Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES The determination of the period of coexistence of weeds with the eucalyptus stand helps in the integrated management of weed competition, acting as an efficient tool that reduces the use of herbicides and the economic and environmental costs. Therefore, the objectives of the present study are to determine the period of coexistence of a hybrid of Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla with weeds, evaluating the impact on biomass production, concentrations and stock of macro and micronutrients. The experiment was carried out in Bioma Pampa, in the municipality of Candiota - RS, and followed the design of Random Blocks, with three replications. For eucalyptus, treatments consist of increasing periods of coexistence or control with weeds. For the weeds, the treatments considered were the stages of their development, which were divided into 3 stages (1, 2 and 3) respectively. The total biomass of eucalyptus in the coexistence treatment was 53.7 Mg ha-1 and in the weed control treatment until 168 days it was 81.4 Mg ha-1. This reduction was in the order of 34%. It is recommended that from the 56th to the 140th day, the critical period for preventing interference (PCPI), the eucalyptus grows free from coexistence with weeds. The total interference prevention period (PTPI) was 140 days. The maintenance of weeds for 378 days promoted a significant reduction in the production of total biomass and wood. The highest nutrient utilization efficiency (EUN) was observed in wood. The total amount of weed biomass during the 3 stages was 35.2 Mg ha-1, following the order of the different species: Eragrostis pilosa (29.9 %) > Baccharis coridifolia (18.1 %) > Paspalum sp. (9.8%) > Senecio sp. (8.0 %) > Aspilia montevidensis (7.7 %) > Lolium multiflorum (7.0 %) > Sporobolus sp. (6.1 %) > Erianthus angustifolius (5.5 %) > Conyza bonariensis (4.0 %) > Cynodon dactylon (3.9 %). The third development period differed statistically from the other periods and represented 63% and 60% of the total macro and micronutrients allocated to the biomass. Statistical analyzes show that weed biomass production has a seasonal behavior, with phase 3 of development accounting for more than half (54.8%) of all quantified biomass, followed by phase 2 (30.6%) and 1 (14.6%). A determinação do período de convivência das plantas daninhas com a cultura do eucalipto auxilia no manejo integrado da matocompetição, atuando como uma eficiente ferramenta que reduz o uso de herbicidas e os custos econômicos e ambientais. Assim sendo, os objetivos do presente estudo são determinar o período de convivência de um híbrido de Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla com as plantas daninhas, avaliando o impacto na produção de biomassa, nos teores e no estoque de macro e micronutrientes. O experimento foi conduzido no Bioma Pampa, no município de Candiota - RS, e obedeceu ao delineamento de Blocos ao Acaso, com três repetições. Para o eucalipto, os tratamentos constam de períodos crescentes de convivência ou de controle com as plantas daninhas. Para as plantas daninhas os tratamentos considerados foram as fases de desenvolvimento das mesmas, que foram divididas em 3 estágios (1, 2 e 3) respectivamente. A biomassa total do eucalipto no tratamento sempre em convivência foi de 53,7 Mg ha-1 e no tratamento de controle até os 168 dias foi de 81,4 Mg ha-1. Essa redução foi na ordem de 34%. Recomendase que do 56º ao 140º dia, período crítico de prevenção à interferência (PCPI), mantenha-se a cultura do eucalipto livre da convivência com as plantas daninhas. O período total de prevenção à interferência (PTPI), foi 140 dias. A manutenção das plantas daninhas por todo o período promove significativa redução na produção de biomassa total e de madeira do eucalipto. A maior eficiência de utilização de nutrientes (EUN) foi observada na madeira. A quantidade total de biomassa de plantas daninhas durante os 3 estágios foi de 35,2 Mg ha-1, seguindo a seguinte ordem em relação as diferentes espécies: Eragrostis pilosa (29,9 %) > Baccharis coridifolia (18,1 %) > Paspalum sp. (9,8 %) > Senecio sp. (8,0 %) > Aspilia montevidensis (7,7 %) > Lolium multiflorum (7,0 %) > Sporobolus sp. (6,1 %) > Erianthus angustifolius (5,5 %) > Conyza bonariensis (4,0%) > Cynodon dactylon (3,9 %). A fase 3 de desenvolvimento diferiu estatisticamente das demais e representou 63% e 60% dos macro e micronutrientes totais alocados na biomassa. As análises estatísticas mostram que a produção de biomassa de plantas daninhas possui um comportamento sazonal, sendo a fase 3 de desenvolvimento, responsável por mais da metade (54,8 %) de toda biomassa quantificada, seguida pela fase 2 (30,6 %) e 1 (14,6 %).

Litter dynamics is one of the fundamental processes for the growth and maintenance of native forest fragments, being considered the main pathway for nutrient cycling in forests. Studies on litter production and nutrient content therefore provide insights that provide a better understanding of nutrient dynamics. This study identifies the seasonality and meteorological conditions that influence the quantity and return of nutrients through litter in an Atlantic Forest fragment. Litter sampling was carried out monthly in 12 permanent plots. Each plot contained 5 littertraps distributed systematically. The litter was classified, and the dry mass and nutrients in the leaves and branches and miscellaneous fractions was quantified. Seasonal behavior was observed, with the highest depositions in the winter season. The average annual production was 6.78 Mg ha-1, with 64.9% being composed of leaves. The mean annual nutrient intake was 135.1, 115.7, 39.7, 23.5, 17.6 and 4.6 kg ha-1 for Ca, N, K, Mg, S and P, respectively. The meteorological variable precipitation influenced the deposition pattern. The increase in nutrient-use efficiency in the second year compared to the first indicates that plants strategically may be re-translocating relative amounts of their nutrients under water stress conditions. Resumo A dinâmica de serapilheira é um dos processos fundamentais para o crescimento e manutenção de fragmentos florestais nativos, sendo considerada a principal via da ciclagem de nutrientes em florestas. Dessa forma, estudos sobre produção de serapilheira e conteúdo de nutrientes fornecem subsídios que proporcionam um melhor entendimento da dinâmica dos nutrientes. O objetivo do estudo foi identificar a sazonalidade e as condições meteorológicas que influenciam na quantifidade e no retorno de nutrientes através da serapilheira em um fragmento de Floresta Atlântica. A amostragem de serapilheira foi realizada mensalmente em 12 parcelas permanentes. Cada parcela continha 5 coletores distribuídos sistematicamente. A serapilheira foi classificada, quantificada a massa seca e nutrientes nas frações folhas e galhos + miscelânea. Foi constatado comportamento sazonal com as maiores deposições na estação do inverno. A produção média anual foi de 6,78 Mg ha-1, sendo 64,9% composta por folhas. A entrada média de nutrientes anual foi de 135.1, 115.7, 39.7, 23.5, 17.6 e 4.6 kg ha-1 para Ca, N, K, Mg, S e P respectivamente. A variável meteorológica precipitação apresentou influencia no padrão de deposição. O aumento na eficiência do uso de nutrientes no segundo ano em comparação com o primeiro indica que as plantas estrategicamente podem estar retranslocando quantidades relativas de seus nutrientes sob condições de estresse hídrico.

This transfer can occur in several ways, the deposition of litter is the most significant and consists in the return to the soil of leaves, twigs and thick branches, bark and miscellaneous, representing source of organic matter and nutrients. Through the atmospheric deposition we have the contribution of ions that can be as much by dust and aerosols as by the rain. Part of the precipitation is intercepted by the tree canopy and returned to the atmosphere by evapotranspiration, the portion that crosses the forest canopy is called throughfall and the one that descends through the trunk is called stemflown. The objective of the study was to quantify the litterfall, the partition of rainfall and its nutrients in Eucalyptus dunnii stands in southern Brazil. The experiment consisted of the delimitation of 4 plots of 20 m x 21 m. In each one of them 4 litter collectors were arranged in line, between line, diagonal and tree positions, with an area of 0.5 m². Four useful areas of the trees were also demarcated for collecting thick branches> 0.5 cm in diameter. For rainfall, 3 collectors were installed in an open area. The throughfall consisted in the installation of 3 collectors in each plot, in the line, interlining and diagonal positions of the trees. The stemflow through the trunk occurred with the installation of a hose around the trunk of the tree in the form of a spiral, leading the water to a reservoir near the base of the same The total litter production was 8,48 Mg ha-1, 59% composed of the leaf fraction. The return of macro and micronutrients via litter was 215 kg ha-1 and 8 kg ha-1 respectively. The rainfall during the 12 months was 1903 mm, with an average interception by the canopy of 8,9%. In the rainfall, 28 kg ha-1 of nutrients were supplied. When we considered the sum of throughfall and stemflow, the amount of nutrients contributed was 76.6 kg ha-1. The climatic variables of temperature, solar radiation and evapotranspiration have a strong influence on the pattern of litter deposition, showing that it has a seasonal character. In addition, it is an important source of organic matter and nutrients to the soil, with the most representative leaf fraction in terms of amount of biomass and nutrients to the soil. The interaction with the canopy of the Eucalyptus dunnii trees enriches the net precipitation with nutrients. A ciclagem biogeoquímica dos nutrientes é um processo dinâmico e consiste na transferência de nutrientes entre os meios solo-planta-solo. Essa transferência pode ocorrer de várias formas, dentre as quais, a deposição de serapilheira que é a forma mais significativa de aporte de matéria orgânica e nutrientes ao solo. Por meio da deposição atmosférica temos o aporte de íons que pode ser tanto por poeiras e aerossóis quanto pela precipitação pluviométrica. Uma parte da precipitação pluviométrica é interceptada pela copa das árvores e é devolvida à atmosfera por meio da evapotranspiração, a parcela que atravessa o dossel florestal precipita internamente ou escorre pelo tronco. O objetivo do estudo foi quantificar a serapilheira produzida, a partição da precipitação pluviométrica e seus nutrientes em um povoamento de Eucalyptus dunnii, no sul do Brasil. O experimento consistiu na demarcação de 4 parcelas de 20 m x 21 m. Em cada uma delas foram dispostos 4 coletores, com área de 0,5 m2, nas posições linha, entrelinha, diagonal e árvore. Foram ainda demarcadas 4 áreas úteis das árvores de diâmetro à altura do peito médio para a coleta de galhos grossos > 0,5 cm de diâmetro. Para avaliar a precipitação pluviométrica, foram instalados 3 coletores. A precipitação interna consistiu na instalação de 3 coletores por parcela dispostos na linha, entrelinha e diagonal das árvores. O escoamento pelo tronco deu-se com a instalação de uma mangueira circundando o tronco da árvore em forma de espiral, conduzindo a água até um reservatório junto a base da mesma. A produção total de serapilheira foi de 8,48 Mg ha-1, sendo 59 % composta pela fração foliar. O retorno de macro e micronutrientes, via serapilheira produzida, foi de 215 kg ha-1 e 8 kg ha-1 respectivamente. A precipitação pluviométrica anual foi de 1903 mm, com uma interceptação média pela copa das árvores de 8,9 %. Através da precipitação pluviométrica, foram aportados 28 kg ha-1 de nutrientes. Quando consideramos a soma da precipitação interna e escoamento pelo tronco, a quantidade de nutrientes foi de 76,6 kg ha-1. As variáveis climáticas temperatura, radiação solar e evapotranspiração possuem forte influência no padrão de deposição de serapilheira, mostrando que a mesma possui caráter sazonal. A interação com o dossel das árvores de Eucalyptus dunnii, enriquece com nutrientes a água da precipitação pluviométrica.
