Upgrading the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider with polarized electron beams opens a new program of precision physics at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. This white paper describes the physics potential of this `Chiral Belle' program. It includes projections for precision measurements of $\sin^2\theta_W$ that can be obtained from independent left-right asymmetry measurements of $e^+e^-$ transitions to pairs of electrons, muons, taus, charm and b-quarks. The $\sin^2\theta_W$ precision obtainable at SuperKEKB will match that of the LEP/SLC world average, but at the centre-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. Measurements of the couplings for muons, charm, and $b$-quarks will be substantially improved and the existing $3\sigma$ discrepancy between the SLC $A_{LR}$ and LEP $A_{FB}^b$ measurements will be addressed. Precision measurements of neutral current universality will be more than an order of magnitude more precise than currently available. As the energy scale is well away from the $Z^0$-pole, the precision measurements will have sensitivity to the presence of a parity-violating dark sector gauge boson, $Z_{\rm dark}$. The program also enables the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment $g-2$ form factor of the $\tau$ to be made at an unprecedented level of precision. A precision of $10^{-5}$ level is accessible with 40~ab$^{-1}$ and with more data it would start to approach the $10^{-6}$ level. This technique would provide the most precise information from the third generation about potential new physics explanations of the muon $g-2$ $4\sigma$ anomaly. Additional $\tau$ and QCD physics programs enabled or enhanced with having polarized electron beams are also discussed in this White Paper. We present GAZED- eye GAZe-guided EDiting for videos captured by a solitary, static, wide-angle and high-resolution camera. Eye-gaze has been effectively employed in computational applications as a cue to capture interesting scene content; we employ gaze as a proxy to select shots for inclusion in the edited video. Given the original video, scene content and user eye-gaze tracks are combined to generate an edited video comprising cinematically valid actor shots and shot transitions to generate an aesthetic and vivid representation of the original narrative. We model cinematic video editing as an energy minimization problem over shot selection, whose constraints capture cinematographic editing conventions. Gazed scene locations primarily determine the shots constituting the edited video. Autonomous camera systems are often subjected to an optimization/filtering operation to smoothen and stabilize the rough trajectory estimates. Most common filtering techniques do reduce the irregularities in data; however, they fail to mimic the behavior of a human cameraman. Global filtering methods modeling human camera operators have been successful; however, they are limited to offline settings. In this paper, we propose two online filtering methods called Cinefilters, which produce smooth camera trajectories that are motivated by cinematographic principles. The first filter (CineConvex) uses a sliding window-based convex optimization formulation, and the second (CineCNN) is a CNN based encoder-decoder model. We evaluate the proposed filters in two different settings, namely a basketball dataset and a stage performance dataset. Our models outperform previous methods and baselines on both quantitative and qualitative metrics. The CineConvex and CineCNN filters operate at about 250fps and 1000fps, respectively, with a minor latency (half a second), making them apt for a variety of real-time applications.

Collocated measurements of the mass concentrations of aerosol black carbon (BC) and composite aerosols near the surface were carried out along with spectral aerosol optical depths (AODs) from a high altitude station, Manora Peak in Central Himalayas, during a comprehensive aerosol field campaign in December 2004. Despite being a pristine location in the Shivalik Ranges of Central Himalayas, and having a monthly mean AOD (at 500 nm) of 0.059 $\pm$ 0.033 (typical to this site), total suspended particulate (TSP) concentration was in the range 15 - 40 micro g m^(-3) (mean value 27.1 $\pm$ 8.3 micro g m^(-3)). Interestingly, aerosol BC had a mean concentration of 1.36 $\pm$ 0.99 micro g m^(-3), contributed to ~5.0 $\pm$ 1.3 % to the composite aerosol mass. This large abundance of BC is found to have linkages to the human activities in the adjoining valley and to the boundary layer dynamics. Consequently, the inferred single scattering albedo lies in the range of 0.87 to 0.94 (mean value 0.90 $\pm$ 0.03), indicating significant aerosol absorption. The estimated aerosol radiative forcing was as low as 4.2 W m^(-2) at the surface, +0.7 W m^(-2) at the top of the atmosphere, implying an atmospheric forcing of +4.9 W m^(-2). Though absolute value of the atmospheric forcing is quite small, which arises primarily from the very low AOD (or the column abundance of aerosols), the forcing efficiency (forcing per unit optical depth) was $\sim$88 W m^(-2), which is attributed to the high BC mass fraction., Comment: 32 Pages, Accepted in JGR (Atmosphere)

We present, for the first time, spectral behaviour of aerosol optical depths (AODs) over Manora Peak, Nainital located at an altitude of $\sim$ 2 km in the Shivalik ranges of central Himalayas. The observations were carried out using a Multi-Wavelength solar Radiometer during January to December 2002. The main results of the study are extremely low AODs during winter, a remarkable increase to high values in summer and a distinct change in the spectral dependencies of AODs from a relatively steeper spectra during winter to a shallower one in summer. During transparent days, the AOD values lie usually below 0.08 while during dusty (turbid) days, it lies between 0.08 to 0.69 at 0.5 $\mu$m. The average AOD value at 0.5 $\mu$m during winters, particularly in January and February, is $\sim 0.03\pm0.01$. The mean aerosol extinction law at Manora Peak during 2002 is best represented by $0.10 \lambda^{-0.61}$. However during transparent days, which almost covers 40% of the time, it is represented by $0.02 \lambda^{-0.97}$. This value of wavelength exponent, representing reduced coarse concentration and presence of fine aerosols, indicates that the station measures aerosol in the free troposphere at least during part of the year., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, significantly shortened, main conclusions unchanged, accepted for publication in Jr. of Geophys. Aerosols, both natural and anthropogenic, play an important role in the atmospheric science, by imparting radiative forcing and perturbing the radiative balance of the Earth atmosphere system as well as by degrading the environment. To understand the effect of aerosols on our geo/biosphere system, it is essential to characterize their physical and chemical properties regionally because of the regional nature of their properties and the short lifetime. As most of the aerosol sources are of terrestrial origin the variability of their properties will be very large close to the surface. At higher altitudes, above the mixing region, and in the free troposphere, the aerosol characteristics have a more synoptic perspective; would be indicative of the background level and are useful to understand long-term impacts. Such systematic measurements of aerosols at high altitudes are practically non-existing in India. Realising the potential and need for such studies, an activity has been initiated at Manora Peak, Nainital in the Shivalik Hills of Central Himalayas at an altitude of $\sim$2 km.
