The activity of passive content consumers on social media sites is typically difficult to measure. This paper explores the activity of a subset of such consumers by looking at the influence on Wikipedia pageviews of one large Reddit community which frequently links to Wikipedia articles. The subreddit used in this analysis, /r/todayilearned (TIL), features a large number of posts on an eclectic set of topics, but excludes current events, which helps rule out the primary threat to being able to make causal statements. Wikipedia's public hourly pageview data provides a unique opportunity to study the influence of a Reddit post on a Wikipedia page at different time horizons. We here present analyses using posts from 2012 in TIL, showing that the week in which a post references a specific Wikipedia article is associated with a substantial increase in pageviews relative to prior and successive weeks. We then apply functional PC A to the dataset in order to characterize pageview dynamics. We also provide a qualitative analysis of the subset of Wikipedia topics posted to Reddit.

27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 1806-1808, When mass producing crystalline silicon solar cells, the ability to provide an increasingly more efficient product while reducing material costs is vital to the long term survival of any cell manufacturer. We will discuss herein how this goal can be achieved by reducing the silver usage in back side interconnect pastes. Standard back side patterns (bus bars, solder pads) can have a wide variety of designs depending on the exact technology; in any case, there is the necessary evil that a considerable quantity of silver must be deposited to provide an ideal solder joint. Recent uncertainty in the price of silver as a raw material has put a great strain on the industry to reduce its usage in metallization pastes. This work will demonstrate that it is very possible to reduce the amount of silver in back contact pastes by as much as 30% or more over current pastes that are commercially available while providing acceptable adhesion. Since low-silver products such as these are still very new to the market, many challenges must be overcome to ensure that the resulting low silver containing pastes will support the long module lifetimes promised by manufacturers. Testing procedures and methods of data analysis pertaining to these products will also be discussed.

Flood pulse inundation of riparian forests alters rates of nutrient retention and organic matter processing in the aquatic ecosystems formed in the forest interior. Along the Middle Rio Grande (New Mexico, USA), impoundment and levee construction have created riparian forests that differ in their inter-flood intervals (IFIs) because some floodplains are still regularly inundated by the flood pulse (i.e., connected), while other floodplains remain isolated from flooding (i.e., disconnected). This research investigates how ecosystem responses to the flood pulse relate to forest IFI by quantifying nutrient and organic matter dynamics in the Rio Grande floodplain during three years of experimental flooding of the disconnected floodplain and during a single year of natural flooding of the connected floodplain. Surface and subsurface conditions in paired sites (control, flood) established in the two floodplain types were monitored to address metabolic and biogeochemical responses. Compared to dry controls, rates of respiration in the flooded sites increased by up to three orders of magnitude during the flood pulse. In the disconnected forest, month-long experimental floods produced widespread anoxia of four-week duration during each of the three years of flooding. In contrast, water in the connected floodplain remained well oxygenated (3-8 ppm). Material budgets for experimental floods showed the disconnected floodplain to be a sink for inorganic nitrogen and suspended solids, but a potential source of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). Compared to the main stem of the Rio Grande, flood-water on the connected floodplain contained less nitrate, but comparable concentrations of DOC, phosphate-phosphorus, and ammonium-nitrogen. Results suggest that floodplain IFI drives metabolic and biogeochemical responses during the flood pulse. Impoundment and fragmentation have altered floodplains from a mosaic of patches with variable IFI to a bimodal distribution. Relatively predictable flooding occurs in the connected forest, while inundation of the disconnected forest occurs only as the result of managed application of water. In semiarid floodplains, water is scarce except during the flood pulse. Ecosystem responses to the flood pulse are related to the IFI and other measures of flooding history that help describe spatial variation in ecosystem function.

This paper is a compilation of three reports written over the 1993-96 period in the development and testing of a cadastral surveying and mapping methodology to support land registration. The sections cover (1) fieldwork to evaluate options for cadastral surveying and mapping in Albania, (2) the results on defining and testing methodology utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and on the costs and benefits of various surveying and mapping options, and (3) further testing in 1995 of the newly developed GPS methodology.
