1. COVID-19 and Higher Education: Challenges and Possibilities in the Transition to Online Education in Latin America

Abstract

A documentary review was carried out on the production and publication of research papers on the study of the variable Higher Education during COVID-19 and its Challenges in the Transition to Online Education. The purpose of this bibliometric analysis is to know the main characteristics of the volume of publications registered in the Scopus database during the period 2020 and January in Latin American countries in 2022, achieving the identification of 612 publications. The information provided by this platform was organized by means of tables and figures, categorizing the information by Year of Publication, Country of Origin, Area of Knowledge and Type of Publication. Once these characteristics were described, the position of different authors regarding the proposed topic was referenced by means of a qualitative analysis. Among the main findings of this research, it is found that Brazil, with 217 publications, is the Latin American country with the highest production. The area of knowledge that made the greatest contribution to the construction of bibliographic material referring to the study of education in higher education in COVID-19 was social sciences with 251 published documents, and the type of publication that was most used during the aforementioned period was the journal article, which represents 75% of the total scientific production.

9. Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Revised--Abbreviated: Invariance Gender in Spanish University Students

Abstract

Introduction: This article has two objectives: a) to examine the factorial structure of the Spanish version of the EPQR-A through an exploratory factor analysis and b) to perform a confirmatory factor analysis to determine the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the EPQR-A in terms of construct validity in an adult academic population. Method: The sample was 826 university undergraduate students volunteered to complete the Spanish version of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Revised-Abbreviated (EPQR-A) and to examine the concurrent validity of the EPQR-A, the Spanish version of the questionnaire Dysexecutive Questionnaire (DEX-Sp). We applied exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Result: The instrument demonstrated good psychometric properties and reinforcing the original dimensional structure of the scale. The EPQR-A has psychometric characteristics comparable to longer questionnaires, such as the EPQ-R; therefore, it has great suitability when inserted into more extensive protocols. Conclusion: The differences between males and females allow us to affirm that in late adolescence and early youth, promotion, prevention, and intervention health strategies differentiated by gender should be conducted

AbstractObjectiveMethodResultsConclusionsThis longitudinal study aims to explore several individual psychological vulnerability factors that could predict the onset or escalation of alcohol use in early adolescents.A total of 792 adolescents participated in all stages of this study. Participants were divided into two groups based on their alcohol use patterns: no drinking group (ND) and light drinking group (LD). Cognitive, personality, and neuropsychological measures were assessed using questionnaires, and alcohol use was evaluated at baseline (T1). After two years, alcohol use was reassessed (T2) and participants were categorized into three groups: no drinking group (ND), light drinking group (LD), and heavy episodic drinking group (HED).Results indicated that low inhibition, high sensitivity to reward, high openness to experience, and high motor impulsivity were primary predictors of the transition from no alcohol use (T1) to alcohol use (T2), regardless of subsequent drinking trajectory (LD or HED). The transition from LD (T1) to HED (T2) was primarily predicted by low inhibition, high cognitive impulsivity, high sensitivity to reward, and sex.This longitudinal study provides a novel approach to the study of HED initiation in adolescence. The findings expand our understanding of the risk of psychological factors associated with adolescent alcohol initiation, enabling clinicians to tailor primary and secondary prevention programs in schools and other relevant settings. 22. A study on the effect of imbalanced data in tourism recommendation models

Abstract

Purpose – This paper aims to study the effect of imbalanced data in tourism quality models. It is demonstrated that this imbalance strongly affects the accuracy of tourism prediction models for hotel recommendation. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire was used to survey 83,740 clients from hotels between five and two or less stars using a binary logistic model. The data correspond to a sample of 87 hotels from all around the world (120 countries fromAmerica, Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia). Findings – The results of the study suggest that the imbalance in the data affects the prediction accuracy of the models used, especially to the prediction provided by unsatisfied clients, tending to consider them as satisfied customers. Practical implications – In this sense, special attention should be given to unsatisfied clients or, at least, some safeguards to prevent the effect of the imbalance of data should be included in the models. Social implications – In the tourism industry, the strong imbalance between satisfied and unsatisfied customers produces misleading prediction results. This fact could have effects on the quality policy of hoteliers. 29. Clinical, biochemical and molecular markers of injury before transplantation

Abstract

The use of organs from donors after circulatory death (DCD) has been recommended as one strategy to enlarge the donor pool and raise the transplant rate. However, DCD allografts had higher incidence of early post-transplant dysfunction. The general aim of this research project was to develop clinical and experimental strategies to reduce the incidence of early post-transplant dysfunction of kidney and liver allografts from DCD. First the ability of a clinical scoring system based on donor data for identifying DCD kidneys with high-risk of post-transplant dysfunction was evaluated using the Oxford and the UK National DCD kidney transplant cohorts. This works suggest that stratification of DCD kidneys before transplantation might allow early identification of kidneys in which lower graft function and survival could be expected if any additional therapeutic intervention is implemented. Second, as it has been suggested that hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) may protect DCD kidneys from additional preservation injury and improve their outcome after transplantation, this work explored the benefit of HMP as preservation technique fo DCD kidneys in Oxford and discusses the potential of this technique for reducing the incidence of post-transplant dysfunction in DCD kidneys. The Oxford. Liver Group has provided evidence of the benefit of preservation with normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) on post-transplant function and survival of DCD liver allografts. In this work, the molecular mechanisms associated with this benefit were characterized using micro array technology. This analysis suggests that the beneficial effect ofNMP may be associated with the induction of the ischaemic preconditioning phenomenon and highlights a group of genes with potential for gene therapy. Finally, this works provides the "proof-of-concept" that the use of a non-mammalian viral vector for gene transfer of kidneys and livers during conventional cold preservation is feasible and is not associated with additional tissue injury.

Abstract

The 5G-CLARITY project proposes a novel architecture for private 5G networks that converges Wi-Fi 6, 5G NR and LiFi under a common service platform for Industry 4.0. In this demonstration, we deploy the 5G-CLARITY system in a real factory setup and showcase its multi-connectivity framework, which allows to customize aggregation behavior for different devices. We demonstrate two different aggregation modes. First, a capacity aggregation mode that delivers between 200 Mbps and 600 Mbps to mobile devices throughout the factory floor. Second, a latency-sensitive aggregation mode that is used to replace Ethernet connectivity for a production line achieving endto-end delays below 10 ms.
