Introduction: According to the need to know about patient satisfaction in Shahid Sadoughi Dentistry School of Yazd, this study was conducted to evaluate the satisfaction of patients referred to the Department of Restorative, Endodontics, Periodontology, Prosthodontics and Comprehensive Therapy in 2018. Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, the satisfaction rate of 267 patients referred to the School of Dentistry in 5 sections (Periodontics, Endodontics, Restorative, Prosthodontics, and Comprehensive Therapy) at the end of treatment was evaluated using a Dental Satisfaction Questionnaire (DSQ). The questionnaire contained 19 questions in 3 areas: pain, access, and quality of treatment. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 17 and also t-test and ANOVA. The significance level in this study was considered 0.05. Results: The mean age of patients in this study was 31. 9 ± 11.4 that 63.7% of them were female. According to the results, the mean total score of satisfaction in the studied patients was 68.8 ± 9.2 from 100, and the mean score in area of pain, access, and quality of treatment was 63.9, 65.9 and 71.7, respectively. There was no significant relationship between patients' satisfaction and age, sex, place of residence and different departments of the faculty (P≥0.05), there was only a significant increase in the field of pain satisfaction with increasing age (P = 0.014). Conclusion: The average satisfaction score of patients referring to Shahid Sadoughi Dentistry School of Yazd in the five sections was 68.8 and was desirable. Considering the degree of satisfaction, more effort is needed to increase the satisfaction of patients.

???????Background: Adherence of Candida species, mainly C. albicans to denture surfaces, forms a biofilm which causes denture stomatitis in denture users. Removal of Candida plaque on dentures is essential to control the colonization of this yeast and to prevent infections related to C. albicans.Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of sodium hypochlorite with white vinegar for the disinfection of C. albicans from acrylic resin.Materials and Methods: 82, 10×10×1 mm acrylic resin plates were inoculated with 1×103 C. albicans suspension for 24 hours to prepare experimental Candida biofilm. The total number of Candida cells which adhered to 10 acryl resin plates was determined and the remaining 72 plates were randomly divided into four groups. The test plates were immersed in a solution of 1% sodium hypochlorite, 5% or 10%white vinegar for a period of 8 hours and distilled water was used as the negative control group. The Candida removing ability of the 3 disinfectants and the negative control group was assessed by comparing the number of colony forming units per 1 mL of the plates washing solution before and after the removing protocol. Data was analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests.Results: Sodium hypochlorite (1%) and white vinegar (10%) removed 100% of the C. albicans cells, followed by white vinegar (5%), which removed 99% of the adhered C. albicans from the acrylic resin plates. There wasn’t any significant statistical difference found between the 5% and 10% white vinegar in removing Candida from the acryl resin plates (P = 0.161).Conclusions: Overnight immersion of complete removable dentures in 10% or even a 5% white vinegar solution effectively removed C. albicans cells that had adhered to the denture surface and their removal properties the same as 1% sodium hypochlorite. Implication for health policy/practice/research/medical education:The results of this study indicate that vinegar is useful for removing of Candida biofilm from complete removable denture. Background: Angular cheilitis known as anoral candidiasis manifestation is deep fissures with ulcerated appearance, which affects angles of the mouth. Decreasing the vertical dimension (VD) of face in the elderly denture users is one of the predisposing factors for heavy colonization of Candida spp. in the cheek angles resulting angular cheilitis. Correcting vertical dimension by a new denture replacement can decrease Candida spp. colonization to prevent or improve the angular cheilitis lesions. Objectives: The current study aimed to determine the distribution profile of Candida species isolated from cheek angles of patients with old denture before and after replacing with new ones. Materials and Methods: Twenty eight complete denture users with decreased ridge, and outwear complete dentures, who referred for denture replacement, were randomly selected and their lip angles were cultured before and 3 months after using new dentures. Frequency and the species of isolated Candida spp. colonies before denture replacement and 3 months after using new dentures and correction of their vertical dimension were compared using Mann-Whitney statistical tests by SPSS software. Results: All samples were colonized before denture replacement, though 3 months after using new dentures, only few cultures were positive. A significant statistical difference was observed between Candida colonization before and 3 months after denture replacement (P = 0.0001). Candida albicans, C. tropicalis, C. krusei, C. parapssilosis and C. glabrata were isolated from lesions. Conclusions: The results of the current study suggest that long term use of dentures can cause a wide range of Candida species colonization, resulting angular cheilitis. There was a need for an oral manifestation management-based strategy focusing on clinical and preventative treatment. Angular cheilitis can be prevented by changing and replacing a new denture to modify the face vertical dimension, and improve the angular cheilitis lesions.

Background: Oral candidiasis is a common opportunistic infection in diabetic patients. Presence of denture in the oral cavity of diabetic patients can promote Candida colonization and results in the higher incidence of oral and systemic candidiasis. The general purpose of the present study was to evaluate and compare Candida colonization in denture of diabetic patients and non-diabetic control group. Methods: In current case-control study, samples for mycological examinations were collected from the palatal impression surface of maxillary dentures from 92 edentulous patients including 46 dia-betic and 46 non-diabetic denture wearers. All samples were cultured directly on sabouraud agar me-dium and isolated colonies were counted and identified based on specific tests. Data were statistically analyzed using Mann-Whitney and Spearman correlation tests. Results: The higher density of isolated colonies was seen in diabetic group in compare with control group (P = 0.0001). There was a statistically significant correlation between the blood glucose level (P = 0.0001) and the duration of denture usage (P = 0.022) with the colonization of Candida on den-ture of diabetic patients. C. albicans was the most common isolated Candida species in both groups, though diabetic patients with dentures had more non-albicans Candida isolated from their dentures compared to non-diabetic patients. Conclusions: Mycological findings from the present study revealed that diabetes mellitus can in-crease colonization of Candida in denture and mouth. By elimination of local and systemic factors in diabetic patients and improving their oral health care, Candida colonization and the risk of oral and systemic candidiasis will be decreased.
