36. Volatilities of the Saturated Vapor Components of UCl4–RbCl Molten Mixtures.

Abstract

For the first time, the volatilities of UCl4 and RbCl from their molten mixtures containing 2.0, 5.0, 12.3, 25.2, 32.6, and 48.8 mol % UCl4 are measured in the temperature range from 890 to 1200 K using the transpiration technique. The chemical composition of the saturated vapors is determined. The commensurable amounts of binary compounds with the presumably RbUCl5 composition are found to be present in the vapor phase along with UCl4 and RbCl monomers and Rb2Cl2 dimers. The variation of the temperature and concentration of the UCl4–RbCl molten mixtures with significant negative deviations from ideal behavior can change the volatility of uranium tetrachloride by several orders of magnitude. The laws of changing the volatility of uranium tetrachloride from its molten mixtures with various alkaline metal chlorides are discussed. The experimental data obtained by us earlier and in this work indicate that, in the medium of molten alkaline metal chlorides, the U4+ ions enter the composition of complex anionic groups, the strength of which increases with a decrease in the uranium ion concentration in solutions and a decrease in the counterpolarizing effect of the alkaline cations on the anionic groups on going from LiCl to CsCl. This leads to a decrease in the volatility of UCl4 in the same direction. An almost linear change in as a function of the inverse radius (ionic moment) of the alkaline cations is observed. Abstract

The article discusses the results of using different types of test items in the process of teaching biology. In the context of the need to prepare students of general secondary education institutions to perform the tasks of external independent assessment in biology, there is a need for new assessment tools, including test technologies based on modern theories and methods of pedagogical measurements, which provide an opportunity to assess the level of mastery of key or subject competence. Traditional methods of control (dictation, oral questioning) are not able to fully satisfy all the requirements, since they are not sufficiently formalized about the possibility of comparison with the standard. Therefore, testing is most often chosen as a tool for pedagogical measurement. Therefore, the purpose of this article was to investigate and analyze the performance of test tasks by students of the secondary education institutions in biology. Our research has shown that the pupils coped better with the tasks of establishing correspondence, and worse with the tasks of the «silent drawings» type. In our opinion, this is because tasks such as «silent drawings» are rarely offered for execution, or the quality of the image leaves much to be desired

Abstract

The aim of the article was to analyse the scientific and pedagogical heritage of Borys Mykolaiovych Polskyi (1928-2020) – a Candidate of Biological Sciences, an Associate Professor of the Department of Botany at the Faculty of Natural Geography at the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko, which focuses on theory, methodology and practices of lectureship in soil geography, soil science, basics of agriculture and nature conversation at higher education institutions of pedagogical orientation as well as biology and geography lectureship at secondary education institutions. It is stated that B. M. Polskyi is the author of more than 150 scientific and methodical works (including education programmes, textbooks, workshops, books, methodical advice, articles for scientific collections and periodicals, geographical maps, science photography), which, even at present, remain actual in terms of organisation of higher and secondary education in biology and geography in Ukraine. The following studies of the scientist and the educator were subject to a deeper examination: “The Methodology of Soil Research in Secondary Schools” (1960), “Practical and Intersessional Assignments in Soil Geography and Basics of Soil Science” (1972), “Accounts of The Soil” (1977), “The Basics of Agriculture” (1991), “The Basics of Agriculture. Workshop” (1993), “The Basics of Biology” (2004, 2009). It was denoted that the complete bibliography of B. M. Polskyi’s works as well as his role on his students’ way to becoming scientists and educators required further study.
