Aim: To investigate the experiences of men struggling with infertility. Design: This is a qualitative study, and the report follows the COREQ checklist. Methods: A team of nurse researchers conducted this research in Iran to examine the experiences of 11 men with primary infertility. The participants were selected through targeted sampling and underwent in‐depth semi‐structured interviews. The data collected was analysed using the conventional content analysis method outlined by Krippendorff. To ensure the study's accuracy, it followed the criteria proposed by Lincoln and Guba. Results: The central theme, "the threat to masculinity," was identified upon analysis. It comprises six categories: psychological pressure of confronting reality, frustration, discomfort with others, holding out against ridicule, tolerating unwanted opinions and advice and concealment of infertility and therapy. Conclusion: This study brings attention to the challenge to masculinity that men with primary infertility face as their central struggle. It highlights the importance of culturally sensitive care from healthcare professionals, emotional support, counselling services and public awareness to reduce the stigma surrounding male infertility. It can be valuable to evaluate and enhance infertility care in various settings. Implications for the Profession and Patient Care: To provide the best possible care for infertile men, it would be beneficial for nurses to pay more attention to sociocultural factors. Fertility care should be respectful of patients' beliefs and backgrounds. Background: Cancer as a chronic and severe disease, causes a lot of psychological distress in patients. One of the psychological interventions to control distress is metacognitive therapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate this type of treatment on life expectancy and consequently adherence to the treatment of the patients. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental two-group study. A total of 70 patients with gestational cancer were selected by convenience sampling and randomly divided into the intervention (n=35) and control (n=35) groups. The intervention group received 5 sessions (45-60 min) of metacognitive therapy, but the control group received the routine intervention. Data were collected using three questionnaires including: demographic and disease data questionnaire, Madanloo Treatment Adherence Questionnaire and Snyder’s Hope Scale. Results: Metacognitive therapy made significant changes in life expectancy and adherence to treatment in the intervention group compared to the control group (P<0.0001). The results of an adjusted analysis of covariance to compare the scores of treatment adherence and life expectancy after the intervention in the intervention group were 15.55 and 19.6 higher on average, respectively. Conclusion: The study indicates that metacognitive therapy has been effective in improving life expectancy and adherence to treatment of patients with gastrointestinal cancer. This intervention can be considered as an effective psychological intervention for these patients. Therefore, it is suggested that this intervention be established and promoted in counseling and psychotherapy centers in hospitals and treatment centers to accelerate the recovery process of these patients. Background: Nursing is a vital element in providing safe and effective care. Forensic nursing is one of the specialties in this discipline which, in addition to creating more satisfaction in nurses, is considered essential in holistic, quality, and safe care. This study aimed to describe the consequences of the presence of forensic nurses in the health system. Materials and Methods: This qualitative study was conducted between 2017 and 2018 in Iran. Semi-structured interviews were performed with 18 participant experts in the field of health and law. The interviews were analyzed using the inductive content analysis approach proposed by Graneheim and Lundman. Results: The consequences of the presence of nurses in the health system were summarized into two categories: positive and negative consequences. The positive consequences consisted of improved performance, better legality of nurses, the calmness of nurses, prevention of patients' rights violations, advancement comparable with developed countries, reduced costs, increased accuracy and speed in dealing with forensic cases, improved performance of Iranian Legal Medicine Organization and increased employment. On the other hand, the negative consequences were role conflict with other involved professionals and nursing shortage. Participants included nurses (with different specialties), nurse lawyers, forensic medicines, forensic midwives, a judge, and a medical lawyer. Conclusions: If planners and policymakers have a positive attitude toward the presence of forensic nurses, we can anticipate better forensic services for clients through the development of systematic educational programs, the formation of forensic teams, and the expertise of this profession can provide many benefits. The present study is aimed to determine the interventions on women under intimate partner violence. This integrative review was performed by searching in international (Web of science, PubMed, Scopus Science direct, and EMBASE) and national (SID and magiran) databases were searched from inception to December 31, 2018. The keywords used included “interventions” OR “IPV” OR “intimate partner violence”. The search of studies, data extraction and screening conducted by two researcher. Of 2782 studies 30 studies included in final stage. These studies were mainly investigated the effect of the intervention type on domestic violence against women. Of these, 17 studies focused on victims of domestic violence, of which 7 focused on supporting and empowering victims of violence, and 7 were interventional studies, and the remaining 3 studies were online and computer-based interventions. Another category of interventions focused on training and empowerment of health professionals and providers (7 studies), and two studies focused on both groups of DV victims and care providers. In addition to the DV victims and care providers, 4 studies included community factors in interventions. It also seems that carrying out comprehensive and adequate interventions on women under domestic violence is needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Infertility causes psychological problems in infertile patients and exerts adverse effects on the marital life of couples. Therefore, the present study investigated the effects of transactional analysis (TA) group behavioral therapy on marital satisfaction of infertile women. Materials and Methods: This before/after controlled trial was conducted on 30 infertile women referring to in vitro fertilization ward of Mahdieh hospital of Tehran in 2018. Patients were randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. The intervention group underwent TA for 4 weeks while the control group only received the routine treatment. Data were gleaned from Four ENRICH Couples Scale and analyzed by the SPSS software version 22.0 using independent and paired t-tests. Results: The results of the paired t test showed a significant difference between the 2 groups after the intervention (P = 0.001) compared to before the intervention while no significant change was observed in the control group (P = 0.789). In addition, independent t-test indicated no significant change in the control group after the intervention (P = 0.000) compared to before intervention (P = 0.949). Conclusions: In general, training in TA group behavioral therapy significantly increased marital satisfaction in the intervention group compared to the control group. Accordingly, the TA can serve as a useful treatment for infertile women. Therefore, psychological counseling and psychotherapy centers are recommended to be established and promoted in obstetric hospitals in order to improve the therapeutic course in infertile women. Objectives: Violence exerts negative effects on nutritional status and digestive system of women provoking mental disorders among them. The aim of this study was to determine the rate of domestic violence against women presenting to legal medicine centers and its coping methods. Materials and Methods: A total of 150 women sustaining domestic violence presenting to legal medicine centers in Iran were selected as participants of this descriptive study using convenience sampling method. Data were collected through demographic information questionnaire, WHO standard domestic violence questionnaire, and a researcher-made inventory of coping with domestic violence against women and analyzed through SPSS version 23.0 using Mann-Whitney test, correlation coefficient, and independent t test. Results: We found mental violence as the most common type of violence against women followed by physical and sexual violence. There was a significant correlation between women's age and problem-based strategy, women's occupation and problem-based strategy, marriage duration and coping strategy, marriage duration and problem-based method, consent at the time of marriage and excitement-centered strategy, presence of disease and excitement-centered strategy, and drug abuse and excitement-centered strategy, and a reverse significant correlation between excitement-centered strategy and sexual violence and between problembased strategy and mental violence. Conclusions: Some training classes ought to be held to provide appropriate coping strategies for women sustaining violence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The nature of the nursing profession pays more attention to ethics of healthcare than its therapeutic dimension. One of the prevalent moral issues in this profession is moral distress. Moral distress appears more in intensive care units due to the widespread need for moral decision-making regarding treatment and care in emergency situations. In this connection, organizational justice is of high importance and, as a significant motivational tool, leaves important impacts upon attitude and behavior of personnel. Aim/objective: This study aimed at investigation of the relationship between perceived organizational justice and moral distress in intensive care unit nurses. Research design: This is a descriptive-correlational research which examined the relationship between perceived organizational justice and moral distress in intensive care unit nurses. Participants and research context: A total of 284 intensive care unit nurses were selected via census sampling. The data were collected through questionnaires and then were analyzed via SPSS-20 using Pearson and Spearman correlation tests. Ethical considerations: This study was approved by the Committee of Ethics in Medical Research. Completion of informed consent form, guarantee of the confidentiality of information, explanation on purposes of the research, and voluntary participation in the study were moral considerations observed in this study. Findings: There was a statistically significant negative correlation between the total perceived organizational justice and the total moral distress (p = 0.024, r = −0.137) and also between "procedural and interactional justice and errors" and "not respecting the ethics principles." Meanwhile, no relationship was found by the findings between distributive justice and dimensions of moral distress. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, there was a reverse significant relationship between moral distress and perceived organizational justice; therefore, the head nurses are expected to contribute to reduce moral distress and to increase perceived organizational justice in nurses.
