Abstract

application/pdf, This paper proposes a method, by using datamining approach, for knowledge discovery from historical usage data of a photovoltaic power generation apparatus, which is a central element of a home energy management system (HEMS). The discovered knowledge is intended to use as a basic principle to save energy in a home with HEMS. Each home has different situations of apparatuses and of preferences, thus it is necessary taking into account such differences in practical methods of energy saving. In order to achieve this goal, the obtained knowledge has enough readability and understandability for non-expert person. For this reason, we point out that traditional approaches mostly based on artificial neural networks are inadequate in HEMS environment. In this paper we show how the proposed method makes a solution for the problem.

5. Basic Study on the Charging Methods of the Stand-alone Hybrid Power Generation System with Small Wind Power and Solar Cell

Abstract

application/pdf, This paper describes two charging methods of the stand-alone hybrid power generation system with small wind power (WG) and solar cell (PV). In one method, the generated electric powers with WG and PV are controlled by one apparatus and charged to the same batteries. In another method, these powers are controlled by individual apparatus and charged to each battery. The energy is supplied to the load from the higher voltage battery. From the basic experimental study, we obtain the suggestive result that the latter method is effective.

6. Boost-Type AC-DC Converter with Constant Switching Frequency for Reduction of Harmonic Components in Input Current

Abstract

application/pdf, A single-phase voltage-source type rectifier circuit generates many harmonic components in the input current. These generated harmonics mayc ause various disturbances in the utility's distribution. As the reduction method of these harmonics, a boost-type AC-DC converter with the hysteresis current control (HCC) is most frequently investigated. However, this control method has a major drawback that the switching frequency varies over a wide range. This brings forth a complicated ftlter design. In this paper, we propose the method for applying the PWM control with the constant switctting frequency to two types of boost-type AC-DC converter.This control method offers advantages like the fixed frequency of the generated harmonics and the simplified control signal generation. We obtain quantitatively the reduction effect of harmonic currents by the calculations, including the comparison between these two types of converter. From the results, it is clarified that this method is veiy effective and useful.

Moreover, in this paper we consider the simulation for hybrid generation system of this wind turbine and photovoltage based on the data of wind velocity and solar radiation at the local weather bureau station in Matsumoto, which is the nearest station from the hut, measured by the Meteorological Agency.

Abstract

The article discusses the prediction methods that are applicable in a case where an infinitely long rail is arranged obliquely to a power line. The differences among the matrix method, the parallel section method and the graphic representation method are discussed, as well as the effect of the obliquity on the prediction accuracy. Accurate prediction of the screening effect of distributed grounded conductors such as rail and water supply pipe is important.

Abstract

A hierarchical matching is the most efficient way to recognize a 3-D object. In most conventional methods of 3-D object recognition, a hierarchical structure is formed after the detailed 3D structure of an object has been extracted by dividing it coarsely. This approach is very inefficient, since it is difficult to obtain a detailed 3D structure initially in addition to a large amount of computation time. This paper proposes a method which extracts a multiscale 3D structure directly from coarse to fine. In this method, a space containing an object is divided into coarse voxels, and a ‘3D voting’ is applied. This voting adds a certain value to a voxel through which a back-projected line connects the center of the camera lens and a feature point on an image. A voxel having a high value is regarded as a region containing a 3D feature point, and this is extracted. Extraction of a hierarchical structure is carried out by repeating the dividing process from coarse voxels to fine voxels so that the operation becomes efficient. This paper also analyzes the effects of the deviation of a feature point in an image and the deviation of the camera center on the 3D voting. The paper shows also that an application of a &nubla;2G filter to the voxel space (after 3D voting) is effective in suppressing the errors due to the deviations.
