Digital currencies have become popular in the last decade due to their non-dependency and decentralized nature. The price of these currencies has seen a lot of fluctuations at times, which has increased the need for prediction. As their most popular, Bitcoin(BTC) has become a research hotspot. The main challenge and trend of digital currencies, especially BTC, is price fluctuations, which require studying the basic price prediction model. This research presents a classification and regression model based on stack deep learning that uses a wavelet to remove noise to predict movements and prices of BTC at different time intervals. The proposed model based on the stacking technique uses models based on deep learning, especially neural networks and transformers, for one, seven, thirty and ninety-day forecasting. Three feature selection models, Chi2, RFE and Embedded, were also applied to the data in the pre-processing stage. The classification model achieved 63\% accuracy for predicting the next day and 64\%, 67\% and 82\% for predicting the seventh, thirty and ninety days, respectively. For daily price forecasting, the percentage error was reduced to 0.58, while the error ranged from 2.72\% to 2.85\% for seven- to ninety-day horizons. The light scattering experiment establishes a relationship between refractive index fluctuations and fractal dimension in weakly scattering tissue-like media. Based on the box-counting approach, an analytical model is developed and shows that the fractal dimension has a functional dependency on the structural disorder or refractive index fluctuation for short-range correlation and approximately linearly depends on each other for tissue-like media. Several parametric imaging systems can be connected using this approach. Further, tissue's weak multifractality optical scattering is explored using the box-counting method. Biofilms are resistant microbial cell aggregates that pose risks to health and food industries and produce environmental contamination. Accurate and efficient detection and prevention of biofilms are challenging and demand interdisciplinary approaches. This multidisciplinary research reports the application of a deep learning-based artificial intelligence (AI) model for detecting biofilms produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa with high accuracy. Aptamer DNA templated silver nanocluster (Ag-NC) was used to prevent biofilm formation, which produced images of the planktonic states of the bacteria. Large-volume bright field images of bacterial biofilms were used to design the AI model. In particular, we used U-Net with ResNet encoder enhancement to segment biofilm images for AI analysis. Different degrees of biofilm structures can be efficiently detected using ResNet18 and ResNet34 backbones. This paper investigated the impact of Egypt's accession to the BRICS bloc by studying the participation rate of BRICS countries in Egypt, as well as the exposure rate and the ratio of foreign investment of BRICS countries in Egypt to the total foreign investment in Egypt, as well as Egypt's export opportunities in the BRICS markets and the impact of these variables on the ratio of foreign assets in Egypt during the period from 2000 to 2024, In order to predict the impact of Egypt's accession to the BRICS bloc in the coming years as well. The study used the ARDL model to determine the impact of the four independent variables on the dependent variable (foreign assets), which is the ratio of foreign assets. It also used automatic ARIMA model to predict the values of the study variables during the period from 2024 to 2030.

Breast cancer stands as a prevalent cause of fatality among females on a global scale, with prompt detection playing a pivotal role in diminishing mortality rates. The utilization of ultrasound scans in the BUSI dataset for medical imagery pertaining to breast cancer has exhibited commendable segmentation outcomes through the application of UNet and UNet++ networks. Nevertheless, a notable drawback of these models resides in their inattention towards the temporal aspects embedded within the images. This research endeavors to enrich the UNet++ architecture by integrating LSTM layers and self-attention mechanisms to exploit temporal characteristics for segmentation purposes. Furthermore, the incorporation of a Multiscale Feature Extraction Module aims to grasp varied scale features within the UNet++. Through the amalgamation of our proposed methodology with data augmentation on the BUSI with GT dataset, an accuracy rate of 98.88%, specificity of 99.53%, precision of 95.34%, sensitivity of 91.20%, F1-score of 93.74, and Dice coefficient of 92.74% are achieved. These findings demonstrate competitiveness with cutting-edge techniques outlined in existing literature.

Skin cancer (SC) stands out as one of the most life-threatening forms of cancer, with its danger amplified if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Early intervention is critical, as it allows for more effective treatment approaches. In recent years, Deep Learning (DL) has emerged as a powerful tool in the early detection and skin cancer diagnosis (SCD). Although the DL seems promising for the diagnosis of skin cancer, still ample scope exists for improving model efficiency and accuracy. This paper proposes a novel approach to skin cancer detection, utilizing optimization techniques in conjunction with pre-trained networks and wavelet transformations. First, normalized images will undergo pre-trained networks such as Densenet-121, Inception, Xception, and MobileNet to extract hierarchical features from input images. After feature extraction, the feature maps are passed through a Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) layer to capture low and high-frequency components. Then the self-attention module is integrated to learn global dependencies between features and focus on the most relevant parts of the feature maps. The number of neurons and optimization of the weight vectors are performed using three new swarm-based optimization techniques, such as Modified Gorilla Troops Optimizer (MGTO), Improved Gray Wolf Optimization (IGWO), and Fox optimization algorithm. Evaluation results demonstrate that optimizing weight vectors using optimization algorithms can enhance diagnostic accuracy and make it a highly effective approach for SCD. The proposed method demonstrates substantial improvements in accuracy, achieving top rates of 98.11% with the MobileNet + Wavelet + FOX and DenseNet + Wavelet + Fox combination on the ISIC-2016 dataset and 97.95% with the Inception + Wavelet + MGTO combination on the ISIC-2017 dataset, which improves accuracy by at least 1% compared to other methods.

Deep learning methods have established a significant place in image classification. While prior research has focused on enhancing final outcomes, the opaque nature of the decision-making process in these models remains a concern for experts. Additionally, the deployment of these methods can be problematic in resource-limited environments. This paper tackles the inherent black-box nature of these models by providing real-time explanations during the training phase, compelling the model to concentrate on the most distinctive and crucial aspects of the input. Furthermore, we employ established quantization techniques to address resource constraints. To assess the effectiveness of our approach, we explore how quantization influences the interpretability and accuracy of Convolutional Neural Networks through a comparative analysis of saliency maps from standard and quantized models. Quantization is implemented during the training phase using the Parameterized Clipping Activation method, with a focus on the MNIST and FashionMNIST benchmark datasets. We evaluated three bit-width configurations (2-bit, 4-bit, and mixed 4/2-bit) to explore the trade-off between efficiency and interpretability, with each configuration designed to highlight varying impacts on saliency map clarity and model accuracy. The results indicate that while quantization is crucial for implementing models on resource-limited devices, it necessitates a trade-off between accuracy and interpretability. Lower bit-widths result in more pronounced reductions in both metrics, highlighting the necessity of meticulous quantization parameter selection in applications where model transparency is paramount. The study underscores the importance of achieving a balance between efficiency and interpretability in the deployment of neural networks.

Active metamaterials are engineered structures that possess novel properties that can be changed after the point of manufacture. Their novel properties arise predominantly from their physical structure, as opposed to their chemical composition and can be changed through means such as direct energy addition into wave paths, or physically changing/morphing the structure in response to both a user or environmental input. Active metamaterials are currently of wide interest to the physics community and encompass a range of sub-domains in applied physics (e.g. photonic, microwave, acoustic, mechanical, etc.). They possess the potential to provide solutions that are more suitable to specific applications, or which allow novel properties to be produced which cannot be achieved with passive metamaterials, such as time-varying or gain enhancement effects. They have the potential to help solve some of the important current and future problems faced by the advancement of modern society, such as achieving net-zero, sustainability, healthcare and equality goals. Despite their huge potential, the added complexity of their design and operation, compared to passive metamaterials creates challenges to the advancement of the field, particularly beyond theoretical and lab-based experiments. This roadmap brings together experts in all types of active metamaterials and across a wide range of areas of applied physics. The objective is to provide an overview of the current state of the art and the associated current/future challenges, with the hope that the required advances identified create a roadmap for the future advancement and application of this field.

Metasurfaces are key to the development of flat optics and nanophotonic devices, offering significant advantages in creating structural colors and high-quality factor cavities. Multi-layer metasurfaces (MLMs) further amplify these benefits by enhancing light-matter interactions within individual nanopillars. However, the numerous design parameters involved make traditional simulation tools impractical and time-consuming for optimizing MLMs. This highlights the need for more efficient approaches to accelerate their design. In this work, we introduce NanoPhotoNet, an AI-driven design tool based on a hybrid deep neural network (DNN) model that combines convolutional neural networks (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks. NanoPhotoNet enhances the design and optimization of MLMs, achieving a prediction accuracy of over 98.3% and a speed improvement of 50,000x compared to conventional methods. The tool enables MLMs to produce structural colors beyond the standard RGB region, expanding the RGB gamut area by 163%. Furthermore, we demonstrate the generation of tunable structural colors, extending the metasurface functionality to tunable color filters. These findings present a powerful method for applying NanoPhotoNet to MLMs, enabling strong light-matter interactions in applications such as tunable nanolasers and reconfigurable beam steering.

Fully sparse 3D detection has attracted an increasing interest in the recent years. However, the sparsity of the features in these frameworks challenges the generation of proposals because of the limited diffusion process. In addition, the quest for efficiency has led to only few work on vision-assisted fully sparse models. In this paper, we propose FSMDet (Fully Sparse Multi-modal Detection), which use visual information to guide the LiDAR feature diffusion process while still maintaining the efficiency of the pipeline. Specifically, most of fully sparse works focus on complex customized center fusion diffusion/regression operators. However, we observed that if the adequate object completion is performed, even the simplest interpolation operator leads to satisfactory results. Inspired by this observation, we split the vision-guided diffusion process into two modules: a Shape Recover Layer (SRLayer) and a Self Diffusion Layer (SDLayer). The former uses RGB information to recover the shape of the visible part of an object, and the latter uses a visual prior to further spread the features to the center region. Experiments demonstrate that our approach successfully improves the performance of previous fully sparse models that use LiDAR only and reaches SOTA performance in multimodal models. When objects are packed in a cluster, physical interactions are unavoidable. Such interactions emerge because of the objects geometric features; some of these features promote entanglement, while others create repulsion. When entanglement occurs, the cluster exhibits a global, complex behaviour, which arises from the stochastic interactions between objects. We hereby refer to such a cluster as an entangled granular metamaterial. We investigate the geometrical features of the objects which make up the cluster, henceforth referred to as grains, that maximise entanglement. We hypothesise that a cluster composed from grains with high propensity to tangle, will also show propensity to interact with a second cluster of tangled objects. To demonstrate this, we use the entangled granular metamaterials to perform complex robotic picking tasks, where conventional grippers struggle. We employ an electromagnet to attract the metamaterial (ferromagnetic) and drop it onto a second cluster of objects (targets, non-ferromagnetic). When the electromagnet is re-activated, the entanglement ensures that both the metamaterial and the targets are picked, with varying degrees of physical engagement that strongly depend on geometric features. Interestingly, although the metamaterials structural arrangement is random, it creates repeatable and consistent interactions with a second tangled media, enabling robust picking of the latter.

We provide the phase diagram of a 2-parameter spin-1 chain that has a symmetry-protected topological (SPT) Haldane phase using computational algorithms along with tensor-network tools. We improve previous results, showing the existence of a new phase and new triple points. New striking features are the triple end of the Haldane phase and the complexity of phases bordering the Haldane phase in proximity allowing moving to nearby non-SPT phases via small perturbations. The advent of the digital age has driven the development of coherent optical modems--devices that modulate the amplitude and phase of light in multiple polarization states. These modems transmit data through fiber optic cables that are thousands of kilometers in length at data rates exceeding one terabit per second. This remarkable technology is made possible through near-THz-rate programmable control and sensing of the full optical wavefield. While coherent optical modems form the backbone of telecommunications networks around the world, their extraordinary capabilities also provide unique opportunities for imaging. Here, we repurpose off-the-shelf coherent optical modems to introduce full-wavefield lidar: a type of random modulation continuous wave lidar that simultaneously measures depth, axial velocity, and polarization. We demonstrate this modality by combining a 74 GHz-bandwidth coherent optical modem with free-space coupling optics and scanning mirrors. We develop a time-resolved image formation model for this system and formulate a maximum-likelihood reconstruction algorithm to recover depth, velocity, and polarization information at each scene point from the modem's raw transmitted and received symbols. Neural Network Language Models (NNLMs) for Virtual Assistants (VAs) are generally language-, region-, and in some cases, device-dependent, which increases the effort to scale and maintain them. Combining NNLMs for one or more of the categories is one way to improve scalability. In this work, we combine regional variants of English to build a ``World English'' NNLM for on-device VAs. In particular, we investigate the application of adapter bottlenecks to model dialect-specific characteristics in our existing production NNLMs {and enhance the multi-dialect baselines}. We find that adapter modules are more effective in modeling dialects than specializing entire sub-networks. Based on this insight and leveraging the design of our production models, we introduce a new architecture for World English NNLM that meets the accuracy, latency, and memory constraints of our single-dialect models., Comment: Accepted in ICASSP 2024

Accurate classification of objects in 3D point clouds is a significant problem in several applications, such as autonomous navigation and augmented/virtual reality scenarios, which has become a research hot spot. In this paper, we presented a deep learning strategy for 3D object classification in augmented reality. The proposed approach is a combination of the GRU and LSTM. LSTM networks learn longer dependencies well, but due to the number of gates, it takes longer to train; on the other hand, GRU networks have a weaker performance than LSTM, but their training speed is much higher than GRU, which is The speed is due to its fewer gates. The proposed approach used the combination of speed and accuracy of these two networks. The proposed approach achieved an accuracy of 0.99 in the 4,499,0641 points dataset, which includes eight classes (unlabeled, man-made terrain, natural terrain, high vegetation, low vegetation, buildings, hardscape, scanning artifacts, cars). Meanwhile, the traditional machine learning approaches could achieve a maximum accuracy of 0.9489 in the best case.
