Stoicism has been used to describe a wide range of behaviors in the face of disease that go from silence, resistance to the adversity, or 'to make the best of a bad disease'. This study pursued two objectives: 1) analyze the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the LSS; 2) assess the relation between stoicism and gender, age, and the five-factor personality model. NEOcoping is a prospective, multicenter, observational, non-interventionist study. Patients were recruited consecutively at thirteen Spanish teaching hospitals. The following scales were administered: Liverpool Stoicism Scale (LSS) and Big Five Inventory (BFI-10). A total of 443 patients (250 females) with a mean age of 59.8 years (SD =12.3) were enrolled. Colon cancer was the most common, followed by breast cancer. At the total-scale level, mean LSS was lower than the originally reported British sample. The four-factor structure fitted the data well, had a clear interpretation, and the derived scales showed acceptable reliabilities. During the 17th century some artists wrote the first artistic treaties in Spain, and decided to compose their own drawing books too. It is the case of the Valencian artist Vicente Salvador Gómez who in 1674 began one of the first examples that is preserved, the Cartilla y fundamentales reglas de la pintura. Director of the Academy of Painting of the convent of Santo Domingo, contemporary of Ribera and Alonso Cano, owned one of the most valuable and know artist?s library, with an enviable collection of four hundred volumes. This paper studies the pages that are conserved of the drawing books and shows how the artist knew the artistic theories that circulated by Europe, among them physiognomics. This subject, between the mantic and the science was object of study of numerous artists and had been included in the treaties of Leonardo or Dürer, but also in Spain by Carducho. The remains of the drawing book shows the knowledge of the painter on the clasic physiognomic theories, but their drawings also suppose the first and only examples of illustration of these theories in Spain in XVII century, uniting the image and the word in an exercise of marked didactic vocation.

As a result of the steady increase of computers, mainly in the tertiary sector, it is more frequent to find jobs that make use of screens and also discomforts from workers in relation to health. All this has led to a huge number of studies and medical research on possible health risks related to the visual display terminal works (V.D.T.). By and large, we can say that, although no serious risks come up, those affected can display a series of discomfort or disorders that should be avoided dealt with accordingly. Operators of data visualization screen sufferings can be classified into three groups: eyestrain, physical and mental fatigue. Psychosocial risk factors are determined as those characteristics relative to the organization and arrangement of the work from the Law 31/1995 of Labor Risk Prevention, as "those present conditions in a labor situation directly related to the management of the work, the work itself and the accomplishment of the task, and that come up with aptitude to affect the development of the work and the worker’s health". The evaluation of the psychosocial risk factors, integrated into the overall evaluation process of occupational hazards, turns into a preventive tool of great importance. The identification, evaluation and control of the psychosocial factors together with the planning and adoption of the measured preventive correspondents, will drive to an effective management of the employees and of the organization, in the sense of a better adequacy and adjustment between the work assigned, the environment, the company and people. Los satélites involucrados pertenecen a la nueva generación de satélites IRIDIUM los cuales, se espera sean lanzados en los próximos años (2015-2017)., This final degree Project has as a objective to present the main features regarding the design, development and validation of a satellital communication system. Satellite involved in that proccess belong to new IRIDIUM satellite generation satellites which will be launched over the coming years.

Chemotherapy-induced or radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting can significantly affect patients´ quality of life. Anticipatory emesis is a conditioned response which occurs before patients receive their next chemotherapy cycle. It is based on the learning of a patient´s negative experience. The aim of this article is to review effective treatments, pharmacological and psychological, for the control of anticipatory emesis. The best treatment to prevent anticipatory emesis is the control of acute and delayed emesis. The new antiemetic drugs, palonosetron and aprepitant, are usually able to prevent nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy, but not to improve anticipatory nausea and vomiting. Behavioral interventions such as progressive muscle relaxation training and systematic desensitization should be considered important methods for preventing and treating anticipatory emesis. La emesis producida por la quimioterapia y radioterapia puede afectar significativamente la calidad de vida de los pacientes con cáncer. La emesis anticipatoria es una respuesta condicionada que aparece en pacientes antes de recibir el ciclo de quimioterapia ya que se basa en un aprendizaje de una experiencia negativa con dicho tratamiento. El objetivo de este artículo es revisar los tratamientos eficaces, farmacológicos y psicológicos, para el control de la emesis anticipatoria. El mejor tratamiento para prevenir la emesis anticipatoria es el control de la emesis aguda y tardía. Los nuevos fármacos antieméticos, como el palonosetrón o el aprepitant, suelen evitar las náuseas y los vómitos por la quimioterapia, pero no mejoran las náuseas y vómitos anticipatorios. Las intervenciones conductuales, como la relajación muscular progresiva y el entrenamiento en desensibilización sistemática, deben considerarse métodos importantes para la prevención y el tratamiento de la emesis anticipatoria.

Fatigue is a symptom with a high incidence in patients with cancer. It is a multifactorial phenomenon, which deteriorates the quality of life of patients, from physical, psychological, social and working points of view. It is one of the symptoms that most concern the patient, even more than pain, medically it is paid little attention, therefore underestimating its importance and not applying the diagnostic tools necessary to identify its causes and to reduce it as far as possible. La astenia es un síntoma con una elevada incidencia en pacientes con cáncer. Es un fenómeno multifactorial que deteriora la calidad de vida del paciente, con repercusiones físicas, psicológicas, sociales y laborales. Es uno de los síntomas que más preocupan al enfermo, incluso más que el dolor, y al que se le presta poca atención. Por tanto se infravalora su importancia y no se aplican los medios diagnósticos necesarios para identificar sus causas y poder disminuirlas en la medida de lo posible.

A nonlinear fractional programming problem is considered, where the functions involved are diferentiable with respect to an arc. Necessary and suficient optimality conditions are obtained in terms of the right diferentials with respect to an arc of the functions. A dual is formulated and duality results are proved using concepts of locally arcwise connected, locally Q-connected and locally P-connected functions

In this paper, the resolutian of stochastic multiple objective prograrmming problems is studied. The existence of random parameters in the objective functions has yielded to the definition of several efficient solution concepts for such problems in the literature, We will focus our attention in the study of some of these concepts, namely, minimun risk and B probability. Once these concepts are defined, the relations among the sets of efficient solutions obtained are studied.

Esta tesis doctoral se divide en dos partes. La primera de ellas se encuentra enfocada al estudio de las imágenes de mujeres venerables en el Barroco español, englobado por la representación de experiencias místicas, así como de los retratos. El análisis de las imágenes pretende mostrar la iconografía inmersa en estas, además de los diversos aspectos sobre la religiosidad femenina de la época y los cambios producidos en el modelo de santidad contrarreformista establecido para estas mujeres. Para ello se han recopilado poco más de 200 imágenes de mujeres venerables en las que se ha podido observar unas características comunes. Estas se dividen entre retratos y representaciones de episodios sobrenaturales destacados de sus vidas. La identificación de similitudes ha permitido que sean clasificadas siguiendo unas tipologías iconográficas. Para los retratos, estas han sido: de abadesas, vinculada a la representación de la autoridad; en actitud orante, mostrando posturas para fomentar la oración y devoción; funerario, destacando los retratos de monjas coronadas y centrados en la muerte como el tránsito hacia la unión definitiva con Dios; de religiosa lectora, que quedan asociados a la educación femenina; y de religiosa escritora, donde se destaca la faceta intelectual de estas mujeres. Para terminar de completar la visión sobre la imagen de venerables en relación con la religiosidad, han sido analizadas las representaciones de episodios sobrenaturales, en los que el cuerpo se sitúa como protagonista del suceso místico. Por ello, estas se han analizado vinculadas a su corporalidad. De este modo, en primer lugar se trata el sacrificio y la mortificación del cuerpo; seguido de la enfermedad, como prueba de Dios; los dones otorgados, a través de milagros y visiones; y la experimentación de éxtasis, transverberaciones, levitaciones o desposorios místicos, entre otros. La metodología utilizada se ha basado en el análisis iconográfico e iconológico de las imágenes, apoyado en la consulta de fuentes bibliográficas. Los objetivos planteados en esta primera parte han sido: exponer la situación de la mujer en el Barroco español, y en particular la de las mujeres dedicadas a la religión; analizar la representación de la religiosidad femenina del Barroco a través de las imágenes; generar una clasificación de los retratos de venerables en base a unas tipologías iconográficas; y por último, explicar las causas del aumento de estos retratos. Los resultados obtenidos han permitido vislumbrar los motivos del incremento de estas imágenes, así como destacar el papel social de las venerables y de sus representaciones. La segunda parte se centra en el diseño, la implementación y el análisis de los resultados obtenidos de una unidad didáctica de innovación sobre el siglo XVII en España basada en la pintura del Siglo de Oro, la perspectiva histórica y la visibilidad de las mujeres en la sociedad barroca. Ha seguido una metodología preexperimental, y los objetivos han sido: utilizar la obra de arte como recurso didáctico para la enseñanza de la historia; visibilizar a la mujer en las clases de Historia; y por último, diseñar, implementar y evaluar una unidad didáctica de innovación basada en las competencias de pensamiento histórico. Para ello, la unidad didáctica fue diseñada partiendo de estos conceptos y aplicada en un centro educativo junto a dos instrumentos de recogida de información: pretest y postest. Los resultados han permitido observar que los discentes han obtenido una visión plena del siglo XVII español, así como de la pintura del Siglo de Oro, y mediante el trabajo de la competencia de la perspectiva histórica han podido indagar y conocer las herramientas del historiador. Además, han conocido una historia más completa, en la que la mujer ha adquirido presencia como sujeto histórico. This doctoral thesis is divided into two parts. The first focuses on the study of images of venerable women of the Baroque period in Spain, encompassing the depiction of mystical experiences and portraits. The analysis of these images aims to show the iconography immersed in them, along with diverse aspects of feminine religiosity in the Baroque period and the changes which took place in the model of counter-reformist holiness established by these women. For this purpose, just over 200 images of venerable women have been collected in which certain common characteristics can be observed. These are divided between portraits and portrayals of significant supernatural episodes in their lives. The identification of similarities has made it possible to classify these images according to certain iconographic typologies. For the portraits, these are: abbesses, linked to the representation of authority; in an attitude of prayer, demonstrating postures which encourage prayer and devotion; funerary, emphasising portraits of crowned nuns and focusing on death as the transition towards the definitive union with God; of religious readers, associated to female education; and religious writers, in which the intellectual facet of these women is highlighted. In order to complete the perspective of the image of venerable women in relation to religiosity, representations of supernatural episodes have been analysed, in which the body is identified as the protagonist of the mystical event. These representations have been analysed in connection with their corporality. First of all, sacrifice and the mortification of the body are addressed, followed by illness, as a test from God; the gifts granted, via miracles and visions; and experiences of religious extasy, levitation and mystical marriage, among others. The methodology employed has been based on the iconographic and iconological analysis of the images, assisted by the consultation of bibliographic sources. The objectives proposed in this first section were: to present the situation of women in the Baroque era in Spain, in particular that of women dedicated to religion; to analyse the depiction of female religiosity in the Baroque period via images; to generate a classification of the portraits of venerable women based on certain iconographic typologies; and, finally, to explain the causes of the increase in number of these portraits. The results obtained have made it possible to gain an insight into the reasons for the increase in these images and to highlight the social role played by venerable women and the way they were portrayed. The second part of this thesis focuses on the design, implementation and analysis of the results obtained from an innovative teaching unit on the 17th century in Spain based on the art of the Golden Age, historical perspective and the visibility of women in Baroque society. A pre-experimental methodology was followed and the objectives were as follows: to use works of art as resources for the teaching of history; to increase the visibility of women in History classes; and to design, implement and evaluate an innovative teaching unit based on the historical thinking skills. To this end, the teaching unit was designed based on these concepts and applied in a school along with two data collection tools (pre-test and post-test). The results have made it possible to observe that the students have obtained a complete perspective of the 17th century in Spain and of Golden Age art and, via working on the skill of historical perspective, they have been able to research and become aware of the tools of the historian. Furthermore, they have learned a more complete history, in which women have acquired significance as historical subjects.
