Between January 2001 and November 2009, players of Asian descent won nearly 30% of the 287 LPGA-sanctioned tournaments held during the period. By contrast, only 15 years ago (in 1995), an Asian player won only one of the 37 LPGA tournaments held that year (Ladies Professional Golf Association [LPGA], 2009). Clearly, a new generation of golfers has significantly increased the ethnic diversity of the LPGA and its tournament winners. This study investigated whether and how ethnic diversity in the LPGA has influenced the objectives and strategies of LPGA sponsorship decisions for the Anheuser-Busch Company (A-B). This research included 11 semi-structured interviews and two observations at A-B events as a participant. Multiple sources of evidence were collected and analyzed through categorical or 'thematic' analysis: interview transcripts, field notes, A-B business documents, and physical artifacts. 'Selling more beer,' 'opportunity,' and 'the best competition available' emerged as key themes in my findings. The increasing ethnic diversity of the LPGA through the ascendance of Asian players clearly impacted A-B and its sponsorship objectives and strategies. Issues of context, levels of privilege, and the contingency of cultural identifications are addressed in this study of South African group interview discourses in 1992 and 1999. A Critical/Interpretive perspective revealed that histories, socioeconomic positioning, and political policies differentially enabled and constrained the actions and views expressed by the participants. The persistence of whiteness ideologies and prevalence of enacted privilege emerged in the group interviews with participants identifying as 'white' and Afrikaner, with ambivalence becoming marked in the 1999 group discourse. Changes in the sociopolitical landscape are also reflected in the group discourses of participants identifying as 'black'; discourses in 1999 included overt resistance and exerting agency through critique of 'blacks' who were complicit and 'whites' who perpetuated race and class privilege. This paper presents an archaeological approach to the study of culture change and persistence in multi-ethnic communities through the study of daily practices and based on a crucial tenet of practice theory - that individuals will enact and construct their underlying organizational principles, worldviews, and social identities in the ordering of daily life. The study of habitual routines is undertaken in a broadly diachronic and comparative framework by examining daily practices from a multiscalar perspective. The approach is employed in a case study on the organization of daily life of interethnic households composed of Native Californian women and Native Alaskan men at the Russian colony of Fort Ross in northern California. Recognizing that different opportunities and choices existed for household members in this colonial setting, we explore how they constructed their own unique identities by examining the spatial layout of residential space, the ordering of domestic tasks, and the structure of trash disposal. An eight-week program involving four social work undergraduates from a Canadian university, and graduates from two New Delhi universities, reveals that experiential learning enhances cultural sensitivity. The participants worked together on various development projects encountered a positive attitudinal change towards cultural diversity. The outcome of their learning was measured by evaluating their reports, through tests on the attitude scale, and from direct observation.

Multiethnic heritage diversely influences individual lives as it associates them with different cultures and living patterns. Children of mixed parentage face many challenges as their identity is questionable. Cultural differences between ethnically diverse parents force the offspring to struggle to bridge a cultural gap both at home and at school. However, mixed heritage offers individuals the opportunity to comprehend and interpret the pros and cons of the cultures they belong to. The experiences of women from Latina and white background and of the author from Asian and white background are discussed.

A case study examines a discussion about the myth of multiculturalism taking place in a Moodle, a Course Management System (CMS). An international group participated in a six weeks asynchronous, collaborative learning experience where discussion included their identifying the intrinsic worth of the virtual environment for facilitating communication, and examining an online culture as a culture of silence. The paper offers an evaluation of the appropriateness of the term 'multiculturalism' for online asynchronous interaction and presents ethnopluralism as a better term to convey the diversity of cultures from which online communication takes place.
