Present scenario dysmenorrhoea decreases women quality of life, work productivity and health. Commonly school girls, college students, etc. are affected by primary dysmenorrhoea. It is reported that 93% of teenagers are affected by dysmenorrhoea. It hampers the day to day activities of a women resulting in highest incident of absenteeism. Today’s new life style has brought changes in the hormonal functionary resulting in tolerable pain. A study of the prevalence of dysmenorrhoea and its associated symptoms would provide evidence of the severity of the problem. Most of the girls are commonly using pain killers to overcome pain during menstruation which is having side effects. As compared to allopathic medicines, homoeopathic medicines have a wide scope in curative action in dysmenorrhoea. Material & Method: Minimum 30 cases were scheduled whose totality is suitable to Veratrum album. 200 potency was prescribed as first dose. If required potency was raised in repetition, if condition demands. Repetition-patient was observed for 3hours after medication. If pain did not subside next dose will be introduced. Abstract Background Patients with diabetes have an increased risk for allograft rejection, possibly related to peri-operative hyperglycaemia. Hyperglycaemia is also common following transplantation in patients without diabetes. We hypothesise that exposure of allograft tissue to hyperglycaemia could influence the risk for rejection in any patient with high sugars. To investigate the relationship of peri-operative glucose control to acute rejection in renal transplant patients without diabetes, all patients receiving their first cadaveric graft in a single center were surveyed and patients without diabetes receiving cyclosporin-based immunosuppression were reviewed (n = 230). Records of the plasma blood glucose concentration following surgery and transplant variables pertaining to allograft rejection were obtained. All variables suggestive of association were entered into multivariate logistic regression analysis, their significance analysed and modeled. Results Hyperglycaemia (>8.0 mmol/L) occurs in over 73% of non-diabetic patients following surgery. Glycaemic control immediately following renal transplantation independently predicted acute rejection (Odds ratio=1.08). 42% of patients with a glucose < 8.0 mmol/L following surgery developed rejection compared to 71% of patients who had a serum glucose above this level. Hyperglycaemia was not associated with any delay of graft function. Conclusion Hyperglycaemia is associated with an increased risk for allograft rejection. This is consistent with similar findings in patients with diabetes. We hypothesise a causal link concordant with epidemiological and in vitro evidence and propose further clinical research.

Beneficial effects of F2 bi-parental (BIP) mating have been amply demonstrated in several self-pollinated crops. To explore such beneficial effects in Dolichos bean, a highly popular grain legume vegetable and self-pollinated crop in southern Karnataka, an investigation was carried out to assess the impact of inter se mating in F2 population derived from HA 4 (a high yielding photoperiod in-sensitive determinate type released variety) × GL 37 (a photoperiod sensitive in-determinate type germplasm accession) on nine quantitative traits inter-relationship and frequency of transgressive segregants. Significant shift in correlation coefficient of fresh pod yield plant-1 with racemes plant-1 from -0.33 (in F3 progenies) to 0.19 (in BIP F3 progenies) suggested the possibility of increasing the number of racemes plant-1 without penalty in fresh pod yield plant-1 through selection. The frequency of individuals that surpassed higher scoring parent for days toflowering, racemes plant-1, fresh pods node-1, fresh pod yield plant-1 and 100-fresh seed weight was higher from BIP F3 than those from F3 progenies. The results suggested better prospects of deriving superior pure-lines with desired traits/combination of traits from inter-mated population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
