Background: The nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and the seven-item Generalised Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7) scales are routinely used in research and clinical practice. Whilst measurement invariance of these measures across gender has been demonstrated individually in general population studies and clinical samples, less is known about invariance of the distinct but correlated latent factors ('depression' and 'anxiety'). The current study assessed measurement invariance of these constructs across males and females seeking treatment for common mental health disorders., Methods: Data were provided from eight psychological treatment services in London, England. Data from initial assessments with the services where individual items on the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 were available were included in analyses. Measurement invariance was explored across self-identified genders, with 'male' and 'female' categories available in the dataset. Sensitivity analyses were conducted using propensity score matching on sociodemographic and clinical variables., Results: Data were available for 165,872 patients (110,833 females, 55,039 males). There was evidence of measurement invariance between males and females in both the full sample and a propensity score matched sample (n = 46,249 in each group)., Conclusions: Measurement invariance of the correlated depression and anxiety factors of PHQ-9 and GAD-7 were indicated in this sample of individuals seeking psychological treatment for CMHDs. These results support the use of these measures in routine clinical practice for both males and females. Implantation of an embryo within the scar of a previous cesarean delivery is one of the rare forms of ectopic pregnancy (EP). There are two types of such pregnancies:   type 1, in which the embryo starts to progress towards the uterine cavity and may result in live birth despite the high risk of a hemorrhage occurring during birth, and type 2, which consists of pregnancies in which the embryo is embedded deep within the cesarean scar (CS) and grows towards the bladder and abdominal cavity, which is very dangerous and needs to be terminated immediately. There are very few cases in the literature reporting live birth as a result of such pregnancies. Here, we present a 41-year-old single gravid woman who had been treated for infertility at our institute and had eventually conceived through embryonic transfer freezing. At six weeks, a transvaginal scan showed the presence of an EP within the CS but despite this finding the pregnancy was continued to term.

A 32-year-old man with a history of painful swelling of the right ankle underwent bone scintigraphy, which showed increased uptake in the right ankle and also unexpected diffuse uptake throughout the right hemithorax. A single photon emission tomography scan performed after the intravenous injection of 740 MBq of technetium-99m methylene-diphosphonate ((99m)Tc-MDP) showed abnormal uptake throughout the right lung. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a large mass in the right lower lobe. CT-guided biopsy of this mass led to a diagnosis of metastatic Ewing's sarcoma. Although lung uptake on bone scans has been noted in various occasions (such as: pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, and various tumoral lesions), increased uptake of (99m)Tc-MDP in lung metastases of Ewing's sarcoma has not been reported according to our knowledge until now. We report such a case.

Background: Limited available data indicate that a specific pattern of increased gastric wall radiotracer uptake is associated with dyspepsia. Our purpose was to evaluate the frequency of this finding and its relation with dyspeptic evidences., Method: 1056 consecutive outpatients referred for myocardial perfusion SPECT were interviewed concerning the dyspeptic symptoms, current gastric medications and previous gastroduodenal interventions. The intensity of gastric wall activity was graded qualitatively as G1 or hyperactive gastric wall (equivalent to the patient's heart activity) and G2 (less than heart activity)., Results: The pattern of gastric wall hyperactivity was identified in 1.9% of patients. Dyspeptic symptoms were present in 80 and 18.6% of G1 and G2 patients, respectively (p<0.001). The dyspeptic symptoms were classified as ulcer-like in 37.5%, dysmotility-like in 43.75% and GERD-like in 18.75% of the dyspeptic G1 patients. Considering the classification of dyspepsia, there was no significant difference between the dyspeptic patients of groups. The history of previous gastroduodenal interventions and current use of gastric medications was significantly higher among G1 patients., Conclusion: The infrequent pattern of gastric wall hyperactivity could be clinically important and can identify a category of patients, who require additional diagnostic gastrointestinal investigation to specify another possible noncardiac origin of complaints.
