Abstract

Superconducting quantum processors have made significant progress in size and computing potential. As a result, the practical cryogenic limitations of operating large numbers of superconducting qubits are becoming a bottleneck for further scaling. Due to the low thermal conductivity and the dense optical multiplexing capacity of telecommunications fiber, converting qubit signal processing to the optical domain using microwave-to-optics transduction would significantly relax the strain on cryogenic space and thermal budgets. Here, we demonstrate optical readout through an optical fiber of a superconducting transmon qubit connected via a coaxial cable to a fully integrated piezo-optomechanical transducer. Using a demolition readout technique, we achieve a single shot readout fidelity of 81%. Due to the small footprint (<0.15mm$^2$) and the modular fiber-based architecture, this device platform has the potential to scale towards use with thousands of qubits. Our results illustrate the potential of piezo-optomechanical transduction for low-dissipation operation of large quantum processors.

Abstract

We describe and implement a family of entangling gates activated by radio-frequency flux modulation applied to a tunable transmon that is statically coupled to a neighboring transmon. The effect of this modulation is the resonant exchange of photons directly between levels of the two-transmon system, obviating the need for mediating qubits or resonator modes and allowing for the full utilization of all qubits in a scalable architecture. The resonance condition is selective in both the frequency and amplitude of modulation and thus alleviates frequency crowding. We demonstrate the use of three such resonances to produce entangling gates that enable universal quantum computation: one iSWAP gate and two distinct controlled Z gates. We report interleaved randomized benchmarking results indicating gate error rates of 6% for the iSWAP (duration 135ns) and 9% for the controlled Z gates (durations 175 ns and 270 ns), limited largely by qubit coherence., Comment: As submitted. 7 pages, 6 figures

Abstract

We show that parametric coupling techniques can be used to generate selective entangling interactions for multi-qubit processors. By inducing coherent population exchange between adjacent qubits under frequency modulation, we implement a universal gateset for a linear array of four superconducting qubits. An average process fidelity of $\mathcal{F}=93\%$ is estimated for three two-qubit gates via quantum process tomography. We establish the suitability of these techniques for computation by preparing a four-qubit maximally entangled state and comparing the estimated state fidelity against the expected performance of the individual entangling gates. In addition, we prepare an eight-qubit register in all possible bitstring permutations and monitor the fidelity of a two-qubit gate across one pair of these qubits. Across all such permutations, an average fidelity of $\mathcal{F}=91.6\pm2.6\%$ is observed. These results thus offer a path to a scalable architecture with high selectivity and low crosstalk.

Abstract

SNO+ is a large liquid scintillator-based experiment located 2km underground at SNOLAB, Sudbury, Canada. It reuses the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory detector, consisting of a 12m diameter acrylic vessel which will be filled with about 780 tonnes of ultra-pure liquid scintillator. Designed as a multipurpose neutrino experiment, the primary goal of SNO+ is a search for the neutrinoless double-beta decay (0$\nu\beta\beta$) of 130Te. In Phase I, the detector will be loaded with 0.3% natural tellurium, corresponding to nearly 800 kg of 130Te, with an expected effective Majorana neutrino mass sensitivity in the region of 55-133 meV, just above the inverted mass hierarchy. Recently, the possibility of deploying up to ten times more natural tellurium has been investigated, which would enable SNO+ to achieve sensitivity deep into the parameter space for the inverted neutrino mass hierarchy in the future. Additionally, SNO+ aims to measure reactor antineutrino oscillations, low-energy solar neutrinos, and geoneutrinos, to be sensitive to supernova neutrinos, and to search for exotic physics. A first phase with the detector filled with water will begin soon, with the scintillator phase expected to start after a few months of water data taking. Abstract

Herein, the nanoparticles of SrTiO3perovskite oxide were synthesized using simple hydrothermal process. The synthesized perovskite oxide material was characterized by XRD and FTIR techniques. The XRD analysis reveals that the formed SrTiO3 perovskite oxide in cubic crystal phase with high phase purity. The FTIR result demonstrate the stretching and vibration bands of Ti-O and Sr-O along with O-H functional groups. The SrTiO3perovskite oxide powder was added to silicone resin and the paste was applied on AZ31 alloy sample, which was then used for electrochemical analysis. The corrosion characteristics of SrTiO3perovskite oxide coating over AZ31 alloy were investigated in 7 % NaCl electrolyte, wherein platinum foil used as counter electrode, saturated calomel electrode (SCE) as reference and SrTiO3perovskite oxide coated AZ31 alloy as working electrode. The results reveal that the open circuit potential of AZ31 alloy shifted from -1.57 V (SCE) to -0.95 V (SCE). The corrosion rates of bare AZ31 alloy calculated and found as 7 x 10-2 mA/cm2, while the same after coating was measured as 9 x 10-6 mA/cm2. The electrochemical impedance results also reveal that corrosion protection induced by the coating. Hence, it is summarized that the SrTiO3perovskite oxide coating demonstrated improved corrosion resistance for AZ31 alloy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In order to identify stable short duration rice genotypes across different agro-climatic zones in Telangana state, Additive Main Effects and Multiplicative Interaction Models (AMMI) and GGE Bi-plot analyses was performed. Analysis of variance clearly revealed that genotypes contributed highest (34.57 %) followed by environments (32.31 %) and genotype environment interaction (17.10 %) in total sum of squares indicating very greater role played by genotypes, environments and their interactions in realizing final grain yield. AMMI analysis revealed that rice genotypes viz., KNM 2305 (G12), KNM 2307 (G16) and JGL 20776 (G9) were recorded higher mean grain yield with positive interactive principal component analysis 1 (IPCA1) scores whereas, KNM 2307 (G16) and RNR 23595 (G5) were plotted near to zero IPCA1 axis indicating relatively more stable performance across locations. However, the GGE Bi-plot genotype view depicts that the genotypes viz., RDR 1188 (G6) and KNM 2305 (G12) were known as highly unsteady across locations. Among environments, Rudrur (E4), Kunaram (E2) and Rajendranagar (E5) locations were identified as relatively ideal to realize good yields whereas Jagtial (E1), Kampasagar (E3) and Warangal (E6) locations were poor and most discriminating. Among the six locations, the performance of genotypes was relatively similar in Kunaram (E2), Kampasagar (E3) and Rudrur (E4), Warangal (E6) though they belong to different agro-climatic zones of Telangana state, whereas Jagtial (E1) location seems to be little divergent. Further, KNM 2305 (G12) and US 314 (G17) were performed better at Jagtial (E1) and Rajendranagar (E5) while MTU 1010 (G8) was found to have good performance in Rudrur (E4) and Warangal (E6) locations. The results conclude that KNM 2305 was high yielder but found to be unstable across locations whereas KNM 2307 (G16) and KPS 6251 (G15) were identified as good with reasonably higher grain yield and stable performance over locations. Abstract

Objectives: Vilazodone hydrochloride is a novel selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat major depressive disorders. There are only sparse data available to know about the SSRI’s and its association with colon cancer. This study aims to evaluate and compare the in vitro cytotoxic effect of vilazodone with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in HT-29 cell line. Methods: Cell viability was tested by the 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay (Mosmann, 1983). Test sample and standard drug in variable concentrations were added to the HT-29 cell lines for incubation over 24 h under ideal conditions. After washing the test and standard drug sample from the well with saline, MTT was added and incubated for 4 h. Dimethyl sulfoxide of 1 ml was added in all wells after incubation with MTT. The absorbance at 570 nm was measured with an ultraviolet - spectrophotometer. Results: The values were tabulated, and the graph was plotted to find the IC-50 value (inhibitory concentration at 50%) which was struck at 28.5 μg/ml and12. 8 μg/ml for vilazodone hydrochloride and 5-FU, respectively. Conclusion: The results show that vilazodone hydrochloride has good anticancer property comparable with 5-FU, which would probably play a role as a cytotoxic agent in tumor cells. The proposed mechanism of action could be by activation of caspase-3 enzyme, thereby increasing apoptosis and indicates its use in coexisting depression and colon carcinoma. Other mechanism includes suppression of oncogene p53, which can be confirmed by future studies.

Abstract

An investigation was conducted with 217 germplasm lines of rice to estimate potential variation among rice genotypes. Multivariate analyses viz., PCA and cluster analysis to assess genetic diversity were performed on seven agronomic traits. For the evaluated traits in the lines of germplasm, box plots and normal probability plots displayed substantial estimates of variability. PCA showed that PC1 and PC2 represented 46.15 per cent of variation. PC1 was responsible for the most variance (24%) for four characters, followed by PC2 (22.15%) for three parameters. Filled grain number per panicle, single plant yield, plant height and thousand grain weight were identified as vital traits contributing to variability. Based on agglomerative hierarchical cluster analysis, the germplasm lines were grouped into five clusters, which explained a lot of variation in the traits. The study identified that plant height and 1000 grain weight have the greatest impact on variation. The genotypes viz., WGL 1063, RNR 26085, OR 2511-3, Swarna, KNM 7123, WGL 1063, MGD-101, IVT MS-6130, IVT IM-4231, IVT IME-3948 and IVT NPT-6303 were found to be the best performing genotypes for the traits panicle length, plant height and single plant yield, which can be used in hybridisation programme to improve these traits. Abstract

In this work, we have synthesized BaTiO3 perovskite material by the hydrothermal procedure. The synthesized BaTiO3 perovskite material was characterized by XRD and FTIR analysis. The XRD study reveals high crystalline nature, and the FTIR analysis shows the presence of -OH and CH functional groups. The BaTiO3 perovskite material was mixed with silicone resin and coated over AZ31 by the doctor blade method and dried in an oven at 90 °C. The coating was cured for 2-6 h before commencing the electrochemical analysis. The coated samples were mounted with copper electrical wire and used as an anode or working electrode in 3.5% NaCl electrolyte, wherein platinum foil as the counter electrode and saturated calomel electrode (SCE) as the reference electrode. Initially, open circuit potential was recorded and preceded by electrochemical impedance (EIS) measurements. Finally, a linear sweep voltammogram or Tafel plot was recorded, and data were plotted. It is noticed that the OCP was -0.25 V (vs SCE), and corrosion current density was found around 6 x10-7 A/cm². The results reveal that perovskite-based BaTiO3 coatings demonstrated a noble shift in the corrosion potential of AZ31 alloys in the NaCl medium. The presence of silicone resin played a vital role in developing homogeneous BaTiO3 perovskite material coatings over AZ31 alloy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
