Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been improving the performance of systems for a diverse set of tasks and introduced a more interactive generation of personal agents. Despite the current trend of applying AI for a great amount of areas, we have not seen the same quantity of work being developed for the tourism sector. This paper reports on the main applications of AI systems developed for tourism and the current state of the art for this sector. The paper also provides an up-to-date survey of this field regarding several key works and systems that are applied to tourism, like Personal Agents, for providing a more interactive experience. We also carried out an in-depth research on systems for predicting traffic human flow, more accurate recommendation systems and even how geospatial is trying to display tourism data in a more informative way and prevent problems before they arise., Comment: bad content

Abstract

This work project intends to pilot joint value creation models for Ben & Jerry’s (B&J’s) Portugal. These models imply that a company's positive impact in the community generates business, creating incentives for it to continuously invest in socially responsible initiatives as part of its core business. Therefore, the aim is to raise awareness to B&J´s mission through a "Corporate Societal Marketing" strategy, where consumers are engaged to act upon social and environmental issues. As such, two pilot experiments and a comprehensive survey were pursued. Results showed that while Portuguese consumers were not aware of B&J´s values, awareness of the brand’s CSR positively affects perception on quality, loyalty, reputation, and could ultimately lead to an increase in brand consumption

Abstract

BackgroundMammography is considered the best imaging technique for breast cancer screening, and the radiographer plays an important role in its performance. Therefore, continuing education is critical to improving the performance of these professionals and thus providing better health care services. ObjectiveOur goal was to develop an e-learning course on breast imaging for radiographers, assessing its efficacy, effectiveness, and user satisfaction. MethodsA stratified randomized controlled trial was performed with radiographers and radiology students who already had mammography training, using pre- and post-knowledge tests, and satisfaction questionnaires. The primary outcome was the improvement in test results (percentage of correct answers), using intention-to-treat and per-protocol analysis. ResultsA total of 54 participants were assigned to the intervention (20 students plus 34 radiographers) with 53 controls (19+34). The intervention was completed by 40 participants (11+29), with 4 (2+2) discontinued interventions, and 10 (7+3) lost to follow-up. Abstract

The automatic detection and segmentation of the pectoral muscle in the medio-lateral oblique view of mammograms is essential for further analysis of breast anormalies. However, it is still a very difficult task since the sizes, shapes and intensity contrasts of pectoral muscles change greatly from image to image. In this paper, an algorithm based on the shortest path on a graph is proposed to automatically detect the pectoral muscle contour. To overcome the difficulties of searching for the path between a lateral and the top margins of the image, this is first transformed, using polar coordinates. In the transformed image, the muscle boundary in amongst the shortest paths between the top and the bottom rows. A comprehensive comparison with manually-drawn contours reveals the strength of the proposed method.
