Mouth rinsing using a carbohydrate (CHO) solution has been suggested to improve physical performance in fasting participants. This study examined the effects of CHO mouth rinsing during Ramadan fasting on running time to exhaustion and on peak treadmill speed (Vpeak). In a counterbalanced crossover design, 18 sub-elite male runners (Age: 21 ± 2 years, Weight: 68.1 ± 5.7 kg, VO2max: 55.4 ± 4.8 ml/kg/min) who observed Ramadan completed a familiarization trial and three experimental trials. The three trials included rinsing and expectorating a 25 mL bolus of either a 7.5% sucrose solution (CHO), a flavour and taste matched placebo solution (PLA) for 10 s, or no rinse (CON). The treatments were performed prior to an incremental treadmill test to exhaustion. Three-day dietary and exercise records were obtained on two occasions and analysed. Anthropometric characteristics were obtained and recorded for all participants. A main effect for mouth rinse on peak velocity (Vpeak) (CHO: 17.6 ± 1.5 km/h; PLA: 1...

This study aims to determine the relationship between psychological compatibility and academic achievement in swimming class, the subjects were (72) under graduate male students of physical education college at the University of Jordan. (M age = 19.4 SD =1.35). All subjects were students in swimming class and they were learning free style swimming skills. The learning scores for students were measured two times during the second semester in 2016; the subjects went through practical exams only, the med-term exam (30) grades, and the final-term exam (30) grades, the total grades score was out of (60). The researchers designed a questionnaire as a tool for this study to measures the degree of psychological compatibility for the subjects. The total scores for learning free style swimming skills and the scores for the questionnaire were compared to determine the relationship between psychological compatibility and academic achievement in free style swimming, Statistical treatment by using the (SPSS) program was done. The results showed that there was a relation between psychological compatibility and academic achievement during learning free style swimming skills.

This study investigates the impact of an educational course for swimming on free style swimming performance and life skills for deaf students. Subjects were (10) male deaf students who were attended to swimming courses level (1) in the Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Jordan, with mean age of (M age = 20.4 SD =1.35). After completing the Life skills through swimming context scale (Bayyat et al., 2016) and practical pre-test of free style swimming skills performance, subjects executed both physical practice of the free style swimming skills performance during a program conceited of eighteen sessions, 3 sessions a week, for 6-weeks, 60 mints per session, and life skills development dialogues program which focused on certain life skills (Communications, teamwork, self confidence / self –Esteem, problem solving and decision-making/responsibility).After 6-weeks all subjects completed a post life skills questionnaire which measured the changes in their life skills level after learning the free style swimming skills performance, they also went through a post practical subjective performance evaluation post-test which measured their level of the free style swimming skills performance. Statistical analysis was processed by SPSS. The results showed significant differences between pre and post-test in life skills dimensions and significant differences between pre and post-test in free style swimming performance level for the subject of this study. In conclusions the educational course for swimming had a positive impact on free style swimming performance and on life skills for deaf students in the faculty of physical education at the University of Jordan.

This work provides a new dataset method intended to build a biomechanical training model for the free-throws shots in basketball. Eight youth players from Jordanian secondary public school were video recorded from the sagittal plane executing free throw shots in basketball. Collectively (480) video clips were recorded and analyzed using image processing techniques to identify the ball track. Video processing involves extracting (11) different parameters that may affect the free throw in basketball game after detecting the ball trajectory. Creation of this dataset and its subsequent use for extracting free-throws information yielded several insights. First, a set of most important features were identified as those affecting the free-throws score in basketball. Second, our data set can be trained and tested using machine learning classifiers for building a new biomechanical training model based on set of rules that can be useful for both trainers and trainee to rehearse on successful free-throws in basketball. The dataset is being made publicly available at www.ju.edu.jo.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of video on developing physical fitness to physical education students at the Hashemite University. The study sample consisted of (20) Physical education students They were divided into two groups, the control group (10) students went through traditional physical practice method, and the experimental group (10) students went through physical practice using video, Pre and post-tests were carried out to measure student’s development in physical fitness (Vertical jump from stability, Throwing and receiving the ball, Trunk bending forward from standing, Zigzag running, Throwing a ball to the farthest distance and 25m running). Statistical analysis included t-Test for mean at pre and post test for the two groups, and t-Test for mean at post test in the two groups. The results showed significant differences (p < 0.05) in post test between the two groups in favor of the experimental group, it is concluded that using video improved physical fitness level more than the traditional method. The researchers recommended using video to developing physical fitness.
