Abstract

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) provoke ulcers and erosions in the gastrointestinal tract because nonsalicyclate NSAIDs increase basal gastric acid and cause histamine-stimulated acid secretion in humans. It is observed that NSAIDs cause pepsinogen secretion in pylorusligated rats, but the correlation with dosage is not established. Research confirms NSAIDs' effect on pepsinogen secretion and Ca(super 2+) on isolated chief cells.
