Abstract Institutions actively seek global talent to foster innovation in the contemporary landscape of scientific research, education, and technological progress. The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the importance of international collaboration as researchers and academicians faced limitations in accessing labs and conducting research experiments. This study uses a research collaboration system to examine the relationship between organizational intellectual capital (Human and structural Capital) and team scientific and technological performance. Further, this study underscores the moderating role of top management support. Using a time-lagged study design, data were collected from 363 participants in academic and research institutions. The results show a positive relationship between organizational intellectual capital (Human and structural Capital) and team scientific and technological performance using a research collaboration system. Moreover, top management support positively moderates the study’s hypothesized relationships. The study’s findings contribute significantly to existing knowledge in this field, with implications for academia, researchers, and government focused on technology transmission, talent management, research creative collaboration, supporting innovation, scientific research, technological progress, and preparing for future challenges.

This study examines the effect of gamification on workplace thriving and employee well-being in the hospitality and tourism organizations, investigating the mediating effects of conflict resolution and working relationships while assessing the moderating influence of top management support. We conducted a time-lagged study with 451 employees from various hospitality and tourism organizations. Our research aimed to understand how gamification affects workplace thriving and employee well-being, with a focus on the mediating roles of conflict resolution and working relationships. We also examined the moderating effect of top management support. Our results demonstrate a positive link between gamification and workplace thriving, as well as a connection between gamification and employee well-being. Conflict resolution was found to mediate the relationship between gamification and workplace thriving, while working relationships mediated the connection between gamification and employee well-being. Additionally, top management support significantly moderated the relationships between gamification, conflict resolution, and workplace thriving.

In response to the increasing demands for 4G LTE and 5G smartphone applications, this study presents a compact and integrated prototype designed to cover sub-6 GHz and 5G mm-wave bands with high-frequency ratios. The proposed integrated design incorporates two multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) configurations: a $2\times2$ dual-band planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) MIMO for sub-6 GHz and an array of eight elements for mm-wave. Proximity placement (2.5 mm separation) of mm-wave elements on smartphone RIM achieves compact array size with optimal beamforming, coverage, and interference prevention. Utilizing a meandered patch and truncated ground, the proposed PIFA achieves a size of 37 mm $\times7$ mm $\times0.508$ mm with a Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate. Effective operation is demonstrated in sub-6 GHz bands (5G at 3.8 GHz, LTE band-46 at 5.4 GHz), complying with safety standards (specific absorption rate and power density) set by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection. Efficient performance extends to the 5G mm-wave band at 28 GHz, making it a promising choice for modern smartphone applications.

The demand for wireless communication in biomedical applications is increasing, thereby necessitating the development of reliable and efficient communication systems that can operate within the human body. This study introduces a novel dual-band two-port multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) implantable antenna for deep tissue purposes with an overall size of $10.8\times 5.6\times0.254$ mm3 = 15.3 mm3. The proposed MIMO antenna operates in the 915 and 2450 MHz industrial scientific medical bands with a measured bandwidth of 82.5, 148.5 MHz (port 1) and 130, 89 MHz (port 2), in addition peak realized gains of −32.15 and −22.2 dBi, respectively, are observed. High-measured port isolation (over 20 dB and 30 dB at 915 and 2450 MHz bands, respectively) was accomplished by means of meandered resonators. The determined specific absorption rate was within the safe limits. The MIMO performance factors, for instance, the envelope correlation coefficient and diversity gain, were also evaluated and determined to be in the acceptable range. According to our knowledge, this is the first dual-band implantable MIMO antenna developed for biomedical applications. The results from the simulations and measurements indicate that the developed antenna holds great promise for enabling effective communication within the human body for biomedical applications.

The increasing demand for wireless communication in wearable devices has led to the need for wearable antennas with a low profile, flexibility, robustness, low SAR, and acceptable on-body performance for WBAN applications. This study presents a low-profile dual-band wearable antenna for WBAN applications operating at 2.45 and 5.8 GHz. The antenna is integrated with a $3\times3$ artificial magnetic conductor array to reduce backward radiation and improve performance when worn on the human body. It is designed and fabricated on a 2 mm-thick flexible felt substrate with a relative permittivity of 1.3 and loss tangent of 0.044. A 0.17 mm-thick superconductive shieldit material is used as conductive material for the antenna and AMC array. The proposed antenna and AMC array have overall volumes of $0.41\lambda _{0} \times 0.45\lambda _{0} \times 0.016\lambda _{0}$ and $0.83\lambda _{0} \times 0.83\lambda _{0} \times 0.016\lambda _{0}$ , respectively. Results indicate that the AMC structure enhances the antenna’s gain, radiation efficiency, and bandwidth. The use of AMC reduced the SAR by greater than 98% for 1 and 10 g of human tissue at 2.45 and 5.8 GHz. The proposed design is suitable for WBAN applications due to its low profile, flexibility, robustness, low SAR, and acceptable on-body antenna gain and bandwidth.

Objective: Grounding on social learning theory (SLT), this study examines the effect of public leadership on project management effectiveness (PME). Further, this study examines the mediating role of goal clarity and moderating role of top management support. Methodology: Hierarchical linear regressions were used to investigate the relationships. An ultra-miniaturized implantable antenna for scalp and deep tissue implants operating in the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) frequency band is proposed in this communication. The proposed antenna has a compact size of only 4.422 mm3 ( $3.45\times 3.4\times0.377$ mm3). A meandered patch backed by a full ground plane was used to implement the proposed ultra-miniaturized antenna. The full ground plane does not allow backward energy flow, thus ensuring patient safety. The performance of the proposed antenna was evaluated in three different simulation environments: homogeneous skin phantom (HSP), skin implant multilayer phantom (SIMP), and muscle implant multilayer phantom (MIMP) models with and without a dummy implantable wireless device (IMD). These models were considered to evaluate the performance of the proposed antenna in more realistic complex human body environments. The proposed antenna demonstrated excellent impedance matching performance at the ISM band with a measured −10 dB impedance bandwidth of 260 MHz (2,249–2,511 MHz). The effects of coaxial cable on antenna performance were also studied. The proposed antenna exhibited a maximum measured peak gain of −26.54 dBi. Furthermore, the 1-g and 10-g specific absorption rate (SAR) values were calculated and satisfied the safety guidelines. A reliable communication link up to distances of 15, 4, and 1.3 m for bit rates of 7 kbps, 100 kbps, and 1 Mbps, respectively, can be established between the implantable device and external base station. Finally, a sensitivity analysis of the proposed antenna was conducted showing that the proposed implantable antenna can efficiently work under varying tissue conditions.

The study intends to investigate the impact of servant leadership on pro-social rule-breaking directly and through the intervening mechanism of psychological safety. More, the study also plans to investigate whether compassion at work moderates the effect of servant leadership on psychological safety and pro-social rule-breaking and the indirect intervening effect of psychological safety between servant leadership and pro-social rule-breaking. Responses were collected from 273 frontline public servants in Pakistan. Using social information processing theory, the results revealed that servant leadership positively influences pro-social rule-breaking and psychological safety and that psychological safety influences pro-social rule-breaking. Results also revealed that psychological safety acts as an intervening mechanism in the relationship between servant leadership and pro-social rule-breaking. Moreover, compassion at work significantly moderates the relationships of servant leadership with psychological safety and pro-social rule-breaking, and that compassion at work ultimately alters the size of the intervening effect of psychological safety between the connection of servant leadership and pro-social rule-breaking.

The fourth industrial revolution will be ushered in by future high technology, and as a result, the world will face new difficulties relating to people, the environment, and profitability. Accordingly, the competitive edge and long-term viability of businesses would depend on the knowledge workers who could overcome these excruciatingly difficult obstacles and have the knowledge and competency to influence the overall performance of any type of company. But managing knowledge workers falls under the purview of human resources, and only effective human resources tools, plans, and procedures can ensure the success of this task. One such tool, which has the capacity and capability to change the whole scenario in an organization's favor, is the human resource information system (HRIS). The purpose of this structured review is to provide insight into a field of HRM (i.e., HRIS) that has largely been neglected by other reviews of the literature and has only been briefly discussed by a small number of publications published in reputable, top-tier journals. A customized HRIS framework is the result of this structured literature review for managing knowledge and competence. The study presents the content analysis of 48 articles, systematically and purposefully selected for this literature review, published during the past three decades. The study has several implications for policymakers and HR practitioners.

Grounding on social exchange theory and using the creative process engagement as a lens, this article study investigates the influence of servant leadership on employee creativity. In addition, the research examines the role of knowledge sharing in the link between servant leadership and employee creativity. Time lag method was used to collect the data from 242 employees and 57 managers employed in Chinese publicly listed companies. The data collection was divided into two parts. The subordinates were asked to rate servant leadership, their creative process engagement behavior, and knowledge sharing. The supervisors were asked to rate their associates regarding employee creativity. According to the results, employees creative process engagement behaviors mediated servant leadership and employees’ creativity. In addition, the link between servant leadership and employees’ creativity was strengthened by knowledge sharing. A detailed model is also provided, highlighting the significance of leadership, work engagement, knowledge sharing in fostering employee creativity in the Asian environment.

This research explores the effect of servant leadership on prosocial rule-breaking (PSRB) and the mediating mechanism of public service motivation (PSM) between the association of servant leadership and PSRB. The said phenomenon is examined in the civil service context of Pakistan during the continuing crises of the COVID-19 pandemic, a situation where the traditional civil service policy and rule system has become highly complicated for passionate employees’ service performance and efficiency, and where servant leadership has received greater attention for inspiring the attitudinal and behavioral outcomes of frontline workers during the pandemic. Data were collected from 546 frontline workers of the corona relief tiger force. The findings of the study revealed that servant leadership has a significant effect on PSRB and PSM, and that PSM significantly promotes PSRB. The results also revealed that servant leadership has a significant impact on PSRB via engendering PSM.

In this study, an ultra–miniaturized implantable antenna based system with ultra-wideband characteristics in the industrial, scientific, and medical band (i.e., 2.4–2.48 GHz) is proposed for biomedical applications. A biocompatible and flexible liquid crystalline polymer material, Rogers ULTRALAM (tan $\delta =0.0025$ and $\varepsilon _{r} =2.9$ ), is employed as both the substrate and superstrate. The proposed antenna with a compact size ( $7\times 7\times0.2$ mm3) and a wide bandwidth (1533 MHz), was primarily designed for overcoming the detuning challenges that may occur owing to the electronic circuitry and irregularity as well as inhomogeneity of the human tissue environment. The miniaturization of this antenna was achieved by introducing a shorting pin and open-ended cuts in the ground plane, as well as in the radiating patch. The proposed antenna also yielded a higher gain and lower specific absorption rate (SAR). Through the link budget analysis, it was observed that 1 Mbps of data could be easily transmitted over a distance of 15 m. The simulated and in vitro measured results confirmed that compared to the recently reported antenna systems, our proposed ultra-wideband antenna based system could work more efficiently in the complex environment of the human body, thus establishing itself as an attractive candidate for biomedical applications.

The integration of sub-6-GHz and millimeter-wave (mm-wave) bands has become an important issue for future fifth generation (5G) wireless communications owing to their large frequency ratios. This paper proposes a compact-size dual-function antenna operating at 3.5 GHz and the mm-wave band (28 GHz) for 5G mobile applications using a frequency reconfigurability technique. The proposed antenna comprises a microstrip patch linked with a meandered radiating structure through a radio frequency PIN diode to achieve frequency reconfigurability between the two bands. A significant size reduction up to 15.3 mm × 7.2 mm × 0.508 mm for the proposed antenna was achieved using a meandered line structure and truncated ground plane. To enhance the functionality, 8 × 8 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) with possible long- and short-edge antenna placement configurations were demonstrated. The system exhibited satisfactory MIMO characteristics with wide decoupling -10 dB bandwidths of 7.4% and 4.8% at the low- and high-frequency bands, respectively, without utilizing any external decoupling structure. The simulated results were validated using fabricated prototypes, and good agreement was observed. Additionally, a safety analysis based on the specific absorption rate and power density at the prescribed frequency bands was conducted using a realistic human model, and the results were found to be in accordance with the safety guidelines. Owing to the integration of sub-6-GHz and mm-wave bands in a single compact structure with a large frequency ratio and good MIMO performance, the proposed antenna system is suitable for future 5G mobile handheld devices.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a record global crisis, particularly and extremely, for the service sectors. Due to extensive security measures, many service sector employees have to work remotely to maintain services. Drawing upon the conservation of resources theory, this research investigates the impact of servant leadership on the task performance of employees in virtual working environments during the COVID-19 crisis. Our theoretical model was tested using data collected from 335 individual employees in the education sector of Pakistan. SPSS version 26.0 was applied to find the hypothesized relationship between the study variables. To find the indirect mediating effect, we applied Model 4; for moderation, we applied Model 1; and for the moderation and mediation effect, we applied Model 7 of the Process Macro model of Hayes. The results of the study revealed that servant leadership is positively related to task performance in a virtual environment during crises. Furthermore, psychological empowerment partially mediates the relationship between servant leadership and task performance. Perceived supervisor support positively moderates the relationship between servant leadership and task performance. Moreover, the indirect effect of servant leadership on task performance via psychological empowerment is moderated by perceived supervisor support. The results provided guidance to the educational sector on how to lead effectively in times of crisis when service sector employees work predominantly in virtual environments. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.

This study presents a multi-band conformal antenna based endoscopic system for robust biotelemetry communications, which covers five important bands, including the MedRadio (401-406 MHz), Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) (433.1-434.8 MHz, 868-868.6 MHz, 902-928 MHz), and midfield (1200 MHz) bands. These bands are intended for functions such as biotelemetry, power saving, and wireless power transfer (WPT). The proposed antenna is printed on a flexible material Rogers ULTRALAM with a thickness of only 0.1 mm, which can be easily wrapped around the inner wall of a capsule. Owing to the insertion of the via and open-ended meandered slots in the radiator and in the ground plane, the footprints of the suggested antenna reduce considerably. In the flat form, the antenna is 57 mm3 in volume, whereas in the wrapped form, it is only 48.98 mm3 in volume. In a homogeneous muscle phantom, the proposed conformal antenna shows a 27.46% wider bandwidth at 402 MHz,whereas it shows a 13.2% and 5.42% bandwidth at 915 MHz and 1200 MHz, respectively. Furthermore, the specific absorption rate investigation at three resonance frequencies in various implanted locations shows compliance with the IEEE guidelines, thereby guaranteeing human safety. For measurements, a 3D capsule with batteries and circuitry is devised using a 3D printer, and the simulation results are experimentally validated in a box containing minced pork. Finally, the robustness of the communication link is confirmed through the link budget analysis at 1 Mb/s. The conformal design concept, omni-directional radiations, and multi-band functionality with a wider bandwidth in the MedRadio band of the suggested antenna will enhance the diversity of the capsule endoscope and be a good addition to the field of biotelemetry.

This study examined (1) the influence of ethical leadership on knowledge sharing, (2) the mediating role of psychological ownership, and (3) the moderating effect of professional commitment between ethical leadership (EL) and knowledge sharing (KS). Data were collected from 307 public listed Pakistani companies’ employees. Statistical analyses were performed by using SPSS Version 25 and AMOS version 22. The findings indicate a positive relationship between EL and KS behavior. Additionally, the impact of EL on KS was partially mediated by psychological ownership. Furthermore, professional commitment buffers the link between EL and KS. This study contributes to the body of knowledge in the field of leadership by confirming the role of ethics. The results show that ethical leaders develop employee attitudes (i.e., psychological ownership and professional commitment) that contribute to employee KS behavior. Ethical leaders create and encourage a learning culture to enhance organizational performance. This study adds to the little data on the positive impact of EL on listed company’s employees and addresses the gaps in previous studies on the role of EL in changing environments. In addition, professional commitment as a moderator has not been previously investigated with ethical leadership antecedents.

The purpose of this article is to present a mechanism through which the deviant work behaviors of employees can be dealt-with positively through corporate good deeds in the form of fulfilling social responsibilities. Based on the spirit of social identity theory and social exchange theory, the study explores the relationships of various deviant behaviors with corporate social responsibility (CSR) through the mediation mechanism of job satisfaction. Data were collected from 385 employees of 40 large manufacturing organizations involved in CSR activities operating in Pakistan. A self-report survey was conducted using a close-ended questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using SEM through Mplus 7. The results reveal that both internal and external CSR contribute to the reduced level of turnover intention, counterproductive work behaviors, and prohibitive voice behaviors. Job satisfaction fully mediates the relationship for internal CSR while partially mediates for external CSR. The study encourages the practitioners to avail approaches that convey the feelings of care, concern, and safety, representing internal CSR practices through diverse HR interventions, organizational support, and justice. They should also keep up the socially responsible behaviors aiming toward the larger community.

The cobalt(II) chloride N,N,N-pincer complexes, [2-{(2,4-(C15H13)2-6-FC6H2)N=CMe}-6-(ArN=CMe)C5H3N]CoCl2 (Ar = 2,6-Me2C6H3) (Co1), 2,6-Et2C6H3 (Co2), 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3 (Co3), 2,4,6-Me3C6H2 (Co4), 2,6-Et2-4-MeC6H2 (Co5), and [2,6-{(2,4-(C15H13)2-6-FC6H2)N=CMe}2C5H3N]CoCl2 (Co6), each containing at least one N-2,4-bis(dibenzosuberyl)-6-fluorophenyl group, were synthesized in good yield from their corresponding unsymmetrical (L1–L5) and symmetrical bis(imino)pyridines (L6). The molecular structures of Co1 and Co2 spotlighted their distorted square pyramidal geometries (τ5 value range: 0.23–0.29) and variations in steric hindrance offered by the dissimilar N-aryl groups. On activation with either MAO or MMAO, Co1–Co6 all displayed high activities for ethylene polymerization, with levels falling in the order: Co1 > Co4 > Co5 > Co2 > Co3 > Co6. Indeed, the least sterically hindered 2,6-dimethyl Co1 in combination with MAO exhibited a very high activity of 1.15 × 107 g PE mol−1 (Co) h−1 at the operating temperature of 70 °C, which dropped by only 15% at 80 °C and 43% at 90 °C. Vinyl-terminated polyethylenes of high linearity and narrow dispersity were generated by all catalysts, with the most sterically hindered, Co3 and Co6, producing the highest molecular weight polymers [Mw range: 30.26–33.90 kg mol−1 (Co3) and 42.90–43.92 kg mol−1 (Co6)]. In comparison with structurally related cobalt catalysts, it was evident that the presence of the N-2,4-bis(dibenzosuberyl)-6-fluorophenyl groups had a limited effect on catalytic activity but a marked effect on thermal stability.

Tourism activities developed in forested areas are a non-wood forest exploitation method that contributes to sustainability objectives, even more so when they consider the participation of the community and the government in favor of its conservation. Under this context, this article will review the different investigations that relate to indigenous tourism, the conservation of the ecosystem and what attributes are important when measuring them. To do this, a scientometric meta-analysis was carried out, which extracts a set of articles that strictly refer to the themes of indigenous tourism in forests, considering two databases integrated into the Core Collection Web of Science, the selection process of which is aligned with the guidelines of the PRISMA methodology, establishing, with the PICOS tool, the eligibility criteria of the articles, which were applied to a qualitative systematic review. Finally, a model for measuring attributes in levels on indigenous tourism stands out, which incorporates the limit between the number of visitors to the tourist destination; the incorporation of tourists guides the identification of the necessary infrastructure facilities for an adequate experience and environmental conservation.

Agroforestry plays a vital role in enhancing environmental sustainability, improving local economies, and reducing poverty through livelihood resilience. Several researchers have studied the importance of agroforestry, but little attention has been paid to livelihood resilience and local economic development in developing countries. This study aims to find the role of small-scale agroforestry in local economic development in the Shangla and Swat districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Province, Pakistan. In this study, a total of 350 quantitative household surveys, 12 qualitative household case studies, and interviews of experts are used. The ordinary least squares (OLS), linear regression model, household income, wealth index, and five capitals of sustainable livelihood approach (SLA) were used to measure livelihood resilience. Results show several significant findings which may apply on a larger scale and in other cities of Pakistan or other countries. First, it directly shows the association between agroforestry, resilience-building, and local economic development. Second, financial capital can be improved through agroforestry, which can improve other capital assets. Third, small-scale agroforestry brings non-financial benefits such as environmental sustainability, improved living standards, reduced soil erosion, and provided shade. Fourth, irrigation plays a vital role in building livelihood resilience and promoting agroforestry. Lastly, on-farm diversity can be improved through agroforestry. This research discusses several practical implications along with recommendations for future research.

Indicators measuring industrial international competitiveness are being continuously improved. However, so far, there is no unified perfect indicator to measure the level of international competitiveness of the industry. Based on the market share index (MS), trade competitiveness index (TC), revealed comparative advantage index (RCA), and relative trade advantage index (RTA), we constructed a comprehensive international competitiveness index by combining the variation coefficient and the entropy method. This study aims to compare and evaluate the international competitiveness of the wood processing industry (ICWPI) in Vietnam using a comprehensive international competitiveness index. The data is collected from the top 22 countries and the total import and export volume of the wood processing industry from the repository of official international trade statistics (UN Comtrade) database for 2001−2017. The results found that it is more accurate to use the combined variation coefficient and the entropy method to evaluate the international competitiveness of the wood processing industry, compared to using only a single index. The growth rate of international competitiveness of Vietnam increased rapidly from 2001 to 2007 but slowed from 2008 to 2017. Vietnam has the advantages of natural resources, low labor costs and favorable geographical location. However, the low productivity gains and added industry value have led to a gradual decline in the international competitiveness growth rate of Vietnam’s wood processing industry.

In this study, we assessed the impact of the Billion Trees Afforestation Program (BTAP) on the livelihood of local household in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KPK). BTAP is the largest ban-logging afforestation program in Pakistan, which aims to conserve natural forests, promoting rural livelihoods and reducing poverty. Primary data from 360 local inhabitants were collected and analyzed using descriptive and econometric methodologies that include ordered logit model and ordinary least squares (OLS) respectively. In specific, a wealth index, household income, and five assets of sustainable livelihood have been considered to measure the impact of BTAP. We found that there is a strong and positive contribution of BTAP to the improvement of a rural community’s livelihood. Results showed that BTAP based households earn 4% more income and possess around 35% more assets. These findings suggest that BTAP has considerable effect on increase in livelihood assets. This study continues the discussion with several practical implications of this along with recommendations for future research.

In recent decades, the terrestrial ecosystem in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KPK), Pakistan, has undergone tremendous destruction. To restore environmental conditions, the government implemented the Billion Tree Afforestation Program (BTAP), with a high target to impact multidimensional aspects of the terrestrial ecosystem. The government claims that it is local residents who have benefited the most from the BTAP. Hence, the objective of this research was to examine the socioeconomic impact and local rural perception of the BTAP in three districts of KPK. Primary data were collected from 406 households. Fundamental orientation theory was used to assess the social impacts of the BTAP, while cost−benefit analysis was applied to examine its economic impact. The results show that the overall social impacts of the BTAP are satisfactory and beneficial, increasing social sustainability by 69% between 2014 and 2018. Additionally, based on the cost−benefit analysis and perception-based analysis, it was found that the BTAP positively affects the economic conditions of rural households. The community livelihood increased during the program, with a total net income of 6.9 million USD in the three districts of KPK. It is concluded that the majority of respondents have benefited from participation in the BTAP. The sustainability of rural livelihood is one of the main concerns related to the establishment of the BTAP. Effort is needed by the government and other parties to both increase rural household income and to protect the environment.

Five examples of unsymmetrical 2-(2,4-bis(dibenzocycloheptyl)-6-methylphenyl- imino)ethyl)-6-(1-(arylyimino)ethyl)pyridine derivatives (aryl = 2,6-Me2C6H3 in L1; 2,6-Et2C6H3 in L2; 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3 in L3; 2,4,6-Me3C6H2 in L4 and 2,6-Et2-4-MeC6H2 in L5) were prepared and characterized. Treatment with CoCl2 offered the corresponding cobalt precatalysts Co1−Co5, which were characterized by FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy as well as elemental analysis. The molecular structures of Co3 and Co4 determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction revealed distorted square pyramidal geometries with τ5 values of 0.052−0.215. Activated with either MAO or MMAO, the precatalysts displayed high activities in ethylene polymerization, where Co1 with the least bulky substituents exhibited a peak activity of 1.00 × 107 g PE mol−1 (Co) h−1 at 60 °C. With MAO as a cocatalyst, the activity was reduced only by one order of magnitude at 90 °C, which implies thermally stable active sites. The polymerization product was highly linear polyethylene with vinyl end groups. Co3 with the most sterically hindered active sites was capable of generating polyethylene of high molecular weight, reaching 6.46 × 105 g mol−1. Furthermore, high melting point and unimodal molecular weight distribution were observed in the resulting polyethylene. It must be stressed that the thermal stability of the catalyst and the molecular weight of the obtained polyethylene attain the highest values reported for the unsymmetrical 2,6-bis(imino)pyridylcobalt (II) chloride precatalysts.
