Background: Reproductive dysfunctions of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and blood anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) concentration are significantly influenced by the dietary advanced glycation end products (AGEs). The interplay between AGEs and their soluble form of receptor, might exert a protective role on the follicular environment and affect AMH concentration. This study investigated the relationship between soluble receptor for advanced glycation end-products (sRAGE) levels in follicular fluid (FF) and serum AMH levels in PCOS and non-PCOS women. Materials and Methods: Among 43 women of reproductive age who participated in this case-control study 26 non- PCOS women were assigned to the control group, while 17 participants were diagnosed with PCOS and allocated to the case group. Prior to the in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure, fluid samples were collected and levels of FF sRAGEs and serum AMH were recorded through the use of commercially available ELISA kits. Results: Correlation analysis, without age adjusting, revealed a statistically considerable and positive association between FF sRAGE and serum AMH concentration in PCOS women (P=0.012, r=0.596). Moreover, after age stratification, the same pattern was observed in some age groups; in PCOS women aged 40 years or older (r=1, P<0.001), as well as those younger than 30 years (r=0.922, P=0.003), correlation analysis demonstrated a significant and positive relationship between FF sRAGE and serum AMH levels. Conclusion: The association between sRAGE and AMH in women with PCOS is primarily affected by their age, whereas non-PCOS women showed no relationship. The results show that the levels of these receptors (sRAGE) show their specific effects in young women and women over 40 years old and not in middle age and target the ovarian reserve. Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease that occurs in between 6 and 10% of women who are at reproductive maturity. The presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity is the defining characteristic of this disease. Although the etiology of endometriosis remains controversial, there is a general consensus that multiple biological processes such as angiogenesis and vasculogenesis, oxidative stress, and inflammation contribute to its complex pathophysiology. Patients' expectations and priorities influence the treatment plan that is selected. For instance, therapy with hormone medications is inappropriate for endometriosis patients who wish to become pregnant since these medications interfere with ovulation. On the other hand, considering that the current endometriosis treatments are associated with recurrence of pain and disease despite the treatment of the disease and have many side effects, the design and application of non-hormonal drugs in this field is very necessary. Therefore, in this article, we tried to have an overview on non-hormonal treatments by considering angiogenesis, oxidative stress, and inflammation as important biological processes involved in endometriosis. Aim: To assess the impact of intermittent fasting, with or without probiotic supplementation, versus a calorie‐restricted diet on anthropometric measures, metabolic status and gonadal variables in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods: This is a randomized, placebo‐controlled, parallel‐arm clinical trial. The effects of the 14:10 early time‐restricted eating (eTRE) strategy alone or combined with probiotics, on obese women with PCOS, were investigated. Participants were divided into three groups: eTRE plus probiotics (n = 30), eTRE plus placebo (n = 30) and a control group following a standard three‐meal‐per‐day diet with daily calorie restriction (DCR) (n = 30). Over 8 weeks, various anthropometric, metabolic, menstrual and gonadal variables were assessed. Results: A total of 90 individuals were included in the study, with a mean body weight of 81.4 kg, and a mean age of 30 years. Mean (standard deviation) weight loss was not different between the groups at week 8 (TRE + probiotic: −2.2 [1.6] kg vs. TRE + placebo: −2.9 [2.7] kg vs. DCR: −2.5 [1.7] kg). Results revealed that, while all three regimes led to reductions in body weight, body mass index, vascular risk indicators, hirsutism and acne scores, there were no statistically significant differences between the eTRE groups and the control group in terms of weight loss, or improvements in metabolic, menstrual and gonadal variables (P >.05). Additionally, combining probiotics with eTRE did not benefit hormonal and cardiometabolic factors (P >.05). Conclusions: The eTRE alone or eTRE plus probiotics did not result in significantly greater weight loss or improvements in metabolic, menstrual and gonadal variables compared with the standard three‐meal DCR diet. Objective: Although several studies have investigated the clinical outcomes of assisted reproductive techniques (ARTs) and male reproductive performance during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, few well-designed studies have focused on female reproductive performance after a recent mild to moderate COVID-19 infection. Methods: This cohort study of 75 participants was performed at Arash Women's Hospital, Tehran, Iran. The 35 participants in the exposed group were women with infertility who visited the hospital from October 2021 to February 2022 and were prospectively followed. The 40 participants in the non-exposed matched group were selected retrospectively from hospital patients who underwent ART before the COVID-19 pandemic. Study variables were compared between the non-exposed and exposed groups. Results: The exposed group had a non-significantly smaller total of retrieved oocytes and fewer mature oocytes than the non-exposed group (p=0.26, p=0.10). The numbers of total and transferred embryos were also lower in the exposed group, but these results were not statistically significant (p=0.27, p=0.77). The rate of spontaneous abortion was higher in the exposed group (43% vs, 11%), and the ongoing pregnancy rate was lower (57% vs, 89%); however, these differences were not statistically significant. Conclusion: Recent mild to moderate COVID-19 infection seems to have no detrimental effects on female reproductive performance and embryo transfer outcomes; however, considering the small sample size of the present study, the statistically insignificant differences in the exposed group—namely, fewer embryos, fewer retrieved oocytes, a lower ongoing pregnancy rate, and a higher spontaneous abortion rate—might be important from a clinical standpoint. Background and Aims: There is increasing interest worldwide in using alternative and complementary approaches for treating male infertility. This interest has spawned a multitude of published systematic reviews and meta‐analyses. The aim of this Umbrella review was to consolidate the available evidence regarding the effect of complementary and alternative medicine on male infertility to inform clinical decision‐making processes. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted to identify systematic reviews and meta‐analyses pertaining to the effects of complementary and alternative medicine on male infertility. This search encompassed various databases including MEDLINE, CINAHL, PubMed, Scopus, Proquest, Google Scholar, SID, EMBASE, Magiran, Cochrane Library, Iranmedex, ScienceDirect, SAGE. Subsequently, two researchers independently extracted the data from the selected meta‐analyses and systematic reviews, and evaluated their methodological quality using the assessment of multiple systematic reviews 2 (AMSTAR2). Results: This analysis encompassed 11 studies, with four originating from Iran, two from Korea and five from China. The results regarding the effectiveness of complementary and alternative medicine are controversial, indicating a need for further research. The methodological quality of the systematic reviews and meta‐analyses appraised by AMSTAR 2 was rated as low or critically low. This assessment is attributed to inadequate examination of publication biases in the reviews and a lack of discussion regarding the effect of risk of bias. Conclusion: The existing evidence regarding the effectiveness of alternative and complementary medicine in addressing male infertility is limited. Furthermore, the overall methodological quality of the published systematic reviews and meta‐analyses may have been underestimated as the use of AMSTAR2 appears to be a more precise appraisal instrument compared to its predecessor.
