The genus Chikatunolepta n. gen. is proposed to accommodate yellow species of Monoleptites leaf-beetles up to now classified in the genus Nymphius Weise, 1900: Chikatunolepta buettikeri (Medvedev, 1996) n. comb. (type species), Ch. emir (Lopatin, 2006) n. comb., and Ch. millingeni (Pic, 1915) n. comb. = Nymphius artificiosus (Peyerimhoff, 1931) n. syn., = Nymphius friedmani (Lopatin, 2002) n. syn. The new genus is characterised by a pale body, large pronotum, peculiar structure of the abdomen, very long and thin aedeagus and long basimetatarsomere. Morphological characters of all included species are illustrated in detail.

Galerucinae is one of the most species-rich leaf beetle group with its greatest diversity occurring in tropical forests. There are 1680 nominal species of Afrotropical Galerucinae s. str. (without Alticini) described. Considering global diversity estimations, many unknown species can be presumed. Several taxa traditionally placed in “Monoleptites”, have been revised in the last twenty years. To date 259 species have been re-examined, revealing in 139 valid species and 120 mainly newly recognized synonyms. This large number of synonyms can mainly be ascribed to highly variable colour patterns, a typical character used for the identification of many chrysomelid species. Genitalic structures and molecular work can support a more precise allocation to species. Within around 72,000 specimens of galerucines s. str. from 48 museums and private collections, only 107 species were newly described. After revising approximately 15% of the Afrotropical galerucine fauna their species richness decreased from 259 to 246 species, a pattern that appears to be similar to that for other African galerucine groups. Since the estimation of the extent of global diversity based mainly on insect species richness in tropical forests, our current study which is based on hard data suggests a much lower diversity than previously predicted.

Most Galerucinae with elongated basi-metatarsus are traditionally assigned to the “Monoleptites”. As recent studies reveal, many species belong to genera outside this group and several of them show a close relationship to the type species of Galerudolphia Hincks, 1949, a substitution of the younger homonym Rudolphia Jacoby, 1899a, and need to be transferred to this group. A total of 6593 specimens from continental Africa and Arabia were examined. The genus now contains 15 species: Galerudolphia pallida (Jacoby, 1899a); Galerudolphia nigrosuturalis (Jacoby, 1897) comb. n., = Luperus nigrosuturalis Jacoby, 1897, = Luperus epipleuralis Jacoby, 1907, syn. n., = Rudolphia marginata Jacoby, 1907, syn. n., = Luperus (Calomicrus) atricornis Weise, 1907, syn. n. = Luperodes obscuricornis Weise, 1909, syn. n., = Rudolphia frontalis Laboissière, 1919, syn. n., = Luperus epipleuralis var. keniaensis Laboissière, 1919, syn. n., = Luperodes debilis Laboissière, 1940, syn. n. = Monolepta nigriventris Bryant, 1953 syn. n.; Galerudolphia capensis (Baly, 1889) comb. n., = Iphidea capensis Baly, 1889; Galerudolphia tenuicornis (Jacoby, 1899b), comb. n., = Candezea tenuicornis Jacoby, 1899b; Galerudolphia wittei (Bryant, 1958), comb. n., = Luperus wittei Bryant, 1958; Galerudolphia arabica (Medvedev, 1996), comb. n., = Monolepta arabica Medvedev, 1996. Furthermore, the newly described species: Galerudolphia viridis sp. n., G. gertiae sp. n., G. angolae sp. n., G. nigroapicalis sp. n., G. martini sp. n., G. stephani sp. n., G. namibiae sp. n., G. ruwenzorica sp. n., and G. peterhelmuti sp. n.. Rudolphia minor Weise, 1902 is not congeneric and need to be transferred to another group. The genus and all species are redescribed or described including figures of external and genitalic characters. Distribution maps and an identification key for all species are provided.

Bonesioides Laboissiere, 1925, Galerucinae endemic to Tropical Africa is revised. This group is characterized by the metallic coloration of the entire dorsum or at least parts of it, the prothorax is moderately trapezoidal, posteriorly enlarged, and lacks any pronotal depressions, the basi-metatarsus is moderately elongated, pronotal coxal cavities are open behind, and distinctly shaped male genitalia. Most metallic-coloured species originally described in Barombiella Laboissiere, 1931a are herein transferred to Bonesioides. For each species drawings of the habitus, basal antennal articles, spermatheca and median lobe are given. Species distributions are illustrated in maps, and an identification key is given. In a phylogenetic analysis including other Afrotropical Galerucinae with elongated basi-metatarsi, 'Monoleptites' is found to be a non-monophyletic group. The genus Munina Chen, 1976, and M. donacioides Chen, 1976, are redescribed. Munina laotica sp. nov. from Laos is described. The examined paratype of Munina flavida Yang & Yao, 1997 proved to be a female of M. donacioides Chen, 1976, thus M. flavida is proposed as its new synonym. M. donacioides is reported for the first time from Laos. Male and female genitalia of both species are illustrated. The generic position within Galerucinae is discussed and transfer from Monoleptites Chapuis, 1875 to Antiphites Chapuis, 1875 (tribe Sermylini Wilcox, 1965) is proposed.
