Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new sampled-data controller for stabilization of the attitude dynamics at a desired constant configuration. The design is based on discrete-time interconnection and damping assignment (IDA) passivity-based control (PBC) and the recently proposed Hamiltonian representation of discrete-time nonlinear dynamics. Approximate solutions are provided with simulations illustrating performances.

5. Station-keeping of $L_2$ halo orbits under sampled-data model predictive control

Abstract

The paper deals with the design of an improved model predictive control scheme for achieving station-keeping in a quasi Halo orbit around the $L_2$ point in the Earth-Moon system. The improvement is obtained thanks to a multi-rate sampled-data trajectory planner that allows for simplifying the optimization problem of the model predictive controller while guaranteeing feasibility and convergence to the desired orbit. The multi-rate planner is designed based on a simplified model of the dynamics under a preliminary nonlinear regulation feedback. The proposed control scheme is shown to outperform recent station-keeping nonlinear model predictive control designs both in terms of tracking error and energy expenditures in different situations. Finally, a brief study of aspects pertaining to computational time are carried out so highlighting the possibility for real time implementation on modern hardware.

Abstract

In this paper we show that feedback passivation under sampling can be preserved under digital control through the redefinition of a passifying output map which depends on the sampling period. The design is constructive and approximate solutions make sense. The procedure is applied to port Hamiltonian dynamics and Interconnection and Damping Assignment feedback. Performances are illustrated over the gravity pendulum example.

Abstract

AbstractThis paper explores the processes of individual and collective subjectivation experienced by non-binary individuals living in contemporary Italy. Using qualitative methods, the study, which was conducted between July and September 2021, involved a sample of twenty-six young adults aged between eighteen and thirty years. Starting from participants’ narratives, the thematic analysis revealed the significance of both physical and virtual support environments in the subjectivation process, taking into account the diverse micro-contexts in which people live. The study’s findings underscore the continued need to challenge societal norms and structures that perpetuate discrimination against people who reject exclusive identification with the male or female gender and opt for more fluid and non-traditional definitions of gender identity. Abstract

This study explores the motivations, choices, and constraints shaping tourism behavior among transgender individuals living in Italy. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research begins with quantitative data collection and analyses, followed by qualitative insights to uncover the multifaceted reasons that drive transgender individuals to engage in tourism. These motivations range from seeking personal authenticity to cultural exploration and community connection. This study also examines the intricate interplay of choice and constraint in shaping transgender travelers' tourism experiences, highlighting the challenges they face and the strategies they use to cope with the obstacles they face within the tourism context. Given Italy's persistent stereotypes and prejudices against gender and sexual minorities, this research provides a critical examination of the intersectionality of gender identity and tourism within a challenging cultural and legal landscape. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of transgender travelers' tourism experiences and offer valuable implications for industry stakeholders, policymakers, and scholars. Abstract

INTRODUCTION: We assessed TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) seeding activity and aggregates detection in olfactory mucosa of patients with frontotemporal lobar degeneration with TDP-43-immunoreactive pathology (FTLD-TDP) by TDP-43 seeding amplification assay (TDP43-SAA) and immunocytochemical analysis. METHODS: The TDP43-SAA was optimized using frontal cortex samples from 16 post mortem cases with FTLD-TDP, FTLD with tau inclusions, and controls. Subsequently, olfactory mucosa samples were collected from 17 patients with FTLD-TDP, 15 healthy controls, and three patients carrying MAPT variants. RESULTS: TDP43-SAA discriminated with 100% accuracy post mortem cases presenting or lacking TDP-43 neuropathology. TDP-43 seeding activity was detectable in the olfactory mucosa, and 82.4% of patients with FTLD-TDP tested positive, whereas 86.7% of controls tested negative (P < 0.001). Two out of three patients with MAPT mutations tested negative. In TDP43-SAA positive samples, cytoplasmatic deposits of phosphorylated TDP-43 in the olfactory neural cells were detected. DISCUSSION: TDP-43 aggregates can be detectable in olfactory mucosa, suggesting that TDP43-SAA might be useful for identifying and monitoring FTLD-TDP in living patients.
