1. A survey on personal information management status of graduate students of Shaheed Chamran University of Ahwaz in personal electronic information collection based on the Jones Model

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of personal information management (PIM) of graduate students of Shahid Chamran University of Ahwaz from three aspects of knowledge, attitude and seven activities of personal information management (including retrieval, storage, organization, maintenance, information flow management, measuring and evaluation, and sense making) based on Jones's model. Research has been a survey of descriptive-analytic type. Methodology: This study was a descriptive-analytic survey and Amuzandeh’s modified questionnaire (2011) was used for data gathering. The research population consisted of 4422 graduate students of Shahid Chamran Univerity of Ahvaz that 354 of them were selected based on Krejcie-Morgan sample size table. Of the 354 distributed questionnaires 304 were filled and returned (85.87% response rate). For data analysis, descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) as well as inferential statistics (t-test and variance analysis) were used to determine the significance of differences. Results: The descriptive findings of the research showed that the means of knowledge, attitude and total of seven PIM activities of students were 3.20, 3.97 and 2.86 respectively, and the total mean of their PIM activities was 3.2 and at moderate level. . In this research, the effect of four variables of gender, age, faculty and educational level on the students’ PIM activities was examined and it was found that there was a significant difference between the students’ PIM activities among the different faculties with the significance level of 0.04 while there were no difference regarding gender, educational level, and age group.
