Waqf in history is an interesting topic to discuss. By knowing the history related to waqf, a Muslim can develop broader perceptions of waqf. This study aims to determine the roles of waqf in the past to be studied and furthermore it is hoped that it can be a recommendation in managing waqf both in terms of managers and regulators. The method used in this study is a systematic literature review. The data used are articles on the Web of Science (WoS). WoS is the oldest, most widely used, and authoritative database of research publications and citations in the world. The topic keywords used in the search were “Waqf in History”, “Waqf Histories”, and “Waqf and Centuries”. The author selected 23 articles that had been screened with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Furthermore, the author divides the 23 articles into 4 major topics, namely: the role of waqf, accounting and waqf supervision, waqf regulations and rules, and waqf risks.

An independent defense capability is an aspiration and a crucial need for nations. Achieving this will ensure the state’s independence from the possible influence of weapon-producing states. To attain this goal, countries worldwide, including those in the ASEAN region, have endeavored to advance their weapon technologies through national defense industries. The ASEAN Defense Industrial Collaboration (ADIC), established in 2011, was conceived to emulate the success of European consortiums in producing diverse weapon technologies. Regrettably, after 11 years, ADIC has not produced or initiated the development of any weapon technology. The analysis in this article is conducted by synthesizing the perspectives of four key prerequisites for the success of defense industry cooperation: constructivist, institutionalist, liberal, and realist. The research method employed in this article is Causal Process Tracing (CPT), specifically aimed at identifying the prerequisites that lead to specific events. This article concludes that the failure of ADIC is attributed to five factors. Firstly, diverse economic systems among ADIC members create challenges. Secondly, equivalent defense industry capacities lead to competition and hinder collaboration. Thirdly, low spill-over effects from successful cooperation in other sectors impede progress. Fourthly, persistent distrust among ADIC member countries poses a barrier. Lastly, the absence of a defense alliance results in a strong consideration of relative gains. In essence, these factors underscore the complexity and challenges in achieving effective international defense collaboration.

Sugarcane has been grown all around the world to meet sugar demands for industrial sector. The current sugar recovery percentage in sugarcane cultivars is dismally low which demands scientific efforts for improvements. Multiple approaches were adopted to enhance sugar contents in commercial sugarcane plants in contrast to conventional plant breeding methods. The exploitation of biotechnological methods and exploration of isomaltulose synthetic genes presented a promising solution to increase the existing low level of sugar recovery percentage in Saccharum officinarum L. Isomaltulose synthase gene II was employed and integrated into plant expression vector driven under the leaf and stem specific promoters terminated by nopaline synthase gene in a cloning strategy shown in the present study. Three gene constructs were developed in various combinations driven under promoters Zea mays ubiquitin and Cestrum Yellow Leaf Curl virus in the single and double combined stacked system. The transformation was executed in multiple formats with single transformed events, double promoter transformation events and triple construct stacked promoters in sugarcane induced calli via the particle gene gun. The transformation of ImSyGII in sugarcane genotype HSF-240 was confirmed by molecular gene analysis while expression quantification was determined through Real Time PCR. Furthermore, HPLC was also done to harvest the increased amounts of Isomaltulose in transgenic sugarcane juice. The present work upheld the enhanced ImSyGII expression in leaves owing to the exploitation of ubiquitin, while the Cestrum Yellow Leaf Curl virus promoter enhanced gene expression in sugarcane stems. The employment of three gene constructs collectively produced elite sugar lines producing more than 78% enhancements in whole sugar recovery percentage. The mature internode proved highly efficient and receptive regarding the production of isomaltulose. Quantifications and sugar contents evaluations upheld an increased Brix ratio of transgenic sugarcane lines than control lines.

Abstract In the current age of chemical science, chemical graph theory has significantly advanced our understanding of the characteristics of chemical compounds. To simulate the mathematical, chemical, and physical aspects of networks, a topological index, a numerical measure obtained from the graph of a chemical network, employed. Recent work has explored the topological properties of boron oxide using chemical graph theory. In this work, we conduct a Pearson correlation analysis of boron oxide to assess the correlations between the Van and S indices and entropy metrics. We analyze the Pearson correlation coefficients between the entropy values and the calculated indices using a heatmap. In this article, a significant positive correlation between the Van, and S indices, and entropy values, which is represented by the heatmap of the strong linear correlations. To avoid duplication, a dimensionality reduction technique should be used for highly connected variables. Additionally, this study gives a detailed explanation of the link between the indices and entropy, which will form the basis of further statistical investigations.

Abstract This work uses rational curve fitting models to investigate the complex link between topological indices and entropy metrics in calcium hydroxide $$(Ca(OH)_{2})$$ ( C a ( O H ) 2 ) networks. Entropy measurements shed light on the complexity and disorder of these networks, whereas topological indices are essential instruments for comprehending the structural characteristics of chemical substances. Our goal is to find new patterns and connections by merging these two fields, improving materials science’s prediction capacity. We calculate many topological indices, such as the Randic, Balaban, and Zagreb indices, and examine the relationship between them and entropy measurements obtained from $$(Ca(OH)_{2})$$ ( C a ( O H ) 2 ) structural arrangement.

Abstract The construction sector accounts for around 95% of the commercial usage of silicon dioxide (sand), for example, in the making of concrete. There are several uses for quartz, however in order to get a purer material, chemical processing is needed. Graph theory proved to be very beneficial for other research, especially in the applied sciences. In particular, graph theory has greatly influenced the field of chemistry. To do this, a transformation is needed to produce a graph with the vertices representing the atoms in the chemical compound and the edges indicating the bonds between the atoms. This graph then represents a chemical network or structure. In a graph, a vertex’s valency (or degree) is determined by the number of edges that are incident to it. The entropy of a probability quantifies a system’s level of uncertainty. In this article, we compute Zagreb-type indices and then compute the entropy measure. In order to evaluate the relevance of each kind, this article builds several edge degree-based entropies that link to the indices and establish how to adjust them. We also create the logarithmic regression model between indices and entropy.

Abstract The resilience of tomato plants under different cultivation environments, particularly saline and non-saline conditions, was investigated by applying various treatments, including 0.5% Ascorbic Acid (AsA) and 1% Sulphur-treated Biochar (BS). The study evaluated parameters such as fruit length, diameter, yield per plant and pot, Total Soluble Solids (TSS) content, chlorophyll content, electrolyte leakage, enzyme activities (Superoxide Dismutase - SOD, Peroxidase - POD, Catalase - CAT), and nutrient content (Nitrogen - N%, Phosphorus - P%, Potassium - K%). Under saline conditions, significant enhancements were observed in fruit characteristics and yield metrics with the application of AsA and BS individually, with the combined treatment yielding the most substantial improvements. Notably, AsA and BS treatments exhibited varying effects on TSS levels, chlorophyll content, electrolyte leakage, and enzyme activities, with the combination treatment consistently demonstrating superior outcomes. Additionally, nutrient content analysis revealed notable increases, particularly under non-saline conditions, with the combined treatment showcasing the most significant enhancements. Overall, the study underscores the potential of AsA and BS treatments in promoting tomato resilience, offering insights into their synergistic effects on multiple physiological and biochemical parameters crucial for plant growth and productivity.

Abstract Lahore is among the most important historical cities in Pakistan, and many cultural heritage structures, such as Shalamar Gardens and Lahore Fort, which are recognised as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, are located there. The rapid increase in transit operations and infrastructure development in Lahore can increase the vulnerability of nearby heritage structures to ground-borne vibrations. In this study, a vibration vulnerability assessment of the heritage structures present in Lahore was performed with the help of the framework provided by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), USA. A remote survey was carried out to gather valuable information regarding the distance between the heritage structures and potential vibrational sources, as well as the latitude and longitude of the heritage structures, via the web-based mapping tool Google Earth. A vibration vulnerability map of heritage structures was developed on the basis of a vibration vulnerability assessment to make it convenient for policymakers to visualise the present state of heritage structures with respect to vibration vulnerability. The performed vibration vulnerability assessment was validated by experimentally measuring vibrations at the Buddha’s Tomb (Buddha Ka Awa) heritage structure. The study revealed that 17% of the heritage structures present in Lahore are vulnerable to vibrations at present, with potential vibrational sources such as road traffic, metro trains, and rail traffic. The vibration vulnerability assessment revealed that 72% of the vibrationally vulnerable heritage structures in Lahore are most influenced by vibrations from road traffic. The results of this study can aid policymakers in creating intervention packages for vibrationally vulnerable heritage structures in Lahore in relation to their respective needs, which will make it possible to achieve the sustainable conservation of heritage structures.

Wheat yellow rust disease poses a significant threat to global wheat yield and grain quality. Early detection of this disease will help to minimize the loss caused by its effects. Existing models work well on images taken in a controlled environment, whereas a uniform background is placed behind the leaf, but these models fail to produce good results in natural settings. Previous research also involves manual interventions in the pipeline to achieve good classification results such as cropping the images, using uniform backgrounds, etc. These systems are not practical to use in natural environments where there will be a lot of background noise to the image and manual cropping becomes an extra step for the farmer. Moreover, the unavailability of the dataset in which images of leaves are taken in a natural setting became another challenge. In this research, a dataset is curated and leaves are annotated for object detection, object segmentation further the leaves are classified into 3 classes ie healthy, resistant, and susceptible. A novel unsupervised image rotation algorithm is proposed that takes input from YOLOv8 to align the leave in such a way that maximum background can be removed by a rectangular bounding box . Then the comparison between multiple state-of-the-art segmentation models ie. UNET, Segment-Anything (SAM), Segnet, LinkNet, PSPNet, FPN, Deep-Labv3+ (Xception), and DeepLabv3+ (Mo-bileNet) has shown that UNET has outperformed all the other segmentation models with an IOU score of 0.9563. Lastly for classification, the performance of multiple convolution neural networks ie. VGG16, Resnet 101(v2), Xception, Mo-bileNetV2, and Transformer-based models ie. Swin trans-former and MobileVit have been compared. Swin transformer has outperformed the state-of-the-art CNN models with an accuracy of 95.8%. This paper proposes a complete robust pipeline that can be deployed in natural environment and does not need any manual intervention to produce good results. This research shows that good localization of leaves and removal of unwanted background noise at the earliest stage of the pipeline will assist the segmentation model to effectively segment the leaf from the background which will enable classification models to achieve high classification accuracy, even when dealing with very small datasets.

Implementing double-J (DJ) stents in urological practice helps to alleviate kidney and ureteral obstruction. The primary causes of neglecting a DJ stent typically involve inadequate counseling and poor patient compliance. Encrustations of neglected DJ stents present a significant challenge. This study aims to report on a neglected DJ stent that persisted for 3 years, presenting as giant bladder and ureteral stones. We report on a 35-year-old male with chief complaints of discomfort in the suprapubic and left flank, along with concurrent micturition leakage. He had a DJ stent implanted to treat his ureteral stone 3 years ago. Advanced imaging showed a left distal ureteral stone (0.7×0.8×1.9 cm), extensive hydronephrosis and hydroureter, and a bladder stone (4.7×3.9×3.2 cm). A left ureterorenoscopy (URS) was done to remove a stone from the end of the ureter, half of a DJ stent and a bladder calculus using cystolitholapaxy. However, the patient underwent a second surgery owing to a residual bladder stone. The patient was discharged from the hospital without any symptoms. A foreign object in the urinary tract, like a DJ stent, may create secondary calculi. Endoscopic treatment could improve the efficacy of treating large bladder stones simultaneously with ureteral stones. As a measure to prevent DJ stent-related complications, it is also essential for healthcare professionals to provide information and follow-up care to patients regarding the use of DJ stents.

Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) is a group of disorders characterized by end-organ resistance to parathyroid hormone (PTH), resulting in high serum PTH, low calcium, and high phosphate levels. Among its 5 subtypes, PHP type 1a is the most common and leads to hereditary osteodystrophy, marked by short stature, short metacarpals, and electrolyte abnormalities such as hyperphosphatemia and hypocalcemia, which can cause tetany and seizures. Rarely, PHP patients can experience pathological fractures of long bones. This report discusses a 22-year-old female with PHP who presented with myoclonic seizures and bilateral hip fractures. Initial symptoms included fits, flank pain, and later, leg weakness. Diagnosis was based on clinical history, elevated serum PTH, low calcium, high phosphate, bilateral cataracts, hypothyroidism, basal ganglia calcification, and family history. Treatment began with IV calcium, followed by alfacalcidol, oral calcium, and antibiotics, leading to symptom remission. Hip fractures were managed with a POP cast and later closed reduction. The patient was discharged with calcium and 1,25 dihydroxy Vitamin D supplementation and scheduled for regular follow-up.

This study focuses on revealing closed-form solutions for traveling waves in the nonlinear dynamical model of dust-acoustic waves in multispecies of dusty plasma. Plasma consists of cold dust grains, along with isothermal electrons and positive ions for balance. Fluid equations simplify through reductive perturbation, yielding the modified Korteweg–de Vries equation for analyzing weak dust-acoustic solitons. Applying this method to a specific scenario involving negatively charged dust grains and protons with all electrons bound to the dust grains shows support for rarefactive supersonic solitons, contrasting with typical compressive ion-acoustic solitons. Introducing streaming reveals a subtle soliton amplitude decrease. Using the Generalized exp(-S(φ)) expansion method effectively derives various soliton solutions, including kink, anti-kink, singular, hyperbolic functions, and diverse solitary waves. Furthermore, the equation’s dynamic behaviors are explored through equilibrium point bifurcations. Employing a Galilean transformation, the model is transformed into a planar dynamical system, and qualitative inspection is performed. Phase portraits depict bifurcation outcomes. Our methodology is significant for tackling the novel problem and applying previously untested approaches in this context, resulting in the development of multiple exact and novel optical soliton solutions. This highlights the efficiency and broad application of our new strategy to addressing nonlinear challenges in astrophysics, laboratories, space, and technology.

In order to comprehend the dynamics of disease propagation within a society, mathematical formulations are essential. Examining how hand contamination might induce pink eye infection (conjunctivitis virus) and treating it early with immunizations is the goal of this research. An immune system-boosting mathematical model is established, and it is converted to a fractional order model by using the Caputo fractional operator. To find the steady position of a recently constructed system SEVIR, a qualitative and quantitative analysis is conducted. Reliable bounded findings are ensured by assessing the generated system’s boundedness, positivity, and uniqueness all crucial characteristics of epidemic models. The proposed non-linear system is verified to be present, and a unique solution is shown using fixed-point theorems to validate reliable solutions. Reproductive number with sensitivity analysis of parameters are also determined to verify the rate of spread and see how rate of change of each parameter is most sensitive. Using Lyapunov first derivative functions, the system is examined for local and global stability in order to evaluate the overall effect of early detection strategies and vaccination programs for people with weakened immune systems. Caputo operator is utilized for reliable solution using power law kernel with different fractional values for continuous monitoring of spread of pink eyes infection. Simulations have been made to see the real behavior and effects of pink eyes (conjunctivitis virus) infection to verify that the low immune individuals become strengthen due to early detection and vaccination combine measures. Also identify the true behavior for the control of pink eyes (conjunctivitis virus) infection after early detection and treatment as well as vaccination due to strong immune system of the patients. Investigating the transmission and management of diseases, as well as creating novel control techniques based on our validated findings to stop the conjunctivitis virus from spreading, would be aided by this kind of research.

The growing global population presents a significant challenge to ensuring food security, further compounded by the increasing threat of salinity to agricultural productivity. Wheat, a major staple food providing 20% of the total caloric intake for humans, is susceptible to salinity stress. Developing new salt-tolerant wheat cultivars using wheat breeding techniques and genetic modifications is crucial to addressing this issue while ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of wheat production systems within the prevailing climate trend. This review overviews the current landscape in this field and explores key mechanisms and associated genetic traits that warrant attention within breeding programs. We contend that traditional approaches to breeding wheat for Na+ exclusion have limited applicability across varying soil salinity levels, rendering them inefficient. Moreover, we question current phenotyping approaches, advocating for a shift from whole-plant assessments to cell-based phenotyping platforms. Finally, we propose a broader use of wild wheat relatives and various breeding strategies to tap into their germplasm pool for inclusion in wheat breeding programs.

This study examined the mechanical characteristics of 3D printed concrete utilized in sculpture materials, with an emphasis on the incorporation of wood fibers. A series of experiments were conducted to probe into the wood fiber-reinforced 3D printed concrete sculpture materials. Through mechanical and microscopic examinations, the role of flexible fibers in enhancing the bearing capacity of concrete 3D printed components was investigated. The results indicated that an optimal amount of wood fiber addition significantly improved the mechanical properties of the concrete sculpture materials. At the interlayer interface, wood fibers exhibited elongation, thereby mitigating the specimen damage. However, beyond a certain threshold, the mechanical properties tended to decline due to either the agglomeration or direct dislodgment of wood fibers at the interlayer interface, which resulted in an absence of notable deformation. This scenario thereby failed to impede crack propagation. Hydrophobic performance assays revealed an elevation in surface hydrophobicity of 3D printed concrete sculpture materials with the inclusion of wood fibers. Yet, an excessive amount of wood fibers caused a gradual reduction in the contact angle, implying a decrease in the hydrophobicity of the material surface.

Abstract This research addresses the critical need to optimize the Energy Efficiency (EE) for Ultra-Dense HetNets amid the ever-increasing demands for high-speed data networks. The rapid increase in high-speed devices highlights the urgent necessity for a transformative change in upcoming 5G cellular networks. According to Ericsson's 2022 report, mobile data traffic volume is expected to double by 2027, with mobile video traffic anticipated to rise by nearly 30% each year. In response to these challenges, researchers have identified essential technologies that facilitate 5G networks, including massive Multiple-input-Multiple-output (m-MIMO) systems and HetNets. Although both promise enhanced coverage and throughput, HetNets emerges as a cost-effective solution, surpassing m-MIMO in implementation cost and coverage. However, achieving maximum EE in HetNets necessitates careful consideration of various constraints, including delay, coverage probability, and Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) thresholds. This research marks a significant milestone in adopting the Distributed Dynamic Opportunistic Sleep Strategy (D-DOSS) approach. The D-DOSS method organizes small clusters throughout the network and evaluates key Quality of Service (QoS) parameters including Energy Utilization Efficiency (EUE), Coverage Probability, Data Throughput, and Success Probability using Monte Carlo simulations. This research analyzes Distributed Sleep (DS) and Centralized Schemes (CS) concerning given QoS parameters. While DS methodologies often exhibit performance trade-offs compared to CS, they provide significant advantages in terms of ease of implementation and management. CS, though representing the most commonly used method in ultra-dense HetNets involves high computational costs that complicate its management. By integrating the D-DOSS and addressing various constraints, this research not only advances HetNet technologies but also makes a significant contribution to optimizing EE while preserving network performance and QoS. The innovative D-DOSS approach offers a promising solution to the challenges of energy efficiency in wireless communication networks and paves the way for future advancements in HetNet deployments. The results and analysis show that D-DOSS effectively addresses the limitations of DS and outperforms existing CS techniques.

Abstract In this work, we solve a system of fractional differential equations utilizing a Mittag-Leffler type kernel through a fractal fractional operator with two fractal and fractional orders. A six-chamber model with a single source of chlamydia is studied using the concept of fractal fractional derivatives with nonsingular and nonlocal fading memory. The fractal fractional model of the Chlamydia system can be solved by using the characteristics of a non-decreasing and compact mapping. A suggested model with the Lipschitz criteria and linear growth is studied both qualitatively and quantitatively, taking into account boundedness, uniqueness, and positive solutions at equilibrium points with Leray-Schauder results under time scale concepts. We examined the framework of local and global stability and insight into Lyapunov function properties for the infectious disease model. Chaos Control will employ the regulate for linear responses approach to stabilize the system following its equilibrium points. This will take into consideration a fractional order framework with a managed design, where solutions are bounded in the feasible domain and have a greater impact at the lower minimum infectious rate. To illustrate the implications of fractional and fractal dimensions with varying interest rate values through simulations with Newton’s polynomial method under the Mittag-Lefller kernel. Additionally, a comparative analysis of results is also derived by employing power and exponential decay kernels at various fractional orders.

Abstract The quantile estimates of extreme wind speed are needed for various areas of interest using regional frequency analysis (RFA) and extreme value theory. These calculations are crucial for the coding of wind speed. The data was taken from the NASA official website at a 10-meter distance and measured in meters per second (m/s). RFA of annual maximum wind speed (AMWS) using L-moments is performed utilizing annual maximum wind speed data from sixteen sites (16) in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. There are no sites that are found to be discordant. The wards method is used to construct a homogenous region and make two homogenous regions from 16 sites. The heterogeneity test justifies that both clusters are homogeneous. The most appropriate probability distribution from the Generalized Normal (GNO), Generalized Logistic (GLO), Pearson Type-3 (P3), Generalized Pareto (GPA), and Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) distributions is chosen to calculate regional quantiles. According to the L-moments diagram and Z statistics, the GEV for Cluster- Ι and GLO for Cluster- ΙΙ are the best suggestions from the others. Both clusters’ robustness is measured utilizing relative bias (RB) and relative root mean square error (RRMSE). Overall, GEV distribution is fit for cluster-Ι, and the GLO distribution is fit for cluster-ΙΙ. Utilizing the site mean and median as index parameters, we can also find at-site quantiles from regional quantiles. The study’s quantile estimates can be employed in codified structural designs with policy consequences.

SnCoNi catalysts were synthesized via electrodeposition, with and without citric acid, to assess their ethanol electrooxidation performance. The additive-free catalyst exhibited superior properties, including lower charge transfer resistance and a smaller Tafel slope compared to the citric acid-modified catalyst. Chronoamperometry testing further revealed better electrochemical stability for the additive-free catalyst, with less current loss over time. Cyclic voltammetry confirmed the enhanced ethanol oxidation activity with a relatively high current density. The improved performance is attributed to better mass transport, active site exposure, and the synergistic effects of Sn, Co, and Ni in the additive-free catalyst, making it more efficient for ethanol electrooxidation. These findings suggest that the additive-free catalyst exhibits more favorable properties for ethanol electrooxidation compared to its citric acid-modified counterpart.

Abstract Background Dirigent (DIR) genes play a key role in the development of organic products in plants. They confer conformational influence on processes that lack stereoselectivity and regioselectivity through processes that are mostly understood. They are required to produce lignans, which are a unique and widely distributed family of plant secondary metabolites with intriguing pharmacological characteristics and potential role in plant development. DIR genes are implicated in the process of lignification and protect plants from environmental stresses, including biotic and abiotic stresses. Nevertheless, no research has been performed on the DIR gene family in Solanum lycopersicum. This study provides detailed information on the DIR gene family in S. lycopersicum. Methods and results The conserved domain analysis, phylogenetic analysis, evolutionary adaptation, cis-acting elements, proteomic analysis, signal peptide detection, transmembrane potential analysis, sequence identity and similarity analysis, gene assembly, genomic localization, duplication of gene analysis, and evolutionary linkage of 31 potential DIR genes were studied. All these analyses provide a deep understanding of DIR genes in the S. lycopersicum genome that will provide a useful reference for further functional analysis of the DIR genes in S. lycopersicum. Conclusion This research provides an in-depth and comprehensive explanation of the detailed process and structural characterization of DIR genes in the genome of S. lycopersicum, laying the groundwork for future plant genetic engineering and crop development exploration. This work will provide valuable information for identifying DIR genes in higher plants and support future research on the DIR gene family.

Abstract Melatonin is a bioactive molecule with an important role in plants responding to various abiotic and biotic stresses. This study aims to determine the role of melatonin in rice under salt stress. This study used a factorial completely randomized design. The first factor was local rice varieties (IR64 and Silaun), and the second factor was plant treatments (control, 1 µM melatonin, 150 mM NaCl, 150 mM NaCl + 1µM melatonin). This study shows that exogenous melatonin can increase plant growth, such as plant height, root length, stem length, leaf length, leaf area, and plant biomass under salt stress compared to treatment without melatonin. Exogenous melatonin can increase the total chlorophyll content, relative water content, and proline content, reduce the total sodium content, and increase potassium absorption under conditions of salinity stress. Melatonin is also able to scavenge ROS in plants, resulted the decrease in ROS and MDA content. In terms of gene expression, OsAPX1 and cytosolic APX exhibited the highest expression in IR64 under combined salt and melatonin treatment, while GPOD, Mn-SOD, and Cu/Zn-SOD were upregulated under various conditions in both varieties. Additionally, OsLEA showed high expression in both varieties under control conditions, and CAT was significantly upregulated under salt stress. Our findings indicate that exogenous melatonin has the potential to enhance various factors under salt stress and helping in the recovery of rice plants from sodium (Na+) damage.

Abstract The extreme conditions of the deep-sea environment, including limited light, low oxygen levels, high pressure, and nutrient scarcity, create a natural habitat for deep-sea bacteria. These remarkable microorganisms have developed unique strategies to survive and adapt to their surroundings. However, research on the diversity of deep-sea bacteria, both culture-dependent and culture-independent, in Indonesian waters remains insufficient. This study focused on exploring the biodiversity of deep-sea bacteria, specifically in the Makassar and Lombok Strait, the main Indonesian throughflow pathway characterized by relatively fertile water, which serves as an important deep-sea region. High-throughput DNA sequencing of full-length 16S rRNA was employed to construct a genomic database. The results of the bioinformatic analysis revealed that two stations, 48 and 50 (Makassar Strait), exhibited a more similar community structure of deep-sea bacteria than did station 33 (Lombok Strait). Among the predominant phyla found at a depth of 1000 m, the top ten were Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Actinobacteria, Planctomycetes, Acidobacteria, Nitrospinae, Verrucomicrobia, Candidatus Melainabacteria, and Cyanobacteria. Furthermore, the genera Colwellia, Moritella, Candidatus Pelagibacter, Alteromonas, and Psychrobacter consistently appeared at all three stations, albeit with varying relative abundance values. These bacterial genera share common characteristics, such as psychrophilic, halophilic, and piezophilic tendencies, and are commonly found in deep-sea ecosystem. The environmental conditions at a depth of 1000 m were relatively stable, with an average pressure 10 MPa, temperature 4.68 °C, salinity 34.58 PSU, pH 8.06, chlorophyll-a 0.29 µg/L, nitrate 3.19 µmol/L, phosphate 6.32 µmol/L and dissolved oxygen (DO) 2.90 mg/L. The bacterial community structures at the three sampling stations located at the same depth (1000 m) exhibited similarities, as indicated by the closely aligned similarity index values.

Abstract Cancer detection poses a significant challenge for researchers and clinical experts due to its status as the leading cause of global mortality. Early detection is crucial, but traditional cancer detection methods often rely on invasive procedures and time-consuming analyses, creating a demand for more efficient and accurate solutions. This paper addresses these challenges by utilizing automated cancer detection through AI-based techniques, specifically focusing on deep learning models. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), including DenseNet121, DenseNet201, Xception, InceptionV3, MobileNetV2, NASNetLarge, NASNetMobile, InceptionResNetV2, VGG19, and ResNet152V2, are evaluated on image datasets for seven types of cancer: brain, oral, breast, kidney, Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, lung and colon, and cervical cancer. Initially, images undergo segmentation techniques, proceeded by contour feature extraction where parameters such as perimeter, area, and epsilon are computed. The models are rigorously evaluated, with DenseNet121 achieving the highest validation accuracy as 99.94%, 0.0017 as loss, and the lowest Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) values as 0.036056 for training and 0.045826 for validation. These results revealed the capability of AI-based techniques in improving cancer detection accuracy, with DenseNet121 emerging as the most effective model in this study.

Abstract This emerging infectious disease poses one of the most severe threats to public health in these locations, but there are not many reliable therapies yet. In this work, we developed the Ebola virus dynamics and control factors epidemic model with a piecewise hybrid fractional Operator in time scale measure insight of Mittag–Leffler kernel. Patterns and structures that repeat at various scales are the focus of fractal analysis, which has applications in complex systems such as biological ones. Both qualitatively and statistically, a proposed model with the Lipschitz criteria and linear growth is examined, considering positive solutions, boundedness, and uniqueness at equilibrium points with Leray-Schauder results under time scale ideas. The regulation for linear responses approach will be used by Chaos Control to stabilize the system after its equilibrium points. A fractional-order framework with a controlled design will be considered, where solutions are bounded in the feasible domain of relations of different compartments. Ulam–Hyers stability results in the solution are treated when function (constant or rising) for the component of qualitative inquiry in generalized form. The dynamical behaviors of the suggested model are discussed with the Newton polynomial approach used to implement on model in the sense of classical piecewise and Mittag–Leffler kernel at different fractional order values. The model shows that solutions are stable and confined within a feasible range, ensuring reliability. Through detailed simulations, it effectively captures how different interventions and infection rates influence Ebola spread. This fractional-order model enhances understanding of Ebola transmission, providing a strong basis for predicting outbreaks and planning effective control measures, with practical applications for analyzing real-world data.

Abstract Background Psychological Insulin Resistance (PIR) and negative perceptions regarding insulin treatment are noteworthy challenges in T2DM management, which hinder the timely initiation of insulin treatment. To get past these obstacles a reliable tool is required to evaluate patients’ perspectives on insulin administration. Our study aims to conduct a comprehensive systematic review to evaluate the validity and reliability of different validation tests used in the psychometric validation of the ITAS in T2DM patients. Methods A literature search was carried out, using PubMed, Google Scholar, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Science Direct. Only those studies assessing content validity, construct validity, concurrent validity, discriminant validity, internal consistency reliability (Cronbach’ α), and items-total correlation were retrieved. Results A total of 14 studies illustrated the validity and reliability of ITAS in T2DM patients. Content validity results of S-CVI was 0.97, and I-CVI was 0.8–1.00. Las competencias y habilidades de un buen gestor deportivo siempre han sido un tema polémico que difiere según el país y el contexto en el que se analice. Por ello, el presente estudio tiene por meta mostrar cuáles son las competencias más valoradas por los gerentes deportivos de varios países europeos, teniendo en cuenta las diferencias entre sexos. Participaron en el estudio 209 directivos deportivos de equipos femeninos semiprofesionales, los cuales respondieron a un cuestionario en el que se abordaban varios aspectos para evaluar la importancia de las distintas competencias de un gestor deportivo. Los resultados mostraron que se daba más importancia a las competencias relacionadas con la gestión de las instalaciones deportivas y menos a la gestión de los recursos humanos. Las diferencias por razón de sexo fueron escasas: tan solo se hallaron diferencias significativas en la competencia Gestión de la planificación estratégica. En conclusión, es difícil ponerse de acuerdo sobre la importancia de las competencias de un buen gestor deportivo, al tiempo que se coincide en la necesidad de realizar análisis en las áreas de finanzas, gestión de eventos, planificación y gestión de instalaciones deportivas.

Purpose – This research explores the role of concrete 3D printing (C3DP) in the development of culturally appropriate housing in Indigenous Reserves in Canada through the design, building and evaluation of the Star Lodge project located in the Siksika Nation of Alberta, Canada. The project aims to assess the potential of C3DP in addressing the escalating housing demands in Indigenous communities in Canada. Design/methodology/approach – The research involved a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach, engaging Blackfoot Elders, Knowledge Keepers from the Siksika Nation, Siksika Housing and Nidus3D. Central to this was the design, build and documentation of the Star Lodge project to analyse the advantages and challenges, guided by weekly meetings and site visits. Findings – The project harnessed C3DP to streamline construction, enhance durability, reduce maintenance costs and enhance the energy performance of the homes. Notable time savings were achieved compared to conventional construction methods. Challenges included developing strategies to overcome extreme cold weather conditions, achieving a consistent concrete mix and integrating conventional construction elements such as drywall construction in interiors. The project served as a platform for collaboration and community participation, shaping the design and construction process while raising awareness of innovative construction techniques in the community. Originality/value – This study provides an evidence-based framework for the evaluation of C3DP technology by analysing the Star Lodge Project, the first C3DP project in Alberta and the largest of its kind in Canada. By addressing housing challenges in Indigenous communities, the research holds broader implications for sustainable development and Indigenous empowerment across Canada.

As an endocrine disruptor chemical, pesticide exposure may affect the regulation of growth hormones such as insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). A few current studies to date have noted that long-term pesticide exposure disrupted IGF-1, a potential risk of stunting in children. This study aims to evaluate studies to date of the effect of pesticide exposure on stunting incidence. This systematic review and meta-analysis adhered to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis) guidelines. The PubMed and EBSCO databases were searched for relevant articles without publication restrictions. This review aimed to include reviews, randomized controlled trials (RCT), and cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional studies, which provide actual exposure types of pesticides with stunting measurement by height-age z score. A screening, extraction, and synthesis were conducted, leading to a consensus for reaching mutual agreement. The analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel 2017 for the screening and extraction, Revman version 5.4 software for the meta-analysis, and OpenMEE software for the meta-regression. Of the 13 studies subjected to the qualitative analysis, 6 were eligible for inclusion in the meta-analysis: 2 reviews, 2 RCTs, 2 cohorts, 2 case-control, and 5 cross-sectional studies. Exposure to organophosphate and pyrethroid pesticides was not associated with stunting (P=0.78; odds ratio [OR], 1.11; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.65–1.88). Heterogeneity existed for 79% of the meta-analysis (P≤0.000; z=-5.37; 95% CI, -0.034 to -0.016), and the meta-regression identified age as the causative covariate. Pesticide exposure, regardless of type, is not associated with stunting in children.

Abstract Phenology reflects the life cycle of vegetation, crucial for monitoring global vegetation diversity, ecosystem stability, and agricultural security. However, there is currently no dataset related to phenology. The 24 solar terms (24STs), based on the Sun's annual motion, reflect the changing seasons, temperature fluctuations, and phenological phenomena. They serve as a vital means to characterize vegetation phenology. This study generate a global Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) product based on 24STs using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Google Earth Engine (GEE). The 24STs NDVI dataset adopted the maximum value compositing (MVC) to process the NDVI values between two adjacent 24STs. The product has a spatial resolution of 250 m, covering the period from 2001 to 2022. Comparing with the MOD13Q1, good spatiotemporal consistency between the two datasets was observed, confirming the reliability of the 24STs product. However, the 24STs product holds distinct phenological meanings. This product introduces, for the first time, a vegetation index dataset based on the 24STs, enriching the vegetation index dataset and facilitating further research on phenology.

Coconut fiber, also known as coir fiber, Due to its thread-like structure has previously been shown to help boost concrete's flexural and tensile strength, having said that it negatively affects the workability of fresh concrete. So we can use a workability enhancer to overcome this negative effect while getting optimum benefits in terms of enhancement of flexural and tensile strength. The goal of the study is to discover how coir fiber affects concrete's flexural and tensile strength under uniform workability, with the help of a super plasticizer. It also attempts to find the ideal content of fiber to be used in concrete. The methodology is that with the assistance of a hit-and-trail procedure, we find out the amount of plasticizer needed for each fraction of fiber percentage, to create a constant range workability of 40±5mm for every proportion. Beams and cylinders were cast, curing was done for 28 days, and then their flexural capacity and tensile strength were analysed for each fraction of coconut fiber: 0%,0.4%,0.8%,and1% (by WT of cement )in comparison to plain concrete, the flexural strength improved by 21 percent,25 percent,and15.24 percent at fibers proportions of 0.4%, 0.8%, and 1%, respective, while the tensile strength increased by 29.66 percent, 38.66 percent, and 22.81percent. The best outcomes were discovered at 0.8%. One-bath dyeing and antibacterial finishing of cotton fabric using reactive dye as colorant and silver chloride (AgCl) as an antibacterial agent was conducted to streamline the process and enhance its economic efficiency. The effectiveness of the antibacterial agent in reactive dyeing of cotton fabric, was evaluated through exhaust method with 0.5% AgCl and continuous (pad dry cure) method with 5 g/l of AgCl, utilizing various dye concentrations (1%, 3%, 5% for exhaust; 1g/l, 3g/l, 5g/l for pad dry cure) according to a standard reactive dye recipe. Characterization of the one-bath dyed, and antibacterial finished cotton fabric was performed using K/S values to determine the optimal dye shade concentration and antibacterial activity was evaluated using agar diffusion method. It was observed that the exhaust method revealed an optimum dye concentration at (AgCl 0.5% and dye 5%), while pad dry cure method showedoptimal dye concentration at (AgCl 5g/l and dye 5g/l). Antibacterial tests were conducted on the optimal specimens from both methods (AgCl 0.5%, 0.2%, dye 0.5% for exhaust; dye 5g/l, AgCl 5g/l, 2g/l for pad dry cure), showcasing resistance against bacterial growth. While inhibition zones were observed on treated specimens of the exhaust method, whereas the treated specimens of the pad dry cure method exhibited complete resistance to bacterial growth around the specimen.

Abstract Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of premature mortality worldwide. Despite existing research on CVD risk factors, the study of premature CVD mortality in Malaysia remains limited. This study employs survival analysis to model modifiable risk factors associated with premature CVD mortality among Malaysian adults. Method We utilised data from Malaysia’s National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) conducted in 2006, 2011, and 2015, linked with mortality records. The cohort comprised individuals aged 18 to 70 during the NHMS interview. Follow-up extended to 2021, focusing on CVD-related premature mortality between ages 30 and 70. We employed six survival models: a semi-parametric Cox proportional hazard (PH) and five parametric survival models, which were Exponential, Weibull, Gompertz, log-normal and log-logistic distributions using R software. The age standardized incidence rate (ASIR) of premature CVD mortality was calculated per 1000 person-years. Results Among 63,722 participants, 886 (1.4%) experienced premature CVD mortality, with an ASIR of 1.80 per 1000 person-years. The best-fit models (based on AIC value) were the stratified Cox model by age (semi-parametric) and the log-normal accelerated failure time (AFT) model (parametric). Males had higher risk (Hazard Ratio, HR = 2.68) and experienced 49% shorter survival time (Event Time Ratio, ETR = 0.51) compared to females. Compared to Chinese ethnicity, Indians, Malays, and other Bumiputera had higher HR and lower survival times. Rural residents and those with lower education also faced increased HRs and reduced survival times. Diabetes (diagnosed: HR = 3.26, ETR = 0.37; undiagnosed: HR = 1.63, ETR = 0.63), hypertension (diagnosed: HR = 1.84, ETR = 0.53; undiagnosed: HR = 1.46, ETR = 0.68), and undiagnosed hypercholesterolemia (HR = 1.31, ETR = 0.80) increased risk and decreased survival times. Additionally, current smoking and abdominal obesity elevated risk (HR = 1.38, 1.60) and shortened survival (ETR = 0.81, 0.71). Conclusion The semi-parametric and parametric survival models both highlight the considerable impact of socioeconomic status and modifiable risk factors on premature CVD mortality, underscoring the imperative for targeted interventions to effectively mitigate these effects.

Functionality and dosimetric properties of a tissue-equivalent thermoluminescent glass detector doped with Dy3+. This work investigated an Aluminium-Lithium-Zinc borate oxide matrix using the melting-quench method. X-ray diffraction confirms the glass sample is amorphous. Dysprosium ions doping raises the glass’s tissue equivalent effective atomic number (Zeff.), improving its ability to absorb radiation and its sensitivity, with reproducibility almost at the tolerable limit. The glass detector also reduces the fading rate and signal loss over time. The minimum detectable dose values were 53.04 mGy and 45.1 mGy for the un-doped and 1.5 mol Dy3+ doped Al-Li-Zn borate glasses, respectively. A bright peak was seen in photoluminescence spectra at 348 nm (yellow), 529 nm (green), and 625 nm (orange hue). These correspond to the Dy3+ transitions at 4H15/2 → 6P7/2, 4F9/2 → 6H15/2, 4F9/2 → 6H15/2, and 4F9/2 → 6H13/2 , respectively. There was a noticeable drop in Tg from 257°C in the undoped sample to 101°C in the doped sample, Tm from 862°C to 815°C, and Tc from 756°C to 444°C in the doped sample. These results may indicate a lower temperature at which the material transitions from a solid to a liquid state and a lower crystallisation threshold. The frequency component and energy of activation of the 1.5 mol Dy3+ doped Aluminium-Lithium-Zinc borate are 2.1×10 27 s-1 and 1.03 eV, respectively. The 1.5 Dy3+ doped Aluminium-Lithium-Zinc borate glasses exhibit promising dosimetric properties of the tissue-equivalent thermoluminescent glass detector, indicating its potential for accurate and consistent radiation dosimetry in various applications.

The integration of rotational motion, magnetic fields, and heat transfer phenomena into this context holds immense potential for optimizing performance and efficiency. The study commences with the derivation and analysis of the coupled Navier–Stokes equations, incorporating the Coriolis force due to rotational motion, the Lorentz force arising from magnetic fields, and the energy equation for heat transfer. This comprehensive model accounts for the complex interactions between these physical phenomena, offering a holistic perspective on squeezing fluid flow dynamics. Numerical analysis are conducted to investigate the behavior of fluids under the influence of rotational, magnetic field, and heat transfer effects. The results reveal intricate flow patterns, including vortex formation and heat transfer enhancement. Furthermore, the impact of key parameters such as rotational speed, magnetic field strength, and temperature gradients on flow characteristics is systematically analyzed. The Dufour effect pertains to the transfer of energy resulting from a gradient in mass concentration, occurring as a correlated consequence of irreversible processes. It functions as the inverse of the Soret effect. The temperature changes due to the concentration gradient, amplifying as the Dufour number increases. The most significant temperature rise is observed at the midpoint of the fluid domain. Conversely, the Soret number behaves in a similar but opposite manner. Tables 4–10 has been created to offer a comprehensive analysis of the optimal alignment between Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM) and BVP4c. Specifically, it demonstrates a continuous decrease in skin friction for ξSo, ξRd, and ξR2, while showing an increase for ξSc, ξDo, and ξRem. Meanwhile, the skin friction remains constant for ξPr. The research centers on analyzing heat and mass transfer properties within an incompressible fluid confined between two rotating and stretching disks amidst an unpredictable flow pattern. This study aimed to preserve the quality of chikuwa during storage through the application of an edible coating derived from a combination of liquid smoke extracted from young coconut shell pyrolysis and chitosan. Liquid smoke was obtained through pyrolysis at temperatures of 300 °C (T1), 340 °C (T2), 380 °C (T3), and 420 °C (T4), followed by distillation to remove tar and other contaminants. A solution comprising 2 % liquid smoke was utilized to dissolve chitosan (0.5–1.5 % w/w), creating an edible coating, which was then applied to chikuwa samples through a 15-minute immersion process. Throughout the storage period, the quality of the chikuwa was evaluated using total volatile base nitrogen (TVB-N), total plate count (TPC), most probable number (MPN) Escherichia coli testing, as well as minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and minimum killing concentration (MKC) tests against Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli and Salmonella enterica sv Typhimurium). Results from the TVB test indicated that chikuwa treated with an edible coating, particularly at T4, maintained freshness for up to 168 h. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak Putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi di bidang Pengujian Undang-Undang terhadap perkembangan politik kriminal di Indonesia serta memberikan rekomendasi bagaimana seharusnya MK menguji Undang-Undang pidana di masa yang akan datang. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode doktrinal yang diperkuat dengan pendekatan statuta dan kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, dalam hukum pidana materiil, MK hanya menjatuhkan putusan untuk dekriminalisasi tindak pidana yang diatur dalam Undang-Undang, seperti dalam pengujian Pasal Penghinaan Presiden dan Perbuatan Tidak Menyenangkan dalam KUHP. Namun, dalam hukum pidana formil, MK bertindak sebagai positive legislature, sebagai contoh dalam putusan penambahan kompetensi praperadilan. Abstract The Simcyp Simulator is a software platform widely used in the pharmaceutical industry to conduct stochastic physiologically‐based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling. This approach has the advantage of combining routinely generated in vitro data on drugs and drug products with knowledge of biology and physiology parameters to predict a priori potential pharmacokinetic changes in absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion for populations of interest. Combining such information with pharmacodynamic knowledge of drugs enables planning for potential dosage adjustment when clinical studies are feasible. Although the conduct of dedicated clinical studies in some patient groups (e.g., with hepatic or renal diseases) is part of the regulatory path for drug development, clinical studies for all permutations of covariates potentially affecting pharmacokinetics are impossible to perform. The role of PBPK in filling the latter gap is becoming more appreciated. This tutorial describes the different input parameters required for the creation of a virtual population giving robust predictions of likely changes in pharmacokinetics. It also highlights the considerations needed to qualify the models for such contexts of use. Two case studies showing the step‐by‐step development and application of population files for obese or morbidly obese patients and individuals with Crohn's disease are provided as the backbone of our tutorial to give some hands‐on and real‐world examples.

This study assesses the IT governance capability level at the Tangerang City Revenue Agency (BAPENDA) using the COBIT 5 framework to identify capability gaps and provide recommendations for improvement. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews and observations to understand the current IT governance conditions against COBIT standards. The capability assessment revealed uneven levels across various processes. EDM04 (Ensure Resource Optimization) and MEA01 (Monitor, Evaluate, and Assess Performance and Conformance) were rated at Level 2, indicating that these processes are managed and controlled effectively. In contrast, APO07 (Manage Human Resources), BAI09 (Manage Assets), and DSS01 (Manage Operations) were assessed at Level 1, reflecting that these processes are operational but require substantial improvements to meet the target Level 3. The analysis highlights an urgent need to enhance IT governance, particularly in processes with lower capability levels. DSS01 (Manage Operations) was identified as the highest priority for improvement, based on the gap values and effort required for enhancement. The prioritization of process capability improvement in this study is guided by the principles of gap value and effort required for each process. Strategic enhancements in IT governance are crucial for the Tangerang City Revenue Agency to align better with best practices and achieve higher capability levels. Recommendations include implementing electronic-based applications, establishing Standard Operating Procedures related to performance targets and compliance, and improving IT human resources to enhance the effectiveness of IT service delivery and governance.

Abstract Rice (Oryza sativa) is a staple food for billions of people across the globe, that feeds nearly three-quarters of the human population on Earth, particularly in Asian countries. Rice yield has been drastically reduced and severely affected by various biotic and abiotic stresses, especially pathogens. Controlling the attack of such pathogens is a matter of immediate concern as yield losses in rice crops could deprive millions of lives of nourishment worldwide. Pyricularia oryzae is one such pathogen that has been considered the major disease of rice because of its worldwide geographic distribution. P. oryzae belongs to the kingdom fungi, that causes rice blast ultimately adversely affecting the yield of the rice crop. Keeping in view this alarming scenario, the present study was designed so that the identifications of genome-encoded miRNAs of Oryza sativa were employed to target and silence the genome of P. oryzae. This study accomplished the computational analysis of algorithms related to miRNA target prediction. Four computational target prediction algorithms i.e., psRNATarget, RNA22, miRanda, and RNAhybrid were utilized in this investigation. The consensus among target prediction algorithms was created to discover six miRNAs from the O. sativa genome with the conservation of the target site fully evaluated on the genome of P. oryzae. The discovery of these novel six miRNAs in Oryza sativa paved a strong way toward the control of this disease in rice. It will open doors for further research in the field of gene silencing in rice. These miRNAs can be designed and employed in the future as experimentation to create constructs regarding the silencing of P. oryzae in rice crops. In the future, this research would be surely helpful for the development of P. oryzae resistant rice varieties.

Abstract Current approaches to activity-assisted living (AAL) are complex, expensive, and intrusive, which reduces their practicality and end user acceptance. However, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and wireless communications offer new opportunities to enhance AAL systems. These improvements could potentially lower healthcare costs and reduce hospitalisations by enabling more effective identification, monitoring, and localisation of hazardous activities, ensuring rapid response to emergencies. In response to these challenges, this paper introduces the T ransparent R FID T ag Wall (TRT-Wall), a novel system taht utilises a passive ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag array combined with deep learning for contactless human activity monitoring. The TRT-Wall is tested on five distinct activities: sitting, standing, walking (in both directions), and no-activity. Experimental results demonstrate that the TRT-Wall distinguishes these activities with an impressive average accuracy of $$95.6\%$$ 95.6 % under four distinct distances (2, 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 m) by capturing the RSSI and phase information. This suggests that our proposed contactless AAL system possesses significant potential to enhance elderly patient-assisted living.

Abstract Background The increasing trend of antibiotic resistance has posed challenges for scientists, especially in developing better drug formulations. The discovery of new antibiotics could take years. Therefore, the management of an ideal drug delivery system has become a primary focus nowadays. Main body of abstract Almost all skin diseases could be treated with the administration of topical drugs, especially infectious skin diseases. The increasing cases of antimicrobial resistance require innovative strategies and actions. In dermatokinetics, achieving optimal drug concentrations in the deepest layers of skin tissue is a significant challenge. Human skin has remarkably complex characteristics, presenting a major obstacle in efficiently maintaining drug efficacy. Nanocarriers are an important part of nanomedicine which provide excellent drug penetration through various drug delivery systems. Lipid-based nanovesicles, such as liposome, are the oldest and most potential nanovesicles for such a purpose. Several studies have shown the efficacy of liposome-contained antibiotics and offered the lowest microbial inhibition concentration (MIC). It is suggested that liposome also delivers greater drug accumulation compared to blank drugs. Short conclusion Liposome is a flexible lipid-based drug delivery that enhances drug permeation through skin tissue by mimicking the lipid bilayer system of the organ. It is non-toxic, less immunogenic, and easily degraded by enzyme. The incorporation of liposome into antibiotics may reduce the inefficient drug dosage since the encapsulation will protect the active compounds prior to being released from the vehicle. Thus, the lowest MIC and less clinical side effects will be obtained. Graphical abstract

The challenges of finding interesting and interactive teaching materials is one of the causes of low science learning outcomes. Accordingly, this study formulates valid, practical, and effective flipbook-based e-modules for improving junior high school students' science learning outcomes. The Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model was adopted. Then, the effectiveness of proposed e-modules in improving cognitive learning outcomes through pretest and posttest questions was measured. The garnered data was analyzed using the t-test and N-Gain. The material aspect was declared valid with 87% accuracy, while the media aspect yielded 84% accuracy, falling under the valid category. The practicality test for the e-module conducted by involving the teacher resulted in a 97% score in the practical category. Similarly, the readability test conducted by involving the students resulted in a 93% score in the practical category. The analysis of the test results indicated a significant difference in cognitive learning outcomes before and after using flipbook-based e-modules, with a sig value of 0.000 < a = 0.05. The N-Gain test yielded a value of 0.70 in the medium criteria, placing the level of effectiveness in the moderately effective category. These results suggest that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, facilitated by flipbook-based interactive e-modules in learning activities, can enhance the science learning outcomes of junior high school students.

Social inclusion is an effort to improve the dignity of disadvantaged individuals so that they can engage in social life. This research explains how the Merdeka Curriculum can direct students as social beings who have character and can accept various roles in the surrounding community. In essence, social inclusion is beginning to take shape and play a crucial role in education. The purpose of this research is to examine the potential of the Merdeka Curriculum policy in promoting social inclusion in the elementary school learning context. Bibliometric analysis is employed to examine publication trends using the Google Scholar database from 2013 to 2023. A total of 760 articles gathered from Publish or Perish are then subjected to data visualization analysis using a VOS viewer to obtain network, overlay, and density visualization. The research findings indicate that studies related to the Merdeka Curriculum significantly increased in 2023 in line with its implementation, but studies addressing social inclusion were relatively scarce. Based on network visualization, 59 terms are grouped into 9 clusters. The term 'Multiculturalism' exhibited a relatively high link strength in connection with terms such as 'new curriculum,' 'modern,' and 'national curriculum' in the current context of the Merdeka Curriculum policy. Other terms found include 'diversity,' 'social inclusion,' and 'social cohesion.' The co-authorship analysis identified 1543 contributing authors. Given Indonesia's multicultural nature, characterized by diversity in various dimensions, Researchers focus the findings of this research as a guide for educators to consistently provide inclusive, comprehensive, and interesting teaching approaches to all students.

Abstract The Hybrid NAR-RBFs Networks for COVID-19 fractional order model is examined in this scientific study. Hybrid NAR-RBFs Networks for COVID-19, that is more infectious which is appearing in numerous areas as people strive to stop the COVID-19 pandemic. It is crucial to figure out how to create strategies that would stop the spread of COVID-19 with a different age groups. We used the epidemic scenario in the Hybrid NAR-RBFs Networks as a case study in order to replicate the propagation of the modified COVID-19. In this research work, existence and stability are verified for COVID-19 as well as proved unique solutions by applying some results of fixed point theory. The developed approach to investigate the impact of Hybrid NAR-RBFs Networks due to COVID-19 at different age groups is relatively advanced. Also obtain solutions for a proposed model by utilizing Atanga Toufik technique and fractal fractional which are the advanced techniques for such type of infectious problems for continuous monitoring of spread of COVID-19 in different age groups. Comparisons has been made to check the efficiency of techniques as well as for finding the reliable solutions to understand the dynamical behavior of Hybrid NAR-RBFs Networks for non-linear COVID-19. Finally, the parameters are evaluated to see the impact of illness and present numerical simulations using Matlab to see actual behavior of this infectious disease for Hybrid NAR-RBFs Networks of COVID-19 for different age groups.

Abstract Background This research investigated the impact of selenium-nanoparticles (Se-NPs) supplemented in sunflower meal (SM)-based diets on digestibility, mineral absorption, and growth performance of Catla catla. Se-NPs were added to seven test meals in varying amounts (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 mgkg− 1). A total of 315 fish were evenly allocated three replicate tanks, with 15 fish per tank, and given diets equivalent to (5%) of their wet biomass daily for a period of 90 days. Results The test diet (T-D) supplemented with 1.5 mgkg− 1 Se-NPs yielded remarkable results, including a significant increase in mean weight gain (14 g), an impressive average weight gain percentage (208%), a 100% survival rate, with no mortality observed and the highest specific growth rate (1.25). Moreover, 1.5 mgkg− 1 Se-NPs (T-D-IV) demonstrated superior nutritional digestibility (CP, 76%; CF, 79% and GE, 74%). Additionally, the diet 1.5 mgkg− 1 Se-NPs showed enhanced mineral absorption (K, P, Ca, Na, Zn, Cu and Fe) than other diets. Conclusion It was practically proven that the growth indices, nutrient absorption, and mineral status of C. catla were significantly improved by Se-NPs supplemented SM-based diets, with the optimum level of supplementation being 1.5 mgkg− 1.

Abstract Background Pakistan reported 1.57 million COVID-19 cases between 2020 and 2022, based on approximately 30.6 million SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR (reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction) tests conducted. This study utilized data from one of the largest in-country testing facilities, Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) in Karachi, Pakistan, to explore gender and age-related in RT-PCR testing patterns. Methods We conducted a retrospective review of SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test data extracted from AKUH clinical laboratory records between February 2020 and February 2022. Gender and age distributions were examined in the context of testing patterns across the period. Multivariate regression models assessed independent associations between COVID-19 positivity and key variables. Results We reviewed 470,249 RT-PCR tests, finding that most tests were in those aged 21–40 years (48.1%). Overall, COVID-19 test positivity was 20.6%. In all, 57.7% were performed for males, predominant amongst those tested across all age groups and waves. Females had significantly lower odds of testing positive for COVID-19 (OR: 0.9; 95% CI: 0.9-1.0). However, when adjusted for gender, age and pandemic phases, the positivity rates between males and females were the same. The odds of a positive result increased significantly with age; individuals aged > 80 years had 2.5 times higher odds of testing positive than those aged 0–10 years (aOR 2.5, 95% CI 2.3–2.7). Conclusions The analysis indicates a consistent male dominance in COVID-19 testing, with higher positivity rates in older age groups. Our study highlight the importance of examining demographic characteristics in disease associated data especially, representation of females amongst cohorts.

As a minority group, Disability Communication Forum of Kudus Regency (FKDK) uses social media to advocate and carry out social change. This research aims to explore the utilization of social media to articulate the interests of disability groups. This research employed a descriptive-qualitative method. The primary data are collected from in-depth interviews with the chairman of a disability organization, disability activists, and a regional parliament member. Meanwhile, the secondary data are collected from journals, books, and websites related to this issue. This research defines social media usage for Disability Communication Forum of Kudus Regency (FKDK) to encourage the passing of Local Regulations regarding the protection and fulfillment of disability rights. They mobilize communities, raise awareness through sharing videos and photographs, and use media as a fundraising instrument. Social media empowers marginalized groups by providing a platform to articulate their interests, advocate for rights, and facilitate social justice movements. It enhances accessibility, promotes community mobilization, and offers innovative fundraising opportunities. Advocacy groups leverage social media strategically for policy influence, public engagement, and collaboration. However, addressing digital regulation is crucial to ensure inclusivity and digital advocacy endeavors benefit all community members.

The mechanical properties such as tensile behavior of a 3D printed object can be influenced by various printing parameters, including printing temperature, orientation, infill density, and printing speed. This study focuses on investigating the effects of infill density and printing speed. Thirty dog-bone specimens were 3D printed using Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) technique with Polylactic Acid (PLA) filament. Three different infill density settings (40%, 60%, and 80%) and three printing speed settings (30 mm/s, 60 mm/s, and 90 mm/s) were used. Tensile tests were performed on each specimen using a Universal Testing Machine. The experimental results indicate a clear trend of tensile behaviour with infill density. Increasing the infill density leads to improved tensile behaviour in the specimen. The highest Young’s Modulus and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) were achieved at 541.67 MPa and 24.3 MPa, respectively, with an infill density of 80%. On the other hand, printing speed showed an inverse relationship with tensile behaviour. As the printing speed increased, the Young’s Modulus and UTS decreased. However, the effect of printing speed on the mechanical properties was not as significant as that of infill density. When increasing the printing speed from 30 mm/s to 90 mm/s, the UTS only decreased by 5.61%. In contrast, increasing the infill density from 40% to 80% resulted in a UTS increase of 35.23%.

Cryptocaryon irritans, known as cryptocaryonosis disease infection in fish, is a significant problem for aquarists because they not only cause the disease but also lead to high mortality in the aquarium population. This case report aims to identify Cryptocaryon irritans infection in four Indian Ocean oriental sweetlips at the Jakarta Aquarium and Safari. Before they died, a total of four fish showed signs of weakness, scratching, excessive mucus, and pale gills. The diagnosis was confirmed through clinical assessment, physical examination, and microscopic analysis of skin scrape and gill clip samples, which revealed the presence of numerous trophonts (the young immature stages) of C. irritans. These findings underscore the importance of vigilant monitoring and prompt intervention to mitigate the impact of C. irritans, especially on marine aquarium fish populations.
