Diclofenac (DCF) degradation in aqueous solution under electron beam (EB) irradiation after nanobubbling treatment was studied and compared with treatments using nanobubbling or EB irradiation alone. It was found that the removal efficiency of DCF increased by increasing the adsorbed dose, and it depended on the initial concentration of DCF in solution, being higher for the lower concentrations. Furthermore, when using the nanobubbling treatment alone, about 16% of the DCF was removed from the aqueous solution due to the OH radicals generated during the process. On the other hand, using EB treatment at 0.5 kGy, the degradation of DCF increased from 36% to 51% when adding a nanobubbling pretreatment before the EB radiation. At higher doses (5 kGy), the degradation of DCF was 96% using EB radiation and 99% using nanobubbling before EB radiation, indicating that the nanobubbling effect was not synergistic. With an increase in the adsorbed doses, EB radiation seemed to play a more important role on the degradation of DCF, probably due to the reactive species generated. Moreover, the solutions treated with nanobubbling and EB radiation presented higher COD values and radiolytic by-products with aromatic rings with chlorine. Background: A non-invasive tool for the assessment of ulcerative colitis (UC) activity is needed for treatment control.Purpose: To determine the efficacy of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) in assessing inflammatory activity in UC.Material and Methods: In this prospective study, 20 adult patients underwent 3.0-T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) IVIM diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) with 10 b-values (0-900 s/mm2) 0-6 days after biopsies entailing colonoscopy. The inflammatory activity of large bowel segments was graded on endoscopy with Mayo score and on pathology with a six‑grade classification system. IVIM‑derived parameters (f, D, and D*) calculated from regions of interest placed within the bowel wall were correlated with both scores (56 and 34 bowel segments, respectively). Radiologists were blinded to endoscopy and pathology results. A T-test and Wilcoxon rank sum test was used in comparisons and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed.Results: Statistically significant differences were found between histopathologically inactive or mild activity and moderate to severe activity in f (respectively: mean = 0.19 and mean = 0.28, P = 0.024; area under the curve [AUC] = 0.723, sensitivity 0.82, specificity 0.59, accuracy 0.67 for a 0.185 cut-off value) and D (mean = 1.34 × 10-3mm2/s and mean = 1.07 × 10-3mm2/s, P = 0.0083; AUC = 0.735, sensitivity 0.91, specificity 0.54, accuracy 0.66 for cut-off value 1.24 × 10-3mm2/s). No significant difference in D* was noted. No significant correlation between Mayo endoscopic subscore, and f, D, nor D* was found.Conclusion: IVIM perfusion fraction correlates with UC activity and might represent emerging tool in assessment of inflammatory activity. BRBNS is a rare syndrome of vascular malformations caused by the TEK mutation associated with numerous lesions of the skin and gastrointestinal tract. We present a case report of 41 year old man with severe anemia with recurrent bleedings. The detailed clinical, endoscopical and histopathological description is given as a wide range of differential diagnosis of vascular lesions based on pathophysiology and updated classification of vascular lesions. Cartan matrices and quasi-Cartan matrices play an important role in such areas as Lie theory, representation theory, and algebraic graph theory. It is known that each (connected) positive definite quasi-Cartan matrix A ∈ Mn(Z) is Z-equivalent with the Cartan matrix of a Dynkin diagram, called the Dynkin type of A. We present a symbolic, graph-theoretic algorithm to compute the Dynkin type of A, of the pessimistic arithmetic (word) complexity O(n2), significantly improving the existing algorithms. As an application we note that our algorithm can be used as a positive definiteness test for an arbitrary quasi-Cartan matrix, more efficient than standard tests. Moreover, we apply the algorithm to study a class of (symmetric and non-symmetric) quasi-Cartan matrices related to Nakayama algebras. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

World Class Manufacturing system consists of ten technical and ten managerial pillars. These, impacting directly and indirectly on each other, generate the flow of internal processes. Two of the mentioned pillars, Early Product Management (EPM) and Cost Deployment (CD) play a special role in the system, because they create a future strategic management of a company influencing design engineering, manufacturing and economy [1, 2]. Referring to the author's previous publications on Early Product Management methodology [3, 4], the role of Cost Deployment pillar in the new product launch remains an important issue. Additionally, there is a noticeable lack of publications in this specific field of the WCM system. Therefore, a proper understanding of the relationship between these two technical pillars is the basis for effective project management for the implementation of new products. In this article, the correlation between EPM and CD will be highlighted whereas some critical remarks will be indicated. The main part of the article will describe: the current approach to project management according to the standards set by the WCM system and recommended improvements originated from EPM and CD pillars. The quality scientific methods used in this article are based on a case study of internal processes in an international plant specializing in agriculture machinery production and include elements of direct observation and theoretical analysis and synthesis. This paper refers to the presented issues in practical terms on the example of the methodology of managing of new launch product projects in terms of cost management. The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the problem of the cost factor generated during the design phase and early implementation of the new product into production, which will enable effective cost management of new implementation projects.
