23. EXAFS and electrical studies of new narrow-gap semiconductors: InTe1−xSexand In1−xGaxTe

Abstract

The local environment of Ga, Se and Tl atoms in InTe-based solid solutions was studied by EXAFS technique. It was shown that all investigated atoms are substitutional impurities, which enter the In(1), Te and In(2) positions in the InTe structure, respectively. The electrical measurements revealed that In1−xGaxTe and InTe1−xSexsolid solutions become semiconductors at x>0.24 and >0.15, respectively.

25. Influence of Se, Pb and Mn impurities on the ferroelectric phase transition in gete studied by exafs

Abstract

AbstractEXAFS was used to study the local environment of Se, Pb and Mn impurity atoms in germanium telluride. It is found that the three impurity atoms do not occupy fixed on-center positions in GeTe and that the origin and magnitude of the displacements are different. It is shown that the rate of decrease of Tcwhen doping GeTe with these impurities is determined primarily by the size of impurity atoms and the type of chemical bond between impurity and main atoms of the crystal.

Abstract

This is a review of the properties of some photostimulable phosphors for luminescent image plates as applied to digital radiography. In particular, the properties of BaFBr:Eu and other barium fluorohalides that are useful for this application are considered. The main emphasis of the review is on the effect of the preparative conditions and the origin of the photostimulated luminescence and its features under VUV excitation.

Abstract

The luminescence excitation spectra and decay times of RbCl and KCaCl3crystals have been measured when doped with the low ionisation potential alkali ions Cs and Rb. The crystals exhibit fast and high efficiency luminesence associated with core-valence transitions.
