The computation of the domination-type parameters is a challenging problem in Cartesian product graphs. We present an algorithmic method to compute the $2$-domination number of the Cartesian product of a path with small order and any cycle, involving the $(\min,+)$ matrix product. We establish some theoretical results that provide the algorithms necessary to compute that parameter, and the main challenge to run such algorithms comes from the large size of the matrices used, which makes it necessary to improve the techniques to handle these objects. We analyze the performance of the algorithms on modern multicore CPUs and on GPUs and we show the advantages over the sequential implementation. The use of these platforms allows us to compute the $2$-domination number of cylinders such that their paths have at most $12$ vertices.

We study the connected sum of Hopf links in $S^3$. Particularly, we compute the entanglement entropy (EE) as a function of the number of link components. We find evidence of lower and upper bounds for the entanglement entropy. We show that the $SU(2)$ theory exhibits sensitivity to the parity of links. We also find evidence suggesting the existence of a well-defined limit of the large number of link components., Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures

Quantum entanglement and quantum entropy are crucial concepts in the study of multipartite quantum systems. In this work we show how the notion of concurrence vector, re-expressed in a particularly useful form, provides new insights and computational tools for the analysis of both. In particular, using this approach for a general multipartite pure state, one can easily prove known relations in an easy way and to build up new relations between the concurrences associated with the different bipartitions. The approach is also useful to derive sufficient conditions for genuine entanglement in generic multipartite systems that are computable in polynomial time. From an entropy-of-entanglement perspective, the approach is powerful to prove properties of the Tsallis-$2$ entropy, such as the subadditivity, and to derive new ones, e.g. a modified version of the strong subadditivity which is always fulfilled; thanks to the purification theorem these results hold for any multipartite state, whether pure or mixed., Comment: Version matching the publication in Quantum Information Processing

Without AGN feedback, simulated massive, star-forming galaxies become too compact relative to observed galaxies at z<2. In this paper, we perform high-resolution re-simulations of a massive (M_star~10^11 M_sol) galaxy at z~2.3, drawn from the Feedback in Realistic Environments (FIRE) project. In the simulation without AGN feedback, the galaxy experiences a rapid starburst and shrinking of its half-mass radius. We experiment with driving mechanical AGN winds, using a state-of-the-art hyper-Lagrangian refinement technique to increase particle resolution. These winds reduce the gas surface density in the inner regions of the galaxy, suppressing the compact starburst and maintaining an approximately constant half-mass radius. Using radiative transfer, we study the impact of AGN feedback on the magnitude and extent of the multi-wavelength continuum emission. When AGN winds are included, the suppression of the compact, dusty starburst results in lowered flux at FIR wavelengths (due to decreased star formation) but increased flux at optical-to-near-IR wavelengths (due to decreased dust attenuation, in spite of the lowered star formation rate), relative to the case without AGN winds. The FIR half-light radius decreases from ~1 kpc to ~0.1 kpc in <40 Myr when AGN winds are not included, but increases to ~2 kpc when they are. Interestingly, the half-light radius at optical-NIR wavelengths remains approximately constant over 35 Myr, for simulations with and without AGN winds. In the case without winds, this occurs despite the rapid compaction, and is due to heavy dust obscuration in the inner regions of the galaxy. The future developments of three-dimensional magnetic nanotechnology require the control of domain wall dynamics by means of current pulses. While this has been extensively studied in planar magnetic strips (planar nanowires), few reports exist in cylindrical geometry, where Bloch point domain walls are expected to have intriguing properties. Here we report this investigation in cylindrical magnetic Ni nanowires with geometrical notches. Experimental work based on synchrotron X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) combined with photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM) indicates that large current densities induce domain wall nucleation while smaller currents move domain walls preferably against the current direction. In the region where no pinning centers are present we found domain wall velocity of about 1 km/s. The domain wall motion along current was also detected in the vicinity of the notch region. Pinning of domain walls has been observed not only at geometrical constrictions but also outside of them. Thermal modelling indicates that large current densities temporarily raise the temperature in the nanowire above the Curie temperature leading to nucleation of domain walls during the system cooling. Micromagnetic modelling with spin-torque effect shows that for intermediate current densities Bloch point domain walls with chirality parallel to the Oersted field propagate antiparallel to the current direction. In other cases, domain walls can be bounced from the notches and/or get pinned outside their positions. We thus find that current is not only responsible for the domain wall propagation but is also a source of pinning due to the Oersted field action.

We discuss quantum entanglement and violation of Bell inequalities in the $H\rightarrow ZZ$ decay, in particular when the two $Z-$bosons decay into light leptons. Although such process implies an important suppression of the statistics, this is traded by clean signals from a "quasi maximally-entangled" system, which makes it very promising to check these crucial phenomena at high energy. In this paper we devise a novel framework to extract from $H \to ZZ$ data all significant information related to this goal, in particular spin correlation observables. In this context we derive sufficient and necessary conditions for entanglement in terms of only two parameters. Likewise, we obtain a sufficient and improved condition for the violation of Bell-type inequalities. The numerical analysis shows that with a luminosity of $L = 300 \text{fb}^{-1}$ entanglement can be probed at $> 3\sigma$ level. For $L = 3 \text{ab}^{-1}$ (HL-LHC) entanglement can be probed beyond the $5\sigma$ level, while the sensitivity to a violation of the Bell inequalities is at the $4.5\sigma$ level

The Two-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) is one of the most popular and natural extensions of the Higgs sector; but it has two potential fine-tuning problems, related to the electroweak (EW) breaking and the requirement of alignment with the SM Higgs boson. We have quantified the fine-tunings obtaining analytical expressions, both in terms of the initial 2HDM parameters and the physical ones (masses, mixing angles, etc.). We also provide simple approximate expressions. We have taken into account that the fine-tunings are not independent and removed the "double counting" by projecting the variations of the alignment onto the constant-${\rm v}^2$ hypersurface. The EW and the alignment fine-tunings become severe in different, even opposite, regions of the parameter space, namely in the regimes of large and small extra-Higgs masses, respectively; emerging an intermediate region, $500\ {\rm GeV} \leq \{m_H, m_A, m_{H^\pm}\} \leq 700\ {\rm GeV}$, where both are acceptably small. We also discuss a remarkable trend that is not obvious at first glance. Namely, for large $\tan\beta$ both the EW and the alignment fine-tunings become mitigated. In consequence, the 2HDM becomes quite natural for $\tan\beta\geq {\cal O} (10)$, even if $m_H, m_A, m_{H^\pm}$ are as large as 1500 GeV. We explain why this is not the case for the 2HDM stemming from supersymmetry. We have illustrated all these trends by numerically analyzing several representative scenarios.

We develop a template method for the measurement of the polarisation of $t \bar t$ pairs produced in hadron collisions. The method would allow to extract the individual fractions of $t_L \bar t_L$, $t_R \bar t_R$, $t_L \bar t_R$ and $t_R \bar t_L$ pairs with a fit to data, where $L,R$ refer to the polarisation along any axis. These polarisation fractions have not been independently measured at present. Domination-type parameters are difficult to manage in Cartesian product graphs and there is usually no general relationship between the parameter in both factors and in the product graph. This is the situation of the domination number, the Roman domination number or the $2$-domination number, among others. Contrary to what happens with the domination number and the Roman domination number, the $2$-domination number remains unknown in cylinders, that is, the Cartesian product of a cycle and a path and in this paper, we will compute this parameter in the cylinders with small cycles. We will develop two algorithms involving the $(\min,+)$ matrix product that will allow us to compute the desired values of $\gamma_2(C_n\Box P_m)$, with $3\leq n\leq 15$ and $m\geq 2$. We use the recently developed finite cluster typical medium approach to study the Anderson localization transition in three dimensions. Applying our method to the box and binary alloy disorder distributions, we find a fast convergence with the cluster size. We demonstrate the importance of the typical medium environment and the non-local spatial correlations for the proper characterization of the localization transition. As the cluster size increases, our typical medium cluster method recovers the correct critical disorder strength for the transition. Our findings highlight the importance of the non-local cluster corrections for capturing the localization behavior of the mobility edge trajectories. Our results demonstrate that the typical medium cluster approach developed here provides a consistent and systematic description of the Anderson localization transition in the framework of the effective medium embedding schemes., Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures

End-to-end mission performance simulators (E2ES) are suitable tools to accelerate satellite mission development from concet to deployment. One core element of these E2ES is the generation of synthetic scenes that are observed by the various instruments of an Earth Observation mission. The generation of these scenes rely on Radiative Transfer Models (RTM) for the simulation of light interaction with the Earth surface and atmosphere. However, the execution of advanced RTMs is impractical due to their large computation burden. Classical interpolation and statistical emulation methods of pre-computed Look-Up Tables (LUT) are therefore common practice to generate synthetic scenes in a reasonable time. This work evaluates the accuracy and computation cost of interpolation and emulation methods to sample the input LUT variable space. The results on MONDTRAN-based top-of-atmosphere radiance data show that Gaussian Process emulators produced more accurate output spectra than linear interpolation at a fraction of its time. High-performance thermoelectric oxides could offer a great energy solution for integrated and embedded applications in sensing and electronics industries. Oxides, however, often suffer from low Seebeck coefficient when compared with other classes of thermoelectric materials. In search of high-performance thermoelectric oxides, we present a comprehensive density functional investigation, based on GGA$+U$ formalism, surveying the 3d and 4d transition-metal-containing ferrites of the spinel structure. Consequently, we predict MnFe$_2$O$_4$ and RhFe$_2$O$_4$ have Seebeck coefficients of $\sim \pm 600$ $\mu$V K$^{-1}$ at near room temperature, achieved by light hole and electron doping. Furthermore, CrFe$_2$O$_4$ and MoFe$_2$O$_4$ have even higher ambient Seebeck coefficients at $\sim \pm 700$ $\mu$V K$^{-1}$. In the latter compounds, the Seebeck coefficient is approximately a flat function of temperature up to $\sim 700$ K, offering a tremendous operational convenience. Additionally, MoFe$_2$O$_4$ doped with $10^{19}$ holes/cm$^3$ has a calculated thermoelectric power factor of $689.81$ $\mu$W K$^{-2}$ m$^{-1}$ at $300$ K, and $455.67$ $\mu$W K$^{-2}$ m$^{-1}$ at $600$ K. Inspired by the gauge/YBE correspondence this paper derives some star-triangle type relations from dualities in $2d$ $\mathcal{N}=(0,2)$ $USp(2N)$ supersymmetric quiver gauge theories. To be precise, we study two cases. The first case is the Intriligator-Pouliot duality in $2d$ $\mathcal{N}=(0,2)$ $USp(2N)$ theories. The description is performed explicitly for $N=1,2,3,4,5$ and also for $N=3k+2$, which generalizes the situation in $N=2,5$. For $N=1$ a triangle identity is obtained. For $N=2,5$ it is found that the realization of duality implies slight variations of a star-triangle relation type (STR type). The values $N=3,4$ are associated to a similar version of the asymmetric STR. The second case is a new duality for $2d$ $\mathcal{N}=(0,2)$ $USp(2N)$ theories with matter in the antisymmetric tensor representation that arises from dimensional reduction of $4d$ $\mathcal{N}=1$ $USp(2N)$ Cs\'aki-Skiba-Schmaltz duality. It is shown that this duality is associated to a triangle type identity for any value of $N$. In all cases Boltzmann weights as well as interaction and normalization factors are completely determined. The paper considers the design of a nonlinear dissipative impulsive observer based on non-periodic discrete-time measurements. Sufficient conditions are derived for (i) exponential convergence of the observer in absence of measurement uncertainty, and (ii) input-to-state stability (ISS) with respect to measurement uncertainty, by combining notions from impulsive and dissipative systems theory. The conditions mainly include constraints on the minimum and maximum time between measurements depending on system characteristics, the correction gain and the desired ISS gain. We report on measurements of the hyperfine $A, B$ and $C$-constants of the $3d4s^2 ~^2D_{5/2}$ and $3d4s^2 ~^2D_{3/2}$ atomic states in $^{45}$Sc. High-precision atomic calculations of the hyperfine fields of these states and second-order corrections are performed, and are used to extract $C_{5/2}=-0.06(6)$ kHz and $C_{3/2}=+0.04(3)$ kHz from the data. These results are one order of magnitude more precise than the available literature. From the combined analysis of both atomic states, we infer the nuclear magnetic octupole moment $\Omega = -0.07(53) \mu_N b$, including experimental and atomic structure-related uncertainties. With a single valence proton outside of a magic calcium core, scandium is ideally suited to test a variety of nuclear models, and to investigate in-depth the many intriguing nuclear structure phenomena observed within the neighboring isotopes of calcium. We perform nuclear shell-model calculations of $\Omega$, and furthermore explore the use of Density Functional Theory for evaluating $\Omega$. From this, mutually consistent theoretical values of $\Omega$ are obtained, which are in agreement with the experimental value. This confirms atomic structure calculations possess the accuracy and precision required for magnetic octupole moment measurements, and shows that modern nuclear theory is capable of providing meaningful insight into this largely unexplored observable.

The perturbative expansion of Chern-Simons gauge theory leads to invariants of knots and links, the finite type invariants or Vassiliev invariants. It has been proven that at any order in perturbation theory the resulting expression is an invariant of that order. Bott-Taubes integrals on configuration spaces are introduced in the present context to write Feynman diagrams at a given order in perturbation theory in a geometrical and topological setting. One of the consequences of the configuration space formalism is that the resulting amplitudes are given in cohomological terms. This cohomological structure can be used to translate Bott-Taubes integrals into Chern-Simons perturbative amplitudes and vice versa. In this article this program is performed up to third order in the coupling constant. This expands some work previously worked out by Thurston. Finally we take advantage of these results to incorporate in the formalism a smooth and divergenceless vector field on the $3$-manifold. A future lepton collider, such as the proposed CLIC or ILC, would allow to study top quark properties with unprecedented precision. In this paper, we present a method to reconstruct the $t \bar{t}$ decay in the dilepton channel at future $e^+e^-$ colliders. We derive a simple, closed analytical expression for the neutrino four-momenta as a function of the $W$ boson mass and develop a maximization procedure to find the optimal solution for the reconstruction of the full $t \bar{t}$ event. We show that our method is able to reconstruct neutrino four-momenta with an error of less than $2 \, \%$ in $60 \, \%$ of the times. Finally, we test the performance of this reconstruction method in the calculation of the helicity fractions of the $W$ boson. A precise measurement of these observables could be used to probe new physics effects in the $Wtb$ vertex. We find that, from a large $t \bar{t}$ sample, our reconstruction method allows to calculate these observables with an accuracy better than $1 \, \%$., Comment: 17 pages, 5 figures, 3 tables
