 2 (crossbreeding x sex), with three replications and forty animals per experimental unit. Were evaluated the pigs performance traits, backfat thickness (ET) between 10th and 11th rib and in the P2 height and loin eye area (AOL) using real-time ultrasond during the experimental period. Sex effect was verified: male presented results better than female for weekly intake (CS) and daily feed intake (CD); however, feed: gain ratio (CA) and feed efficiency (EA) for male were worse than females. There were not differences in average daily gain (GPD), between males and females.

This study aimed to evaluate the fermentation potencial using the in vitro gas production technique and degradability of dry matter (DMD) of the macaúba co-products (Acrocomia aculeata), validating the use of in vitro gas production method used in ruminants to pigs. Two experimental trials were performed in the first trial were used as inoculum: pig cecum raised in a free range system (CSF), swine ceca raised in a conventional confined system (CSC) and bovine rumen fluid (LRB). In the second trial were used the same swine inoculums (CSF and CSC), but it was used sheep rumen fluid (LRO). The substrates used were derived from a swine diet (basal diet) based in soybean meal and corn grits according to the nutritional requirements of swines. To establish the substrates, were set different levels of substitution of basal diet by meal almond Acrocomia aculeata (AA), as follows: BAS - 100% of basal diet; M10 - 90% of basal diet and 10% AA; M20 - 80% of basal diet and 20% AA and TF - Tifton 85 hay (Cynodon spp.). In the second test the substrates used were: almond meal (TAM) and pulp of Acrocomia aculeata (TPM), where the meals were waste products obtained from the macaúba oil extraction, Cassava peels and freeze-dried corn silage (SIL). All substrates were previously subjected to the grinding process. Gas production was evaluated at times 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 16, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after incubation, analyzing the maximum potential of gas production (A) lag time (L) and gas production rate (μ). D was assessed at 24 and 96 hours. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial arrangement 4 x 3. The data A, L, μ and DMD were subjected to analysis of variance and means compared by Tukey`s 5% test. Comparing the inoculum for A (ml / gDM) in the first trial, LRB and CSF showed similar values, differing only for TF, showing similarity between these two inoculums. In the second trial, the parameter A (ml / gDM) was evaluated by inoculum and there was no difference between the inoculums to the TPM substrate. The CSC inoculum presented higher values of A for TAM and CM, and TAM in the CSF did not differ from LRO and in CM the LRO inoculum showed the lowest value for A. The inoculums studies showed proximity relative to the production of gases and degradability of the dry matter, especially among bovine rumen fluid and pig cecum created outdoors, showing similarity between these inoculums.

As gemas de ovos frescos apresentaram menores (P 0,05) data from production and egg quality. No significant differences (P>0.05) were identified in any of the studied variables when diets were supplemented with different levels of vitamin C, it is suggested that the results obtained are due to the temperature within the thermal comfort zone for quail. The interaction (P 0.05) between treatments with added vitamin C and sources oil to lipid oxidation of fresh yolks during the periods analyzed. However, the yolks processed showed less oxidation when sunflower oil was used. The yolks of fresh eggs showed lower (P

Dietas ,Biodiesel ,Fibras - Abstract
_______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT Dry matter (DMD), crude protein (CPD) and Fiber (FD) digestibility and Digestible energy (DE), metabolizable energy (ME) of macauba meal (Acrocomia aculeata) were evaluated for growing pigs. ________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT Three experiments were conducted for evaluating the effect of the performance and commercial carcass yeld of swines bred in deep bedding. In experiment I, four hundred and eighty (480) swines were observed in relation to the performance between sex and cross breeding. Two cross reeding of two female strainsof Dalland female and PIC 412- Agroceres male and DanBred female with PIC 412 - Agroceres male were used. Significant evencts were observed in the sex relation to daly (CD) consume, feed: gain ratio (FG) and dietary efficiency (DE), and hiher man averages were verified when compared to females; however both, did not present significant differences for final weight (FW). Both strains and sex may be used for swine breeding in deep bedding rice straw bed in summer or winter in the West-Center region. In experiment II, to evaluate the carcass yeld (CY) on the cross breeding of Dalland female with PIC 412 - Agroceres male, between male and female, a group of 40 animals was used comming from experiment I , with average weight ranging from 23 to 105 Kg, and selected at random. Four backfat tickness (BT) and loin eye area (LEA) evaluations were carried out monthly in forty swines at the end of the experiment, between 10 and 11 rib and in he P2 height at 5 cm of the average line for both characteristics. It was evidenced that n0 significant effects of carcass yelds, for BT and LEA betweeen the cross breeding and between male and female, where they presented gain carcass yeld. The cross breeding and sex presented similar carcass yeld whem bred in deep breeding. The Ultrasound technique in real time can be used to estimate the backfast tickness of living swines. In experiment III, twenty (20) animals were used: 10 female and 10 male, coming from the cross breeding of Dalland female with males PIC 412 - Agroceres male. It was observed that the males presented greater averages for hot carcass weight (HCW), and the weight of the cold carcass (WCC). Females however demonstrated higher averages than males for ham yeld (HY). The carcass of female swine must be used for the market of cuts due to their bigger ham yeld. The BT measure of the living animal may be used to indicate the BT in carcass, wich represents an alternative for the producer to evaluate the animals in the farm.
