Aim: The aim of the present study was to examine various factors that may contribute to early crestal bone loss around submerged implants, prior to restoration. Methods: The research included a collective of 100 implants, procured from 60 participants. We allocated a total of 60 patients into two distinct groups: 20 individuals in the healthy group and 40 individuals in the ECBL group. Results: Out of the complete population, 56 people were unaffected by diabetes, while six persons were smokers. Systemic antibiotics were administered to almost all patients (98%) throughout the implantation procedure. The implant implantation consisted of 69% nonmolar implants and 31% molar implants. Conclusion: Engaging in a guided bone regeneration (GBR) operation before implant implantation has been shown to be a statistically significant factor in preventing early crestal bone loss (ECBL).

This study investigated the impact of samarium and lanthanum fluorides (SmF3 and LaF3) on the physical and mechanical properties of Tl0.8Hg0.2Ba2Ca2−xRxCu3O9−δ−yFy superconducting phases (specifically the (Tl, Hg)-1223 phase), where R = Sm and La, with 0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.10. The superconducting samples were synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) verified the formation of the (Tl, Hg)-1223 phase without altering its tetragonal structure. Scanning electron micrographs (SEM) reveal the improvement of the grain size and inter-grain connectivity as Sm and La contents increased up to x=0.025. The electrical properties of (Tl, Hg)-1223 were studied using I-V and electrical resistivity measurements. Improved superconducting transition temperature (Tc) and transport critical current density (Jc) were observed up to x=0.025, beyond which they decreased substantially. Vickers microhardness (Hv) measurements were performed at room temperature to investigate their mechanical performance with various applied loads (0.49–9.80 N) and times (10–90 s). For both substitutions, the mechanical properties were enhanced up to an optimal value at x=0.025. All samples exhibited normal indentation size effect (ISE) behavior. The proportional sample resistance (PSR) model best explained Hv values among five theoretical models. Dislocation creep was the primary creep mechanism in the samples, according to indentation creep studies.

This study was designed for integrated culture of fish and vegetables in cost effective aquaponics. Using cheaper, locally available inputs a 3 m2 (1.52 m × 2.12 m) cages were introduced in pond; within a total cost between US$ 15 and 25. On three sides of the cages, there were sunshade-like structures to support horticulture products and a trellis to support climbing plants. Three treatments were introduced; monoculture of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), polyculture of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) and Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and monoculture of Climbing perch (Anabas testudineus). After 80 days, the average weight of Tilapia was 178.5 g ± 0.92 SE and 174 g ± 1.2 SE in monoculture and polyculture with 19 cm ± 0.11 SE and 17 ± 0.14 SE cm in size respectively from 24 g ± 0.20 SE and 22 g ± 0.22 SE initial weight respectively with 4 cm of initial size. Climbing perch became 70 g ± 1.0 SE weight in monoculture and 57.6 g ± 0.93 SE in polyculture from 0.50 g ± 0.05 SE initial weight. The study found that treatment-1 (benefit cost ratio: 2.2) was more suitable. Considering the low capital cost, good return on investment and reduced vulnerability of this culture system to tidal surges and flood, this technology has the potential to increase resilience of the farming households with ponds towards climate change in the coastal region. Le syndrome de Lemierre « SL » est une maladie rare qui prend son origine très souvent d´une infection oropharyngée se compliquant d´une thrombose septique de la veine jugulaire interne et d´emboles septiques à prédominance pulmonaire dans sa forme typique. Dans notre cas, le SL n´est qu´un tableau révélateur d´un carcinome épidermoïde de la bouche œsophagienne surinfecté. Tout retard diagnostic ou de prise en charge peut être responsable d´une morbi-mortalité élevée. Son diagnostic repose sur : un faisceau d´arguments cliniques, radiologiques dont la TDM cervico thoracique avec injection du produit de contraste trouve tout son intérêt ainsi que sur des examens bactériologiques surtout dans les formes atypiques. Le traitement est principalement médical basé sur une antibiothérapie ciblée urgente et prolongée, l´anticoagulation reste très discutée cas par cas, et le traitement chirurgical est réservé à des cas bien particuliers.

Introduction: Pharyngocutaneous fistula (PCF) is the most common complication after total laryngectomy. Its incidence is extremely variable, with values ranging from 3% and 65%. The management of this problem considerably increases the length and the cost of hospitalization. The aim of this study is to analyze the incidence, predisposing factors, and outcome of PCF in patients undergoing total laryngectomy in a Moroccan teaching hospital in Rabat, Morocco. Materials and Methods: This study is a retrospective study including 136 patients who underwent total laryngectomy for squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx in our institution, between January 2006 and December 2013. Socio-demographical, biological, surgical, and outcome data were included. Risk factors were analyzed for association with PCF formation. Results: The overall PCF rate was 27.8%. The mean age was 58 (32-82 years). Univariate analysis showed age (P= 0,028), hemoglobin (P=0,026), and previous tracheotomy (P=0,028) to be associated with the onset of PCF. However, multivariate analysis revealed that previous tracheotomy (P=0,028) and low level of preoperative hemoglobin (P=0,026) were highly associated with the occurrence of PCF. Conclusion: This is an original work performed in an African country with a large serie. Our findings suggest that age, previous tracheotomy, and low level of haemoglobin are risk factors for PCF onset after total laryngectomy in T4 squamous cell carcinoma.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto's disease KFD is a rare and benign cause of cervical lymphadenopathy. It is an anatomoclinical entity of unknown etiology. The confirmation of the diagnosis is always provided by histological lymph node study. The clinical picture sometimes evokes lymphoma or tuberculosis. The evolution is generally favorable with spontaneous healing after a few weeks. We report the case of a 26-year-old woman who had consulted for cervical lymphadenopathy associated with fever. The cervical lymph node biopsy concluded to Kikuch-Fujimoto's disease. The evolution was marked by rapid regression of lymphadenopathy under corticosteroid treatment.

The incidence of renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) in renal transplant recipients is reported as 1.1-1.5% in the native kidneys and 0.22-0.25% in the renal allograft. There are no data to support routine surveillance for tumors in transplant recipients. Most reported cases of RCCs occurring in renal allografts were incidental findings in asymptomatic patients. Herein, we report the second case of lone chromophobe RCC (ChRCC) of the renal allograft presenting with weight loss. Loss of weight is a presenting symptom in one-third of ChRCCs occurring in the native kidneys in the general population. Based on the age of the patient, R.E.N.A.L nephrometry score of the tumor and the lack of data on the prognosis of this histological subtype in a climate of long-term immunosuppression, we elected for radical nephrectomy. We suggest that RCCs should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a transplant recipient presenting with weight loss even in the absence of localizing symptoms or signs.

Kartagener syndrome is an autosomal recessive genetic ciliary disorder comprising of a classic triad of sinusitis, situs inversus and bronchiectasis. It's the one of primary ciliary dyskinesia disorders with manifestations present from childhood. Most patients of PCD have situs inversus. We present a case of 18 year-old women with recurrent lower and upper respiratory tracts infections, and rhinolalia clausa.

The extent of correlation or co-movement among the returns of developed and emerging stock markets remains pivotal for efficiently diversifying global portfolios. This correlation is prone to variation over time as a consequence of escalating economic interdependence fostered by international trade and financial markets. In this study, the time-varying correlation and co-movement between the JSE.JO stock market of South Africa and its developed and developing stock market partners are analyzed. The dynamic conditional correlation–exponential generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (DCC-EGARCH) methodology is employed with different multivariate distributions to explore the time-varying correlation and volatilities between the JSE.JO stock market and its partners. Based on the conditional correlation results, the JSE.JO stock market is integrated and co-moves with its partners, and the conditional correlation for all markets exhibits time-variant behavior. The conditional volatility results show that the JSE.JO stock market behaves differently from other markets, especially after 2015, indicating a positive sign for investors to diversify between the JSE.JO and its partners. The highest value of conditional volatility for markets was in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, representing the riskiest period that investors should avoid due to the lack of diversification opportunities during crises. Melanoma progression depends on melanoma stem cells (MSCs), which are distinguished by the distinct dysregulated genes. As the key factors in the dysregulation of genes, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) take great effects on MSCs. However, the underlying mechanism of lncRNAs in MSCs has not been extensively characterized. To address the roles of lncRNAs in MSCs, LINC00698 was characterized in this study. The results revealed that LINC00698 was upregulated in MSCs, showing its important role in MSCs. The further data indicated that the LINC00698 silencing triggered cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase and apoptosis of MSCs. LINC00698 could directly interact with miR-3132 to upregulate the expression of TCF7, which was required for sustaining the stemness and the tumorigenic potency of MSCs. At the same time, LINC00698 could bind to the hnRNPM protein to enhance the protein stability, thus suppressing apoptosis and promoting the stemness of MSCs. Furthermore, the in vivo data demonstrated that LINC00698 was essential for tumorigenesis of MSCs via the LINC00698-miR-3132-TCF7/hnRNPM axis. In this study, advanced means in remote sensing techniques and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) computed from modern satellite images of the studied area were used as raw data by a program for measuring spatial and geographical analysis. Results of morphometric analyses are based on field data analysis and manually drawn watershed boundaries. Results from GIS depend on how accurate the DEM data utilized it after eliminating all no-data voids and filling in sink holes in the raw DEM data for the study area. It was discovered that SRTM-DEM with a reasonable resolution of 30 meters per grid cell provided accurate delineation for the surrounding topographic area of Hadetha Dam Lake in morphometric analysis. The hydrogeological study indicated that there are five underground basins: the modern sedimentation basin, the Injana basin, the Fattah basin, the Euphrates basin and the Umm Al-Raduma basin. There are also basins within the water formation in Injana and the Euphrates. The basin area and circumference were measured using the GIS Arc View geographic information system. The area and the circumference of the basin were 166 Km² and 244 Km, respectively. The soil permeability ratio of the main basin is high and rainfall is low. Therefore, the area is characterized by the presence of large and karst caves and cracks spread, thus creating a good area for the process of filtering rainwater into the ground to feed the layers that have the ability to collect water, and forming layers that contain groundwater. Osteochondromas are the most common benign tumors of the bone, accounting for 20%–50% of all bone tumors. They are usually surface tumors that arise from the growth plate and protrude outward. The most common locations for osteochondromas include the distal femur, proximal tibia, and proximal humerus. Tumor arising from the foot is still rarer, with the most common benign tumor being osteochondroma. It is a case report of a child who presented to the outpatient department with swelling on the second toe for 6-month duration. She underwent staging of the tumor and was diagnosed of having an osteochondroma of the second toe. She underwent excision biopsy and the histopathologic report came as that of osteochondroma. Proper evaluation and diagnosis are important to differentiate benign tumors, malignant tumors, and other conditions that may mimic malignancy in the foot and ankle.
