Abstract

Abstract Solitary wave solutions are of great interest to bio-mathematicians and other scientists because they provide a basic description of nonlinear phenomena with many practical applications. They provide a strong foundation for the development of novel biological and medical models and therapies because of their remarkable behavior and persistence. They have the potential to improve our comprehension of intricate biological systems and help us create novel therapeutic approaches, which is something that researchers are actively investigating. In this study, solitary wave solutions of the nonlinear Murray equation will be discovered using a modified extended direct algebraic method. These solutions represent a uniform variation in blood vessel shape and diameter that can be used to stimulate blood flow in patients with cardiovascular disease. These solutions are newly in the literature, and give researchers an important tool for grasping complex biological systems. To see how the solitary wave solutions behave, graphs are displayed using Matlab.

Abstract

In the present work, Einstein's vacuum field equation is investigated analytically to explore the solitary wave solutions. This equation arises in mathematical physics, having meaningful applications in the general theory of relativity. This concept is crucial for numerous challenging experiments and space missions. The generalized exponential rational function and modified auxiliary equation approaches are used to obtain the exact solitary wave solution. Various types of solutions are extracted, including exponential functions, hyperbolic functions, trigonometric functions, and rational forms. Additionally, a stability analysis for the Einstein vacuum field equation is conducted. Appropriate parameters are chosen to draw 3-D and corresponding contour plots of some solutions, which clearly demonstrate the solitary wave behaviors. The obtained results support the idea that applying these approaches is the most effective strategy for resolving any nonlinear issues that may arise in science and technology.

Abstract

In this article, we investigate existence and the exact solutions of the extended Fisher-Kolmogorov (EFK) equation. This equation is used in the population growth dynamics and wave propagation. The fourth-order term in this model describes the phase transitions near critical points which are also known as Lipschitz points. He's variational method is adopted to construct the soliton solutions as well as the periodic wave solutions successfully for the extended (higher-order) EFK equation. This approach is simple and has the greatest advantages because it can reduce the order of our equation and make the equation more simple. So, the results that are obtained by this approach are very simple and straightforward. The graphics behavior of these solutions are also sketched in 3D, 2D, and corresponding contour representations by the different choices of parameters.

Abstract

The current research deals with the exact solutions of the nonlinear partial differential equations having two important difficulties, that is, the coefficient singularities and the stochastic function (white noise). There are four major contributions to contemporary research. One is the mathematical analysis where the explicit a priori estimates for the existence of solutions are constructed by Schauder’s fixed point theorem. Secondly, the control of the solution behavior subject to the singular parameter ϵ when ϵ → 0. Thirdly, the impact of noise that is present in the differential equation has been successfully handled in exact solutions. The final contribution is to simulate the exact solutions and explain the plots.

Abstract

The sustainable design and construction of highways is indispensable for the economic growth and progress of any region. Highway pavements are one of the core transportation infrastructures that require energy efficient materials with durability and an optimized lifecycle. Recent research has proven that warm-mix asphalt pavements prepared with renewable bio-binders are less susceptible to distresses. This study aims to investigate the resilience characteristics (load time, deformation time) of soybean oil modified and unmodified warm-mix asphalts. Aggregates, asphalt binders and asphalt mixes were characterized in accordance with the Superpave Mix Design Criteria. The resilient modulus tests were performed as per ASTM D7369. The test results indicated that the soybean-modified warm asphalt mix samples showed a 20% to 32% reduction in load-carrying capacity than unmodified warm asphalt mixes. The values of the horizontal and vertical recoverable deformations observed in the soybean-modified mixes were found to be 3% to 7% more than in the unmodified mixes. A slight variability (up to 7%) was also observed in the time-response spectra, i.e., peak load, unload and rest periods, in the soybean-modified mixes compared with the unmodified mixes. The Pearson correlation coefficient showed a significant trend between the resilient modulus test parameters for the soybean-modified warm asphalt mixes, i.e., load deformation, load time and deformation time. Soybean oil showed sustainable behavior as a bio-binder, particularly in the deformation-time response for the warm asphalt mixes. However, the effect of soybean in terms of the reduction of the load-carrying capacity from a sustainability perspective needs to be investigated.

Abstract

The interest in utilization of renewable resources like vegetable oils in the modification of asphalt binders has been increasing for last few years. This study aims to evaluate the sunflower oil (SO) compatibility with three types of asphalt binders for its future application in pavement and building construction. The chemical changes, aging behavior and mixing uniformity of binders due to addition of SO were studied through storage stability and fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis. The potential of SO modification in binders was assessed by using rotational viscometer, dynamic shear rheometer and bending beam rheometer tests. The Superpave, Glover-Rowe diagram and master curve were used for different tests analysis. FTIR results revealed the induction of new peaks of esterification at 1163 cm−1 and 1745 cm−1 in binders mixed with SO. The SO modified binders showed antiaging behavior which may be due to the presence of α-tocopherol in SO. It was observed that use of SO in binders improved fatigue parameter up to 58%. The linear amplitude sweep test results showed that the addition of SO increased the fatigue life of asphalt binders. The sunflower oil as an additive in asphalt binders will be a sustainable and durable material in pavement and building constructions.

Abstract

The interest in utilization of renewable resources derived materials (RRDM) for the modification of asphalt binders has been increasing for the last few years. This study aims to investigate the effect of a novel material i.e. sunflower flour (SF) on rheological characteristics of asphalt binders for their possible future application in pavement and building construction. The literature on RRDM modified asphalt binders does not provide guidelines about SF compatibility with binders. In this study the SF was varied as 0, 1, 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10% by the weight of binders. The rolling thin film oven (RTFO) and pressure aging vessel (PAV) were used for aging of binders. The binders were assessed by rotational viscometer (RV), dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), bending beam rheometer (BBR) and storage stability testing. The SF addition to binders showed improvement in properties of binders like viscosity, softening point, viscosity-temperature susceptibility (VTS), flash and fire points, and complex shear modulus. Rheological properties of binders were observed optimum at 5% SF addition. The interaction of optimum SF dosage with asphalt binders was studied by employing optical microscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) tests. The Superpave, Glover-Rowe parameters, Cole-Cole and black space diagrams, master curve, the viscoelastic continuum damage (VECD) model and multiple stress creep recovery (MSCR) criteria were used to analyze the results. FTIR results showed the condensation reaction of SF with binders. The SF addition in binders improved rutting parameter and high temperature resistance. The MSCR results indicated an improved behavior of SF modified binders against shear strain. The addition of SF decreased non recoverable creep compliance (Jnr) and increased the recovery (R) of binders.
